"Stay back dear, it's bad"
Warnings: Blood, Mentions of Injury, Talk about injury, mainly fluff, small amount of cursing (not too much, just the words: Damn and Hell)
Pairing: Darby Allin & our lovely OC. Melody Moxley (Jon's little sister)
Summary: after Revolution, Jon Moxley's little sister Melody, Meets Darby, Only because she's working in Medical while she heals from her match on dynamite 2 weeks prior
WC: probably 1k or 2k-ish (I'm sorry)
Author's Note: I have a couple oneshots or drabbles, I'll be making. Refraining from the smut since my Brain is filled with a tooth-rotting amount of fluffy stories, and Original Characters. And I will not be making smut fics with gore in them, this is just a oneshot of Jon's sister meeting Darby after the match at revolution, since the image of him lying there has been like permanently ingrained into my head.
[Melody's POV:]
After a long night of tending to so many injured wrestlers, I found my worst case of injury. I had to watch the matches since I was taken off the card 2 weeks ago. I hurt my wrist pretty bad in a match with my older brother, but besides that. I'm having fun working in medical that was until revolution, after the main event. I was practically screaming internally, I saw a wrestler go through a panel of glass. So I got my glass removing items ready, it was going to be a long night I could tell.
But I stood outside the medical room as Darby walked by, he gave a weak smile and said
"Stay back dear, It's bad" He limped into the room before sitting down
"Well, I'm the Worker thats on right now. My co-worker clocked out 2 hours ago." I huffed out with a frown
"Wait. So you've been dealing with half the roster for over 3 hours?!" He said
"Yeah, such is my life." I replied
"Well Damn. You have it rough." He said
"Alright, enough Chit-Chat, we gotta get the glass slivers out of your back and stitch you up." I sighed, putting gloves on.
I started removing the slivers, they were in there deep, I also had a towel for every other second I had to wipe this man's back off, after 1 tedious hour of work, I got all the slivers out, they now sat on a tray, I counted 299 slivers of glass.
"How the actual Hell did you manage to get 299 Glass slivers in your back?" I asked him
He didn't respond to my question, but I continued on. I started to stitch his head up, and I had to wipe his head occasionally. But that's fine.
"You've probably lost more blood then my brother in his match." I said
"Who's your brother?" He asked me
"My brother is Jon Moxley." I sighed
"Oh, You're Melody Moxley?" He said
"Yeah I am, Former woman's champ. Until I got injured" I sighed again
"How'd you get injured?" He seemed curious about my story
"I got my wrist slammed against an exposed turnbuckle, then had said wrist get crushed by a chair." I said with a sigh
"Oh, Damn. That had to hurt" He said
"Yeah it did." I said, rolling my eyes
[Darby's POV:]
This girl, despite us meeting like an hour ago, she seems quite tough. I like her style and how she is with medical so people don't make the same mistake as her. But I am impressed that she works for medical, even having a broken wrist.
She seems quite chill aswell, I like her.
[Melody's POV:]
After 2 more hours of work, I finished stitching up his head. I let out a audible sigh, and put the Bloodied towelette with the, for a lack of a better word. Stained Glass slivers, that tray was gonna end up most likely in the Hazmat or Dangerous Bin in the medical Office.
I got him to stand up, and I walked him to the door.
"Go to catering and get some food, but be careful." I warned him
"Uh.. actually, I was wondering if you.. maybe wanted to go to catering with me?" He said
"Oh- uh.. sure" I said, a small tinge of pink flushing my cheeks.
I grabbed his hand and we went to catering, we sat down and chatted a little
"So whats your name again?" He asked
"Melody, Melody Moxley" I said with a smile
"I'm Darby, Allin" He smiled back
"Nice to meet you!" I smiled widely
The End! ♡

Predictions for Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s Reign as AEW World Champion
Tumblr media
At the 2022 iteration of Full Gear, Maxwell Jacob Friedman won the AEW World Championship for the first time, defeating Jon Moxley in a rematch from All Out 2020. This victory was the culmination of MJF’s entire AEW career, who regularly refers to himself as better than everyone else, was a founding Pillar of the AEW youngsters, and created both The Pinnacle and The Firm to give himself the best opportunity to win the title.
MJF has already declared that his title reign will be a Reign of Terror, citing Triple-H’s 2002-05 reigns as World Champion on Raw, as well as Jeff Jarrett with TNA. Bearing that in mind, I legitimately believe that MJF will keep the title until Full Gear 2023, giving him a near or actual year-long reign (which would make him the longest reigning champion in AEW’s short history). I will explain my reasoning for MJF losing the title at Full Gear and why, but what about the journey to that event?
