kyoya otori and emu otori have a strange amount of narrative and thematic similarity despite being opposite personalities. the babies in very rich and important families, with a slew of very successful older siblings. theyre both consistently underestimated by their families, with an expectation to fit in a certain box prescribed for them. their inherent personalities - kyoyas sharp and callous ambition, emus bubbly and whimsical dreams for the park - make fitting in this box a struggle, and diminishing themselves to conform to it leaves them miserable

when they meet someone who loves and supports them as they are, without these expectations - tamaki and later the host club for kyoya, wxs for emu - they come into their own and it becomes apparent that they have unique skills that are valuable to their families' business that would have otherwise been stifled. but now they have a new dream that makes them happy, and they realise following in their siblings' footsteps isnt what they want after all. and with their family accepting them as they are, they have a new goal and they thrive

oh and theyre both rich and powerful otori families with business in recreation whaaat
