okay babes rewatched episode 15 and I forgot how fucking good it was,, they all were so in it oh my god.

the whole build up to the fight was brilliant, every second of the episode had my heart beating despite having seen at all before, the seething wrath of gillion and growing rage of chip was just amazing and I couldn’t stop saying out loud “i am shitting myself” (/pos)

I couldn’t believe that I had forgotten how wonderful this episode was. I had to pause at the jay intervention because she went for the fucking throat (okay not literally since in this context there was literally,,, anyway—) I forgot her calling out the boys bullshit and her saying it so fucking directly sent me. I had to pause and take a breather.

BUT THEN I UNPAUSED AND GOT TO “I never should’ve picked you up in that ocean” “and I never should have taken your hand” and I had to pause and silently scream.

I literally love this episode i fucking love it,, i fucking can’t.

I didn’t understand how important this episode was at the time bc I kinda found it funny since I didn’t take gillion seriously (ik I was very shallow 2 years ago)

I thought it was silly and was definitely on chip’s side. I was like brother it was bald men I can’t believe we’re fighting to the death over this. But understanding these characters so deeply now, this episode is so important to me.

Especially after gillion’s trial, this duel might rival my declared favourite moment of riptide.

I am so inspired to make an animation (although so many amazing artists already have) because that is just how good this is. It has made me want to create.

I love this episode and i def recommend a rewatch as a refresher and just an amazing look at character development and characterization ♥️

because looking at the dynamic in that scene knowing everything we do now about Chip, the parallels between that moment with him and Gil and that one traumatic memory  he traded away in Noctis are kinda depressing 

like Chip gets a pass on freaking out on that one that’d mess anybody up

thinking bout. chip internalizing things and burying them <333 thinkin bout nightmare jay insulting him and trying to kill him, all while parroting actual jay's words. thinking about him breaking down crying over being called a bastard in the dakota crossover. thinkin bout "chip just ignores those emotions, so don't worry about it, he's just trucking along, but like... from an outside perspective, nobody loves him". thinkin bout how chip just sits and takes and takes all this trauma and all these insults and acts like it doesnt bother him, like its water off a ducks back, but how they burrow deep into him where he won't let himself see it. how maybe if you act like the wound isnt there then maybe it will go away but in reality it just festers and festers til the infection spreads, til it spreads too far and infects the body whole. just.... thinking <3
