25. Which idea came to you first in [x fic]?

i don't remember if i've said on here but there were two big ones...one was the scene in chapter 3 where dean and cas talk in the car. in the original conception of this fic, there wasn't any of the romance/smut stuff after because it was going to be gen. it was also taking place concurrently/directly after what is now the "dean and jack watch movies" scene. i had initially pictured it as them having that talk as dean taught jack how to shoot pool, and then dean hanging back while the rest of his family played pool with jack and having a shorter, quieter moment with cas by the bar or something while they watched. in the end the fic wound up being mostly bunker-centric (alas!) bc i couldn't justify pool when they were on the clock re: michael, and the order shifted so that the jack bit took place later and dean and cas got to get busy in the car, but the main tone and even some of the dialogue stayed true to the inital conception

the OTHER "first idea" for this fic was cas and john's confrontation. originally i think cas's line was something like, "i'm going to give you something your family never could: the truth." the basic tone is the same, but i had to rework the exact dialogue because it actually would have been a huge violation of dean's trust to tell john dean's secrets - even if it was to hurt john (maybe especially then), even in justifiable anger. he did tell him the truth, and the more important one! he just didn't betray dean's trust.

26. Which part of [x fic] was the hardest to write?

i had a hard time making dean and cas fight about 3 quarters of the way through. i also remember being absolutely tortured by some restructuring i had to do re: dean's arc with his repressed anger at john, but that's mostly because i hate editing. actually, i think the worst part was the timeline. the whole fic takes place in less than a week, and yet somehow it both begins and ends on a thursday...oops. that will haunt me forever

27. If you were ever to do a sequel to [x fic], what do you think might happen in it?

i actually talked about this here and here! i'm sorry if you've read those posts already. unfortunately i don't have a lot else to add!

28. In [x fic], what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about [pairing]?

i DO have one for this one though. do you remember the part where sam called dean gay but he said it lovingly but he was also torturing him because he deserved to do that? that but a more minor version for literally everyone they've ever met. i think it would do dean some good. like exposure therapy. yes i know exposure therapy is bad in real life, this is funny, let me have this

Secondly I'm absolutely losing it over how you handle w*nc*est**s in your asks. They're so fucking dumb!! Why don't they realise all those "evidence" and Misha making comments about that sick pathetic ship (your last post I believe) and the cast mentioning it was them making fun of it. I don't believe Jensen has ever made any comment regarding the disgusting abhorrent ship but I've read that JDM said something about John x Sam (🤢🤮)

And the fucking assholes took that as 'validation' and proof.....????

W*nc*est in not a ship, it's loathsome and the shippers need therapy. Incest is no joke, will I do agree there are real life examples, it's fucked up!! People have to go through intense therapy and so much more to be able to get out of it. In most cases it's predatory and one is always a victim of manipulation and violence. The shippers are even more despicable . These assholes don't love Dean, they don't even fucking like him, they want him as an accessory for Dean. I ranted in a grp chat, idk if you're in it , but these assholes see themselves in Sam who has always been the golden boy and centre of attention and Dean was his brother only, there only for Sam, to protect him. They hate cas/Misha bcoz his entrance meant the focus shifted, not only to Cas but also to Dean. Dean started taking care of himself. Before Cas he only cared about Sam and not even for himself. We literally see so much character growth after Cas comes in both Dean and Cas through the seasons. Dean no longer wanted to live for Sam only, he didn't wanna be JUST Sam's brother, he wanted to be Dean, he wanted his own life, he wanted to be with Cas romantically. I'm not saying he stopped caring about Sam, he Always cared about him but Cas made him care about himself too. Cas made Dean realise he was more than just Sam's protector, that he deserved to be loved and cared for. He deserves to life him OWN LIFE!!!

These dipshits couldn't handle it and they liked the finale (doesn't exist cause Deancas married) bcoz once again the attention was all on Sam.

Oh boy you were right that is a long rant lmao I think my favorite part was “misha collins, the inventor of gay.”

I guess I should preface to say I’ve never gone out of my way to single out any w*ncest shipper and my opinions are on the ship as a whole more so than any individual person. The asks I answered were only a couple but that person sent me way more that I deleted because I didn’t feel like it was necessary to air their dirty laundry or the insults they decided to sling at me based on very little information.

But yeah. All that stuff about dean realizing his own self worth as an individual separate from Sam was what should have happened and what they were building towards this whole time. I might not be a huge fan of Dabb’s style, but I recognize where he was going before the finale.

