as always, i pull from a mix of canons! steve is from the same universe as tony (which i guess is the same universe as peter, which is ?? whatever we want it to be), and i use a combination of 616 and mcu for backstory and influences. basically! comics childhood, mcu becoming cap, mix of everything after (no secret empire lmao; also not mcu-dead) ; i’m always very happy to shift stuff around/specify/work with y’all for plotting to make things fit!

although he grew up in brooklyn instead of the lower east side, i otherwise take steve’s family history/dynamics from 616 instead of the mcu--steve’s parents, joseph and sarah, were poor irish immigrants. his dad was Not Great TM and died when he was pretty young; his mom passed away when he was a teenager. he had a semester of art school, but dropped out to join the army, partly because he couldn’t afford to stay, partly because fighting for the country his family had given so much for felt like the right thing to do
steve’s got a bit of a complex about the steve/cap divide. he loves being captain america, most of the time. but he knows he’s more of a monument than a man to most of the world. he’s made his peace with it, and he’s played along, but it’s nice when he can just be steve. very few people see him that way (see: bucky, who he grew up with as a brother; tony, who was instrumental in helping steve adjust to life after the ice, and is one of the few people to treat him like a regular person; peggy, who knew him before he was cap, etc)
along those lines! captain america doesn’t swear. steve rogers does. exactly 2 people know this (bucky and tony), as far as he’s aware. he’s a scrappy little new yorker at heart. of course he’s got a foul mouth.
he doesn’t drink. some of this is because the serum means he can’t get drunk. some of it is the good old clean-cut image they drilled into him back when he was on the uso tour. a lot of it is because of his father
he’s an artist! this is very important! it’s pretty much just a hobby, but he’d love to be able to make a living on it. is that an impossible dream? yeah, probably, but so was turning into a genetically engineered super soldier. he particularly likes sketching faces and memories; he has been trying but failing miserably at learning digital art (he was also color-blind before the serum, which i like to think means his relationship towards colors and paints tends towards the abstract and stylized, because he basically taught himself color theory twice)
he spends quite a bit of time at memory lane. please don’t make me explain this too much if i think about it too long i will start to cry
that story from she-hulk about him and a girl on the uso tour in ‘43? i’m not entirely convinced he didn’t make it up so the team would stop bullying him change my mind

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM?
You’re asking Steve Rogers, Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty, how he feels about a masked megalomaniac self-proclaimed emperor? Sure. Okay. The answer, of course, is absolutely not. Steve’s lived for a very long time, and he doesn’t have any more time for Doom. Sarah Rogers raised her son to do no harm, but take no shit, and Steve’s taking no shit. He’s up there in the resistance working to take him down. He was, quite literally, made for something like this. A different time, a different world, a different tyrant, maybe, but it’s all the same. Tyranny is tyranny; freedom is freedom.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN?
The battles are barbaric. No one should be forced to fight in a gladiatorial contest. It’s inhumane. He’s been the dancing (punching) monkey before, so many lifetimes ago, and he wouldn’t wish it on anyone. He’s neither actively avoiding nor seeking them out, but Steve is absolutely using them as yet another reason Emperor Doom is extremely bad news. He’ll fight if he has to, and he’s not too worried about winning, but he doesn’t want to have to. He’s a soldier, not a gladiator.

Steve runs a support group for people struggling with multiversal displacement (and living under the omnipresent gaze of Emperor Doom). They meet twice a week, sometimes in Frigga’s, which Thor has generously lent out (and provided complimentary fruity mocktails with the little umbrellas). Steve knows what it’s like to leave behind a life, to wake up in a new, unfamiliar world, to lose everyone and everything you knew and loved and have to keep living. He’s done it. It’s awful. No one should have to go through that alone. Steve can fight Doom as Captain America all he likes; as Steve Rogers, the least he can do is try to make the rest of their lives a little bit better.

Wade is very aware that something fucky is going on and doesn’t trust Doom in the slightest, but also doesn’t really care that much. They’re entertained and ready to fight, so as far as they’re concerned, the situation really could be a lot worse. They’re just going with the flow and seeing what happens.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN?
Wade is so, so eager to jump into battle. They’re so excited about all of the violence and fighting that they haven’t stopped to think about the people who don’t want to be there or don’t want to be involved, despite the very nagging feeling that something’s Not Right.

