i think we, as a fandom, dont talk about marlene x lily enough.

like not just romantically, but also platonically. like,, we always talk about james with either, mary with either, dorcas with marlene, sirius with either, pandora with lily, etc. but lily and marlene is criminally underrated. (in both friendship and relationship)

i feel like they definitely had crushes on each other, if not dated for a bit. like lily's type being quidditch obsessed dorks. that is marlene. and marlene's type is hot girls that she can easily talk to. lily.

them connecting over family issues. like lily with petunia ignoring her and her parents never being around, and marlene with her mum issues. also i said before about marlene's mum loving mary until she finds out mary is friends with the guys and that marlene has a crush on her. i feel like with lily, it'd be marlene's mum liking lily since she's smart, feminine, and seems to hate james potter immensely. BUT the mum walks in on them kissing and lily gets banned from the house.

petunia would literally die if they dated. imagine her answering the door to a wizard, super muscle-y, a mullet shag haircut, so many piercings and tattoos, wearing guys clothes and a necklace with the word 'dyke', and holding a literal broomstick in her hand. petunia would die on the spot.

also platonic them where everyone just assumes they're dating. like it is very well known that marlene is a lesbian and people have seen lily kissing girls and talking about her massive crush on lynda carter. and they both sit on each others laps, marlene kisses lily's hand after painting her nails, lily signs her notes to marlene with a tiny heart. and they just play into it because why not? it's funny. and dorcas meadowes seems very pissed about it, who knows why (lily knows why.)

marlene covering for a crushing lily who keeps going to quidditch practices to watch james and regulus. whenever james gets cocky and asks if shes there to see him, marlene flies over to thank lily for coming to watch her and it immediately humbles james.

lily comforts marlene after she panics about her owl results by reminding her of how great she is at quidditch and woodwork, broommaking, etc. and even though lily sees education and exams as the most important thing for her future, marlene is different and her exam results don't matter for what she's actually interested in doing in life. just because she's not so great in educational institutions, doesn't diminish her talents and interests that she actually wants to pursue.