AEW produce four major PPVs per year, which are:
Revolution in March.
Double Or Nothing in May.
All Out in September (or end of August sometimes).
Full Gear in November.
The only other possible PPV that may occur could be another Forbidden Door crossover event with NJPW in June (maybe July this time to allow more time between it and Double Or Nothing). There may be other special episodes on Dynamite and Rampage that MJF appears on, but his hints towards only defending the title every 30 days cannot be ignored. So far, he has defeated Moxley in November, and defended against Ricky Starks in December at Winter Is Coming., so let’s assume he will defend monthly.
Currently, he is avoiding Bryan Danielson, who is determined to hurt MJF for attacking Danielson’s mentor William Regal. How long MJF can avoid Danielson is uncertain, but at the latest, MJF will surely defend the title against Danielson in the main event of Revolution, currently booked for March 5th. Until then, MJF could defend the title at January’s Battle of the Belts V, and then in February at a Beach Break special. The first match could be against someone with a recent big victory, such as Swerve Strickland against Wheeler Yuta, or even AR Fox for being one of the winners for the recent Casino Battle Royal, but the February event would likely be against Wheeler Yuta, in a continuation of MJF’s overall feud with Danielson.
Tumblr media
However, these matches also achieve something else, which is the gradual transition of some of the younger stars into the main event scene. We may see a lot more stars who have yet to feature in the main events. With that in mind, I think you’ll possibly see MJF defend the title in April against another member of the Four AEW Pillars, Sammy Guevara, who could cite his winning of the TNT Championship at both the first and second Battle of the Belts. This will a vital match as it will be the first AEW World Championship between two members of the Four Pillars, which will set up expectation for future events.
For Double Or Nothing, I think that we will see MJF defend his title against ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. The reason for this is that quite often in AEW booking, you will see cycles, arcs develop on similar PPVs (you only need to look at Page’s history with All Out, losing to Chris Jericho in 2019, and losing his tag titles in 2020. There’s a reason people predicted Page to win the AEW World Title at the 2021 edition before he went on paternity leave). At the first ever Double Or Nothing, MJF lost the inaugural Casino Battle Royal to Page, with the winner challenging to become the first ever AEW World Champion. The idea of MJF ever having forgiven Page for that is pretty much zero, and seeing the two battle four years after it happened will allow AEW to show the contrasting fortunes of both men.
Tumblr media
After Double Or Nothing, you have three months before All Out in September, so you can see MF face less likely wrestlers. Road Rager in June could see MJF face his past, as he defends the title against a determined Wardlow, his former bodyguard, while July may likely feature a Forbidden Door crossover. Knowing MJF, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see MJF refuse to participate, even lambasting the idea of ‘Fighting Spirit’, which could lead to a match many fans have wanted to see for the promos alone. As a huge fan of Japanese Wrestling, especially All Japan’s Kings Road classics, I could envisage Eddie Kingston defending the reputation of Strong Style in a match that fans would flock to see. Just to tantalise fans, I could see this match getting a Dusty Finish with MJF rubbing his keeping the title in fan’s faces.
August could see MJF defend against Keith Lee at Fyter Fest, who won the Tag Team Championships at the previous year’s event. This could culminate in a match at All Out against a man he’s never faced, and a former AEW World Champion, in Kenny Omega, who in previous years had defended the AEW World Title against Christian and was crowned the first ever Trios Champion.
Tumblr media
Finally, taking the cycles into account, there are two possibilities for who MJF will face at Full Gear. My theory, is that it will be either Darby Allin or Jack Perry, and the reason why is the history of the event. In 2019, you had Moxley and Omega in the main event in a Lights Out Match. In 2020, Moxley was in the main event as AEW Champion, while Omega defeated Page in the opening match. In 2021, you had Page defeating Omega for the title, while MJF beat Darby Allin in the opening match. One year later, MJF won the AEW World Title. In 2023, you have the possibility of returning to that cycle, similar to Omega and Page, but this time with Allin defeating MJF in the main event to become AEW World Champion for the first time. Or...you will have the winner of the opening match in 2022 having an arc over the next year to culminate in winning the AEW World Title in the main event, which would be Jack Perry, having defeated Luchasaurus in a Cage Match in 2022. For me, I think Jack Perry is more likely, but Darby Allin could win and be a short term champion. Maybe Tony Khan will fuck with me and make it a triple threat match? If not, whichever individual MJF loses to, he will defeat the other the previous month at Grand Slam (i.e. defeat Darby Allin at Grand Slam and then lose to Jack Perry at Full Gear).
