“Trent, Trent, baby, look at me,” Brandon whispers, his voice full of plea. Nervous to upset him, Trent does what he asks. It’s scary, being so revealing

His skin is covered in bruises from various fights. Just to prove that yeah, he deserves not to be messed with. Everyone in the past told him he didn’t belong, so he had to fight somehow. His eyes are full with tears, frightened to come out of his shell.

“Trent,” Brandon thumbs over his abdomen which is black and blue. His look shows that he isn’t disappointed, rather nervous and scared. “Why do you put yourself in these situations? Be honest.”

“I-uh,” it difficult for Trent to say the truth when Brandon just looks so sad. His hands go to another bruise on his body, this one near his elbow. He skims it over delicately with his fingers. “I dunno.”

But he does know. He doesn’t want to look weak. He should be known as the tough player and only the tough player. Not the one that tries to prove himself. He looks at the big cut on his thigh that started this whole mess.

“I dunno,” trent says over and over “I dun-“

“You know,” Brandon says, his eyes continuing to look at his bruises and cuts. “You do. Please just tell me.”

Before he says anything, Trent starts to break and tears fall down his cheeks, disappointed at himself.
