An Easter Meeting in Leipzig with JS Bach - 300 years on.
Even people who don’t think they like classical music know and even like at least some of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750). Those who love classical music are mostly in consensus that he was probably the greatest of all the classical composers. I certainly feel that he stands tall not just in the world of music, but in the world of human creativity too. I believe that we are all a…

Hello, you did inspire me to rewatch M.A.S.H., which I rewatched last time I think more than 10 years ago. When I was a kid it used to be one of my favourite shows, because in my country they used to show an episode every morning on workdays and I watched it before school after some cartoons. That or Monty Python. Now I suspect those two quietly and unobtrusively shaped me up as a person, at least my preferences in comedy. So, what changed this time is I actively cringe in many more places than I did 10 years ago (I'm at the end of season 2, I go chronologically, sorry), which shows how much cultural standards have changed even just in 10 years, let alone compared to my childhood times when I don't think I cringed at all. Just thought it was a bit amusing. You are living your life and do not notice any huge changes in your worldview, but then you get this blast from the past and get an unequivocal proof that your standards of right and wrong have shifted along with times. I remember it gets better with these things later on as the seasons go, but so far it's like I cringe every episode at least once (10 years ago I cringed at around half the earlier episodes). That's it, nothing remarkable to add, except that I forgot Klinger started out pretty old already yet being called and treated as a young man. In my memory all of them got visibly older only in the latter half of the show. Just wanted to reassure you that you still do some influencer work as a M.A.S.H. pusher.
And on a different topic, Tennant is clearly a Josh girl, the way he so often goes about the brilliance of Bradley Whitford, while almost blushing and twirling hair. There's no doubt there.
A very sweet message thank you for the reassurance. I should have picked up that that ask meant to say you were already a mash watcher
Also thank you for reminding me DT is a Bradley Whitford girl. I knew this in the back of my mind and yeah like that truly is consistent with being a Michael Sheen girl

Post 953
Michael Klinger, Minnesota inmate 219321, born 1985, incarceration intake in 2023 (this time) at age 37, scheduled for release 03/30/2049, with full discharge 07/29/2062
Homicide
An Anoka man, with a troubling history of drugs, guns and mental illness, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the July 2022 slaying of a woman he once dated, a woman who tried to help him find his way.
As he imposed the 40-year sentence, Hennepin County District Court Judge Jay Quam told the convicted murderer, "I don't know where you're at now, Mr. Klinger. I know there was a part of you on July 31st that decided that if you couldn't have Katie Fredrickson in the way you wanted her, nobody was going to."
Quam continued, "And that the way you were going to fix that was to take her away from the world. And what I would say is, if there is any part of you there that still feels like that was the solution to a problem, I want you to walk through the door, in your handcuffs to your prison cell knowing that you did not succeed in that."
In addition to the 40 years for Fredrickson’s murder, Klinger also received 5 additional years to be served concurrently, or at the same time for a separate shooting.
Just four days before Klinger murdered Fredrickson, he went up to a separate former girlfriend in Minneapolis and shot and killed her dog.
Emily Roitenberg described Augie as her absolute best friend and forever side-kick during her own victim impact statement in front of Judge Quam at the same sentencing hearing.

Actually, now that I have thought it over, I think it would be better to add live action TV adaptations to possible candidates for the 40, but for characters from Live Action TV Shows.
I would include...
Jon Snow from Game of Thrones
Shawn Spencer from Psych
Michael Scott or Jim Halpert from The Office
Leslie Knope or Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec
Edmund Blackadder or Baldrick from Blackadder
Neil from The Young Ones
and Gilligan from Gilligan's Island
What live action TV Shows would you pick?
There were so many shows that it was so hard to pick! But I did my best:
The Addams Family (1964): Gomez or Mortica
BBC Sherlock: John Watson (I know there are some who don’t like this version, but I like the idea of John becoming even more badass and getting a leg up on Sherlock).
Good Omens: Aziraphale or Crowley
Merlin: Merlin of Arthur (I’m just imagining Arthur being surrounded by modern technology and calling it “sorcery!”)
House MD: House
Gilligan's Island: Gilligan
M*A*S*H: Hawkeye or Klinger (Look, the man KILLED IT in those dresses and was committed!)
