my durge tav had a fling with both astarion and lae’zel at the same time. when i played through it originally, astarion’s hug scene triggered before lae’zel’s ‘i have feelings for you and i need to fight you about it’ scene, and so that meant that my tav’s relationship with astarion deepened and it was ultimately lae’zel that prompted the ‘choose one of us’ dialogue.

i recently went back to an old save shortly before the astarion hug scene because i wanted to check how that scene had triggered (iirc it triggered organically, so without talking to araj or killing yurgir first). i was at last light inn, spammed like two or three long rests, and instead of having the hug scene trigger (which i now believe only triggers after raph gives you the quest to kill yurgir), lae’zel’s scene triggered instead.

this was nice because i got to see it + hear the subsequent ‘choose’ dialogue from astarion rather than lae’zel, but oh my god i cant stop thinking about the implications. lae’zel was SO close (literally only 2-3 nights!!!!) to admit her feelings to herself and confess to my tav!! had i played slightly differently, gone somewhere else, picked a fight in a different spot, the defining moment of who my tav ended up picking (and thus falling in love with) might have gone differently. and like. imagine being lae’zel. imagine kicking yourself repeatedly over and over again over the fact that you’re… feeling things for this fucking random tadpoled dumbass you met just recently. imagine growing up in a society where love and romance is scoffed at, and the second you’re removed from that environment, you find someone who stirs those embarrassing feelings in you! imagine slowly working up the courage to even just Begin to accept your feelings, to be working towards being able to acknowledge them out loud, to be literally One Night Away from taking this huge, scary personal leap… and then someone else beats you to it. you were one night away from doing one of the scariest things you’ve ever done, and then someone else fucking destroys that opportunity for you. and it’s just over. you end it with the person you were so close to falling in love with, because they’ve fallen in love with someone else and you hesitated.

Wyll

“O Soft, What Light Through Yonder Window Breaks” from Romeo and Juliet

Of course. There is no other option.

This man is a hopeless romantic and, I adore him, would not get the point of the play but would have so much fun playing Romeo.

Everyone in the cast would also be hopelessly in love with him.

(Bonus) “Once More Upon the Breech!” from Henry V

Oh this man would KILL this monologue. The battle cry? The rousing of his men against an impossible task? It’s what he was made to do, it’s what the character was built for.

Equal and opposite to how he’d absolutely slay as Romeo, he would make an amazing Henry.

Karlach

“O, Then I See Queen Mab Hath Been With You” from Romeo and Juliet

I almost, almost gave this to Astarion because I think he could also do it justice, but he already had two monologues.

Just… love u Karlach you can say whatever nonsense and I will nod along. Also absolutely ragging on your friend and getting carried away in the bit feels very in character for her.

I feel like she doesn’t really do acting but she would come support her friend’s productions however she could.

Astarion

“To Be Or Not To Be” from Hamlet

Hear me out; I think it would either be so over dramatic or the best damn rendition you’ve ever heard.

Contemplation of mortality, pain, existence? Astarion is at his best when he’s having an existential crisis.

This man was also just built to play Hamlet. You could replace this with “‘Tis now the very witching hour of night,” “O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt” Or any of his soliloquies and what I said still goes.

(Bonus) “Dost Thou Not Suspect My Place?” from Much Ado About Nothing

This is one of the best comedic monologues Shakespeare has to offer and I won’t be told otherwise

Specifically based on the line of Dogberry describing himself as a tasty piece of flesh while also being Dogberry and flouncing about, being hysterical, because someone called him an ass.

(Bonus 2) (Sorry this man is very Shakespeare coded) He would be such a good Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Just a little shit.

Gale

“O, She Misused Me Past the Endurance of a Block!” From Much Ado About Nothing

Just as I think Astarion was built to play Hamlet, Gale was built to play Benedick.

He’s just enough of an ass but also fucking comedic enough to pull this off and make it hysterical. Like Benedick, he also just keeps talking.

(Bonus) Lear’s Storm Monologues

I think at his worst, Gale could do Lear some fuckin justice in his performance of that specific piece, and that slow descent into madness.

Lae’zel

“I Would Eat His Heart In The Marketplace” from Much Ado About Nothing

It’s a take I’m so here for and I think she’d get really into scolding Benedick for being a dishonorable coward.

Just think about the potential delivery of “Oh! If I were a man! I’d eat his heart in the marketplace!” gives me chills.

I don’t ship Lae’zel and Gale necessarily but I think if you put them in a production of Much Ado together it would be cemented as a bar-standard production.

Shadowheart

“O What a Noble Mind Been O’erthrown” from Hamlet

She kins Ophelia and you can’t tell me otherwise. Also specifically, in this, the context of being used as a pawn by everyone in her life feels appropriate.

(Bonus) Let her play Joan of Arc in Henry VI. I don’t know why she’s so Joan of Arc coded in my brain but let her do it.

Halesin

“All the World’s a Stage” from As You Like It

This one is the one I’m least confident about but the world-weary and worn nature that it can take on feels very Halesin and I think he would do a performance in such a way that it sends you spiraling into an existential crisis.

