Hi. Saw your opinion on non-canon ships in SVSSS. And I'm curious to what you think about BeefLeaf. Personally, I don't really like the idea very much. There was too much between HX and SQX to ever had a chance or to ever have actual chemistry to be a plausible couple. Idk know where this ship even came from besides the fact that they were sort of introduced together and SQX was the definition of clingy best friend while HX hid his true motives and personal vendetta against the Shi brothers. Also there is a god-awful amount of fics under this tag. Not as much as JWY/LXC 🤮 though.

Just asking if you're familiar with their arc.

I'm not much of a side shipper for MXTX works really, if anything I am simply maybe more dedicated to the potential of Lan Xichen and Jiang Yanli if I were to explore something in tandem with Wangxian. But I have to say that's really the most I am willing to really stick effort into for a transformative fic project.

I myself was more... interested, I guess, in the relationship in general for Beefleaf as it was in the story than anything else about TGCF.

Even from the point of it being a strange almost friendship Shi Qingxuan thought it was, and what He Xuan also wanted it to be in the midst of his own hate, vindiction and connection to him in turn. Plausibly, in the story itself, no I don't think there is any chance of an actual romance, as He Xuan has a lot of feelings to work through with what his hate against his love of Shi Qingxuan as a person vs the enemy he was for centuries in his mind. He Xuan was committed to the to see Shi Qingxuan as an end to a means. But, Shi Qingxuan also became more to him, and I think that is the thorn for it all.

He Xuan did end up caring more for him, than I think Shi Qingxuan even knew, and that's why they can't ever really come to an understanding. They hurt each other unintentionally and intentionally. Shi Qingxuan still sides with Shi Wudu after how much attention he gave to He Xuan. And He Xuan still wanted the Shi brothers to fall together despite what yearning he had, whatever it was, when he was with Shi Qingxuan. Yet He Xuan is still the one to follow him even after he has fallen to mortal. He Xuan is the most interesting party here, as time and again he almost gets what he wants yet tragedy follows him constantly despite his choices.

He killed the one person that Shi Qingxuan was willing to do anything for, someone arguably very vile to He Xuan. It's hard to come to terms that someone you have cared about, does not care for you as much, and has someone else already they would protect so much. It's He Xuan's yearning to be wanted by someone that doesn't even know how much he has hurt him, that is really haunting.

In that way a romance lens makes sense. But I also think there is so much to think about anyways, as these are two people who constantly missed the other while having the chance to be close, if not for awful circumstances from before never letting them be real friends. It does not need to be about romance, to still see all of the missed what if's if things had been different, but that's not the world that MXTX explores in her works, and all vindication has it's regrets when that's what one of her characters is obsessed with.

Yearning as well, can be a scary thing that haunts you.

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

Hmm... I feel like with the kind of fanfic I write I rarely really get to dive into worldbuilding. I'm more the person who takes 1 randomly mentioned characterization detail of canon and goes to town with it. xD

I am very proud of the Koi Tower eats people headcanon though. Never got to do anything with it yet, but I think it's fun :3

17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

There are so many xD

So many highly specific canon divergence scenarios I want to read. Crossover AUs. Plot Derailment Aus.

(a lot of these usually involve someone dying thought....)

But also, I've been toying with a TGCF Gundam AU. I don't have any plot for it, only vibes, but I just think the characters should get to pilot giant robots and have a lot of Drama. and black water arc mecha battle in Space featuring HX stealing a mech he & SQX built together, SQX being the Worst Pilot Ever but also the only one available, and SWD going out in a epic blaze of glory.

I also had an MDZS King's Avatar AU at one point, but all that really featured was WWX getting kicked out of his pro esports team, moving across the street to Wen Qing's internet cafe, and starting over in the game with a new ridiculously overpowered character and building a new pro team with Wen Ning.

Also Pokemon AUs are common enough, but what about Pokemon Conquest AUs! If Pokemon can canonically crossover with Sengoku-era Japan featuring Koei Samurai Warriors, then I think there is potential for an R3K or a Jianghu version!

