Best Ayurvedic Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder which can be     serious and life-threatening. It is characterized by an abnormally low     weight and an intense fear of gaining weight.
People with anorexia limit their number of calories and     due to this, they extremely restrict their diet. They, thus, lose weight     but their body’s weight-height ratio is not proportionate.
Anorexia     nervosa often occurs in teenage years or early adulthood, but it can     sometimes begin before teenage or in later life.
In this, the person does excessive exercise or purges     the food he has eaten by intentional vomiting or misuse of laxatives.
Anorexia isn’t really about food, it often involves     emotional challenges and can be life threatening sometimes. It is an     obsessive eating disorder.
A research has shown that females are not the only     victims of the disease. It is very common among transgender also.
CAUSES
The exact cause of anorexia is not known as it is a complex condition. People suffering from anorexia actually develops a negative body image. Thus, it is a combination of various psychological, biological and environmental factors:
Psychological: Person     with anorexia may be suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. This     makes him follow more strict diet and forgo food despite being hungry.     They may also show signs of extreme anxiety.
Biological: There     are some genes which make the person more prone to anorexia. Although it’s     not yet clear which genes are involved, but it can be linked to it.
Environmental: In     today’s world, thinness is preferred. A person becomes more influential     and smart if he/she is thin. So peer pressure helps fuel the desire of     getting slim, especially among young girls.

People of any age can develop anorexia. However, it is more common among girls. There are certain factors which put people at a greater risk for developing anorexia.
Following are the risk factors:

Adolescents and young adults
Girls at any age as they are more conscious about their     body figure
Excessive dieting can later lead to anorexia
More common in people of certain professions like     models, runners, gymnasts, wrestlers and dancers
Some big changes in life like getting an admission into     a college, new school or job, relationship breakup
History of psychiatric disorders
History of sexual abuse
PREVENTION
There is no proven way to prevent anorexia nervosa. But     a thorough examination by the physician can help in looking out for     symptoms of the disease. This helps in diagnosis and thus early treatment     of the disease.
AYURVEDIC TREATMENT OF ANOREXIA NERVOSA
In Ayurveda, anorexia     nervosa is called ARUCHI. It is caused by aggravation of     vata, pitta and kapha disorders and by the increase of rajas and tamas     gunas leading to increased fear, anger and stress. This causes indigestion     of food as ama forms. It blocks gastrointestinal channels and thus causes     aruchi.
There are different methods in Ayurveda which are used     for treatment of Anorexia Nervosa. Following are the ways :
Kavala and gandoosh
It is also called oil pulling. In this, the oil is     being hold in the mouth for sometime.
It cleanses toxins in the mouth and thereby stimulates     appetite.
Deepana and Pachana
It focuses on balancing the digestive system as it is     imbalanced in anorexia
Some herbs and a particular diet is used that helps in     digestion of ama, thereby increasing the digestive fire.
Abhyanga
In this, massage of whole body is done with warm oils.
Oil is applied from top of the head to bottom of the     feet
It helps in reducing stress levels
Shirodhara
It is a technique in which liquid is poured by someone     on the patient’s head
The liquid is either herbal oil or a decoction
It is sometimes combined with abhyanga
It helps in lowering down anxiety levels
Virechana
It is a part of panchkarma therapy
It is a controlled drug induced purging process which     eliminates toxins from the body, thereby unblocking the body channels.     This cause an increase in appetite.
CHANDIGARH AYURVEDA CENTRE’S (CAC) MEDICATIONS
Here are some of the medications of Chandigarh Ayurvedic Centre which are used in Anorexia nervosa :
Brain relaxant churna
This churna helps in rejuvenating brain cells and     increases the concentration by relaxing the brain.
It works as an anti-depressant and cures indigestion.
Some of the herbs which are present in the churna are:     Amla (Emblica officinalis), Sonth (Zingiber officinale), Pippali (Piper     longum), Marich (Piper nigrum), Haldi (Curcuma longa), Bala (Sida     cordifolia), Suddha Gandhak, Lauha Bhasma .