(Bonus) Minthara

“And Dash’d the Brains Out!” from Macbeth

Again, I just think Minthara would kill as Lady Macbeth.

But, I don’t think “Out damn spot” would be where she shined; I think these moments of absolute murder and ambition would.

Also inspired by the production (in DC I think?) where they had to cut Lady Macbeth literally smashing a baby doll on rocks during this monologue because the audience found it too disturbing.

I don't feel i've been very active with creation this past month (in august) - lots of wonderful things have been happening offline (made so many good and happy memories this past month) - but as the summer starts to draw in and Autumn comes - I will return to create more !!

BG3! RASMUS'S PINTREST BOARD:

As I slowly work my way through bg3 - I have been thinking about my dear Rasmus (my ex-trauma team medic oc for cp2077) - thinking about him in my BG3 AU - .. So, the logical thing is to run to pintrest and start making a visual guide. Lots of sunsets - flowers and tears - In my BG3 AU - Rasmus is a cleric of Lathander - previously a soldier before finding his calling to the dawnbringer... You can find this board here (still have a lot to add- but it's a start!) I'm so excited to start playing as Rasmus in BG3-!! I''ve got his character model / save file all ready to go - just need to find the time to play now!

Ages ago - I had an idea of the possibility of giving viridian heterochromia- and this idea sat in my head for ages- until yesterday when I made a little fashion doodle - and then realised that there is actually a heterochromia mod for cp2077 (by @noraleedoes -!!) ive been seeing people claim that different characters are astarion's foil and i dont know why some people have yet to realize that all of the main six companions in bg3 are similar in so many very meaningful ways . you can ostensibly argue (albeit with varying strength and success) that any one of the characters in that party can act as a foil to another. also, im not really sure if most people know what a character foil is......maybe we need to reintroduce the phrase "character parallel" to the online character analysis layman's vocabulary. a "foil" is a character that has traits that contrast the protagonist or simply another character in the story, but it does not stop there. they dont have to be strict opposites. sometimes its just a matter of two characters having traits that accentuate or bring attention to each other's aforementioned traits.

a really good example of this is horatio and hamlet from hamlet, where hamlet is ruled by his emotions and horatio is ruled by rational thinking, a theme repeatedly mentioned throughout the play in the sense that horatio will ask hamlet to be more calculating, and hamlet will implore horatio to be more emotional. an example of a parallel in the same play would be hamlet and laertes (ophelia's brother), where in the end, due to their combined familial losses and the tragedy that befalls them, they are both corrupted by their volatile emotions/madness turning inward and then coming under the influence of other figures in their lives. theres a lot more going on in that play obviously but these are basic good examples of the ideas of foils and parallels.

in the case of astarion and wyll, their motivations and personalities are very good foil material, seeing as right away there is a distinct difference in their opinions on heroism, something that very much defines both of them. astarion is, when glanced over as a whole, a villain, while wyll is clearly a hero, immediately creating a dichotomy tantalizing to both the audience and the characters themselves as seen in their party interactions. with astarion and gale, we see more a foil-ness of their experience with relationships and personalities. gale is not a hero, and astarion's general villainity means nothing to him. they do not clash. its more about how they act in relationship to the player that causes interest between the two of them, how astarion is clearly uninterested in genuine emotions and wants to be manipulative, whereas gale is overly sincere and begs for attention rather desperately. however, when it comes to pointing out parallels that further promote and intrigue the dynamic of foils...we have the constant theme of being under someone else's control in this game and being forced by obligation to follow these rules imposed by someone else. astarion and cazador, wyll and mizora (and his father, in some ways), gale and mystra, shadowheart and shar, lae'zel and vlakiith (and githyanki tradition as a whole), karlach and literally every authority figure that wormed their way into her life but in particular - zariel. as i play more of the game and learn more about each character, im sure ill discover even more stuff that makes various characters into parallels or foils. i know theres stuff w halsin that will be interesting to me.

thats what i mean by there are traits in every character in the main party that both compliment and clash. and this is also a reminder that foils and parallels do not have to be romantic, but they can be. so like..idk. i dont really have a conclusion here. i just wanted to talk about this lmao

After a while has passed, I like to compare images of my oc's from back when I first made them vs the current day. I can never settle on a design for long, especially when it comes to hairstyles or outfits

Valerie (TWC) and Ophelia (ikevamp) aren't included, purely cause I haven't changed much of their appearance since making them...somehow

Evelyne (Obey me: 2021-2023)

If i have a profile picture of a lady with black hair, a fringe and red eyes, that's Ev, even if I don't play obey me or use ev as an oc much anymore. She went from long hair, to short hair, to long hair in demon form, to long hair in human form and then banshee

Nell (BG3: Mid 2023-2024)

Went through 3 face changes and way too many wardrobe swaps, but at least she kept her love of braids! Her eyes also swapped from black and silver to pure silver by act 3, which was a purposeful change based on story events.

Rose (AoT: Early 2023-2024)

I don't even know what happened with her, besides the fact that I'm a weak woman who usually has an army of black haired oc's, one way or another. Does her hair fit the AoT world? Who knows, probably doesn't, but it's grown on me more than her white hair.