And also also, Yugioh AU. I cannot write duels to save my life, but I know enough about the game to fantasize about what kind of Yugioh decks characters would have or which clans would focus on which summoning techniques a la Arc-V xD

WWX has a graveyard focused zombie deck. or maybe he invents pendulum summoning in this verse and everyone hates him forever for it

Probably the niche-est AU I have though that very definitely no one other than me would ever read is the Warriors Orochi AU where MDZS characters get summoned to WO3 verse and interact with R3K, Sengoku era & assorted historical/mythological/video game figures. I have had some ideas for 'stages' haha xD

(or maybe a general WO3 mxtx fusion could work. I just really like WO3's plot and stage setups)

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

It's kinda hard to say what a fic deserves but I was always a little sad 'Supporting Role' didn't get a little more love (although it's certainly done better than some of my more recent fics orz). It was a fic that had always been on my mind from the first time I watched The Untamed, and especially after learning how different Meng Yao's role with the Nie was in the novel vs. CQL.

The fic was originally going to have a follow up Nie brothers chapter, but I got a bit discouraged at the initial reception and shelved the idea ^^"

Writing has not really been easy for me lately, but I'm slowly getting back into it... though without much success at finishing things. I have a lot of ideas, but it's been more fulfilling to talk about them with people than actually writing them. Oops?

I really want to try writing more longfics though. But also short snippets (au or otherwise) that can just stand alone without 1000s of words of buildup

Hello! I’m alright, thank you for asking! I know I’ve been kinda MIA on tumblr lately (hoping that my queue will let ppl know I’m still alive LOL)! Things are busy for me as of late -- but thank you for sending in the asks! I’ll answer this one first <3

So about these ships, simply put: I like them all in a sort of... dysfunctional way? If that makes sense. xD

For HX and SQX, I actually see them as quite dark paring. HX made a definite effort to get SQX out of the situation between him and SWD -- which is indeed important to note -- but ultimately, he still prioritized his revenge over SQX. After everything that happened between them, it's heartbreakingly doomed. Which is what I like about it haha. However, I also do have to spare a thought to HX's fiancé, who he loved dearly and who died a gruesome death as a result of SWD's machinations. SQX might not be directly responsible for that, but... yeah it's a painful thing. ;v; In AU though, I suppose you could make anything work out!~ Sometimes you gotta just embrace delusion and have fun.

FX and MQ I do like as FWB/f*ckbuddies. I think they have a really interesting dynamic in the sense that their world views are completely incompatible. It's why they fight so much, and especially because neither of them really make the effort (or want to) to meet each other in the middle. However, they do still have a sense of loyalty to each other, purely because of their long and shared history. Another reason for their fighting is also likely because that is what's familiar to them. It’s what they know and are comfortable with. I think that's a really fascinating aspect of their relationship as a whole. But I can definitely see them shacking up every now and then as a "no-strings-but-oops-accidentally-strings-but-neither-of-us-will-acknowledge-ever" type of couple lol!!

And as for QYZ and YY.... I originally did kind of ship them, but the more I thought about it, and about YY specifically, the more I felt bad for him. YY has a lot of trauma that is directly tied to QYZ, and also carries around no small amount of guilt. QYZ means well, but he doesn't really understand YY's boundaries, which can be exhausting to deal with. However, the two of them genuinely do care about each other. Even if YY does say he hates QYZ, I think it's pretty apparent that he does not. That his hatred is actually guilt, and regret/resentment for the deeply unfair situation he was put in. Not necessarily to QYZ himself. Still, sometimes it's not easy to separate the two things practically, and QYZ is not blameless. I also think this relationship hits a little too close to home for me as well lol. But similar to SQX and HX, I think they do have romantic potential in an AU where a lot of those stressors are not present.

Regardless, I have read fic for all 3 pairings before and enjoyed them lots! At the end of the day, I've never really been a sidepair shipper. I know all of these are really popular in fandom and I do enjoy seeing them around if they float along my dash or timeline, but I don't really seek out content for them. I definitely support people going wild and having fun with these characters and various parings though! (E.g. a rarepair I'm actually fond of conceptually is QYZ and MQ, just because I think they would work very well off each other personality-wise!)
