DID opinion dump
i don't believe every single person who says they have DID truly has it. some of you do treat it like it's a cute and fun little game, and it's obvious that some of you just have kintypes, or identity issues unrelated to DID. i think "fakeclaiming" is a dumb term, though i DO think telling someone they're faking and/or harassing them is wrong. i think it's interesting that the people so Incredibly against fakeclaiming on their blogs are almost always in their little group chats and servers basically calling people fake but without using the term. i've been in them, i see how y'all act behind closed doors
in a similar vein, some people seem to think trauma is this cool badge of honor you can parade around the internet, and toss words around like "abuse" and "gaslighting" without a care in the world about the weight of those words and what they actually mean. it's gotten to the point where there are articles about celebrities "gaslighting" the press, and at this point there's no taking it back, so i hope the people who contribute to this watering down of terms eventually realize how much of a slap in the face it is and was to survivors
a lot of people on social media treat DID as if it's special and not just another mental illness, and i want you guys to step back and ask yourselves if you would apply any of the (nonpsychological) terms to literally any other mental illness. nobody says they "came out as OCD/depression/BPD etc", and as a bi and trans person i think it's in very poor taste to say you're "coming out" with a mental illness. i also think the way a lot of people have decided is acceptable to treat parts is reprehensible, such as the way people treat introjects. side note introjects don't have "canonmates"
also, treating popular bloggers/vloggers like they're the tried and true source for all your information on DID is inevitably going to lead to some misinfo because noone's perfect, and inevitably going to lead to some heartache since many of them aren't the people you think they are. in relation to this, don't give them so much info about yourself because you don't know what they're gonna do with that information
speaking of info, the trend of having a google docs of all your alters in your bio is actually incredibly unsafe and i hope y'all quit that. keep that between you and your therapist
the emphasis on "how to get a DID/OSDD diagnosis" is, IMO, stupid. even if you get treated for "just" C/PTSD, you are getting help for DID/OSDD because C/PTSD also includes dissociative features and therapy focused on parts work. the focus should be on treatment instead of getting the label you want and i think it's very telling how few "what treatment options are there" and "what can i do outside of therapy/while i don't have therapy" questions circulate in the DID community compared to diagnosis questions. as someone diagnosed with way too much shit, whatever label they slap on you doesn't matter as long as you get treated
additionally, blaming your lack of recovery on therapists is underwhelming because the majority of recovery work is done outside therapy. you can't go to a therapist for 1 hour a week, yes even dissociative specialists, and not work on anything outside of therapy and expect to be recovered. sometimes therapists are horrible people who need their license taken away, but sometimes YOU are the one that has to take responsibility for yourself

It follows that if by “conceptual” we mean, with Hegel, “standing in relations of material incompatibility and consequence,” then the objective facts and properties natural science reveals as physical reality are themselves in conceptual shape. Modal realism, the claim that some states of affairs necessitate others and make others impossible, the acknowledgment of laws of nature, entails conceptual realism: the claim that the way the world objectively is, in itself, is conceptually articulated. This is a nonpsychological conception of the conceptual in a robust sense, because having conceptual content, standing in relations of material incompatibility and consequence, does not require anyone to think or believe anything. If Newton’s laws are true, then they hold before there were thinkers, and would hold even if there never were thinkers. The facts governed by those laws - for instance, early collisions of particles - stood in lawful relations of relative impossibility and necessity to other possible facts, and hence on this conception of the conceptual had conceptual content, quite independently of whether any subjective processes of thinking had gone on, were going on, or ever would go on (in this, or any possible world). Meaning of Hypnotherapy and HOW DO Be Helpful
Tumblr media
Hypnotherapy is a kind of psychological treatment, used to produce certain unconscious changes in an individual. These changes may be using different new reactions, thoughts, attitudes, emotions or even behavioral changes. also, check out www.igorledochowskihypnosis.com
Hypnotherapy, as the name suggests is performed with the help of hypnotherapy. So the one who is hypnotized shows uncommon behavioral characteristics like heightened responsiveness when compared with non-hypnotized people.
A very important factor to be comprehended well is that hypnotherapy is conducted and really should only be performed by medically trained hypnotherapists. There are a lot of individuals who use hypnotherapy as a means to make people vulnerable. That is a major offense.
The goal of hypnotherapy, as stated by Dr. John Kappas, founder of the Hypnotherapy Motivation Institute, is mere, "Inducing circumstances of hypnosis in a customer or patient, to increase or alter behavioral patterns."
Why don't we now observe how hypnotherapy has transformed during the period.
Traditional Hypnotherapy
• This is a kind of hypnotherapy used majorly through the Victorian period. The method employed was direct suggestions mainly, to eliminate symptoms by way of therapeutically calming the individual.
