consequence of choices
it's with more apprehension that she could've expected that miso steps inside the audition room. out of all the recent experiences she's had in legacy, this one should be the most familiar, yet, it's the one that makes butterflies fly in her stomach, makes her even slightly nauseous.
"hi." she greets the staff and her senior very politely, in a tone that's very different from the one she uses around her friends, almost demure. the greeting is accompanied by a few lows bows. "i'm jung miso who used to promote under the name chanel jung as a child actress." she introduces herself, shoulders and spine straight, standing in a posture that she can let the casting crew observe her properly. she knows all those things matter.
yes, it matters to her too. and this is why she feels nervous. this is everything she worked for during the last few years. she hadn't expected that her choice to continue with future dreams would hinder her from trying out for a lead role. while she has come to terms with the decisions she's made, she promised herself not to make the same mistake again.
"i come to audition for a supporting role." she explains. she's worried the judges might ask her why she's not auditioning for a lead role instead, considering her past experience, but none of that comes.
it's a relief. short lived however, for they explain the audition consists of an improvisation with kim yoojung.
her first audition in a long while has to be a improvisation? butterflies fly a little while she keeps a straight face and nods at the instructions.
anybody who knows her would expect her to go for a rival plot. it's the first thing that comes to her mind too. it's an easy thing to do and she knows people would expect her to play such roles considering her visuals. it's too easy she thinks. after a couple of minutes of self-reflection, she styles her hair in two side low braids, wishing she also had glasses at disposition to complete the transformation. but that would do.
she sits next to kim yoojung, shoulders slightly slouched. the hair and change of posture should be enough to change her impression enough. she'd finish convincing them with her skills
"i'm tired" says the actress.
"tell me about it." miso says on a whiny tone. she scrunches her nose in a childish expression. "we have so many work to do. what do they think we are? machines? math paper, english paper, dissertation and the academy... don't get me started on this. i didn't sleep at all last night to catch up on everything." she continues to complain, listing everything rather quickly, expressing her frustration with her whole body.
it takes one heartbeat for yoojung to reply, to catch up on what miso is trying to go for. "well, if you didn't sleep in class you wouldn't have such a hard time." the tone is of reproach.
the reply makes miso want to smile, but that would be breaking out of character. she mentally thanks the experienced actress for throwing her a ball so easy to catch. while her tone remains whiny, a note of cuteness slips in. "class is the only moment i can sleep, i swear i try my best heejin-ie~" she pouts and leans towards the girl.
finally the other relaxes a bit and snorts. "i've never seen somebody sleep at the standing desks."
now that she's fully in character it doesn't take long for miso to reply. she turns her body slightly towards the girl and uses both hands to open her eyes. "i'm currently practicing to sleep with my eyes opened." she says. "i'm gonna be like this but i'll be sleeping."
the actress laughs. "you're really something else."
the scene could end there, but miso doesn't want it to. she needs to make a longer impression, to show them more. so she wraps her arms around the closest arm of yoojung. "heejinie~ speaking of which... could you let me peek at your ethics essay~" now this is full on aegyo speech she's using.
"again?" the other exclaims.
perfect. "please heejinie~ i promise i'll do one of your homework in return. please?" she rubs her hands together.
"if i you did my homework everytime you promised to, i wouldn't be doing a single thing this year." the other reminds her, serious.
"... i'll treat you to something good." she tries to look as pitiful as possible.
the other seems to consider her offer, then a smile appears on her lips. "fine" she rolls her eyes and miso beams at her.
"heejinie you're the best."
and scene. she thanks the actress and the staff before exiting the room. hoping she's done enough.
