Stolen MVP Saturday: (slightly late) Who deserved the NFL MVP at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, Aaron Rodgers or JJ Watt? The last defensive player to win the MVP was OLB Lawrence Taylor in 1986, and before him was Alan Page in 1971. It is very few and far between that a linebacker or defensive end wins the MVP, but Watt put together a season that was worth him becoming the third defensive player to win it since the award's inauguration in 1957. Rodgers had an exceptional season, finishing with an efficent passer rating of 112.2 and showed poise with the football maintaining a 38:5 TD to INT ratio on the season. On the other hand, Watt totalled 20.5 sacks, his only career safety, and five touchdowns; three of which came on the offensive end. Nonetheless, the NFL MVP is an offensively dominated trophy so Rodgers receiving a majority of the first place votes wasn't much of a surprise.
