It's such a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm not gonna lie, there were some moments I cried.

I noticed that some characters have a really sad past.

The manga is so beautifully written.

I 100% recommend this manga

Kono Oto Tomare Chapter 78

I got a bit tired of scanning. Hahaha. Sorry! (Again, I’m not a native speaker. So mistakes all around.) This is the continuation from the previous scans.

During lunch on the rooftop, Micchi tells Chika, Kota, Tetsuki and Sane their arrangement for housework and other responsibilities while their Mom is recuperating. It is a complicated fracture, so it’ll take 1 month to heal.

Micchi will bring and fetch his sister to preschool, then he’ll do dinner while his other sister would do breakfast. For 1 month, Micchi can only attend the lunch and 1 hour of the after school practice sessions.

Sane was unable to hide the shock in his face when he suddenly blurted that it is not possible at all. Micchi was also a bit surprised but awkwardly smiled and said that he needs to practice because he couldn’t attend this morning’s session.

As Micchi left, Sane realized that his reaction was probably not good for Micchi to see. He was a bit guilty for showing that face and saying those things. Chika says that Micchi probably understands his situation the most. On the way to the club room, Micchi continuously thinks that “It’ll be okay. It’ll be okay. I’ll do something about it.”

Micchi tells everyone in the club room about his situation. Takezou starts saying that if it’s only 1 month, then it is okay... But Takinami-sensei interjects; saying that after 1 month, his Mom can’t really immediately get back to her original situation. She needs to be in a crutch for a while. Then rehabilitation. Takinami-sensei continues on to say that it’ll probably be at least 2 months. He tells Micchi that he doesn’t think that he can practice the same as other club members. Everyone is a bit shocked and stunned to silence.

HIro-senpai tries to insert cheerfulness and motivates him by saying ‘It’ll be okay. Our club has already been practicing too much. We’ve also been talking about improving the quality of practice instead of the quantity. It’ll happen somehow.”

Takinami-sensei disagrees a bit and says that in these situations, they can’t look away from reality.

Takinami-sensei addresses Micchi directly; saying “Sakai, to be honest, with the amount of practice you can do in the future, I do not think your current part in ‘Ai’ will work.” *Micchi gets teary-eyed* Takezou shouts, “Sensei!”

Takinami-sensei continues on to say that it’s a song he made based on their usual amount of practice and ability. Even if your ability improves suddenly, you can’t play if you lessen the amount of practice to less than half.

Sane and Kota interrupts saying “But, saying it that way...” and “Also, talking about it now...”

Takinami-sensei explains that this is a suggestion/proposal. He continues to say, “Up to this point, you all spend a lot of time in club activities. Outside of class, you concentrate on practice. There is usually no time spent on household matters. Matters that might be harder and heavier than expected.”

Then Takinami-sensei surprises everyone by saying “So, Sakai, only your part, I will re-do/recreate.” (Sensei scared me a bit there. I thought he’ll totally remove Micchi’s part. Sorry for doubting you Takinami-sensei. Hahaha)

Takinami-sensei continues to say, “Let me make adjustments where it is difficult to play mainly.” Micchi gets teary-eyed again as he asks, “Am I the only one who’ll do the easy/simple part?”

Takinami-sensei answers with “Well... To say/put it simply...” Micchi thinks to himself and remembers Chika, Kota and other members having a difficult time practicing but being very happy that Takinami-sensei made their parts thinking that they will succeed in playing it. He then says “No./I don’t want that. It’s okay even if you don’t adjust my part (referring to Sensei's offer)”

Takinami-sensei tries to explain that it’s better to play the easier part than forcing yourself and not giving the best performance (accomplishing it only halfway). Micchi shouts that he still doesn’t understand. With teary eyes, he says that his home matters may not be as dire as they think. His mother may heal sooner than they expected. He pleads not to decide that it’s impossible before he tries to do it (Awww. Micchi.). He bows his head slightly and asks everyone to please let him try his best. T_T

Everyone looks on with teary eyes as well. Kota calls his name (Mittsu in this case). Chika calls him Mittsu as well and hands him his Koto. Chika says that they don’t have time and they should start practice. Kota agrees and Sane says that it’s not the time to talk.

Takezou faces Takinami-sensei and tells him to please think about how Micchi can practice properly. Takinami-sensei scratches his head and begrudgingly answers, “I understand.” Atsumu smiles hearing this but Momoya looks very serious as he looks down.