Thanks Dani!! And don’t worry about it, I love this stuff. I’ll try to post a new prompt list soon for ya ;)
2. “They hide paper towels in their room and I don’t know why.”
“Hey, Kilo. I just found out something weird.”
“What now, Neff?”
“No no, listen. Thia hides paper towels in her room, and I don’t know why.”
Kilo paused, and put her glass of juice back down onto the table. “Come again?”
Neff just nodded.
“I... You’re right that is kinda weird. How about we just ask her?”
“No wait! I don’t want her to know I was snooping!” Too late, Kilo was already leaving the Asylum’s kitchen. “Kilo!” Neff hissed.
“Hey, Thia!” the big blonde called. “I want to ask you something real quick.”
Thia’s head popped up from the couch, where she was watching TV with Panzer. “Yeah?”
Kilo ignored Neff tugging at her sleeve. “Why do you hide paper towels in your room?”
Thia scoffed. “What a tactless question. I will hear no more about this.” Then she snuggled back down under Panzer’s arm, ignoring them.
16. “You know I’d do anything for you.”
Gross ducked behind a crumbling concrete wall as the hostile mercenaries opened fire. This should have been a quick and easy raid, but someone must have tipped them off. It was out on the outskirts, though, so at least there was a low chance of collateral damage.
“Kilo! I need some smoke cover,” he called over the radio.
“Ask nicely,” came a curt reply.
Gross huffed. “Please.”
He couldn’t stay mad, though, when her giggle floated over the airways. “Coming right up! You know I’d do anything for you.”
“Likewise. Thanks, babe,” he answered softly as thick gray smoke started to pour out of a broken window a short way ahead of him, blocking the view of the enemy. He readied his hardlight sword, crouched in a runner’s stance, then launched forwards.
The raid was pretty easy after all.
30. “It’s two a.m., why are you next to me?”
Omni stirred from his sleep as something started moving in his bed. He opened his eyes, though they protested, to find Neff trying to slip under his blanket.
“Neff, it’s two a.m., why are you next to me?”
“There’s a thunderstorm. I couldn’t sleep.”
Sure enough, as Omni paused to listen, he could hear heavy rain beating again the window. In the distance, though not the distant distance, thunder rumbled menacingly.
“Can you really not sleep through this? The rain is actually really calming.”
Another roll of thunder made Neff flinch and bury her face into Omni’s side. He sighed, and wrapped his arms around her. “Okay. Stay as long as you like.”
“Does the thunder really not bother you at all?”
“Nah. I used to sleep outside through worse storms. I guess it’s... it’s just a lot better than what I grew up with.”
She hummed, but didn’t say anything more and was soon fast asleep.
47. “What if I prove you wrong?”
They had all barely met, boot camp hadn’t even begun, and already Ghast was boasting. “I was called The Dutchman for a reason! I’ve killed hundreds. None were able to defeat me in hand-to-hand.”
“Really?”
“Yes really! With knives, I’m unbeatable.”
“Oh?” Thia crooked an eyebrow. “And what if I prove you wrong?”
Ghast just laughed. “There’s some confidence behind that pretty mug of yours, darling, but confidence won’t help you.”
“Mug?” Thia appeared more insulted at the crass language than the actual implied insult. “How about I teach your mug some respect?”
A few minutes later, they were facing each other in the sparring room. Each held a practice knife that wouldn’t cut, but would deliver a painful electric shock on contact with skin. They were both stripped down as much as possible while still remaining decent. The other six squad members stood to the side, quietly placing bets.
One of the instructors on base was acting as referee. At his signal, Ghast rushed at Thia, low and incredibly fast. He swiped, and had it been any normal person, he would’ve won right then.
But Thia was far from normal. She sidestepped with a dancer’s grace and with two small movements, used Ghast’s own momentum to send him tumbling out of the ring. The ref gave her a point. Ghast stood, fuming silently at the instant humiliation.