January / Battle of the Belts V - Swerve Strickland or AR Fox
February / Beach Break - Wheeler Yuta
March / Revolution - Bryan Danielson
April / Battle of the Belts VI - Sammy Guevara
May / Double Or Nothing - Adam ‘Hangman’ Page
June / Road Rager -
July / Forbidden Door -
August / Fyter Fest - Keith Lee
September / All Out - Kenny Omega
October / Grand Slam -
November / Full Gear - ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry or Darby Allin.
And so, MJF’s reign will end one year later, having passed the belt over to the next member of the Four Pillars. Thoughts?

MJF
Brian Cage (FTW champion)
Ricky Starks
Eddie Kingston
Sammy Guevara
Powerhouse Hobbs
Matt Hardy
Shawn Spears
Wardlow
Unranked: Brandon Cutler, Colt Cabana, Michael Nakazawa, Peter Avalon
One of the things I like about AEW is that they’ve got so many guys in the mix and I usually know off the top of my head what any of them is up to.  Granted, some of these guys aren’t doing very much, but I at least have a sense of their character and storyline while they’re on the back burner.  I used to like that about WWE, years ago.  But somewhere around 2000 they lost the ability to focus on more than a handful of characters at any given time, which is a big problem when you have a hundred performers on your roster.
As a result, it feels more organic to me when guys like Eddie Kingston and Team Taz jump out of the undercard into the AEW title picture.  On Raw, these guys would be random nobodies in R-Truth skits until Vince McMahon suddenly decided to present them as killer threats to Drew McIntyre, and then they’d lose the title match and be nobodies again.  In AEW, there’s a better flow between “beating jobbers on Dark” and “beating name guys on Dynamite” and “punking out a champion to disrupt the rankings” and “recovering from a big loss by beating midcarders.”  That’s something I haven’t seen in US wrestling for so long, I forgot how much I missed it.
PROTIP FOR TONY KHAN: Try doing that with the women sometime, kthx
Men’s tag team division - babyfaces
The Young Bucks - Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson (AEW tag team champions)
Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian
Best Friends - Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta
Lucha Bros. - Penta El 0M & Rey Fenix
Jurassic Express - Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt
Private Party - Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy
Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss
The Gunn Club - Billy Gunn & Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn
The Varsity Blondes - Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison
Top Flight - Darius Martin & Daunte Martin
Men‘s tag team division - heels
FTR - Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler
Chris Jericho & Jake Hager
Miro & Kip Sabian
The Butcher & The Blade
Evil Uno & Stu Grayson
John Silver & Alex Reynolds
The Hybrid2 - Jack Evans & Angelico
The Acclaimed - Anthony Bowen & Max Caster
Chaos Project - Luther & Serpentico
Alan Angels & Preston Vance
This has to be the deepest tag team division I’ve ever seen in pro wrestling.  I suppose maybe some group in Mexico might have more teams.  But 20 active teams is practically unheard of for a major-league US promotion.  Even New Japan could only find 10 teams for World Tag League, and half of them were one-off combinations.
One caveat is that the “Jericho and Hager focus on tag wrestling” thing may or may not be a long-term direction.  And Colten, Pillman, Garrison, and Serpentico are not (to my knowledge) under contract.  But that’s balanced out a bit by the tandems that haven’t competed in the last 30 days (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall, Santana & Ortiz), and the potential for other alliances to be full-time dedicated tag teams (MJF & Wardlow, Team Taz).
The advantage of having this many teams is that you get booking in the tag division like you’d see in the singles divisions of most promotions.  You can actually have four or five teams on hot streaks, because there are plenty of lesser teams to put them over, so they don’t have to go 50-50 with each other.  You can actually have a group of teams acting as a midcard, that lose to the top guys but can beat anybody else.  And there are maybe six teams here that I’d call jobber teams, but they still win sometimes because they beat each other, or the freelancers on AEW Dark.  It’s a good ecosystem.
