Eurovision Fact #471:
France's win at the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest marks the second time in the contest's history that a nation has won twice in a row.
First, Poland won twice in a row in 2018 and 2019, and now France has won in 2022 and 2023.

Junior Eurovision Commentary: The Squeakquel
3:31pm - Right, after a few minutes of filler- er I mean getting to know the contestants we're getting on to British. My neck of the woods. Will their song be better than the effort at Eurovision Sr. earlier in the year?
I'm 15 and still can't solve a Rubix.
3:37pm - Right, British time! They said hell on CBBC, will be filing a complaint to Ofcom. (joke!)
You know, that wasn't as bad I was expecting. I heard the song on CIN and thought it was aight, and the song's still kinda aight to me. That peformance though was stinkin great. 6/7 for the peformance alone.
3:40pm - North Macedonia now, and it ended before i thought it began. It's pretty ok. 4/7.
3:44pm - Estonia had a neat spectacle and song that also ended before I thought it began. But that kid can sing! 5/7.
And it's break time again. The innocent man and someone else I dunno who have been doing BBC commentary and they're doing fine. I feel like I only recognise Lauren as a former 2016-era CBBC viewer.
Plus, only 45 minutes in and only one perfect score from me? That's not right isn't it?
3:52pm - Right, we're back with Armenia. I'm really not into this type of music but I'll try my hardest to not be biased...
this song is just eh. 3/7. Feel free to slander me.
Wait there's a dragon? Oh, I take it all back.
3:55pm - Poland now, another slow song, not bad but not one I'll be listening to on the car ride home. The home photos and videos of the singer are kinda neat. And the pyro too! This is a spectacle... only in the smallest way of a spectacle. For that it's getting a 5/7.
Right, gettin close to the top of the hour, gonna make a new post now, next up we've got Georgia.

Junior Eurovision
Yay! It's Junior Eurovision time again! Wonder which French-language broadcaster will win this year.
"Cœur" was another upbeat bop, with a simple message translating across language barriers. It was top with the jury, top with the public vote, and top of the pile.
I loved the staging from "Loviu", all sorts of Willy Fog.
Really enjoyed the augmented reality from "Back to life", the BBC push the envelope once more.
Plus lots of ballads, what I expect to be the final appearance of EDM until it comes back as a nostalgic throwback in 2037, and some reflection on ten years of watching Junior Eurovision.
And if, for some unaccountable reason, you don't give a flying fig about Junior Eurovision, I also have a look at Netflix's desire to move into shiny floor and game shows.

Junior Eurovision 2023 Tier List at the moment
(before the show, all countries revealed)
Very nice of them for accepting Junior Eurovision at their concert: "Do It My Way" 🇦🇲, "Holding On To You" 🇳🇱, "Aisling" 🇮🇪, "Loviu" 🇪🇸
So beautiful I would kms if their stagings screw it all (or sent to sing first, or end last in the results): "Ohne Worte" 🇩🇪, "Kvitka" 🇺🇦, "Kazi Mi, Kazi Mi Koj" 🇲🇰, "Stronger" 🇲🇹
(BONUS) Not the great thing, but I identify myself with them: "I Just Need a Friend" 🇵🇱, "Hoiame Kokku" 🇪🇪, "Where I Belong" 🇵🇹
Unlikely but not impossible potential Top 5 (or winners): "Coeur" 🇫🇷, "Back to Life" 🇬🇧, "Bota Ime" 🇦🇱
I heard better ones in previous years: "Over the Sky" 🇬🇪, "Un Mondo Giusto" 🇮🇹
...just good luck and don't die (affectionate) in Nice: (fortunately no one and I hope it keeps this way, they're kids after all. But if this was the adult edition, I would put a certain Polish song here)

Being the language nerd I am, I looked at the translation on Yan Girls’ “Do It My way”, Armenia JESC 2023.
And I quote, from the translation: “I don’t like cha-cha-cha, that’s not my style”
not them dissing Käärijä 😭😭
