Book Recommendation #1

Goodreads | Book 1 Book 2 | Tanaz Bhathena

The Wrath Of Ambar Duology by Tanaz Bhathena is one of my most favourite YA fantasy series' ever!! This book series is set an Indian (& Persian) culture and Hindu mythology inspired world, and it is UNPUTDOWNABLE!

There is a distinct lack of books that are *not* retellings of the Mahabharata when it comes to books which take inspiration from Hindu Mythology, and to find this series when I was getting incredibly frustrated with Indian-inspired fiction was a boon, honestly!

Bhathena does an incredible job of building a world that's complex and does not shy away from talking about the more cruel parts of Indian culture. She touches on the atrocities of the cast system and the rampant misogyny, but at the same time, she does not demonize the "common man" as it were. Everyone has a responsiblity to be receptive to change, but the government has a duty to bring that change about, and this book does a great job of showing how sometimes governements keep opppressive systems in place for their own gain.

While all this political and social commentary is heavy and present throughout, there is also some really fun banter, a sweet romance and a very interesting magic system in this series! The story is pretty much your standard Chosen One narrative, but it really did not get the least bit boring for me! Not because of the plot itself, but because the setting and the characters make it so engaging that you just want to keep reading!

Bhathena has talked about how she took inspiration from The Gulabi Gang for the group of all-female rebels in this book called The Sisterhood of the Golden Lotus. Which is like. HELLO??? These women are The Coolest™ part of this series and I adore them so much!!!

I definitely liked the first book more, mostly because it is a story that's character driven and it lets you explore Ambar as a setting and ~feel~ it out a little. The sequel is very plot-intensive and super fast paced, and I felt a little disconnected to all these characters I had grown to love for a good quarter of the book. It didn't dampen the enjoyment of the series that much for me, but it did feel like a little step down from the first book, so....you know.

Overall, though, this series made for a super enjoyable reading experience and made me feel all warm inside because it had characters who looked like me and dressed like me and ate like me in it!! I genuinely forgot that I was reading a book in English, tbvh. Like I'd read a very angrezi word and then realize that 'oh, wait, this isn't hindi!' That's how immersive it was!!!

LASTLY, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THOSE COVERS, HELLO???

Definitely pick this lovely series up if you're someone interested in Young Adult fiction because you're gonna have a great time! Also hmu if you've read and/or are reading these books and would like to scream about events etc.,

history.

one could say that roxy had lived an easy life, though her parents weren’t distinguished by their social status, it didn’t mean they lacked money which was enough to support their daughter in whatever she wanted to do.

truth to be told, roxy was indeed a little spoiled, the type of kids who would try all kind of things on the expenses of their parents only to quit a new ‘hobby’ again. she could barely stick to anything. she was some twisted kind of golden child, good at many things but never had the patience to continue something for long enough to cultivate it.

skipping over the part where she almost tried everything from arts, music etc. she finally found her passion ( and even roxy herself was surprised ). figure skating. she didn’t know what drew her in, she couldn’t explain it, she tried it and it felt right. roxy always describes the feeling as finding a soulmate if she feels extra dramatic that day.

unsurprisingly, she was good at it. not that kind of good at something she was at all the other things she tried before, but that being good at which stemmed from genuine interest. maybe, that is why she managed to get so far. and it didn’t take too long that people even started to call her a figure skating prodigy.

at this point at her life, she had it all, spinning the stars on her fingertips ( or warning bad pun ahead: spinning on the ice ). until, well, her parents company was in some crisis and they had to cut corners in the meantime. also oh so ‘conveniently’ roxy lived at the arse end of nowhere and getting to her practices was now even more difficult because as mentioned before they had to save their money for more necessary things. of course, there were more things , small and big, which totally threw her off ( which i am too lazy to list rn).

roxy tried to work part time, but a) the money wasn’t enough b) she didn’t want to cut more hours of training she managed to get. AND well, here comes the turning point and roxy thinking she was oh-so-smart without realizing that it would cost her career. oh-so-smart roxy came up with the idea to , well, just steal some stuff. after all, she trained with many other wealthy peers and she could just sell off their stuff or something.

