Members of the Newspaper Women's Club visit President Franklin D. Roosevelt, seated at left, at his home on East 65th St. in 1934. Standing from left are Anne Lee, Ethyl Mocker, Charlotte Payne, Deborah Corle, and Marion Clyde McCarroll.
This is a very unusual picture of FDR in that it shows the braces on his legs. He normally did everything he could to conceal his disability.

The Great Chase
Summary: When Corl gets into a lee mood, Denis plays a little game with him
Lee: Corl
Ler: Denis (and a little bit of Alex)
A/N: This takes place in 2017 when Corl and Denis lived together
Tumblr media
Corl was really in a predicament right now. He had such a big lee mood he just wanted to be pinned down and wrecked with tickles to the point of tears. He wanted it bad. But with Alex not home and Denis currently recording a video, he had to suffer a bit before he could get what he wanted. Or what he needed.
He lay on his bed in the basement thinking of the ways he could indirectly ask for tickles. He didn't have the courage to flat out ask, or even say the word when in this mood. Would he tickle Denis first? No, he wanted to be tickled, not tickle someone else. Take something of his to prove him? Nah. Expose his weak spots? That's it!
Corl perked up as he found his method of getting Denis to tickle him. Butterflies danced in his stomach as he left his room to execute his plan.
Corl sprawled out on the couch, laying on his back with his arms up. He even pulled his shirt up some to expose his belly. Man, he couldn't imagine how ridiculous he looked. All for a reason equally as silly. Corl tried not to think about it, feeling his face blush pink. He ever so slightly squirmed and shifted in a longing manner. This was one of the worst lee moods he's ever had.
Corl's heartbeat quickened as he heard footsteps on the stairs. Denis was done recording! This was the moment of truth. He reached the bottom of the stairs and walked over to the couch, surprised to see a pink-faced Corl laying stretched out.
"Oh, hey Corl. What's going on here?" He didn't understand why his friend was positioned this way. Did he want something?
"Just chilling here, why?" Corl wasn't going to tell Denis that he wanted to be tickled, he would have to figure that out.
"Well, are you going to move?" Denis asked. Corl realized that this was his chance.
"Nope! You'll have to make me move!" Corl decided to be stubborn so his best friend would get the hint. Luck was on his side as Denis stared at him with a deadpan expression, although playfulness shimmered in his eyes.
"You know Corl," Denis began, "You're awfully exposed to be acting all proud like this." He walked over in a way that somehow intimidated Corl, who already felt tingly despite not even being threatened with tickles yet.
"You really think with your arms up and your belly out that I don't know what you want? It's obvious you want me to tickle you~" Corl squeaked and giggled at the word.
"Wahhahahahait, Denihihihihis! Ahahahaha!" Jeez, Denis hadn't even touched him and he already couldn't keep his laughs in. Corl knew anticipation killed him, but this was just embarrassing.
"Denis? Who's this Denis guy you speak of? It's only you, and the…tickle monster!"
Corl squealed as the tickle monster grabbed his sides and began squeezing and clawing at them. He giggled hysterically, squirming and flopping at the sensations.
"Heheh, where are you going? You wanted a visit from the tickle monster," Denis teased as his friend struggled and laughed beneath him. Corl squirmed so much that he fell off the couch. He took his chance to flee to his room with Denis in pursuit. Before he even reached the stairs, Corl was caught.
"Hey, don't run from the tickle monster!" he taunted after tickling his friend to the floor. Denis targeted his shoulders and neck first, occasionally tickling under his chin and poking his belly.
"Hahahahaha! Stop saying that! Ahahaha!!" Corl said through his giggles. He didn't really care though; he was just overjoyed that he was actually being tickled. But then he felt it stop suddenly. Was that really it?
"I'll give you 15 seconds to run and hide," Denis told him.
"Are we making this a game?" Corl asked hopefully. Now that he thought about it, he really enjoyed the chase.
"Sure! Now go before I get impatient!" Denis teased. And with that, Corl ran off again, upstairs this time. As he found a place to hide, he realized he was beginning to love this game.
Denis was left alone downstairs. After 15 seconds had passed, he went upstairs where he knew Corl was. What he didn't know was which room he was in.
"Corl, where are you~?" he sang, wandering into the bathroom first. He looked behind the shower curtain, nothing. Denis left, going into his room next.
"I'm gonna getcha, Corl~" he teased from the hall.