Star Trek: The Original Series: Kirk or Spock
The Nanny: Fran or Niles
The Golden Girls: Rose or Dorothy or Sophia or Blanche (Listen, for so long I have wanted to see Niles from The Nanny and Sophia go toe to toe in an insult competition, so this is the closest I can get!)
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Will Smith
Knight Rider (1982): Michael Knight or KITT (Can you imagine three of the people waking up in a room only to find a talking car with them as well?)
Dexter: Dexter
Fringe: Olivia or Walter or Peter
Stranger Things: Steve Harrington (The babysitter needs to be prepare) or El
Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor
Supernatural: Sam or Dean or Castiel
The Good Doctor: Shaun Murphy
Breaking Bad: Walter White or Jesse Pinkman
The Handmaid's Tale: June Osborne
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Buffy
Roswell (1999): Liz Parker or Max Evans
Fleabag: Fleabag
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Miriam Maisel
Orange Is The New Black: Piper Chapman
Psych: Shawn Spencer
The Office: Michael Scott or Jim Halpert
Parks and Rec: Leslie Knope or Ron Swanson
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Jake Peralta or Ray Holt
MacGyver (1985): Angus MacGyver
NCIS: Leroy Gibbs
Criminal Minds: Spencer Reid
The X-Files: Dana Scully or Fox Mulder
Full House: Jesse Katsopolis or Danny Tanner or Joey Gladstone
Corner Gas: Brent
Downton Abbey: Charles Carson
Monk: Adrien Monk
The Queen's Gambit: Beth Harmon
Columbo: Columbo
Murder, She Wrote: Jessica Beatrice Fletcher

KIDZ!
The Young People of the Lucyverse ~ Part 3
Tumblr media
W.C. Fields famously warned performers never to work with children or animals. Luckily for us, Lucille Ball consistently disregarded his advice. Here’s a look at some of the young performers and characters of the Lucyverse.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Drive-In Movie” (1969) ~ Jackie Berry is a married friend of Kim’s who has a newborn named Wendy. Her husband is said to be in the service. Jackie Berry uses her married name for the character. She ws the real-life wife of Ken Berry from 1960 to 1972, an actor championed by Lucille Ball.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Jack Benny’s Biography” (1970) ~ Lucy plays Jack’s mother and  Michael Barbera plays Benny as a boy. Barbera was a child actor who was 12 years old at the time of filming. He accrued 18 screen credits before leaving the industry.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Cuts Vincent’s Price” (1970) ~ Lucy says she previously talked on the phone to Mrs. Vincent Price when arranging entertainment for a big party the Price’s threw. In 1970, Vincent Price was married to costume designer Mary Grant (inset photo), although her name is never mentioned here. Making small talk on the telephone, Lucy asks about Little Vicki. This is a reference to the Price’s 8 year-old daughter, Victoria. Although Lucy visits their home, both characters remain off-screen.
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Laundress” (1970) ~ Lucy smashes into a laundry truck. In order to pay for the repairs, she has to go to work at the laundry and encounters the owner’s two daughters Sue Chin Wong (left) and Linda Change Wong (right). Linda is played by Rosalind Chao who makes her screen debut with this episode. She created the role of Soon-Ye Klinger on “M*A*S*H” and “After M*A*S*H” but is perhaps best known for playing Keiko O'Brien on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Deep Space Nine.” During that series she also filmed The Joy Luck Club. More recent credits include “Blackish,” “This is Us,” and “The Catch.”  Heather Lee (Sue Chin Wong) makes her screen appearance in this episode. When Lucy meets the sisters, she greets them in an exaggerated and condescending Chinese accent. The girls look horrified and answer back in voices totally devoid of any Asian influence. To further the humor of Lucy’s backward thinking, the girls are eating hamburgers with ketchup, a typical American-style meal.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Ma Parker” (1970) ~ A criminal mastermind (Carole Cook) enlists two little people (Jerry Marin and Billy Curtis) to play her ‘children’. Milton (Marin) is dressed as ‘Little Mildred’ in the style of child star Shirley Temple. Curtis plays Herman Golab, who is dressed as Buster Brown.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Italian Bombshell” (1971) ~ Harry’s former flame Donna Colucci (Kaye Ballard) is married and has a large brood of children: Ricardo, Anna Maria, Louisa, Luigi, Vincenzo, Dino, Lucrezia, Alfredo Jr., Margarito, Bruno, Rosa, and Frederico - all of whom appear uncredited.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Donny Osmond” (1972) ~ Lucy takes her pre-teen niece Patricia (Eve Plumb) to see her favorite singer, Donny Osmond. Plumb is probably best known as the middle daughter, Jan, on TV’s “The Brady Bunch” (1969-74). She filmed this episode simultaneously with “The Brady Bunch” which aired Friday nights on ABC. This is her only time acting with Lucille Ball.  Coincidentally, Desi Arnaz Jr. made a guest-appearance on “The Brady Bunch” in 1970 where he was the ‘dream date’ of Jan’s sister Marcia (Maureen McCormick).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Her Prince Charming” (1972) ~ Harry hastily arranges a home wedding ceremony for Lucy and a Prince (Ricardo Montalban) - including a flower girl and a ring bearer - played by two uncredited young actors.