He hadn’t taken her seriously at all. The second round, he didn’t advance. Rather, he was pushed back by Thia’s sudden torrent of attacks. She swung her stun knife so quickly, the others had trouble keeping up. The attacks seemed random and flailing, but Ghast could feel the intent, the pattern behind them. All her blows were raining towards his abdomen and head, forcing him to protect his vitals. But they also came too quickly for a counterattack, and she came in at steadily wider angles, forcing him to move further to deflect her strikes. It was exhausting, but lasted for mere moments before she landed a graze along his shoulder. His weapon arm seized up, and she struck him in the chest with an open palm, sending him sprawling to the ground yet again.
Match point. They took up their positions for a third go.
“Alright, no more Mr. Nice Guy!” Ghast declared. He jabbed his knife towards Thia’s face with the speed and accuracy only a trained killer can show. But this technically perfect move looked almost childish as Thia brushed his arm aside with her off hand, leaned in, and jabbed him under the ribs with her stun knife. Ghast yelped, then collapsed into a heap. Thia huffed, her point proven.
61. “All I was doing was looking for you.”
Neff landed hard next to the ground team hiding in the jungle. “There you are!”
Omni was the first to greet her. “What, you stop for dinner on your way here?”
“All I was doing was looking for you!” And it was true. The team was operating under total stealth. No powerful radio signals, no signal flares, not even a flashlight pointed at the sky. It had taken Neff nearly an hour to find their hiding spot. “On the plus side, you guys are really well hidden.”
“And we need to stay that way.” Gross spoke up. “Look alive, the next truck is coming. Ready on the smoke, Kilo. Panzer in position.”
They had spent the last week slowly convincing the local PMC that there was a vengeful ghost in the jungle outside their isolated bunker. It sounded silly, but a frontal assault on such a heavily armored and well-defended base would never succeed. Psychological warfare was an obvious next step. Well, to Gross it was, at any rate. The rest had been skeptical at first, but it seemed to be working.
“Smoke.”
Kilo opened up her arm, and pale gray smoke gushed out, quickly blanketing the area in what looked like spooky fog. The fog rolled out of the trees down across the road just as a truck full of soldiers drew close. A quick hack from Omni and its engine cut out. Some troops jumped out of the back and pointed their guns vaguely in the direction where the fog seemed to be coming from. Even from here, the team could see the rifles shaking in the PMC troops’ hands. Panzer stood to his full seven foot armored height and activated his hardlight overshields. A faint blue glow picked out his silhouette in the fog. The PMC men started screaming at the driver, who was trying his damnedest to get the truck started again, not realizing Omni was keeping the starter from firing. Gunfire cracked as the panic reached a fever pitch and they opened fire at Panzer’s ghostly form. The bullets ricocheted off; he didn’t even flinch.
A few moments later, the Myriad pulled back. Panzer vanished into the dark jungle, the fog dissipated, and the truck suddenly sprang to life.
“Keep an ear to their comms,” Gross said to Omni. “I think they’ll be panicked enough to start pulling their troops inside anytime soon. If they do, we’ll step up a bit. Do stuff to keep them awake at night. Then when they’re exhausted and running off fear and coffee, we’ll strike.”
73. “Why do you want Taco Bell now?”
“C’mon! Let’s go!” Neff was practically bouncing as she pulled Omni towards the garage.
“But why? Why do you want Taco Bell now?” a very bewildered, and still groggy, Omni asked.
“Because sometimes you just want something cheap and tasty and they have good breakfasts now let’s go!”
“You’re such a weirdo.”
“But you love me,” she grinned at him.
He sighed, and leaned in to kiss her. “Yeah, I sure do.”
82. “There were two so I figured one was mine-”
“Kilo what the hell!” Gross shouted from his bed.
“There were two so I figured one was mine-”
“That’s not how it works!” He cut her off as he leaned over and tried to grab his left leg out of her arms. “Give me my leg back!”
“Give me my smoothie back!”
“It was an accident! I didn’t know you were gonna drink both! I said I was sorry!”
“Turnabout’s fair play,” she teased, turning one of his favorite phrases against him.
