Reposted from @pickletopilaf Kanchkolar Kopta . Green plantain koftas dunked in a spicy and flavourful broth. One of my favourites. The pieces of badams in the bites of the koftas are like cheap thrills 🤣😍❤️ . . . . #vegkofta #kofta #koftacurry #indiancurry #indianmasala #curryrecipe #kanchkola #kanchkolarkoftacurry #kanchkolarkofta #indianthali #kitchentales #kitchensofinstagram #tableware #lunch #lunchideas #desikhana #khanakhazana #pickletopilaf #foodblogger #kolkatafoodblogger #bengalifoodblogger #mumbaifoodies #delhistreetfood #foodporn #bengalifoods #bengalicuisine - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/CFL9AacFbGO/?igshid=dqlc8yva74ql

Reposted from @pickletopilaf Chaaltar Tok I don't know if Chaalta or Elephant Apple is had this way in any other community. For Bengalis, it is a sheer mouthwatering delicacy, a khatta-meetha or sweet-n-sour runny, syrupy dish in which sliced Chaalta pieces are cooked in a sugar syrup with while jeera and kalonji in a little mustard oil used for tempering. A pinch of salt and a dash of lime juice is added to make it heavenly! The best way to finish a lunch on a sultry, sweaty, icky summer afternoon. Especially in this month of Bhadra, when the heat is of a different kind (Bongs call this month Pocha Bhadro because of the gloomy heat that almost resembles a sauna!). Just sucking out the juicy Chaalta while the sweet-n-sour (the sourness is more than its sweet) syrup drips off the pieces... Bliss ❤️! . . Do you eat Chaalta? . . . #chaalta #chalta #tok #ombol #chutney #instalike #bestoftheday #moodygrams #igrefined #instagood #indiafoodbloggers #nomnom #bengalicuisine #recipeshare #cooklife #homemadedishes #homemadefood #foodpicture #foodfeed #pickletopilaf #bengalifoods - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/CE3kubvF_az/?igshid=cma78mbhb80t

Reposted from @pickletopilaf Til er Naru . Was craving something sweet and wasn't in a mood to go out and get some mishti from the local sweet shop. It's raining incessantly since yesterday here and even the thought of going out was out of question. Hence looked around the kitchen to find something sweet and after a few dates and raisins, discovered a packet of white sesame seeds lying on the kitchen shelf. Had recently bought a kilo of jaggery for the Kancha Tok that I made for @historywali 's #HistoryOnAPlate . So without wasting any more time, tried my hands in making these sesame laddoos, recalling the steps from what I had seen my mother doing during Lakshmi Puja. The trick was to ensure that the jaggery doesn't get overcooked (we call it Paak in Bengali) in order to prevent the final product from being too hard. Fortunately, the narus (yes, that's the name by which we call these tiny spheres of delish) turned out quite nice! The jaggery provided the much needed sweetness while the slight bitterness and crunch of sesame highlighted the sweet and texture of the naru. . Happy Monday people! . . . . . #naru #tilernaru #teelernaru #desidesserts #mishtisofbengal #sweetsofbengal #useyourcreativenoodles #unforgettable #traditionalrecipe #sesame #traditionalsweets #indiansweets #indiandishes #bengalifoods #bengalisweets #bengalicuisine #culinaryhistory #foods4thought #foodlovers #sweettoothforever #pickletopilaf #foodandapetite #kolkatarito #kolkatargolpo - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_h-X8F5-e/?igshid=chgmzkh145fm

Reposted from @pickletopilaf Yesterday's lunch thali was all-veg and full of greens! . So, I came across Katwar Data or simply Data Shaak (it's a kind of local green saag) in the local market. Immediately I got a few bunches for myself. With the fresh green leaves, I made the saag bhaja and have kept the stems (data in Bengali) for cooking a Chochchori. . In the platter, I had: 🍽️ Steamed rice 🍽️ Lau diye Dal / Musur Dal with Bottle Gourd 🍽️ Tomato-peyanj diye Dhynarosh / Okra tossed with tomato-onion 🍽️ Data Shaak bhaja / Data Greens Stir-fry 🍽️ Alu sheddho makha / Bengali-style mashed potatoes . Will upload the recipes for Data Shaak Bhaja, Lau diye Dal and Okra-Tomato-Onion stir fry soon! . . . . #vegrecipe #indianvegrecipes #food52grams #mycommontable #thali #indianthali #indianvegthali #vegthali #inmykitchen #foodpost #foodieflatlays #feedfeed #f52grams #thewayweeat #appetitejournal #eatyourgreens #eatlocal #bengalicuisine #bongeats #quarantinecooking #bbcgoodfood #gastropost #shaak #saagrecipe #indiancuisine #makeitdelicious #healthfood #healthyeating #pickletopilaf #vegan https://www.instagram.com/p/CCJOE5ZFLuS/?igshid=1fc477k8d8o95
