hey, for your research: black sails is a show that centres a gay protagonist and features multiple queer couples, tying their queerness into a story about resisting colonial power specifically in the context of caribbean piracy. it's also a prequel to treasure island, so queering a text that was so important for our perception of the age of sail was an interesting choice on part of the creators. good luck with your project!

black sails was already on my list but it’s quite heartening to see so many people recommending it!