Again, he looked all over: under his bed, in the closet. He still couldn't find him. Finally, he walked over to Alex's room.
Corl heard the footsteps enter the room he was in. He was filled with anticipation and excitement, but stayed as quiet as possible. He could see Denis's feet walk over to the closet. Before opening the door, he sang another tease.
"When I find you, I'll tickle you till you can't think at all~"
Corl covered his face in embarrassment at this. Corl's face went an even redder shade as he heard the closet door shut and his friend's footsteps getting closer and closer. Denis was going to look under the bed! Butterflies raged in Corl's stomach.
After checking Alex's closet, Denis crouched by his bed and looked underneath it. There, he found a blushing Corl, who squealed when he saw Denis.
"I've gotcha!" he exclaimed while grabbing the boy by his ankle, tickling his foot and dragging him out in the open.
"HAHAhahaha!! Noooo!" Corl was back to giggling as he was caught again.
Denis attacked his more sensitive spots this time, going for his sides and ribs. Corl squealed boyishly at this.
"OHOHOHAHAHAHA!! OH MY GAHAHAHAHD!!" Intense as it was, this wasn't quite what he was after. But he knew they weren't even halfway done.
Denis noticed that Corl's shirt had ridden up a little from all his squirming. He took the opportunity to scribble around his bare belly, slightly amping up Corl's laughter.
"HEHEHEHEYYYY!! EEEEKK!" He cried through ticklish laughter.
"Hahaha, does it tickle? Huh?" Denis teased once again, also enjoying the game and tickling Corl, who couldn't even respond because his mind was flooded with happiness. All he could do was just squeal and wriggle in place as he felt the wonderful tickles all over is bare sides and stomach.
It was over momentarily as Denis let him go again.
"Okay Corl, this time I'll chase you. I'll give you a 5 second head start. Go!"
Corl darted out of the room and down the stairs once more. It took him about the time he was given to get down the stairs before he heard Denis rushing down. Corl let out another squeal as he ran to the back door and out of the house. He dared to look back, seeing Denis dash out the door after him. Corl giggled and picked up his speed. He only got so far before he was tackled to the ground.
"AHAHAHAHAHA!! NOHOHOHO! NOOOOOO!!" Corl yelped as he fell into the grass.
Denis dug into the poor boy's armpits, which happened to be his death spot.
The blush on Corl's face spread to his ears as one of his favorite tickle spots was attacked. He squirmed and laughed his heart out.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!! ABDNDJFNSJDA!!" Corl tried to speak, but it just came out in giggly gibberish.
He was still craving more tickles, especially on his tummy, after the fact. Denis ceased the armpit tickles, not knowing this.
"You good?" The tall man asked, letting Corl giggle off the phantom sensations.
"Heh, I'm fine, just not quite…er, satisfied," he stammered, avoiding eye contact at all costs. Denis listened and acted. He was going to wreck Corl.
"Well, then maybe I'll have to up my game a little," Denis slowly rolled up Corl's shirt as he added, "All this chasing and tickling you is making the tickle monster hungry~"
The boy knew exactly what was coming. Already giggling, he shut his blue eyes, bracing himself for the worst.
Denis then began nibbling on Corl's stomach with quick raspberries in between. He burst into euphoric laughter even before contact. Denis felt extra teasy at this point, making "nom" noises as he nibbled away at Corl's tummy. Even the grass tickled his back and his sides as he wriggled on the ground. He only knew one thing: this was exactly what he was after. Tears of joy poured from his eyes as the tickles continued.
Denis lifted his head back up and lightly scritched up and down Corl's bare stomach and sides, earning sweet giggles with a squeak here and there. Denis was giggling with him now, just wanting to take in the sweet laughter of his best friend.
"Hahaha, you're so ticklish! You just love this, don't you?" Corl's giggling increased at the teases.
"Hahahahehehehe! Yehehehes!" He admitted through giggles. Denis laughed some more at this; he thought it was adorable. He instinctively tickled a little harder, craving Corl's sweet laughter.
"AhaHAhaha!! Heheheheyy! AHAHahaha!!" Corl arched his back, accidentally exposing his stomach more. He blushed harder, but he didn't mind. He was in a state of ticklish paradise.
"Oh, you want me to get that belly? Is that it?~" Denis teased. Corl covered his blushing face with his hands, exposing himself even more. He couldn't even look at Denis because he was so embarrassed and flustered. It was true, though. He really wanted tummy tickles in particular.