He swung himself out of bed and hopped angrily after her. She ran from the room, giggling like mad.
84. “Just a bit more-”
Neff entered Omni’s basement workshop to the sound of rhythmic thumping accented by Omni grunting with effort. “Just a bit more...”
Neff poked her head around the corner to find him wrist-deep in a gun. Well, the side of a gun. She didn’t recognize it from training a few days ago. “What’s that?”
He jumped at the surprise voice from behind him, and pinched his fingers in the process. “Ah! Ow ow ow ow get out!” He yanked his arm back and managed to free his hand.
“Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. I was just bored and got curious.”
“Yeah, no worries,” Omni replied as he sheepishly rubbed his hand. “I was just experimenting on one of the SAWs they had at the armory. It’s an older model, so the quartermaster didn’t mind donating it to the cause.”
“Oh, neat. So what are you doing to it?”
Her eyes glazed over as Omni launched into an excited rant about the characteristics of the gun and the specifics of the modifications he was making. But she caught enough to basically understand that he had improved the bullet-firing part and that he could switch to hardlight bullets on the fly. “I don’t know if it’ll actually be much use in the field, but I’m having fun with it. A nice experiment if nothing else.”
She nodded, relieved he was finished. She stretched her arms, flexing her wings. “Well, I better-”
“Hold on, were those wings always there?” He moved to get a closer look, taking her by the shoulders to turn her around.
“Uh yeah, but I take them off for training. The instructors got mad at me.”
“This is incredible!” Neff almost choked at his excitement. “Hey, I got an idea. Do you mind if I take these off and get a closer look?”

[[You know what? Eff it, without rhyme nor reason other than my latest, newly discovered interest: Yuyuko and Mima as Armored Core pilotes. What would their builds, tactics and reputations be? Quench this robo-flavored thirst! Quench it!]]
Recordsnear the end of the Controller's time are a bit spotty, but the big names arewell documented elsewhere. Arena playbacks are also easier… Lot of Raven pilotsat that time you could read about. If you've come to me though, I guess youwant to know about those two. Yeah, Iran mission control for Ghost and Hate. Yes, it's true that they never hit theArena, and yes, I know that they just happenedto run afoul other Ravens in the field waymore often than could be a coincidence… Look, even if the rumors about them being a Controller hit-team were true, Ididn't know anything about it! Job comes in the Cortex, we runners just grabthe contract and that pairs us with pilots, alright? The payouts were too goodto pass up and if no one else wanted to work with them, shit, I might as well! And under my watch, they completed the job 17 out of 19 runs! Find me anotherrunner that can claim that sort of record! I was damn good…
Whatever. You're not a cop or journo, that much is apparently, so you just want to hearthe story, yeah? Alright, I'll tell you all about 'em.
Ghostwas a real class act; she was elegant, smooth, a real professional. Softspoken.Polite too! She even thanked me for mission updates while in the field. Notsomething you forget in my line of work, let me tell you! Naturally, Hate washer polar opposite: crass and loud. Always yelling! Can't remember a time shespoke that didn't ride an angry expletive. When they talked together, itsounded like a parent with a badly behaved child… But they were good together.Run the numbers some time: find me another pilot or team that crossed swordswith other Ravens and survived more than three times. You won't find them, other than him, of course… But theguy that took down the whole damn system and opened the roof doesn't count.