Women’s singles division - babyfaces
Hikaru Shida (AEW women’s world champion)
Big Swole
Serena Deeb (NWA women’s world champion)
Thunder Rosa
Leva Bates
Shanna
Leyla Hirsch
Red Velvet
KiLynn King
Women’s singles division - heels
Nyla Rose
Britt Baker
Abadon
Anna Jay
Penelope Ford
Diamante
Ivelisse
The AEW women’s division suffered a lot this spring from injuries and travel restrictions, but I’d say they’ve mostly recovered from those setbacks.  Most of the women listed above weren’t even in the company before March.  Collaborating with the NWA (Thunder Rosa) and pushing freelancers (Diamante, Ivelisse, Hirsch, Velvet, and King) has yielded a deeper roster than they had in 2019.
That being said, TV time is still an egregious problem for this division.  AEW is clearly wary about chasing viewers off to NXT if they run too many women’s segments on Dynamite.  If feels like they’re waiting for something that’ll make it the right time to actually push the division.  But the perfect moment will never come, so they might as well go with the hand they have.
It looks like the brewing Brandi Rhodes vs. Jade Cargill feud is going to expand to include (at least) Nyla, Swole, Deeb, Velvet, Diamante, and Ivelisse.  So if we see various matchups among those women for a few weeks (alongside Shida vs. Abadon and Baker vs. Rosa), then great!  If it just means one multi-woman tag on Dynamite, then it doesn’t really address the problem.
No matches in the last 30 days: Emi Sukara, Jade Cargill, Mel, Santana, Ortiz, QT Marshall, Riho, Tay Conti, The Bunny, Yuka Sakazawi
At some point CIMA and T-Hawk were quietly removed from the roster on AEW’s website.  With Shanna and PAC back in Jacksonville, that only leaves Sukara, Riho, and Sakazawi as the contracted performers out of action because of the pandemic.
Part-timers: Awesome Kong, Dallas Page, Dasha, Rebel, Sting
Kong has been out for nearly a year with no explanation besides a kayfabe injury.  My understanding was that she would be taking time off to film GLOW, but then the show was canceled, so I don’t know if she’s healing from real injuries or taking time off or what.  DDP is 64 and the last time I saw him on AEW programming he was mentoring QT Marshall from inside his house, so I’m pretty sure he won’t be back until after the pandemic.  Dasha and Rebel aren’t listed by AEW as wrestlers but they’ve each had matches this year.
Interestingly, Sting is listed on the official roster as a competitor with a 0-0 record in the promotion.  That seems like the surest sign yet that AEW plans to book him in a match.  He’s 61, but I suppose DDP wrestled this year at 63 years old.  He was forced into retirement with spinal stenosis, but I suppose Edge came back from that after a lot of rest and for a lot of money.
Inactive
Brodie Lee (ankle - undisclosed injury)
Brandi Rhodes (arm - storyline injury)
Kris Statlander (left knee - ACL tear)
I’m kinda surprised there aren’t more people on the shelf than this.  (And technically Brandi isn’t really hurt and probably won’t be selling it much longer.)  It feels like AEW has had a lot of injury problems this year, but I suppose they’ve managed to avoid a lot of major surgeries.

Double or Nothing preview
Been a while, hasn’t it?
Jon Moxley vs. Brodie Lee - This will be Moxley’s second defense of the AEW men’s world championship since winning the title on February 29.  Impressively, Mox is already the longest-reigning champion in AEW history, holding the title for an incredible 823 days over the past three months.
The story is fairly basic: on May 6 Lee sent his stable, the Dark Order, to dogpile Moxley before he demanded this match and walked off with the title belt.  Lee has lots of backup, but Mox is too stubborn to back down.
Brodie Lee was formerly known as Luke Harper in WWE, where he was usually a member of Bray Wyatt’s cult, the Wyatt Family.  After a 2018 biceps injury, he was used very sparingly, and requested his release in April 2019.  WWE used him even more sparingly, but finally let him go in December.  In January the Dark Order began teasing an unseen leader known as “the Exalted One,” who was finally revealed to be Lee once his WWE no-compete clause expired in March.
Lee played a cult member for almost all of his WWE run, but it seems like his  strongest impression of how cult leaders act was not Bray Wyatt but WWE chairman Vince McMahon.  Everyone at AEW seems to deny a direct parody--and for all I know it really isn’t intentional--but it’s not subtle how his on-screen behavior resembles accounts of Vince’s off-screen idiosyncrasies.  Which adds an extra wrinkle to the story, given Moxley’s very public, very blistering criticism of McMahon when he left WWE last year.