POINT OF ORIGIN: based on x-men: the animated series (1992) and 616 comics! scott obviously has a long long history and i definitely have not read all his appearances, contextually to the verse we will blame any gaps on cross universe spotty memory. i will list what i’ve read in my headcanons page though and do my best to keep that updated as i keep reading! some basics: (a.) vibes wise i am trying to hit … a happy medium between show, the way scott historically behaves (dickish), and the chiller version he is in the more recent/current x-men. scott softens when he’s happy but he’s sort of been torn from his first real glimpse of that in a while so he’s not in like, the best mood. (b.) i am 1000% incorporating krakoa era. yes krakoa we love krakoa. scott was living at the moon summers house prior to all this because i think it’s fun.

(b.) scott suffers from in love with his friends disease and it is incurable. this man could not navigate his feelings with a map and a compass, but there was .. a lot going on there. maybe he would’ve finally had a chance to figure it out but he had one moment of peace and now he’s in another world, his 78 exes are wandering around and he doesn’t know where his 54 other relatives are. it is not easy being scott summers. (c.) scott misses his moon house frankly. but alas, he does feel a little more settled with krakoa in the picture. obviously as soon as it became an option that’s where he chose to live, questionable means of appearing be damned. HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM?: i wouldn’t say they’ve ever been on the best of terms, but they were ... fine, before all this. scott has a reluctant sort of respect for him at the best of times but again he’s not feeling incredibly charitable as of late, mostly he regards doctor doom with a heavy dose of suspicion and caution. he definitely doesn’t underestimate him, and with the general populace, x-men, everyone in a sort of disarray it’s hard to do anything but watch from a distance.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN?: they’re not yet super on his radar of things to worry about. he’s definitely not jumping in any time soon, nor does he find any real good in them, but he’s not going out of his way to put a stop to anything. he doesn’t really think about them much, at all.
WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER ACCEPTED THEIR JOB POSITION? WILL THEY USE IT TO GET CLOSER TO DOOM? OR WILL THEY USE IT EXPLOIT HIM? OR DO THEY SIMPLY LIKE THEIR JOB?: he accepted the position because as of right now, scott’s primary focus is mutopia and his fellow mutants. it’s not right to say he’s otherwise minding his business because he’s certainly not being intentionally respectful or anything, more so that his sights are focused on his own people in the absence of any real action to take. he’s happy to help should his assistance be called upon, but he likes his role and the closeness it offers to people he knows in some way. i imagine pre-krakoa being a thing here he probably felt very aimless. who knows what he was up to. not me.

Stepping Discs: Controlling the stepping discs of Limbo allows Illyana to teleport through space and time. It’s not always exact, and she always passes through Limbo to get to where she’s going. The further out she goes, the less control she has.
Soulsword: Using a piece of her soul, Illyana forged a sword she can summon at will. It doesn’t cut through solid matter as other swords do, but rather disrupts spells and magical abilities.
Sorcery: Illyana has studied as a sorcerer under the tutelage of the demon lord Belasco since she’s was very little. She’s mostly adept at dark magic, and can struggle a bit with lighter magic, especially outside of Limbo.
HAVE THEY BROUGHT ANY FAMILY OR PETS WITH THEM: No pets! But she would enjoy a visit from Lockheed every now and then, if he ever ventures away from Kate.

I like to think Illyana’s accent isn’t quite Russian. It’s there a little bit, but really she hasn’t lived in Siberia since she was seven years old. English was basically downloaded into her head, then she spent years in Limbo. So there’s a bit of a Russian accent, but there’s also a bit of something else. Illyana knows where she got it, but it’d be hard for others to place.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM?
It’s admittedly pretty impressive, what he did. It’d be wrong not have some amount of respect for a man who can wrangle universes together where there was only chaos before. But she’s not really big on supreme rulers, if she’s being honest. Maybe it’s an authority thing, maybe it’s that she knows what it’s like to wrest control from one, but she certainly doesn’t feel like bowing down at his feet any time soon.