• There have been also times when an individual would get Aversion treatment i.e. contact with external stimuli, like alcohol or drugs.
• It must be mentioned that for a while period where research hadn't advanced to such a higher degree, any form of hypnotherapy was quite an accomplishment. The changing times noticed some renowned hypnotherapists as Wayne Braid flourish.
Ericksonian Hypnotherapy
• Called after Milton.H. Erickson, this is an extremely different form of hypnotherapy, where Erickson used conversations to cope with patients.
• He would start informal discussions, laced with complicated vocabulary patterns and therapeutic strategies. This is an extremely big divergence from traditional hypnotherapy and therefore, much-criticized as well.
Cognitive/Behavioural Hypnotherapy
• It is a kind of integrated psychological treatment, where hypnotherapists use clinical hypnotherapy and cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT).
• The extensive research on CBT being used in alliance with hypnotherapy has revealed greater treatment effectiveness. People reported about 70% higher improvement.
• The usage of CBT hypnotherapy is becoming widespread and it is also very useful for behavioral evaluation among people who have tendencies (felony or elsewhere).
Using Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is utilized mainly to help treat or simply control conditions. Various types of disorders like depressive disorder, stress, etc. are brought in order by way of hypnotherapy. In Victorian times, there have been large numbers of reviews saying the use of hypnotherapy to cope with hysteria. Modern utilization is also found to treat any unnecessary fears, irrational thoughts, dealing with insomnia (sleeplessness) and also remedy alcoholic beverages and other material addictions.
Hypnotherapy helps majorly in working with certain nonpsychological conditions, like post-operation methods, cancer treatment, etc.
An interesting simple truth is that hypnotherapy has been used for a long period during childbirth. It can be used to get ready for the girl for childbirth and also to be able to reduce panic or pain during labor.
We often hear the word 'speaking down'. That is also a kind of hypnotherapy, in which a person is spoken right down to normalcy. We sometimes call it manipulation, but it is a highly effective form of hypnotherapy found in daily life.
Having comprehended the usages of hypnotherapy, why don't we now know very well what makes hypnotherapy important.
Great things about Hypnotherapy
1. Hypnosis helps to treat addictions. It can help stimulate the circumstances of relaxed in lovers so that they can control the desire for drug abuse.
2. Hypnosis assists with pain management. In case there is a disease like malignancy, where the pain is often beyond creativity, plain medication will not help. Hypnotherapy helps fortify the mind. This can help to cope with the pain.
3. Stress can be reduced. When folks incline to take unneeded stress, frequently yoga and yoga exercise are very little help. It is a mental issue. That is treated effectively with hypnotherapy.
4. Helps cure rest disorder. Excessive rest, insomnia, etc. can be healed fairly effectively with timely hypnotherapy.
5. It can help recover buried remembrances that may be causing the existing problems. The unconscious often hides very unpleasant recollections and it becomes hard to recall them normally. Hypnotherapy helps recover such thoughts.
6. Hypnotherapy helps offer with anxiousness and major depression. Both these disorders, play on psychology heavily.

Psychology and Global Climate Change
The American Psychological Association Task Force on the Interface Between Psychology and Global Climate Change and addressing a multifaceted phenomenon and set of challenges.
Their aim in this report is to engage members of the psychology community in the issue of climate change. They consider psychology’s contribution to climate change by addressing the following six questions:
How do people understand the risks imposed by climate change?
What are the human behavioral contributions to climate change and the psychological and contextual drivers of these contributions?
What are the psychological impacts of climate change?
How do people adapt to and cope with perceived threat and unfolding impacts of climate change?
Which psychological barriers limit climate change action?
How can psychologists assist in limiting climate change?
The second aim of the report was to make policy recommendations to assist and encourage psychologists’ engagement with climate change issues as researchers, academics, practitioners, and students and to foster the development of national and international collaborations with other individuals and associations inside and outside of psychology.
One of the recommendations is to create effective outreach programs that assist the public in understanding climate change, mitigating its human causes, and adapting to climate change impacts. Facilitate international, cross-disciplinary, and trans-disciplinary collaborations that address climate change. Under this recommendation, it suggests that it may be possible to shift the mindset of people to evoke a change in their actions by:
Providing public materials
Increasing public education
Increase the availability of supportive interventions to help people overcome stress, worry, and despair regarding climate change
Develop a traveling demonstration on “Psychology and the Environment” targeted toward pre-college age students
Foster connections between psychologists and those in nonpsychological fields (e.g., engineering, business, sociology, political science) and environmental organizations (e.g., World Wildlife Fund, Sierra Club) addressing climate change.
Lobby government and other funding agencies to support psychological research on global climate change.
This list of recommendations continues, but these are a good start of recommendations to begin implementing to see if we can start shifting the mindset of society.