Openup your data slate for data transfer. Don't give me that look, ya mook. Justwant to send you their AC's specs. Yeah, I got the last maintenance readoutsfor Ayakashi and Breaker. Alright… There. Breaker'seasier, so bring that up first. Slick, right? Hover legs and core fromMirage, nice quick arms. It was fast, even for hover models. Just how Hate liked it! She was a lightning bolt; Breaker would come flying out of nowhereand was in your face until you were scrap. Pull up the weapons loadouts. Seethat? On the right arm; that's a Wa-FINGER! Five barreled auto-cannon! Compactand deadly and barely enough ammo to last for six seconds of sustained fire. That's all she needed in close-quarters though. She got close, opened up withthe finger and that was lights out! She cycled the other gear, but the usualwas a pair of shoulder-mounted chainguns and a grenade launcher in the lefthand. Breaker was brutal…
AndAyakashi was art. Look at the partsand tell me what you see… Weird, huh? Mishmash of light and heavy parts, aterrible radiator, and weak thrusters. See it yet? It's the efficiency, man! Ayakashi was a dancer! Ghost would get up above you and float all day long! Shedanced through the air, just fast enough to foil FCS, and let the poor foolbelow panic and waste their ammo. When they were out, she'd open up the twinnedmulti-missile launchers on Ayakashi's backand let loose. Later on, Ghost added relation missile launchers on eachshoulder for extra firepower. The slug throwers in each hand were almost anafterthought.
EitherAC was a serious threat on their own; as a team, they were a nightmare. The rawdamage they put out could melt even the heavy-weight tankers. Hey, speaking ofmelting… You might want to invest in a new data slate, man. Really should becareful who you let pass you data! Never know who’s going to wreck your OS... On the upside though, you just bought a roundof drinks for everyone in the bar! Thanks, pal!

5. Power Lace
"Power Lace". The creators of these shoes you see think that our world is getting better every day. The more advanced appliances, more advanced houses, automobiles. But for some reasons, few people are engaged with the production of advanced shoes. Most of their lives people spend in footwear and it's time to improve that teeth. That's how "Power Lace" slippers were bought. Outside they're virtually no different from any other sports shoe. The secret of uniqueness lies in the technical content. These are shoes that fit optimally to the leg. The wearer doesn't need to bend down and bend constantly to correct the position of the laces. "Power Lace" is equipped with an innovative system that independently adjust the shoes under the foot. All you have to do to naviti your shoelaces again is to just adjust their position when you put these shoes on for the first time. From now on when the slippers are on your feet, they will fit perfectly to them. When the shoe is not on the foot, the laces are loosened so that inserting the foot is as easy and convenient as for example in house slippers. We have already said that "Power Laces" are simple and discreet designed. But this is definitely an advantage. Because not everyone needs fantastic shoes with a futuristic look.
6. Nike Hyperadapt 1.0
Tumblr media
"Nike Hyperadapt 1.0". A few years ago Mike showed off it's first sport shoes with an electronic adjustment system. It provides a perfect few position for the foot. In total, the development took 10 years. When you open the box, you'll see that the kit includes a few charger. It connects directly to the boot. This can hardly be considered a disadvantage as the shoes must be loaded approximately once every two weeks. At any convenient time, you can find out the load of the used night hyper-adapt 1.0 pair. To do this press any button and then pay attention to the color the sensor last blinked with. Blue indicates the load is full. The light will flash in the middle if the load is approximately half. And when the shoe needs to be charged, the light turns red. Interestingly, the slippers automatically adjust as soon as the foot is placed inside and the heel touches the insult. You only need to adjust your shoes for the first time and then they'll remember the position you chose and return to it each time you wear them. The developers of "Nike Hyper-adapt 1.0" state that this is just the first step in creating an ultra comfortable and print or shoe. The cost of these sneakers is around 720$ dollars.

Women's Athletic Wear ads in Korea
It's improving, as more women are starting to be interested in sports and fitness from the "strong and invincible empowered" perspective. Particularly brands like Nike and Adidas, are finally leaning more towards this message, where Korean ads feature female athletes (ie some well-know boxers, taekwondo champions, runners, dancers) doing their thing and looking awesome while doing their thing awesomely. But some ads are still a "look at me in these expensive leggings and specially designed trainers and sports bra while i recline on this couch looking cute and posing like any other model would but not actually showing you me doing athleticky-things in this outfit..." That or doing downward dog and cobra stretch. Like isn't the purpose of athletic wear to serve both function and form? People wanna look cute and sexy WHILE they work out, but still feel comfortable and well-supported by the materials so that the workouts can be completed successfully and enjoyably. Its not just Korea, and some western ads do this too. But its like 90% of the ads i see so i wanted write about this observation. Like I am more attracted to buying that new design of the pink adidas high-impact sports bra because in the ad i see women running and sweating and lifting and jumping rope and bouncing all over, working up a sweat looking boss af, then the one of a girl just posing next to a window doing nothing showing off how skinny she is. I'm more convinced that the first one would be a valuable purchase that fits my needs as a consumer. Advertising in itself is fucked up anyways. I love shopping but i hate how ads and marketing manipulate society which in turn also manipulates me.