Tumblr media
Mame (1974) ~ Lucille Ball plays Auntie Mame to orphaned Patrick Dennis, played by Bruce Dern as a child.
Tumblr media
“Life With Lucy” (1986) ~ Lucy Barker and Curtis McGibbon (Gale Gordon) are grandparents to Becky and Kevin McGibbon. Becky is played by Jenny Lewis. Ten year-old Lewis appeared in all 13 episodes, only 8 of which were aired.
“Yes, Lucy was a bit rough around the edges, and yes, she constantly smoked cigarettes on the set. She would pull her face back with tape, sort of like a cheap face-lift.“ ~ JENNY LEWIS
Philip Amelio (Kevin McGibbon) made his screen debut on “Life With Lucy” at the age of 10. He played Stephen Baldwin’s younger self in the film Born on the Fourth of July (1989). He gave up acting by his early teensPhilip died in  2005 at the age of 27 due to a mis-diagnosed bacterial infection.
Tumblr media
Kelli Martin (right) played Becky’s friend Patty in two episodes of the series. Born in 1975, she made her acting debut at age 7 and went on to be seen as an Emmy-nominated regular on “Life Goes On” (1989-93) and “Christy” (1994-95) in which she played the title character.
BONUS KIDZ!
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Diamond Cutter” (1970) ~ German diamond cutter Gustav (Wally Cox) calls Kim and Craig “the Katzenjammer Kids.” The Katzenjammer Kids was a comic strip created by German immigrant Rudolph Dirks which appeared from 1897 to 2006. The strip featured twins Hans and Fritz, who rebelled against authority.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Generation Gap” (1969) ~ In the final sequence of the musical episode set in outer space, the Carters sing “Kids” a song written by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse for the 1960 Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie. The musical was filmed in 1963. This song is originally about the generation gap, so it requires the least lyrical changes. It was sung on stage and screen by Paul Lynde, playing the father of free-thinking kids obsessed with an Elvis-like rock and roll singer.

WPL: Gujarat Giants Unveil Jersey, Kick Start Preparation For Season 2
Tumblr media
Head Coach Michael Klinger: Ahead of the monumental second season of the WPL, which tees off in Bengaluru, the Adani Sportsline-owned Gujarat Giants began their preparations, by unveiling their jersey for the tournament. The Gujarat Giants' head coach Michael Klinger and Mentor Mithali Raj were present at the ceremony as they presented the new jersey to the squad ahead of their training in the evening. The Giants will be captained by Australian run-machine Beth Mooney, with Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana as the vice-captain. In preparation for this season’s WPL, the team in orange kickstarted their training with great gusto in the Garden City of Bengaluru, and are putting in the hard yards as they approach their first game. The Gujarat Giants will open its campaign at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against Mumbai Indians on February 25. While Michael Klinger is the Head coach and Mithali Raj is the Mentor and Advisor, one of India’s most renowned spinners Nooshin Al Khadeer is the Bowling coach for the team this season. Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, Head Coach Michael Klinger said, “This is a new season in the WPL and we are excited about it. But we must work very hard to be able to put in a good show for our fans. We have a few plans for our players, and the roles for everyone are also well defined, we hope the players are the best version of themselves every day. There is a lot to look forward to here, and the team is gung-ho about the upcoming season, and we are quietly confident about doing well once things kick off.” “The WPL is a great platform for women’s cricket, and the team have been tremendous in terms of supporting the team with whatever is needed as we build up to our opening game. We have a well-balanced squad with a lot of youth and plenty of experience in the senior players, and together, we are always looking to put our best foot forward. This is an important season for the Gujarat Giants, and I want all our players to give it their very best, in every training session and in every game of course, and ask all the questions they need to because that’s the best way to make sure the preparation is on-point,” said Mithali Raj. Sherlock Holmes
Who is he?
"Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Referring to himself as a "consulting detective" in the stories, Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, deduction, forensic science and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients, including Scotland Yard."
How has he been depicted differently in old or modern TV or film?
"More than 125 years after his first appearance, the master detective Sherlock Holmes is as famous now as he was in late Victorian Britain. A new exhibition at the Museum of London recalls how he escaped the pages of fiction to be regarded almost as a figure from real life - and it investigates his relationship with the city that provided the backdrop to many of his most famous adventures."
"Halfway through the Museum of London's exhibition Sherlock Holmes: The Man Who Never Lived and Will Never Die, a large portrait hangs on the wall. It has seldom been seen in public before."
There have been many books about Sherlock Holmes and even tv shows including one starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Board game
"The board game 221B Baker Street (Gibsons Games) was first developed in 1975, and the book-based game Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective (Sleuth Publications) was published in 1981. Multiple expansions have since been published for both games. The board game A Study in Emerald, released in 2013, was based on the Sherlock Holmes pastiche "A Study in Emerald" by Neil Gaiman. Other Sherlock Holmes board games include Watson & Holmes (Ludonova, 2015), Beyond Baker Street (Z-Man Games, 2016), and Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty's Web (2016). Card games based on Sherlock Holmes include I Say, Holmes! (2007, updated 2014), Holmes: Sherlock & Mycroft (Devir Games, 2015), and Clash of Minds: Holmes vs Moriarty (2019). "
The Comic strip
"Three Sherlock Holmes adaptations have appeared in American newspapers. The first, titled Sherlock Holmes, ran from 1930 to 1931. Sherlock Holmes was drawn by Leo O'Mealia (who later drew covers for Action Comics) and distributed by the Bell Syndicate. A short-lived half-page Sherlock Holmes comic strip appeared daily and Sunday in the 1950s, written by radio scriptwriter Edith Meiser and drawn by Frank Giacoia. The third adaptation "Mr. Holmes of Baker Street" by Bill Barry appeared in 1976-1977. This adaptation of the famous detective was not very popular down south, but experienced a series of faithful followers in northern states."
Films
"It has been estimated that Sherlock Holmes is the most prolific screen character in the history of cinema. The first known film featuring Holmes is Sherlock Holmes Baffled, a one-reel film running less than a minute, made by the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company in 1900. This was followed by a 1905 Vitagraph film Adventures of Sherlock Holmes; or, Held for Ransom, with H. Kyrle Bellew and J. Barney Sherry in unlisted roles. It was long believed that the film starred Maurice Costello as Sherlock Holmes, but Leslie S. Klinger has written that the identification of Costello in the role is flawed. Klinger states that the first identification of Costello with the role was in Michael Pointer's Public Life of Sherlock Holmes published in 1975 but that Pointer later realized his error and wrote to Klinger stating"

Who was Moriarty?
"Moriarty is a fictional character and criminal mastermind created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He was created primarily as a device by which Doyle could kill Holmes and end the hero's stories. In the TV series Sherlock, Moriarty was a “consulting criminal” and the mastermind behind the crimes in season 1. He was Sherlock’s archenemy and died in season 2’s finale “The Reichenbach Fall” in order to push Sherlock to kill himself."
Here are some of the Sherlock Holmes adaptations.
I have never watched any Sherlock Holmes adaptations but I know of them, and from what I've seen I think most of them are shown pretty accurate to the original story and definitely capture the personality of Sherlock Holmes.
