According to the notes on Elise's character design sheet, the emblem on her garters is meant to be a Hydrangea! Though these flowers are often seen clustered together in a way not depicted in her accessory, you can clearly make out the four-petaled shape of the individual flowers!

These flowers are associated with Japan's rainy season in June. In the Japanese flower language, Hanakotoba, the hydrangea is associated with concepts like "strong love," "family," "sincerity," and "apologies."

Blue Hydrangeas specifically can be associated with concepts like "indifferent and cold," "ruthlessness," and "patient, loyal affection."

White Hydrangeas can be associated with "open-mindedness."

Since Elise is a character created in Japan, these concepts were likely considered while choosing which flower to put on her garter!

But Ishana, where she lives, is more rooted in European culture, so let's take a look at Victorian flower language as well!

In this variant of floral symbolism, hydrangeas are instead associated with "pridefulness," "boastfulness," and "cold heartedness!" There were even some legends in the 1800s suggesting that women who grew hydrangeas in their yards would be unlucky in love- cursed to never marry, and die alone.

My Favorite Supporting Character: Yuki Himezuru 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

This was a tough choice as a lot of the support cast in XBLAZE is great, but I ultimately chose Yuki Himezuru, Hinata's older sister. If there's one word I can use to describe Yuki, it's "Supportive". Yuki places a great deal of trust in Touya despite the dangers he constantly finds himself in and that's saying a lot considering her parents were murdered by Ripper, sending her into depression until Hinata came into her life, restoring her joy in life. She also takes matters of family seriously as even though Hinata and Touya aren't related by blood, she still considers them her brother and sister. She even considers Es, Mei, Kuon, Elise, Akira and Avenge her family as well. Yuki also became a major factor in awakening Es to her true self in the end as well.

A kind sister, a doctor who always comes through for her patients and the glue that holds her newfound family together, Yuki has earned the spot as my favorite Supporting Character.

Elise von Klagen 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵

Elise, or Els in the Japanese Version, is definitely an under used character in Code Embryo, but despite her small screen time, she proved to be a big help to everyone by endgame in the Es and Hinata Routes thanks to her hacking abilities, which is why I'm glad that Elise has more screen time and importance in the Main Story and the Red Kuon Memory Story in Lost Memories. Even though her love for Kuon is unrequited, Elise has proven herself to be a reliable if not goofy friend and she's not ashamed of herself, both in regards to her hobbies as an Otaku and her sexuality as a Lesbian.

Regardless of who wins Kuon's heart in the end, I have no doubt in my mind that Elise will always be there for her friend, no matter what.

The Sealed Treasure Spear: Izayoi

 A Legacy Weapon possessed by the Magick Association.

This spear-like weapon with two floating blades requires a special permission from the association before it can be used. It was given to Kuon Glamred Stroheim for detention of Drei, Sechs, and Acht of the Ten Sages.

It has the ability to seal all of the magical abilities of its chosen target, turning a conjurer into an ordinary person. By releasing the power of the Izayoi, a special barrier is created that is impossible to escape from.

Its price of use is blindness.

I really enjoyed my experiences with XBLAZE, both Code Embryo and Lost Memories! Both are such underated games and they both deserve a Remaster on current Gen consoles to show the stories again, especially with an English Dub! I especially love the characters of Es, Touya and Mei as well throughout the series!