It’s fun! In a way. Competing in the Killoseum was an easy answer. She has magic, she has a frankly really cool sword. Besides, maybe there’s something to be learned from being right in the middle of everything. Everything is a mess, she’s still trying to figure out how the pieces all fit together and what the purpose might be, but swinging her sword in battle? That makes sense. That’ll always make sense.

she was born in boston in the late 60s to joe & marie danvers, a perfectly ordinary and in no way alien couple, no sir!
(turns out marie was, in fact, mari-ell, making carol half-kree, but she didn’t learn that for a pretty long time)
joe was… not the best dad & definitely favored carol’s half-brothers, stevie & joe, jr.
carol and stevie were really close growing up, and when he joined the military, she wanted to follow in his footsteps!
what she really wanted was to study literally rocket science in college and become an astronaut, but the family didn’t have enough money to pay for her to study; rather than being forced into a menial job, carol joined the air force. she earned her college degree through the us air force academy–she was one of the earlier classes of women to graduate, and a goddamn phenomenal pilot
not too long later, stevie was killed in military action, which made carol even more determined to honor his legacy, and she quickly rose to the top of her class
however, carol wasn’t allowed to fly in combat or become an astronaut due to Sexism TM! she was instead offered the opportunity to work as a special operative, and came onboard Project PEGASUS, a joint project between the air force, SHIELD, and NASA – headed by dr. wendy lawson, who quickly became a close mentor
lawson, was, of course, also a kree soldier named mar-vell, who, in carol’s presence, was attacked by her superior, yon-rogg
in the process, carol was knocked into a psyche-magitron machine, forever altering her genetic structure, rendering her amnesiac and unlocking her latent kree powers (she believed for a long time that she had somehow fused with mar-vell’s dna, but, nah, comics logic)
yon-rogg kidnapped carol, and for the next six years, she was trained as a kree soldier named vers, until she crash-landed on earth during a mission and managed to regain her memory
in the process, she allied with nick fury and basically became the on-call space girl/extraterrestrial superhero–first for shield, then for the avengers
at some point in there she was just entirely absorbed by rogue?? (tbd dependent on if/when we get a rogue), but that was a bad time for her, and she still has trauma from such a violating loss of identity
carol is a massive star wars nerd & has a pet cat (flerken) named chewie (chewbacca), who is a very good girl and we love her very much
in this house carol danvers is a lesbian !!
the combo of lightspeed travel & her kree abilities has dramatically slowed her aging–though she is well into her late 50s, she looks solidly 30 at most

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM?
Oh, fuck that guy. She doesn’t do well with authority (shut up, Tony), and she extremely doesn’t do well with overbearing megalomaniacal would-be emperors trying to build the entire world in their image. It’s not a great look. Carol has spent her life trying to reclaim power and autonomy from people who would try to take it away from her, just as she’s tried to do right by the little guy and keep people safe. The guy’s going down, and she’s not afraid to make some noise about it.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN?
This is a woman who canonically regularly beats up the Hulk just to feel a little better. Carol’s a battle champion, and she’s good at it. She hates being used for these ends; it’s dehumanizing and humiliating, and she’s spent too much of her life as someone else’s soldier. She’s strong as shit, but she’d rather be using that for herself, to make her own choices, to be her own person. No one should be used as a punching bag for someone else’s pleasure, someone else’s agenda, without consent or autonomy. She knows what that’s like. It’s awful. Still, there’s a thrill in the fight. It makes her feel alive. It makes her almost feel sane. Almost.

See above! She loves her job, but she hates her job, if that makes sense? Getting to just punch people is a terrific fit for her, and a great way to take out some of that pent-up energy and anger. But she hates why she’s doing it, and she hates that she has to do it. At least it’ll give her a ground-level view to see what’s going on--she’s never been very good on the ground, so it’s a change of pace. If she can get towards Doom’s good side, she can exploit him, and maybe fix this mess. Maybe. That implies getting on his good side, though, which, knowing her, isn’t about happen. She’s a damn good soldier, but a terrible spy.

to be completely honest, bucky does not have the time and energy to care. he knows men like emporer doom; he’s seen and fought them personally. but he is not looking to get involved in another war. at least not until he’s got his own head figure out. he just wants to get his life back on track first. sure, shuri gave him his free will back but he’s not the old bucky just yet. he wonders if he ever will be again.

bucky is actively volunteering in the fights. it gnaws at him a little bit that some of them are being forced to fight, knowing all too well what that is like, but he tries to subdue that part of him by telling himself that whatever they did, they probably deserved it.

as mentioned above, bucky doesn’t necessarily care for doom. he is not trying to get anything out of this other than to feel normal, even if it’s just for a couple of minutes. it sounds contradictory, ungrateful almost, considering the things certain people had to sacrifice to get him to this point but fighting is the only thing that makes him feel semi-normal. it’s the only thing he knows, the only thing he is good at. frankly, he is feeling incredibly lost and he wonders if he will ever find his place in this ever changing world.

johnny has his plasma form, in which he transforms his entire body into fiery plasma; additionally he can use pyrokinesis to generate shapes and manipulate these flames into weapons, extending outside his body. he has the ability of flight, as well as fire immunity, cold resistance and thermokinesis. his most powerful form and rarely-used power is his nova flame – this is the highest, hottest level he can create, but he cannot maintain this for as long as his ordinary flame. it has around the power of a nuclear warhead detonation and he can use it in the form of a burst to devastate the area around him. extensive use of his powers typically exhausts and weakens him.

