You want to know what this is?
Mushrooms
Here's the description from uder the photo
"Aliens? Vegetables? Nope, vegetable and animal bridge mushrooms. They're the myxomycetes, and they can move and hunt for prey or look for the best environment for them. They are born from spores, like mushrooms.
Myxomycetes move like huge amoebas, like pulsating masses; their movements seem to be dependent on microfibrils that remember the fibers of the muscles. These "blobs′′ crawl (at a speed of 1 cm per hour) phagocusing bacteria, algae, yeasts, protozoa and other organic material as they go; they digest them and expel the remains outside. Not randomly, mixomycetes proliferate where there are plenty of prey - on decomposing logs or on carpets of dead, wet leaves. And so they're often found in the woods, yellow, purple, blue, red, thanks to the pigments they contain."
I feel like this belongs to either Magnus Archives or Sheridan Tapes

The first slime mold that ever called me was Wolf’s Milk. That one was red. Happy to find this one in the middle of summer. And yes, it hollered at me. The dented one was from my fingernail. . #slimemoldsunday #slimemold #slimemould #wolfsmilk #fungus #notfungus #mushrooms #notmushrooms #mixomycetes #shroomsong #mycologyphotography #mycophilia #spores #lichen #whiteslimemold #yellowslimemold #carposoma #bubbleslimemold #tapiocaslimemold #tinyfungi #funwithfungi #identificationwelcome (at Ukiah, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1Casb7pfYD/?igshid=1tvtsb3cjjoxh

An article published in the journal "Scientific Reports" describes the discovery of the oldest identified slime mold, attributed to the genus Stemonitis. It's a fossil mold dating back to about 100 million years ago preserved in excellent conditions within a piece of amber discovered in Myanmar. Jouko Rikkinen, David Grimaldi and Alexander Schmidt examined this fossil, very useful for reconstructing the evolutionary history of these organisms part of the mixomycete (Myxomycota) group, a little known history because of the scarcity of fossils.

They spend most of their life cycle not even as cells at all, some can grow up to a meter across and 20kgs as a SINGLE cell with millions of nuclei. They've been known to grow cell walls and harden themselves in extreme conditions. In fact, scientifically, we don't even know where to categorize them, since they're not really plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, etc. And, they've been found everywhere from Iceland down to Antarctica.

This is the first slime mold that ever screamed at me. It was maybe 1/2 inch in diameter, on a wet leaf in a culvert. Maybe last November? . #slimemoldsunday #slimemold #mixomycetes #spores #shroomsong #orangeslimemold (at Novato, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2cOR4upM4J/?igshid=1726ahoq6213c

If I can get closer you’d be able to see the iridesence on some of the heads. I’ll be distracted on Sunday so today is Slime Mold Tuesday. .Probably Diachea Leukopodia, since it’s on the same wood chip I found it on last time. And it certainly has white feet! . #slimemoldsunday #slimemold #slimemould #fungus #notfungus #mushrooms #notmushrooms #mixomycetes #shroomsong #mycologyphotography #mycophilia #spores #lichen #whiteslimemold #yellowslimemold #carposoma #bubbleslimemold #tapiocaslimemold #tinyfungi #funwithfungi #identificationwelcome https://www.instagram.com/p/BzyJ8fJJf04/?igshid=1t1n2q9k6g1hr
