Marvey Bang 2024
In 2023 Suits and Marvey returned - in 2024 Marvey returns with a BANG!!
We invite all Marvey writers and Marvey artists to take part in the Marvey Bang 2024!!
A Bang is a collaboration between fanfic writers and fan artists, and it works like this:
Writers and artists sign up. Closed!
Each writer provides summaries for the fic they want to write for the Bang. The minimum word-count for Marvey Bang 2024 is 15k, and there is no limit (= your fic can be as long as you want it to be). Once the Bang officially starts, please do not share more information about your work to the public beyond what is mentioned in the summary until your posting date.
The summaries are posted anonymously (we'll use google docs for that as well), and the artists have time to browse and think about which stories they'd like to play with.
The artists claim their top three choices.
The mods match writers and artists and puts them into contact.
Writers and artists work on their joint contribution.
Regular check-ins (see below) help make sure that everything's going according to plan.
Posting starts August 23 and will be spread out over a couple of days, depending on how many participants we'll have. (Posting schedule will be communicated as soon as the matches have been made, so you'll know when your posting date is right from the beginning.
Contributions must be posted in one go. Fics can be chaptered, of course, and art can be spread over different chapters but on your posting date the entire thing has to be posted. BANG!

Sign-up for writers: February 12 – February 26, 2024 (Sign-up is now closed.)
Sign-up for artists: February 12 - March 14, 2024 (Sign-up closed.)
Writers: Summaries due: March 11, 2024
Artists: Browsing period: March 15 – March 21, 2024
Artists: Artists’ claims (first, second and third choice): March 21, 2024 (or earlier)
Mods: Matches Made & Sent: March 24, 2024
Writers and Artists: 1st check-in: May 1, 2024
Writers: 50% of writing completed: June 17, 2024
Writers and Artists: 2nd check-in: July 25, 2024
Writers and Artists: Final check-in: August 15, 2024
Writers and Artists: Posting starts: August 23, 2024 (Friday) – 1 or 2 contributions per day, depending on how many there are/will be

Marvey Bang 2024 - Update & Call for Artists
The sign-up for writers to join the 2024 Marvey Bang has now been closed - thank you so much to everyone who decided to join!!
You should find an email in your inbox (of the email address you provided when you signed up) within the next few days.
We will let you know how and when to send in your summaries and we'll provide you with an example or two as well.
Remember: The due date for all writers' summaries is March 11, 2024!
If you haven't heard from us by Saturday, please contact us either here, on discord or at our personal blogs: Aqua or Ems!
The sign-up for artists is still open, though! Quite a few more writers than artists have signed up so we're still looking for artists to join the fun! Closed!

Dear artists,
It's your turn now! Today we have sent out an email with a list of all the story summaries of our writers and further information. (Please check your spam folder.)
You can now start browsing the different stories and decide which ones resonate with you and you'd like to create art for.
Quick reminder: the match ups are not based on a first come, first served method. Each artist gets three choices and we'll do our best to match you to one of them.
Do not reveal your work (art & story) to the public until your posting date!
Browsing period ends on the 21. March! Please send in your three picks by then by writing a separate email to [email protected], listing your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice.

Writer Sign-up Confirmations Sent! Summaries Due March 11, 2023
We just sent out emails to all writers who have signed up confirming their sign-up and adding further info regarding the summaries (due March 11, 2024) and the following steps.
Please check the email address you provided when you signed up as a writer (check your spam folders as well) and contact us should you not have received an email!
Some of you have signed up as both a writer and an artist - this email has only been sent out to you in your capacity as a writer.
(We will contact the artists as well as soon as the browsing period starts. The sign-up for artists is still open, btw. Closed!
Two of you have signed up as collaborators (two writers, one fic) - of course we only need one summary from you.

Yo yall asked if I’d be interested in joining the bang. I’ve never done one before so i dont know all it entails but i am interested.
So basically a Bang is when a writer creates a story and an artist does a piece of art to accompany it. Some bangs are small and quick but most take a few months. At the end when the collab is finished we publish them one after the other. Just like the big bang we’ve created art.
The Marvey Bang @marveybang is hosted both on tumblr and discord (whichever you prefer). As an artist you get to pick three stories you’re interested in and we’ll do our best to match you to one of them. A lot of people enjoy participating in a Bang to get to know more people from the fandom but you can get involved as little or as much as you like to.

(1) BYO betas, basically. We will post a "call for betas" later on and help you find one if you don't have one already. :)
(2) Of course! Collabs are amazing, so yes, by all means, go ahead!! You could sign up with two names listed and one main email addy (we can CC your co-author), which would make setting things up and coordinating as well as the check-ins a little easier. Only thing we'd ask is that you make it one single sign-up to avoid confusion.