- the basics: despite his young age, johnny’s been in the superhero business a long time, having helped his sister, her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s best friend steal a rocketship and head to the stars. their run-in with cosmic radiation changed them all into superpowered beings and they became their world’s first superhero team, with johnny still in high school.
- inferiority complex, oh boy. the ff never had any secret identities, so johnny’s life changed overnight when he became the human torch. one day he was a lonely teenager, with no friends, no parents, and no potential. the next, he was famous, a superhero, a teen icon and sensation. he loved his powers, loved the attention, loved being famous, all things he’d wanted for so long that, at first, he didn’t really care why he was finally getting them. but it didn’t take long for johnny to realise without the powers, he’d still be nothing. especially given that it’s always been obvious he’s the weakest of the four, the liability, the one that causes the team as much trouble as he actually helps. they’re all so much smarter than him, so much stronger, more selfless, worth more, and johnny knows it. that’s part of the reason why he always likes being in the center or a crowd, is always hungry for more fame and attention. it’s the validation he craves.
- despite his reputation as a player, in reality, johnny’s far from it. he’s definitely not career minded and the only real consistent ambition he’s had in life is to be in love, be in a relationship, get married, have a family. it’s just... never worked out like that in reality. but he’s almost always strictly in committed monogamous relationships, with a tendency to fall hard & fast and get hit hard by a breakup. when he’s brokenhearted tends to be the only time he goes for hookups, since it makes johnny feel better about himself again to be wanted, even if it’s only physical. his reputation in the media is something he plays into, however, and he has a tendency to flirt and to make up stories about far more experience than he’s actually had.

look, it’s complicated. the fantastic four have known victor von doom a long time - they’ve been fierce enemies, uneasy allies, and weird pseudo-family. there was that one time they deposed victor from the throne of latveria and also that one time they helped him get it back, mostly just because he asked. and like, fair’s fair. he did eliminate hunger. it’s complicated. but johnny also wouldn’t trust him further than he could throw him. he knows victor hasn’t supposedly saved them all out of the goodness of his heart, and it burns knowing that they’re living in doom’s world now, that he won. the tight watch he keeps over the baxter building is infuriating, suffocating, humiliating. and there’s always been only so long johnny can control himself before he explodes.

johnny is pretty sickened by the whole concept. he’s a hot-head who tends to rush into a fight, but he’s never really liked the actual action of fighting and has worked hard for a long time to gain the control over his powers that he has today. their destructive nature has always bothered him, and he’s mastered using an offensive power for defensive purposes above all. the last thing he’d ever want to do is partake in unnecessary fighting and risk burning someone, always his greatest fear. while johnny is often careless and thoughtless about almost everything else, his powers are the one thing he is always, always in control of, and one large reason for his playing along with doom’s rules is that he fears being forced into the battles as a punishment.

johnny is back in college again. does he like it? definitely not. is he determined to finally stick with it this time, attempt number he’s-lost-track? yes. but it’s not easy. he’s never been much for school, and has dropped out of college in the past in favor of different things - cosmic adventures, saving the day, going all in on a relationship or just because he couldn’t hack it. it’s something of an insecurity - he knows he’s seen as the dumb one of the group, he knows he actually is the dumb one and being at college really doesn’t help, because everyone seems to be doing so much better than he is. but he definitely needs the distraction or else he’s likely to do something stupid, like go after doom alone, and get himself sent to the deadlands. he has zero plans against doom at the moment - but johnny never really has any plans. he’s all emotion, all impulse, and at any moment he could decide to do something drastic. that’s just how he is.