at the beginning she only did it to afford certain things she needed, but soon it somehow became an addiction. she felt in control when everyone else in her life was an utter mess. however, the more she took things away from others the more she felt comfortable, doing it more often and sometimes taking things which weren’t even worth that much. it was only a matter of time until she was caught. and as if she was lucky for too long, the person who caught her pressured her into either giving them a hefty sum of money (which she didn’t have) or to quit figure skating. she decided for the latter.

well, here she was and her sudden departure was quite a shock. but she had no choice and stated it was for personal reasons.

skipping over her being devastated over it, etc. her parents managed to save their company (whatever this company is) but at this point it was already too late and roxy was accepted into holloway.

right now she actually wants to pick up her figure skating career again, however, she’s too afraid that the blackmailer is going to expose her and also she doesn’t really know who they are (lets pretend they wrote her letters, txt messages >??) and also she’s kind of afraid due to the lack of practice she had .

personality.

okay i’ll keep this short bcs i wrote way too much for her background story. but to sum it up, roxy kind of has that perfect girl facade. considering how many friends roxy has and how social she appears to be it is odd that no one seems to be able to describe her. roxy doesn’t want people to know who she truly is, and she keeps her distance as she actively avoids conflicts that might cause her to say something wrong and exposes herself.

she shields her feelings by only presenting polished version of herself, the facade of the perfect girl: kind, hard-working and polite. someone whose life is easy and someone who looks like she doesn’t have any worries. it doesn’t mean she isn’t anything of that, but it’s not as if her kindness has no bounds or that she doesn’t need to put effort into the things she does. nevertheless, she believes that she must be perfect in order to make people like her. and while, she is pretty good at masking her emotions and smile along, as soon as someone threatens to see past the illusion, she will become defensive and won’t hesitate to lie in order to preserve it.

plots.

best friends: although roxy pretty much keeps her distance from everyone else, this person had always stood by her side. maybe they knew about roxy’s sudden wannabe-thief phase ( which she is still in ) and well tried to talk her out of it ( which obviously didn’t work ). also adding some drama here and maybe they had a big argument over it and distanced from each othr because of it. however, my angst ass doesn’t want to ruin it and they’ll rekindle their friendship. they might meet again at holloway and it’s awkward at first, maybe they even have some arguments but they’ll get over it because everyone loves a good rekindled friendship story.

annoyance: someone who gets under roxy’s skin.seeing past the perfect girl face and constantly calling her out on it. maybe they just have fun annoying her and want to see what she really likes or they just don’t like roxy , thinking that beneath all of this act, she is a really unpleasant person. perhaps, they’re even doing it with good intentions and want to show her that she doesn’t need to hide who she is. whatever it is, they’re determined to expose to the world who she really is.

pen pal ??: muse a and roxy had been friends for a very long time, yet the funny thing is that they’ve never met each other nor do they know what the other look like. all they know is their name ( or maybe they only know each other by their usernames ) and their deepest secrets. maybe they already have crossed paths many times and perhaps even know each other but don’t like each other irl. or they never had noticed the other.

blackmailer: BECAUSE WHY NOT??? the person who forced roxy to give up on figure skating. maybe, they were a rival or just didn’t like her, or any other reason. they might as well, have noticed that roxy is secretly training again and might be back at their shit again.

exes: GIVE ME THE ANGST, maybe muse a and roxy used to be in a serious relationship and as naive they were back then both of them thought this love would last forever. however, at some point roxy started to distance herself from muse a, constantly cancelling their dates because of their busy schedule. at first muse a tried to be understanding towards her, but as time passed things only got worse. roxy hating any kind of conflict just decided to ignore the problem instead about talking about it and eventually stopped replying to muse a messages. muse a never really got to know the real reason behind their break up and was left with unanswered questions. but anything works

unrequited love: (this is just me throwing in my favourite way to make myself suffer) It doesn’t matter who is the one with the the one sided love because i just want some good angst.a) muse a has a crush on roxy, yet they never told her about it. yet, muse a can’t hide it and it doesn’t take too long until roxy notices it. but instead of trying to talk to muse a about it, roxy just ignores it acting as she usually does and perhaps even give them false hope that she might like them back. maybe muse a even confessed to her and because roxy didn’t want to hurt them she told muse a she’d think about it.

