For the au ask dragón zack au

So Zack totally plans on telling Angeal about being a dragon! He totally does! It just...never feels like the right time. And then there’s no longer time, and Angeal is declaring himself a monster and all Zack can think is ‘if a wing makes you a monster, what does that make me?’

Kunsel somehow knows about Zack being a dragon. Zack still can’t figure out how since he didn’t say anything to Kunsel. (Kunsel will always wonder how Zack can be so oblivious to miss he’s also a dragon, but Zack is Zack).

Zack is very coy about what his hoard is, or rather, who his hoard is. Aerith and Cloud make for the best hoard. Kunsel would like it known that no, Zack, you aren’t subtle and everyone knows, and no, it’s not just because Kunsel hoards knowledge that he knows this.

Zack in part leaps on being able to go on the Nibelheim mission because he wants to meet and fight Nibel dragons. He doesn’t entirely take Cloud’s warnings seriously over how dangerous Nibel Dragons can be.

He starts taking them very seriously after Sephiroth attempts to burn down the village and kill everyone, and Zack is unsuccessful in using his dragon form to fight. On the other hand, a very irate, and very draconic Claudia Strife is making it very clear to Sephiroth why she’s not putting up with his shit. (Apparently Cloud had been half dragon the entire time, who knew? [Kunsel. Kunsel knew])

ok so... i will admit i know very little about actual kh lore bc im just here for the strifehart... but i was gonna do intensive research on dream eaters because from what little i know of them they’re sick as fuck

BUT

kh lore is a Lot and i am Very Tired rn because of... certain drama reasons in sefikura fandom... so!!! this is nothing against you at all i just don’t know stuff :( but this is what i could scrounge up:

- dream eaters are made up of darkness it seems? so if sephiroth is made up of cloud’s darkness as well zack represents like... cloud’s opposite darkness. i don’t mean literally because zack is also a real person (except this is kingdom hearts so maybe it is possible literally. who even knows im confused)

- baby zack shows up at some point in one of the games right?? isn’t he a normal kid?? so like. maybe it’s a nobody/heartless sort of situation, except not really because heartless can’t exist in the sleeping worlds... but riku was a dream eater for a while apparently(???) so clearly there is some sort of... conversion process... that people can undergo that has to do with. sleep. and dreaming. yeah let’s go with that

- dream eater zack probably wanders a lot looking for cloud + aerith, although he doesn’t actually know he’s looking for them, he just has this... aching emptiness in his chest that he needs to fill.

- of course he can’t possibly find them while in the sleeping worlds so maybe sora and riku have some role in reuniting him with his body and helping him exist in the real world?

- i imagine zack coming back as a dream eater at all has something to do with the shady deal cloud makes with hades? i think it’s implied in canon to be about aerith but also. [flails] zack

can you do headcannons for your clouds in moonlit skies verse?

Uhhhhhhhhhh I haven’t been in this AU for a while so not sure how many HCs I can shake loose but OKAY.

-Cloud grows to like the Cid of this time a lot? At first he was wary, because Cloud is wary of everyone that isn’t Zack or Aerith or Seph really, but Cid might by grouchy, but he’s blunt and gentle with kids and Cloud appreciates both.

-It helps that Cid meets Cloud by accident in the royal garage, happily using Seph as his heavy lifting assistant as he roots around in the engine of one of the royal cars (not the Regalia). At first Cid is not impressed because who lets a KID mess around with engine parts? Then he realizes pretty fast that Cloud knows exactly what he’s doing.

-Regis and Cor are surprised to hear of the incident, and say that no, no one to their knowledge has taught Prompto anything about mechanics.

-Cloud: It’s not that hard, all the pieces fit together a specific way to work, you just gotta remember how you took em apart and reverse it.

-Cid: ... I have discovered a tiny mechanical genius. Who Cindy is making fast friends with. Hmmm.

-Also Cid: YO COR AH’M STEALING YOUR KID FOR THE WEEKEND.

-Cor: WHAT.

-And that is the watered down, comedic version of how Prompto started getting to go to Hammerhead on weekends to play with Cindy and fix vehicles with Cid. Cor was leery of the idea at first, but Prompto is always so *happy* and oddly relaxed when working on cars and bikes and trucks that he couldn’t say now. Besides, Cid would take care of him. He practically raised Cor himself after all, and has a stable, well-adjusted granddaughter to boot.

-Cloud meanwhile, appreciates having someone who has his sense of dry humor and common sense (Cid; Yer too young to be a crotchety as me. Cloud: Watch me -_-.), and who lets him work off some of his stress by fixing vehicles. Cindy is ... nice. Too. Younger than him mentally, obviously, but she’s clever and friendly and chipper and good with cars and honestly it’s kinda fun to get dragged into a game by someone other than Zack.
