Hello! I just started to play Confinium, and it's awesome. I just arrived at the forest area and encountered Frog Prince. Areas are beautiful and I'm enjoying wandering around them a lot, here's something comforting to them. And the characters are cool, both their designs and personalities. I really like Pilot! He seems to be nice and cheerful person. And the ghosts all look very creative.

Have you played any OFF fangames and if so, are there any OFF fangames you recommend.

I've played a few! I played "HOME", "Play Ball", "Sincere Deceit" and "Confinium".

I recommend all of the ones I've played, but with asterisks attached sometimes- let me elaborate.

Read more below!

"HOME" is the very definition of an earnest game! Something about the way its graphics were made, the way its characters slowly grow to trust each other, and the original music-- It feels as though there's not a bad bone in that game's body.

I only met the developer, Felix, cursorily, but he was someone whose presence you missed when it was gone. And I still do.

"Play Ball" is a comedic OFF fangame! I don't remember the username of its dev, but I remember there being some genuinely hilarious bits in it. I believe I last played it in 2017 or so though, so your mileage (and my own by this point) may vary in 2023.

Not actually sure if that game was ever finished.

"Sincere Deceit" was made by someone I used to call my friend, but has since left the OFF community (as far as I know, at least!) and we fell out. It's far and away the most technically impressive game on this list, AND the most challenging. It's a gruelingly difficult game, in its combat, puzzles, and story content. It goes places; it's also very long, ~20 hours last I checked.

I haven't beaten it, but recommend giving it a shot.

Now "Confinium" just approaches the spin-OFF ethos in an incredibly fun way! It has a lot of interesting thematic content and characters, as well as a good bit of research done to support its kinda out-there version of OFF's world.

If the description: "You play as two Elsen pilots in the Batter's royal air force" sounds appealing to you, go ahead and play it - note especially that this game is a benchmark for original graphic assets in the OFF fangame genre! It really was a delight.

hi! just wanted to let you know that CONFINIUM definitely set a gold standard when it came to OFF fangames. i know that you've since ceased development on act 2, but what you've already completed has inspired me and so many others an unimaginable amount. the sheer amount of quality and care and originality and inspiration and worldbuilding put into every little thing just oozes out even on repeat playthroughs. thank you for bringing us CONFINIUM, xin!

How old are the confinium characters?

To be frank I never really gave it that much thought so they don't have set ages. Everyone is an adult with the exception of Frog Prince obviously, who is about 8 or 9 years old. Pilot and Navi are somewhere in their early 20s, over 21+ for sure. They're the same age and started their military training at the same time. Omni is somewhere in mid 20s as well. The King is about 30-ish. Lamashtu is somewhere in early 30s, while Naamah is in late 20s.
