Foraying in Darjeeling & Sikkim
Sikkim. My dream getaway spot. Was in my Bucket list for so long. Finally i make it. ย Nature is at its best here. No matter how is the weather, its beauty never forgets to enthrall you. Endless span of beautifull valleys and mountains, clouds merging the skylines with the smoking mountains, infectious smile of the locals, rides which seems like going into eternity and reaching to heavens, skillfull maneauver of the drivers, beautiful collection of songs. What more i can say. Seems like i have reached heaven, but as the saying goes that you never get the heaven without dying, we had to return to our routine lives. Calmness of monasteries, breaking the same with rythmic sounds of their prayer with drums adds to the mystery of monasteries. Each destination was way more beautiful than the previous on and the journey was even more wonderful. Beautiful tea gardens of Darjeeling, slow movement of the toy train, excitement at Tiger hill with dense fog, serenity of Pelling, thrill of skywalk, calmness of monasteries, divine morning ย view from the window, smoking mountains, roller coaster rides, constant rains adding to the mystery of beauty of the hills, waterfalls that seems to be coming from eternity, stairs that seems to be going to heaven, roads with turns that will fill you with excitement. And add to that the most exciting and part of visit to Nathula Pass. After one failed attempt we managed to reach there without any protection from cold. Temperature was around 1 degree Celsius and I was there in my T shirt only with slippers. What followed was a lifetime experience, with extreme cold and lack of oxygen, breathlessness of severe kind and then the proud feel of touching the border with China on the other side. Nothing can beat that. Temple of Baba Harbhajan Singh and the story of his valour, can make any one emotional.
Other than the beauty of surroundings, what made the voyage more memorable was the innocent smiles of the locals and the drivers skills and supporting nature. Food was Full of Maggi and Momos. But above all most important was the characters that were my companions on this beautiful trip. Everybody was a character and never allowed the trip towards boredom. ย Anilโ€™s mischievous laugh, Piyush concern for any problem that may happen(which actually happened), My angry bird face making everybody nervous, Babitaโ€™s childlike enthusiasm, Saritaโ€™s planning and coordination and rare calmness, Supportive and understanding Pooja. Add to this the high octane energy of Akku which had to be reigned in more often, chirpiness of Addu and confused Avishi (what to do with these kids). We made memories for lifetime, with beautiful environs of Darjeeling and Sikkim, with our fellow companions and the little champions. Support of Sikkim hills guys was also exemplary. ย https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-hA3180nUc&t=25s