"I'll take that as a, 'yes tickle monster, please tickle my belly!'" Denis was really going at it with the teases as he tickled Corl's sensitive stomach, right in the center of his core. Not even he could deny that he loved it. His loud laughter became high pitched and squeaky.
"Hey Corl, what's your favorite fruit?" Denis asked him suddenly. Where was this going?
"HAHAHAhahaHAHA!! Ahahahapples!! Whyhyhyhy!?" Corl managed through his laughter. Why with the random question?
"You like apples? What about raspberries?" And with that, Denis returned to blowing raspberry after raspberry on Corl's poor stomach.
"EEEEEKKKK!!! AHHAHAHAHA!! ABSJCNDNCNEFKS!!" He quickly melted into the tickly vibrations as he squirmed, squealed, and laughed up a storm.
Denis had to stop to laugh at the silly noises Corl was making. They both had to admit though: it was pretty cute, a grown up man crumbling to something as innocent as tickling. He could think about that later, though. For now, he had to focus on finishing Corl off.
For this big finish, Denis took a deep breath, began tickling his friend's armpits, and blew the biggest, strongest raspberry possible right in the middle of his tummy. Corl's eyes went wide. He screeched before being thrown into manic, hysterical laughter.
"AHHHHHH!!! AAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! OHHHHOHOHOHMYGOHOHOD!!!" That was simply all he could manage to get out. He wriggled and kicked frantically, driven completely insane by the sensations he was feeling.
Once Denis ran out of air, he finally let up on Corl and pulled the red, giggly puddle's shirt back down. Said puddle was still giggling and blushing himself silly after it was over. He held his belly with one hand, using the other to cover his face.
Denis began to worry if he'd gone a bit too far when Corl kept giggling for a minute.
"Was that too much?" He asked. As the giggling Corl calmed down, Denis let out a sigh of relief.
"No, that was perfect!" He giggled, "Thank you so much! I don't think I've ever laughed like that before!"
"Glad I could help! But next time, just ask me to tickle you," Denis requested. Corl blushed a little as he tried to picture himself doing so.
"That's easier said than done," he replied shyly, "Honestly, I can't even say that word when…" He looked away from his friend as he trailed off, embarrassed.
"When you want to be tickled?" Denis finished for him, embarrassing Corl a little more.
"Y-yeah," He still couldn't look at Denis, who just chuckled.
"Come on, let's go back inside," the taller one said at last.
When the two entered the house, Alex was sitting on the couch. The sight startled Denis and Corl.
"Where have you been?" Alex asked them. Corl looked nervously at Denis, who spilled everything.
"Oh, Corl just had the tickling of a lifetime," he teased, "I chased him and tickled him all over while you were gone."
"I thought so; I could hear him squealing and laughing. Sounds like you had fun then," Alex replied, amused.
"Corl had fun too," Denis chimed. Corl's face flushed before he gently pushed his friend, who simply pinched Corl's side. He squeaked at this.
"Alright! I've had enough for now!" Alex and Denis just laughed at the ticklish boy's response.
"Maybe next time you'll invite me?" The British man suggested. Denis lit up while Corl's eyes widened slightly.
"Yeah, of course!" Denis winked knowingly at Alex.
"N-next time?" Corl's voice was barely audible. He'd be lying if he said he was dreading it, though. Quite contrary, he was excited for the next time.
"Yeah, we're definitely doing this again," Denis replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Uh, whatever," Corl stuttered, still smiling as he headed back towards his room, "Thanks, Denis."
"You mean, 'thanks tickle monster'" Denis corrected.
Corl sat on his bed that evening, unable to get the cheerful memory of earlier that day out of his head. He loved every second of it. He loved his friends tickling him. He loved laughing and being silly. He wouldn't mind at all if they that more often. Corl felt the playful fluttering in his stomach as he imagined the next ambush. He was so caught up in his mind that he jumped a little when he heard a knock.
"Come in!" He answered. Then Denis and Alex appeared in his room.
"Hey Corl," Denis spoke, "So, are you ready for round two? This time, another tickle monster has come to play!"
He and Alex slowly got closer to their prey. Corl hadn't expected more today! He wasn't complaining, however.
"Haha! Guys, WAHAHAIT!!" Denis had begun to tickle strategically at his stomach as Alex dug into his armpits.
This was going to be a long night.
