I’m doing a basic run through of Irish gaelic on duolingo, the lady is saying Gaeilge like “goyl-gay” but I learned it like “gayle-guh.” Did I just learn a different dialect or have I been saying it wrong this whole time?😂
I’ve never heard goyl-gay, I say ‘gwayle - gah’ which is connacht irish

🗣⚖️🌏 ?
I can’t see the first one so I guess I’ll answer all ones it could possibly be.
What language do you speak most often?
English 99.99% of the time.
What language has been the most difficult for you to learn?
Irish because it isn’t taught very clearly in schools.
What is the key to language learning success?
I think the key is doing something every single day and having people that can cheer you on.
   Langblr pet peeve?
I dislike when people claim a language is impossible to learn.
Would you rather have a huge vocabulary, perfect grammar, or a perfect accent in your target language?
a huge vocabulary because you would be able to get your point across and vocab is very important.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, all expenses paid, where would you live and why?
Well since it’s all expenses paid I would go to Japan since that’s a cool country but expensive!!
thanks for asking

Hi :) Why do you like German as much as you like it? I just started learning it, because one of my friends is moving to Germany bc of her bf and I want to visit here there :)
There are so many reasons why I love German, I hope I didn’t leave anything out of this haha.
In no particular order!
I like the way it sounds. People often think that German is harsh sounding. German doesn’t sound as harsh as people make it seem. Some nice sounding German words include Liebe, Katze, lila and many more. There are lots of examples of songs in German, including Disney songs, which show that German is a very pretty language.
I like how nouns are always capitalised in German. I think this is kind of an odd reason but for some reason seeing a capital in the middle of the sentence draws my attention and makes sure I don’t get distracted with whatever I’m reading. It also makes me aware of words which are nouns. I don’t really think about that in English so in fact it improves my English because I’m more aware of which words are nouns.
Continuing with the grammar theme, German grammar is so wild. I love the German cases a lot because they’re something that seems so difficult to you at first, but now I know what case to use automatically and I feel like I’ve accomplished something. Then there’s the prepositions and German seems to have a load of prepositions compared to English and it can be kind of confusing because you won’t know which prepositions take which case at first but once you learn them it seems so satisfying to me to know the right case straight away. There seems to be some sort of stereotype that languages with cases are ridiculously difficult but it just requires practice!
(I’M SO SORRY IF I’M MAKING GERMAN SOUND RIDICULOUSLY COMPLICATED oops)
I love German conjunctions so much. Word order stays the same with coordinating conjunctions but with subordinating conjunctions the verb goes to the end and I just find that really cool. I’m sure the word order probably annoys a lot of people but I find it a very unique word order compared to English.
German has really cool words. Kühlschrank is german for fridge. It is made up of two words. Kühl means cool and Schrank means cupboard. The literal meaning is cool cupboard. That’s just really cool, how could you not love German!
German also has so many words that we don’t have in English. One of my favourites is Fernweh which is a longing for far-off places or feeling homesick for a place you have never been to. That word describes how I feel about Germany haha
I’m going to finish this now because this is already super long but I think it’s super sweet that you are learning German because you want to visit your friend. I hope you have fun when you visit her in Germany and I hope you’ll fall in love with the German language like I have.

what languages do you know so far?
Hello! My first language is English. I’ve been learning Irish since I was 4. My Irish isn’t great. I’ve been learning German since I was almost 13. I’m better at German than Irish, which is kind of odd. I’ve been learning Spanish for only a month or two.
Thanks for asking!

Sleigh bells, Christmas carol!!
Sleigh Bells: Can you whistle?
Sometimes I can! Sometimes I can whistle which is weird but sometimes I can’t and I’ve no clue why. I just tried now and I can whistle so I suppose it’s a yes for now. Whenever someone asks me to whistle, I’m usually magically unable to whistle haha
Christmas Carole: Would you change your name if you could?
I’d say yes, I would change it but I’m so indecisive that I’d probably never decide what to change it to and therefore my name will stay the same forever.
Thanks for asking

emailing teachers is the worst. I spend like an hour proofing a 3 sentence email looking to make it more professional and looking for errors even though I have like 3 spell/grammar checkers. And then when I finally send it I feel sick as it's 'free' now I can't edit it anymore. And then the teacher replies with like 'yeah das fine, dw - mr smith (sent from my iphone)'
THIS IS LITERALLY ME OMG the teacher replied and everything is fine now but I still feel sick rip