Hail Doom. Nah, he’s not thrilled. Doom is a) creepy and b) authoritarian, and Peter’s not particularly about either of those things. It’s nice he’s funding research, but the surveillance state is not helping his case. Peter’s built his life on doing what’s right, protecting common good, and standing up for the little guy. Doom is not it. Out of suit, he’s polite. He’s not raising suspicions. He’s keeping his head down, not making a fuss; glowering, but playing along. In the suit? Another story entirely. Something’s off here. His spider sense can feel it, etc etc. Or maybe he’s just worked under J. Jonah Jameson long enough to know when the vibes are simply Not It.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN?
You wouldn’t know it from looking at him, but Peter Parker has never met someone he hasn’t immediately wanted to fight. Does he want to be used in some sort of weird government gladiatorial scheme? No! Does he want to beat someone up in an arena? Sure! He’s much stronger than anyone gives him credit for, and he’d like a chance to prove his worth. That said, he doesn’t do well answering to anyone or anything, and he’s super not into being used as a pawn in someone else’s game. Forcing people to fight for sport is inhumane--just because he likes to process his feelings by Punching Someone About It doesn’t mean anyone else should be made to. So, yeah, he’s keeping out of it.

Peter was a student in his own world, so he’s a student now. He’s smart, he’s good at school (or he was, before Spider-Man took over his life), he likes having access to the campus labs and research facilities to work on his own tech. He likes the challenge, he likes the continuity, and he’s never been good at keeping regular working hours. Besides, Aunt May would want him to graduate. He is starting to realize that he could probably use a paying job, though--maybe there’s a Bugle out here? Maybe he could get a lab position? It might be worth looking into taking down Doom from the inside, if he can pass his classes first.

POINT OF ORIGIN: As Amora is sadly not in the MCU as of yet, she will mainly have some comic based history. She has been in the comics for a very long time so I will just be doing broad strokes. Most of her characterisation will come from Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes series where she did get a lot of development. However, her canon will work in MCU events as it is relatively easy to work things into her canon as Amora is somewhat distant with Asgardians but she is well known.
ABILITIES/SKILLS: Amora is an Asgardian goddess and as such, she possesses all natural gifts bestowed to an Asgardian as her senses and physiology is superhuman, superhuman longevity, healing factor, speaking all languages through Allspeak. What is unique to Amora is her knowledge and her skills in witchcraft and sorcery. She is noted as being one of Asgard’s most powerful magic users as well as one of the most powerful in all the Nine Realms. Her skills have allowed her to surpass Karnilla and even cause fear for Asgardians who dare come across her. With her magic, Amora can but not limited to powerful spell casting, energy projection, teleportation, levitation/flight, portal creation, glamouring/illusion casting, transmutation, paralysis, force fields, life/soul absorption, time disruption, telekinesis, telepathy, hypnosis, manipulation of the elements and astral projection to name a couple. Perhaps what is most noticeable about Amora is her supernatural beauty, her beauty bewitching Asgardians, mortals and other creatures alike. She is known for using her beauty to manipulate others into doing her bidding or acting irrationally. Many people have fought over Amora, which she finds entertaining. Having built her power on seduction, Amora has manipulated and wormed her way into the hearts of many powerful individuals who all paid the price for falling for her tactics. As such, Amora is worshipped as the goddess of love, lust, and beauty, being described as the most beautiful of Asgard and is worshipped by many. Aside from her powers, Amora is noted for her cunning and tactics, proving to be skilled in manipulation. Do not be fooled, though Amora doesn’t like to get too involved in direct conflict, Amora often surprises people with her combat skills, especially when it involves using her magic in a fight.

Amora is worshipped on Asgard as the Goddess of Love, Lust and Beauty.
She has been both a friend and an enemy to Asgard. She had conquered lands and property in Asgard enough so to make others wary.
Amora is a polarizing figure in Asgard, with some seeking her out for her advice and spells for love and beauty, while others fear her for her temper, famous for dishing out cruel punishments if she deemed worship unsatisfactory or because she is finds it fun. A famous story is that a man wished for her hand in marriage so he could bask in her beauty every moment, so she turned him into a tree, so he can always watch over her beauty.
Amora’s old estate was often surrounded by creatures that were once Asgardians which she had transformed through magic. Many were either seeking her love or those she deemed provided unsatisfactory worship.
Amora has a tense relationship with Asgard due to a deal that Odin made with the Frost Giants for a truce as long as they could have Amora. Amora was not consulted on this and was simply taken away. Using her hypnotic beauty to get herself released, she returned to Asgard on a rampage and swore to never come to their aid ever again.
Amora never did come back to their aid and thus why she was absent for many of the wars and events on Asgard.
Amora is the only known Asgardian who practices witchcraft aside of traditional Asgardian magic.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM? In public, Amora is a supporter of Doom’s regime. She believes it is nothing but spectacular. However, beneath that, its riles her and has left her seething. If anyone was to rule, it should of been her, not him. Of course, Amora is confident that she can change that. Doom wouldn’t be the first leader she had wormed her way in with.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN? Amora often spectates at the battles but she doesn’t plan to get involved. As many of Midgard’s heroes haven’t met Amora, she wants to keep her talents tucked away for as long as she possibly can. However, she is an Asgardian, so she does enjoy a good violent battle, preferably to the death.
WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER ACCEPTED THEIR JOB POSITION? WILL THEY USE IT TO GET CLOSER TO DOOM? OR WILL THEY USE IT EXPLOIT HIM? OR DO THEY SIMPLY LIKE THEIR JOB? Amora believes she was given her job due to her siren like qualities, her beauty being able to captivate a crowd and bring them in with her allure. Though she loves the adoration, she hates that she has essential became Doom’s trapped songbird. Amora of course has played the damsel who bewitches the “hero” and she plans to use her allure to get as close to Doom as possible. If not to kill him and take over, then to manipulate his actions and essentially rule through him. Amora did always have big ambitions.