It’s very telling that almost everyone that stans Sam also ships w*ncest. I’ve never really seen a Sam blog that didn’t which is part of the reason I don’t post about him much because I’ve blocked a lot of his content creators. I recognize that people work through trauma in different ways and one of those ways is through taking power over the situation, but idk. Every time I voice my opinion I get told I’m wrong for not thinking that writing romanticized incest smut is good therapy. It’s “purity culture,” I’m a “purist.” Which isn’t the case at all actually, I’m not even a particularly sensitive person when it comes to being offended especially when as their main defense is, “it’s fictional.” But I also find it hard to believe everyone that ships w*ncest has suffered from abuse like that to claim it’s good therapy for everyone. Idk I’m sure someone will be mad at me for this though 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thank you! I’m sorry but I’m awful at keeping track of posts, but I’m sure that better functioning people like @elizabethrobertajones or @mittensmorgul can track down something about those topics...

I remember that people have been analyzing flower imagery, especially in regards of wallpapers and decorations, in relation to Cas. I must admit that I haven’t been following discussions about the meaning of flowers in the show because I know absolutely nada about flowers so they kind of all look the same to me lol. In the Carver era flowers have been important (there’s that kind of flower that also appeared in Fan Fiction associated to Calliope if I’m not mistaken that had, like, a lot of meanings, but I’ve already forgotten lol) and different kind of flowers were invested with different meanings (like that red flower that was associated to queer men in older movies and that has been associated to Crowley and Dean, etc etc) but I remember that there was a pattern that associated flowers to Cas, especially in relation to Cas’ importance for Dean. I think that in general flowers have been associated a lot to the triangle Cas-Dean-Crowley in the Carver era. I mean, if you asked me which characters have been associated to flowers the most, the first characters that would come to my mind would be Cas and Crowley, in the context of their relationships with Dean (well, one could say that Cas’ and Crowley’s characters have always been about their relationship with Dean. The Dean-Cas-Crowley triangle is one of the most fascinating narratives in the show for me tbh, but I’m digressing ^^; )

Anyway, from what I’ve gathered from better meta writers’ analyses, in general flowers=Cas (then certain kinds of flowers are associated to other things).

As for dogs, Dean has been the character most strongly associated to dogs - even since s3-4 and the hellhounds (I think there is a connection between Dean’s fear/dislike of dogs after going to hell and Dean’s self-hate after hell, and in general Dean has been paralleled to dogs a lot - episodes like Man’s Best Friends With Benefits and Dog Dean Afternoon have been super criticized for many reasons but were extremely interesting from this pov... then at the beginning of the MoC arc Dean literally meets Crowley’s hellhound, which foreshadows him actually become Crowley’s demon companion, etc etc). So yeah then the theme has been super strong in the Carver era, even with Dean kind of becoming a dog literally in Dog Dean Afternoon, and it’s mostly been in relation to Dean losing agency (i.e. mostly the MoC arc).

More recently Cas has been associated to that kind of imagery too (attack dog, a dog that thinks he’s people, him watching a program about dogs on television, etc.) and even more recently Sam too, in a minor extent (Toni bringing him to a veterinarian saying that there’s no much difference between humans and dogs, mostly), and of course Crowley has been associated to dogs in the Lucifer arc last season, with Lucifer calling him ‘doggie’ and keeping him on a leash, and so on. In general the show uses dog metaphors to indicate a character’s lack of agency/being someone’s “bitch” (in Cas’ case for instance the dog references are mostly connected to remarks about him being a tool for the Winchesters and so on).

So the main four characters have been associated to dogs recently but Sam in a way minor extent, so I’d say that the dog imagery still mostly applies to Dean plus Cas plus Crowley.

You know I didn’t expect at the beginning of this post to end up with the conclusion that both flowers and dogs are associated to Dean-Cas-Crowley??

I mean, flower imagery and dog imagery aren’t exclusive to the three of them of course, but now that I think about it they have been used heavily for the three of them. I mean maybe I’m biased as the Dean-Cas-Crowley narrative is one of my favorite things in the show... other people’s thoughts?

(You know, I was around the fandom between s8 and s9 and I remember that a lot of people complained that there was nothing left for the show to do with Crowley and they should kill him off because there was absolutely no possible storyline to get out of his character. There was basically an electoral campaign for the throne of hell in the fandom and a lot of people supported Abaddon because Crowley had supposedly run his course in the narrative... and then Dean x Crowley happened. Season 9 was wild times in the fandom. But I’m digressing again :P)
