How long have you been in the fandom kk/ck for and what was your first thoughts when you watched them for the first time? ☺️

Uhhhh. Maybe like April 2021? I might be overestimating/underestimating but it FEELS like I’ve been here a long time because I lurked before I actually spruced up a blog for my liking and got that big motivation to ease what I felt was an injustice of sorts lmao. A lot of people have been so nice to me, so maybe that adds to it.

No but I’m not really sure. I first saw Cobra Kai on New Years because my brother likes it (Can I tell you what year? No, I’m scatterbrained) and at first I honestly didn’t give it much serious attention because I was so focused on other things in my life and was putting the same stuff on repeat.

When I really started watching it, I was in a bad place mentally and it genuinely helped me. The distraction mainly but also It was just a pretty motivating show and it wasn’t so dark that I’d get worse anxiety. I enjoyed every character’s journey and the differences between them and I just wanted Johnny and Daniel to be safe and happy. I thought they did the girlboss thing pretty well, a lot of people don’t like Sam but she’s no worse than Hawk or Miguel. I knew Xolo from Parenthood so that was pretty rad. The soundtrack was impeccable to me too.

Obviously, I had seen Karate Kid but not since I was younger and it had been a while. I shamefully had no idea who ‘William Zabka’ was: Thats just that pretty blond brat from that Karate movie, yeah? And when I saw Ralph Macchio....nothing, my brain didn’t process it as Ralph Macchio the very first time. NOW I could write a ten page essay each about both the actors and characters, I am GONE.

Since I hadn’t had an attachment to the actors or franchise, my thoughts were shallow. Mostly about how I would let Daniel LaRusso speak to me in ways I would not allow any other man and that I loved his cute puppydog eyes (”Dilf twink; I wouldn’t mind a 2 minute 4k shot of his balls” basically) and Johnny was the prettiest 50 year old I ever did see, really liked his spunky personality and twinkly eyes (I love eyes) he has always been manwife material.

But yeah when I was going through it and began watching it is when I started actually caring about the characters more. You know you love a show when you have to hold a pillow to scream in lamentation when the writers fuck up.
