పూర్తిగా ఎగిరిన తామరపువ్వులను పోలిన అందమైన కన్నులతో, ముదురు నీలం వర్షపు మేఘాల వర్ణాన్ని కలిగి ఉన్న, యాదవ వంశానికి చిహ్నమైన రత్నం అయిన విశ్వగురువు అయిన శ్రీకృష్ణుడికి నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను. (5)

రుక్మిణి కేలిసంయుక్తం పీతాంబర సుశోభితం | అవాప్త తులసిగంధం కృష్ణం వందే జగద్గురుమ్ 6

పసుపు పట్టు వస్త్రాలు ధరించి, తులసి పరిమళానికి ఆకర్షితుడయ్యే రుక్మిణితో క్రీడా ఆటలో నిమగ్నమై ఉన్న విశ్వగురువు అయిన శ్రీకృష్ణుడిక�� నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను. (6)

గోపికానం కుచద్వంద్వ కుంకుమాంకిత వక్షసం | శ్రీనికేతం మహేశ్వాసం కృష్ణం వందే జగద్గురుమ్ 7

గోపికల ప్రీతిపాత్రమైన, గోపికల ప్రేమతో కుంకుమాన్ని పూసుకున్న దేహంలో ఉన్న విశ్వగురువు, విశ్వగురువు అయిన శ్రీకృష్ణుడికి నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను; ఎల్లప్పుడు లక్ష్మితో నివసించేవాడు మరియు శివునికి ప్రాణం. (7)

🌷 Translation : He wore celestial garlands and garments, and many divine scents were smeared over His body. All was wondrous, brilliant, unlimited, all-expanding.

🌹 Purport : In these two verses the repeated use of the word many indicates that there was no limit to the number of hands, mouths, legs and other manifestations Arjuna was seeing. These manifestations were distributed throughout the universe, but by the grace of the Lord, Arjuna could see them while sitting in one place. సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను - మహేశ్వరుని ఈ మాటను విని గరుడధ్వజుడగు విష్ణువు వినయముతో నిండిన అంతః కరణము గలవాడై చేతులు జోడించి నమస్కరించి ఇట్లు బదులిడెను (28).

విష్ణువు ఇట్లు పలికెను - నీ అంశనుండి జన్మించిన వాడగుట, లక్ష్మికి సోదరుడగు అను కారణములచే ఆ రాక్షసుని నేను యుద్ధములో సంహరించలేదు. వానిని నీవే సంహరించుము (29) ఓ దేవదేవా! మహాబలుడు, మహావీరుడు అగు ఆ రాక్షసుని ��ర్వదేవతలు గాని, ఇతరులు గాని జయించలేరు. ఈ నామాట సత్యము (30). నేను దేవతలతో గూడి చిరకాలము ఆ రాక్షస వీరునితో యుద్ధమును చేసితిని. నా ఉపాయము వాని యందు విఫలమాయెను (31). ఆతని పరాక్రమమునకు నేను సంతసిల్లి 'వరమును కోరుకొనుము' అని పలికితిని. నా ఈ మాటను విని ఆతడు ఉత్తమమగు వరమును కోరెను (32). 'ఓ మహావిష్ణు! నా సోదరియగు లక్ష్మితో మరియు దేవతలతో గూడి నా ఇంటిలో నివసించుము; నాకు ఆధీనుడవై ఉండుము' అని ఆతడు కోరినాడు. కావుననే, నేనాతని గృహమునకు వెళ్లియుంటిని (33).

O lord of the gods, he is very powerful, heroic and indefatigable by all the heaven-dwellers and others too. I am telling you the truth.

In fact a war was fought with him by me in the company of the gods. But my strategy was ineffective in regard to this great Dānava.

I told him “I am delighted with your valour. Tell me the boon you wish to have”. On hearing these words of mine he chose an excellent boon.

“O great Viṣṇu please stay in my mansion subservient to me along with my sister,[2] the gods and myself.” So I went to his mansion.

🕉 Mind goes on changing from negative to positive, from positive to negative. Those two polarities are as basic to the mind as negative and positive poles are to electricity. With one pole, electricity cannot exist-and mind also cannot exist. 🕉

Deep down, mind is electrical. That's why the computer can do its work and sometimes will do it better than the human mind. Mind is just a bio-computer. It has these two polarities and goes on moving. So the problem is not that sometimes you feel magic moments and sometimes you feel dark moments. The darkness of the dark moments will be proportionate to the magicalness of the magical moments. If you reach a higher peak in positivity, then you will touch the lowest in your negativity. The higher the reach of the positive, the lower will be the depth of the negative.

So the higher you reach, the deeper abyss you will have to touch. This has to be understood: If you try not to touch the lower rungs, then higher peaks will disappear. Then you move on plain ground. That's what many people have managed to do; afraid of the depth, they have missed the peaks. One has to take risks. You have to pay for the peak, and the price is to be paid by your depth, your low moments. But it is worth it. Even one moment at the peak, the magic moment, is worth a whole life in the darkest depths. If you can touch heaven for one moment, you can be ready to live for the whole of eternity in hell. And it is always proportionate, half and half, fifty-fifty.

This year, there will be two days dedicated to the celebration. This is because Ashtami tithi will begin from noon on September 6 and will continue till 4:14 pm on September 7.

Other than this, the believers of Smarta tradition will observe the fast on September 6 and ISKCON followers will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on September 7.

Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. In certain Hindu texts, such as the Gita Govinda, Krishna has been identified as supreme God and the source of all avatars. Krishna's birth is celebrated and observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in Shravana Masa (according to the amanta tradition) or Bhadrapada Masa (according to the purnimanta tradition). This overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar.

It is an important festival, particularly in the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. The celebratory customs associated with Janmashtami include a celebration festival, reading and recitation of religious texts, dance and enactments of the life of Krishna according to the Bhagavata Purana, devotional singing till midnight (the time of Krishna's birth), and fasting (upavasa), amongst other things. It is widely celebrated across India and abroad.

The meaning of the sanskrit word "janmashtami" can be understood by splitting it into the two words, "janma" and "ashtami." The word "janma" means birth and the word "ashtami" means eight; thus, Krishna Janmashtami is the celebration of Krishna's birth on the eighth day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).

Information about Krishna's life is noted in the Mahabharata, the Puranas, and Bhagavata Purana. Krishna is the eighth son of Devaki (mother) and Vasudeva (father). Surrounding the time of his birth, persecution was rampant, freedoms were being denied, and King Kamsa's life was threatened. Krishna was born within a prison in Mathura, India where his parents were constrained by his uncle, Kamsa. During Devaki's wedding, Kamsa was warned by a celestial voice that Devaki's eighth son would be the cause of his death. In an effort to defy this prophesy, Kamsa imprisoned Devaki and her husband and promptly killed the first six of her newborns after their birth. The guards responsible for keeping watch over Devaki's cell fell asleep and the cell doors were miraculously opened at the time of Krishna's birth. These events allowed Vasudeva to send Krishna across the Yamuna River to his foster parents, Yashoda (mother) and Nanda (father). This legend is celebrated on Janmashtami by people keeping fasts, singing devotional songs of love for Krishna, and keeping a vigil into the night.

Throughout Krishna's childhood and young adult life, Balarama, Krishna's half-brother, was a "constant companion" for him. Balarama joined Krishna in the major events that are celebrated in Vraja, Brindavan, Dravarka, and Mathura such as stealing butter, chasing calves, playing in the cow pens, and participating in wrestling matches.

In Jammu region, Janamashtami is popularly known by the name "Thogre/Thakure da Vrat" (meaning Vrat dedicated to Thakur i.e. Shri Krishna). Observing a Phalaahari Vrat for complete one day is the major ritual in the festival. The day is marked by numerous Phalaahari Dhaams or Bhandaras in the streets of Jammu region's prominent towns.

Janamashtami is celebrated as Zaram Satam (Janam Saptami) by the native Kashmiri Pandits of Kashmir. The festival is associated with observing a vrat the whole day and visiting the Thokur Kuth (Krishna Mandir) at midnight. At night, puja is performed in the temples which includes performing abhishek (ritual bath) to the murti of Krishna, and singing bhajans (devotional songs). Food items appropriate for fasting, such as gaer or singhada lapsi (made from waterchestnut flour), fruits, and dried fruits are consumed on this day.

Janmashtami is a national holiday in Bangladesh. On Janmashtami, a procession starts from Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka, the National Temple of Bangladesh, and then proceeds through the streets of Old Dhaka. The procession dates back to 1902, but was stopped in 1948. The procession was resumed in 1989.

Among the Malbars of the French island Réunion, a syncretism of Catholicism and Hinduism can develop. Janmashtami is considered to be the date of birth of Jesus Christ.

In Arizona, United States, Governor Janet Napolitano was the first American leader to greet a message on Janmashtami, while acknowledging ISKCON. The festival is also celebrated widely by Hindus in the Caribbean countries of Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Suriname. Many Hindus in these countries originate from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; descendants of indentured immigrants from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, and Orissa. It is also celebrated by Hindus in South Africa.

ISKCON temples worldwide celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, as well the birthday of ISKCON founder-acharya A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, which falls on the following day according to the Vaishnava calendar.

Janmashtami fast will also be observed on the 19th of August. According to astrology, for those who keep fast on Janmashtami, this fast starts from the date of Saptami. And after the birth of Lord Shri Krishna at 12 o’clock on the Ashtami date, the fast is broken. This time both Vaishnav and the householder will celebrate Janmashtami on the same day. Follow these rules during Janmashtami fast

Janmashtami fasting starts on the evening of Saptami Tithi. Sattvik food is also eaten a day before.

On the day of Janmashtami fast, wake up in the morning at Brahma Muhurta, take bath, etc. and take a vow of fast by holding a Tulsi leaf in your hand. On this day Laddu Gopal is bathed with Panchamrit. Take this Panchamrit as Prasad.

Married people follow the Brahmacharya Vrat completely on this day. On this day Lord Vishnu should be worshiped and sesame should be offered to him. Take a bath with water at midday on the day of fasting. If you want, you can also keep a silent fast on this day.

On this day, decorate Lakshmi-Narayan with lotus flowers. Fruits can be consumed during fasting. Apart from this, the fast is broken only after the birth of Shri Krishna. After birth, offer milk, curd, fruits, etc. to God. Putting basil leaves in water on this day and consuming them is considered fruitful.

If possible, cows should be worshiped along with Shri Krishna on this day.

Worship like this on Janmashtami

On the day of Janmashtami, wake up early in the morning and take bath, etc. After cleaning the house, light a lamp in the temple of the house. Let us tell you that on this day, Laddu Gopal, the child form of Shri Krishna, is worshipped. Jalabhishek of Laddu Gopal. Make God sit in the swing. Make them swing. Enjoy the things dear to God.