Huffington Post: A New Physics Discovery Could Make You A Faster Runner
When it comes to race day, runners may have favorite moisture-wicking gear, a stopwatch and tunes to help get that coveted personal record.
But physicists say running at your top speed may actually be a lot simpler. It all comes down to the force of your foot striking the ground ― and that’s about it.
After studying the physics behind some of the world’s fastest runners, researchers came up with a new model they say could make anyone faster. It may help injured runners recover faster, too.
The researchers developed an equation that calculates two forces: The total force of the shin, ankle and foot striking the ground, and the total force of the rest of the body striking the ground. The method, which they detailed in an article published recently in the Journal of Experimental Biology, can predict how fast an athlete will run.
“We’ve known for quite some time that fast people are fast because they’re able to hit the ground harder in relation to how much they weigh,” explained the study’s co-author, Peter Weyand, director of the Locomotor Performance Laboratory at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
But Weyand and his team were looking to better understand why it was that some people are able to hit the ground harder than others. The new equation makes the answer a lot clearer, with fewer measurements than previous models.
One needs to know three things in order to predict a runner’s speed: How much time a runner’s foot spends on the ground, how much time the runner is in the air, and how quickly the ankle is moving when the runner hits the ground.
These measurements reveal a lot that can help the runner go faster, identify an uneven stride that may lead to injury, or find ways to lessen the impact on joints, Weyand said.
Very basic physics lead to very accurate results.
The researchers collected data from 42 runners of varying abilities: Olympic sprinters, high school track athletes and ballet dancers who cross-train by running. They used high-speed motion cameras to measure participants’ gaits and force patterns.
Using basic physics, the researchers generated predictions about running speed based on the impact forces of each step.
They found that a simple two-mass model ― based on the force resulting from the impact of the lower leg (shin, ankle and foot) on the ground, and the force that lifts and supports the rest of the body ― was the equation that most accurately predicted speed, study co-author Laurence Ryan, a physicist and research engineer at SMU’s Locomotor Performance Laboratory, said in a statement. “This was true to within a millisecond, every single time. And we did it hundreds of times.”
This may help runners at all levels.
The new model can help runners at any performance level. But it’s likely to have the biggest impact on sprinters who already run with a very specific stride to get the most force out of each step.
“It’s actually a fairly unnatural action,” Craig Pickering, a British former sprinter who won bronze in the 100-meter relay team at the 2007 World Championships, previously told The Guardian. “As soon as the foot hits the floor you pick it up again in front of the body as quick as you can for the next step. Nothing happens behind the body.”
For distance runners and other non-sprinters, striking the ground harder could lead to joint injuries ― especially step after step for the thousands of strides you take on a run. Non-sprinters typically want to minimize the impact of their feet striking the ground.
But this new simplified model may help runners to be able to do that, too, Weyand explained, because it could help those runners better understand how to maximize the efficiency of their strides.
If you’re a weekend warrior trying to up your 10K game, you’ll still need someone familiar with these models to make tweaks to your stride that will actually increase your speed (or a software program to interpret the data for you) and a way of accurately measuring the forces you strike the ground with. For now, that means having access to a performance lab that can do those analyzes for you. Weyand said he suspects that in the future, video from a smartphone and a fairly simple software program may be able to do the same thing.
Eventually, for athletic training and some aspects of rehab, the research means runners will be able to get higher-quality feedback on their strides much less expensively than they can now.

A New Physics Discovery Could Make You A Faster Runner