AEW has claimed this show’s card is mostly what was planned before the pandemic forced them to move from Las Vegas to a closed set in Jacksonville.  Even so, I feel like this would have been a very week title match on any of AEW’s previous pay-per-views, and it’s hard to believe they were really going to headline with this in the MGM Grand.  My gut says that under normal circumstances this match would be given away on free TV.  But these aren’t normal circumstances, so I guess you might as well do this now and save a bigger match for when fans are back.
I think there is zero chance of Lee actually winning the title, so the only question is how much Moxley will have to do to retain.
Chris Jericho & Jake Hager & Sammy Guevara & Ortiz & Santana vs. Kenny Omega & Hangman Page & Matt Hardy & Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson - This is being billed as a “stadium stampede” match.  A ring will be set up in the middle of TIAA Bank Field, the home stadium of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  I’m guessing the match will start in the ring, but the rules allow the wrestlers to fight anywhere in the stadium, so I’m not sure why it matters.  The match cannot end by count-out or disqualification, and falls count anywhere.
This feud started in October when Jericho recruited Hager, Guevara, Ortiz, and Santana to form The Inner Circle, to help him oppose The Elite (Omega, the Young Bucks, Page, and Cody Rhodes).  The two teams were set for a ten-man “war games” style cage match on March 25, but to give Nick Jackson paternity leave he was “injured” and Matt Hardy was announced as his replacement.  The match was scrapped altogether in light of the coronavirus pandemic.  On May 13, Jericho proposed issued a challenge to the Elite for this match.  Since Cody is already booked on the card, Hardy is subbing for him this time instead of Nick.
Most of the people in this match have wrestled very sparingly since AEW started running closed-set shows on March 18, although the Inner Circle has been back at full strength since May 6.  Part of the intrigue is that Page and the Bucks were off AEW television in over two months, so Jericho is suggesting that the Elite barely exists anymore.  Ring rust will almost surely be a factor, as Matt Jackson hurt his ribs doing a spot in his big return on May 20.  So even though this match features some of the best talent in the world, I could easily see it getting “bowling shoe ugly” very quickly.
It’s almost lost in the shuffle that this is Hardy’s first real big match since jumping from WWE to AEW and reviving his “Broken Matt Hardy” gimmick from Impact Wrestling.  Hardy was originally in this to support his friends, but it became personal when Jericho “killed” his beloved quadcopter drone, Vanguard 1.  It’s pretty clear AEW wants to build to a high-profile Hardy-Jericho match, but the coronavirus situation has probably screwed up their idea of when that can happen.
I’d like to see the Elite finally settle the score with the Inner Circle, but I can’t help but think this feud must continue, and putting the heels over is the easiest way to do that.  However, I suppose the babyfaces could pin someone other than Jericho or Hager without really resolving the feud.
Cody Rhodes vs. Lance Archer - This is a tournament final to determine the first person to hold the new AEW TNT championship.  Cody defeated Shawn Spears and Darby Allin to advance to this match.  Archer defeated Colt Cabana and Dustin Rhodes.  Mike Tyson will present the title belt to the winner for some reason.
TNT is the name of the channel that airs Dynamite in the US, so this is basically a modern take on the old television titles.  In the days before pay-per-view specials, wrestling TV shows were designed to build to big matches at untelevised events, with the idea that you had to pay for a ticket to see the real big shows.  In that business model, televised title bouts were somewhat rare, so a television championship would stand out for being regularly defended on TV.  There’s a lot of nostalgia for the concept, but nobody’s really come up with a good way to make it work in the modern era.  (Hell, I barely understood the point of the WCW TV title 30 years ago.)  I know AEW management feels strongly about avoiding the stigma of a “midcard title,” so I’m curious to see what they come up with here.
Archer has been built up very well as the biggest and most monstrous of the big monster heels.  He really needs to win his first big PPV match in the company to maintain his momentum.  But at the same time, Archer’s manager Jake Roberts has been a huge dirtbag to Cody’s wife Brandi, so that really needs to be avenged.  It’s really impressive how AEW can build these matches up with really simple things that defy one’s “this guy has to win” logic, which makes the match more exciting.  My money’s on Archer, but I have to root for Cody.
Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida - Rose is making her second defense of the AEW women’s world championship.  Shida earned this title shot by winning a four-way match on May 13.
