LH: nah, not really (😂) yeah, of course! he's been here, so i'm not really welcoming him back. he's been in all the drivers' briefings. i've never seen anyone happier to not be driving [and still being here]. it's sort of thing where you'd pay not to have to go to another drivers' briefing when you've been to as many as i have, and daniel's just come in there of free will and he wasn't even racing. so, he'll be super up to speed. of course, as a sport, he deserves to be here. it's a shame to lose nyck 'cause i think he's one of the nicest cats we have here

LH: i don't know. i've not really thought about it too much. i hope that we will get there but [on] pure pace we're not really far away but everyone's developing at the same pace so that gap often stays the same. it's not easy to close that gap.

It takes time to build things. James Allison is great, we have a great relationship and he knows when to be strict. He has never been tender, to tell the truth. We had a great meeting the other day where all the heads of departments, George and I were, and we made sure we were on the same page. We have 100% confidence in them. And I believe that as a group, as a whole, we will get where we need to go.

You have to be careful about the decisions you make. You have to be very methodical in following this process otherwise you can lose weeks of development and tenths of performance. I wish the course was faster, but sadly that's not the case. - LH

definitely hopeful. mclaren was much quicker than us in the high speed but we were quicker in the low speed. this [track] is mostly low speed and medium speed, so hopefully we will be at least closer to the group. we've been working on the car constantly. it was good for us here last year so i'm really hoping it's good this weekend - LH

I always try to rely on my driving ability to make up for the deficit. But in the end it wasn't enough in many circuits. But this has been a good circuit for me in the past and I think last year proved to be a good one for us . As it is a medium to low speed circuit, I hope we will be closer. But I've heard that Red Bull may have an upgrade package for this weekend as well. So we'll have to see how that affects performance. - LH

On the Saturday night (Hungary pole), I think it was overwhelming, it was very emotional. It was an emotional feeling to finally be back there. I called my dad, had a great conversation with my dad. Then after that, I stayed until late, just preparing for the next day.

I was told from the team, 'look, we're not fighting for the win here because they're just too quick, unfortunately. You can't beat a car that's over half a second faster per lap in race pace, and from practice that's how it was.

So in my mind I was trying to figure out how to pull a rabbit out the hat and prove them wrong, obviously. And then sitting on the grid, it felt right, it felt back to where I'd been for a long time in my career, so it felt great to be up there, to be leading the formation lap.
