#Repost @drbenjamincaplan with @use.repost ・・・ According to city officials, Kansas city has zero open/pending cannabis cases. What does this mean? Starting Nov 8th, the city has worked towards dismissing and weaving fees of open cannabis cases which totaled more than 2,400. The city’s municipal court has strictly dealt with possession cases and does not handle cases involving intent to distribute, or other more severe crimes. (I.E. Generally misdemeanor crimes that do not involve a jury). Does this feel right to you? Should other cities do the same? . . . #cannabisnews #cannabisevent #newsevent #currentevents #cannabislaws #kansasnews #cannabisfacts #newsfacts #cannabiscrimes #legalize #cannacommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmrgm3kOOF3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Homework 11
The phrase "printing money" tends to be tossed around in discussions about the money supply.  How important is cash (the dollar bills in your wallet)  to the overall money supply?
Having money “in your wallet” (cash) is very important for the monetary flow and banking money flow. If you use your cash and deposit it in your bank account that means that the bank will have more money to use and give loans and many other distributions.
If there is more cash flow there is more money supply.
Think about the structure of the FRB.  How are they related to the Federal government? Do you think they make independent, non-political decisions?
The Fed (FRB) is a central bank that was created by Congress by the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. Their job is to regulate banks and maintain the health of the national banking system. The Fed chair is appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate every four years. “The Federal Reserve, with approval of the Secretary of the Treasury, established new credit and liquidity facilities under section 13(3) of the Federal Reserve Act to alleviate severe dislocations that arose in a number of financial markets and to support the flow of credit to households, businesses, and state and local governments. Furthermore, as financial stresses abroad risked spilling over into U.S. credit markets, the Federal Reserve and several other central banks announced the expansion and enhancement of dollar liquidity swap lines.”
The FRB spent most of the first two years of the pandemic increasing the money supply. Why was that? Did they "overshoot"?  Are you worried about current and future inflation?  I check the FRB press releases for an easy way to find current policy (use the Monetary Policy filter.)  --  https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pressreleases.htm
or there is an excellent overview of the pandemic responses here:  https://www.brookings.edu/research/fed-response-to-covid19/
At this point the FRB is reining in money supply growth. Why? What tools are available to them to do this?
(These are big questions - I want you to start thinking about them because they are important to future investment and employment decisions you will make.  Try not to get frustrated. :^) )
During the pandemic the Fed’s goal was to increase money supply to incentivize people to spend more. Thereby increasing demand for goods and services. This was to keep money moving through the economy, rather than just “sit in people wallets”. When the pandemic hit, everyone started keeping their money, the economy needs money to keep moving through it in order to stay healthy. Thus the Fed increased money supply to get people to start spending again.  In my point of view the Fed tried to use money supply to help businesses and people to come afloat but currently there is more demand than supplies and the markets have so much more shortage which making the economic to come back back a little hard.
In the other hand unemployment rate have been decreasing. Job gains have been strong in recent months, and the unemployment rate has declined substantially. Inflation remains elevated, reflecting supply and demand imbalances related to the pandemic, higher energy prices, and broader price pressures. https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pressreleases/monetary20220316a.htm