This match feels a little cold to me, probably because both women were absent from TV for about a month.  AEW’s women’s division has always struggled to be relevant but it’s been hit particularly hard by the pandemic.  Between travel bans and wrestlers electing to stay home, a huge chunk of the roster has been unavailable.  Nevertheless, Rose still comes across as a big dominant juggernaut, and Shida still feels like the babyface they’ve been saving for a special occasion, so it’s like everything worked out in the end.
Shida makes sense as the next women’s champion, but it feels too early.  Even though Nyla has held the title since February, her absence in April makes it feel like she hasn’t had enough time to really make it her own.  I have to pick Rose to retain.
Casino Ladder Match - This is a nine-man match, where the winner will earn the right to challenge the AEW men’s world champion.  Like any ladder match, an objective (a casino chip in this case) will be suspended above the ring, and ladders will be provided for the participants to use and climb; the first man to retrieve the objective wins the match.  However, participants will enter the match gauntlet style, with two men starting and an additional man entering every 90 seconds.  In theory, the match could end before everyone has entered, but I doubt it’ll come to that.
The plan a year ago was to make the “casino battle royale” an annual tradition at Double or Nothing, but I’m guessing that wasn’t feasible this year.  Social distancing guidelines and battle royales (battles royale?) don’t go well together.  Then again, neither do nine-person ladder matches, although it’s possible the gauntlet stip will help limit the action to two or three people in the ring at any given time.
Eight participants have been announced: Orange Cassidy, Colt Cabana, Darby Allin, Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian, Kip Sabian, Luchasaurus, and (as a late substitution for Rey Fenix) Joey Janela.  It looks like the ninth entrant won’t be revealed before the show, which is actually kind of exciting considering how many hot free agents are available at the moment.  I’m not saying it will be one of the people WWE recently released, but it makes at least as much sense as using Billy Gunn or something.
I don’t have a strong sense of who should win, because the winner is probably just going to lose to Jon Moxley on a free TV match.  I guess the question is, who would be the best opponent for Moxley in that situation?  I’m leaning towards Darby Allin, but not much.  If the mystery entrant is any good, though, that could change everything.
MJF vs. Jungle Boy - There’s not much of a story here.  MJF was riding high after a big win over Cody Rhodes on February 29, but then he was out for about a month, presumably due to the pandemic.  He claimed he was sidelined by a devastating hangnail, but I don’t know if I buy that.  Upon his return, he was told he’d be facing Jungle Boy here, and he wasn’t happy.  Since then, they’ve been kinda teasing Jungle Boy’s buddy Luchasaurus against MJF’s henchman Wardlow, so we’ll probably get more teases for that.
Listen, I’m not saying Jungle Boy is going to target the pinkie finger that had the hangnail.  I’m definitely not saying Jungle Boy is going to bite MJF’s finger, or that MJF will sell it like he’s been shot.  I’m just saying that would be a really good idea that would be worth the full price of the pay-per-view.
But I have a feeling MJF will win anyhow.
Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford - This was originally going to be Statlander against Britt Baker, but Baker suffered a knee injury on May 20.  I’m becoming a big Baker fan (I mean, boo, she’s mean, but y’know), so it sucks that she’s sidelined.  But it’s kinda cool that Ford gets to step up here.  She seems talented, but she hasn’t been pushed too hard except as Kip Sabian’s girl.  Then again, I like Statlander’s alien hijinx too.  Can I just bet that all the wrestlers will have a good time?
Shawn Spears vs. Dustin Rhodes - The entire heel gimmick for Spears is that he hates Cody Rhodes, which isn’t so great since he only fights Cody once every few months.  Anyway, he got eliminated in the TNT title tournament by Cody, and since then he’s been giving Dustin shit.  When Dustin was eliminated from the tournament in a bloody match with Lance Archer, Cody teased throwing in the towel but didn’t.  So Spears is trying to make big deal about Cody not rescuing Dustin, and Dustin being a washed-up has-been.  I’m pretty sure Dustin is just going to beat his ass and that’ll be it.
Chuckie T & Trent Beretta vs. Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen - This is scheduled for the pre-show.  The winning team will earn a shot at the AEW tag team championship.  So I guess that means Kenny Omega and Hangman Page have to do the title match soon, which suggests Page can’t immediately go back to hiding in the woods.  Maybe?  I mean, good for Hangman staying at home.  I’m just saying I don’t have a clue what’s going on in the tag team division.  Anyway, Kassidy and Quen are cool and they’ll be big someday, but it’s pretty clear that AEW thinks “someday” is ways off.  The Best Friends are the clear favorite to win, although an upset isn’t totally impossible.
