A QUICK NOTE:
Hi friends! Taking a page out of @pixelnrd’s blog, I wanted to type up a much-belated introduction and disclaimer to this blog ahead of my story starting back up May 1. So, without further ado—
The Shakhovskoy family was originally began in summer of 2019. Their stories, as well as the kingdom of Krasnoyarsk, take heavy nods from Imperial Russia. Though I do not intend here to recreate any individual belonging to the Houses of Romanov, Windsor, or Hohenzollern, you will undoubtedly see similar storylines. If you feel anything I am writing is it any point too close to reality for your liking, I am happy to accept constructive feedback.
I am not a monarchist. I won’t go into my political beliefs beyond that here (mainly because I am almost positive none of you followed this blog to hear what I think), but this blog is in no way meant as an endorsement of absolute monarchies, as is found in Krasnoyarsk, nor any sort of monarchy.
And as for content- though this blog will never pass the point of PG-13, there are several sensitive themes in this blog that either have been or will be dealt with by the Shakhovskoys. All posts with sensitive subjects in them will be marked with a trigger warning directly below the title. Those themes include, but may not be limited to:
child death
miscarriage
classism
religious overtones
war, military involvement, etc.
assassination
major/minor character deaths
With all that said, I’d like to say another thank you to all 507 of you for your continued support and patience with me & this blog. Much love and thanks, and I’ll see you back in May!

I saw @pixelnrd do this, inspired by @applesaucesims and as I turned 25 yesterday I thought... why not? It was a lot of fun!
A mass of words under the cut, if you wanted to hear my thoughts etc...
I had a full fringe until I was about 7, when I convinced my mum to let me grow my fringe out. This lead to a long time with my hair clipped back. I hated it, but remember my best friend was also growing her fringe out which made me so happy that I wasn’t alone lol.
I have a dimple on my chin which I couldn’t find something similar to unless it was a tattoo (which obviously went for child and below).
My face has always been pretty round, and I’m not sure I managed to capture it quite right (it looked good when I originally made the sim, but now her cheekbones look too prominent. I literally have no prominence to my cheekbones at all hah)
How I used to get dressed as a toddler was so cute and it seemed so hard to translate it!!
I had such an awkward phase between about... 6 and 10. I was quite tomboy-ish, and used to be really self conscious about how big I was (I was always a lot bigger than my friends as a child, and I was also quite tall in primary school. Which is ironic because I’m pretty sure I haven’t grown in height since I was about 11 and levelled out at about 5″4.)
I LOVED those camo cargo trousers as shown in 2004, I used to wear them all the time!!
Then, in 2005 I went through a phase when I wore a beanie cap literally 24/7. My mum still wears a beanie now most of the time, so I think I probably got it from her lol.
I remember getting the reference outfit for 2006 so well. It was Christmas day, and my parents bought me the whole outfit as a present (the remake doesn’t do it justice. The boots were these dark brown ugg-type boots which were tied up with long strips of cotton. I was obsessed.), I had also received Harvest Moon Magical Melody for the Gamecube and my parents bought my Gamecube and (tiny) TV downstairs and I played it for hours on Christmas day.
2007 was the return of the cargo trousers. A staple for me.
I dyed my hair black in 2008. I don’t know why, I had just gotten my first boyfriend and I think I just wanted a change but my mum wouldn’t let me dye it blonde lol. IIRC it wasn’t meant to go so dark, I thought I’d grabbed a colour only a bit darker than my actual hair. It was my first & second year of secondary school, too, so I probably wanted to ~re-invent~ myself or something lol.
2010 was the year I wore coloured leggings all autumn. I had a brown pair, grey pair and burgundy pair and thought I looked SO cool. I think this was the first year I really started to experiment with make-up and I got blonde highlights which I thought was amazing.
I gradually got blonder 2010 through to 2012. I think these were the years I really started to get some confidence. I finished senior school in 2012 and went to college, and I was so chuffed when there were two Ashleigh’s in my class and my tutor had referred to me as the ‘blonde Ashleigh’ hah.
2014 was the year I got my first proper job and also the year I met my boyfriend. My style hasn’t changed much since then. I showed a couple of outfits I’d have wore to work (2018 & 2019) but since I left there late 2019 and tried to go self-employed, I’ve spent most of this year donning a hoody and leggings.
Of course, I had to include the make-up for 2018 (also known as year of the blinding highlight).
I’ve had glasses since I started driving in 2014, but only started wearing them over the last couple of years (I obviously used to wear them when I drove, as that was the main need for them originally, but I always used to take them straight off afterwards).
The main thing I noticed was my hair and make-up. I don’t think I quite did justice the 2010 heavy bronzer and barely any other make-up (something which I remember doing frequently as I was just getting into make-up) or the dark purple lip which I wore for most of 2017. Plus, I used to hate wearing my hair up, I was convinced it looked awful. Whereas now, I very rarely wear my hair in anything other than a messy bun or ponytail.