POINT OF ORIGIN: okay hear me out … i’m going 90% avengers assemble (2013) as i do believe it to be the best avengers media ever on the planet. the remaining 10% is comics based! dynamics will likely be a mix of avengers assemble / 616! will try and go into more detail over here, but some most notable parts are: (a.) tony most recently co-lead the avengers team with mr. america, which consisted of falcon, hulk, hawkeye, black widow, and thor with occasional ant man and spider-man appearances. he founded it with ant-man (hank), hulk, thor and the wasp. (b.) civil war … did not happen, or rather it did but not in the way it’s most commonly showed. for him civil war was about the inhumans being registered, and the entire avengers team stuck together against it despite having to go into hiding for a bit. (c.) the team did split very briefly, but it really was only a beat and they remained pretty strong after that. tony’s been publicly iron man for ages, and has/had no plan of stepping down from the team.

he's intimidated, to the point where he will refer to him as "mr. doom sir." it's more of the fact that he has little to no information about him, and seeing how powerful of a leader he is — there's really no place for him to question the man's intentions. even if deep, deep inside, his spidey-senses are telling him that everything's not alright.

he already knows that if he even shows the slightest interest in these battles, his aunt may will find a way to nag his ears off from the afterlife about how they're dangerous. so, he does his best to ignore them. though, he would be lying if he said he didn't daydream about winning a few from time to time.

to put it simply, he needed a job that would pay and feed him. his employment at pizza poppa's has no correlation to doom, unless of course, doom isn't a fan of pineapple. anyone can say that peter deserves more, but, with the recent tragedies in his life, there was no one to believe in him. so, he settled for less. he hopes that once he graduates from university, he can find that passion for science again.

publicly, logan is more or less indifferent to the matters at hand. more or less defeated by the fact that he had finally found a home after over a century - he’s tired. with death more or less an impossibility ( fate is too cruel for that ), he’s taken the grin and bare it approach. privately, he is more willing to admit the bad taste emperor doom leaves in his mouth using particularly colorful language.

while some may abhor the battles, logan is finding it harder and harder to resist the urge to take out his frustrations by taking his pound of flesh in the arena. having lost the life he knew all over again, just like when he was a child, fury is getting bottled up with no where to go, and sometimes it feels inevitable that he will eventually give in to the temptation of the battles to help relieve the overwhelming pressure.

the position reminds him of his first real job he ever had - where his hands went from soft to rough, and where he stopped being james howlett and became the man he is today at the mine in the yukon. it keeps him busy, looking after the others working in the mine, as well as allows himself to separate himself from the situation at hand. also keeps him out of the battles, a perk that is starting to slowly become less and less appealing to the mutant.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM?: Sam sees Doom as just another dictator who thinks he knows what’s best for the world. It makes it easy that Doom is so clearly an evil caricature, and Sam can see his hopeful intentions even if he openly disagrees that one man can rule anything.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN? Sam gets it, he’s seen soldiers start fight clubs, he’s seen the way the blip changed the rules and the world, it would almost be entertaining if it didn’t have the stench of last resort all over it. There’s a difference between people choosing violence, and all other options of agency being robbed from you.

Sam Wilson stared at the sheriff badge for five minutes before asking if doom was fucking crazy. When he thought about it further he realized maybe he could make a difference or at least use the position to keep the resistance as safe as he can in Manhattan.