b) roxy has a crush on muse a but doesn’t admit it. she doesn’t want to show their vunerable side and just plays it down. maybe they’re friends and roxy doesn’t want to lose another friend. but one day she confesses to muse a on accident, making everything awkward between them.

someone she stole from: idk i thought this would be fun ? maybe she confessed to them about it or maybe they caught her but decided to not confront her about it.

fan: someone who used to watch her perfomances on their tv and is still not over the fact that she quit.

when i saw there was a vacancy for the owner of reel tide cinema i just knew i had to bring my son ethan into this group. his parents would have bought the place back in the 80s and now that his dad passed away her mom must likely put it in his name since she doesn’t feel like she’s capable of running the place all by herself.

ethan grew up in that movie theater, spending his early childhood sneaking into exhibitions of films he had no business of seeing at that age and helping his folks renovate the halls with a fresh coat of paint. nothing else has ever changed about the cinema and he likes it that way .... in all its original, outdated, moldy, classic glory.

anyways, up with two film enthusiasts as parents and just about the easiest environment to learn about movies in general it’s really no wonder that ethan always dreamt of becoming a big hollywood director. he’d pull out his camera anywhere he went, filming little scenery shots, his friends talking, stray dogs eating and anything else he found worthwhile. he was a completely geek.

he got into UCLA with a scholarship for filmmaking and screenwriting but ended up dropping out and pursuing directing on his own. his first ever film was an absolute knockout at every film festival it was showcased in and he went on to win a spirit award for best director and being nominated for as oscar. ever since then his life has been a roller coaster of awards and amazing movies he’s either directed, produced, written or a combination of the three.

hanging out with the big guns of hollywood has certainly refined his taste. he’s a lot more judgmental and short tempered than before, uninterested in ideas or conversations he doesn’t find remotely interesting. on the bright side he’s extremely creative, smart and cultured. Woke, if you will. he’s also a big perfectionist and won’t quit until something is done exactly how he wants it done.

coming back into town he feels like a stranger, like the odd man out, as if over the years he broke the tether that connected him to this place and can’t seem to find it anymore. but he needed a break and his dad just passed away so he thought it’d be nice of him to come help his mom for a while ... breathe a simpler air than the one of hollywood and la.

wanted connections: a childhood best friend that was also rly into movies, a girlfriend he left behind to go to college, a fling he would have whenever he’d come in and out of town in his early 20s, some kind of rival or enemy bc those are always fun. and MORE. ANYTHING.

drug use, neglect and abuse trigger warning !!!

boy oh boy, yall bettle settle in your seats bc you’re in for a RIDE

this messy binch did not have it easy for most of her upbringing. without delving too much into more triggering subjects, she was taken from her drug addict parents and put into the foster system due to neglect. she was put in a number of foster homes but the families never rly cared abt her nor the other kids ... they just wanted to make bank of the financial support given to adopting families. the last foster home was the worst of all, to the extent she had to beat up the father with a bat as to not let him do ... things he shouldn’t be doing to children.

this would explain why at age 16, when she was told a nice family from misty hollow wanted to adopt a whole ass teenager she thought it was a prank or a sick joke. she did not believe it and even after she moved in she did everything to try and show them they shouldn’t keep her. but they did. and she’s never felt more loved in her life.

thing is, ever since mallory got to town she’s done nothing short of cause utter and complete havoc. straying good angelic teens from their rightful paths, leading married individuals ( read both male and female ) into the sinful hands of adultery, trespassing into abandoned locations, getting arrested for misdemeanors.

no-one ever knows what to expect of her. she’s completely unreliable and too smart for her own good. she’s got a stellar intuiton and she’ll play you before you can even think about it. charming as can be when she wants to. loud mouthed, unhinged, moody. drinking, doing drugs, having sex, keeping secrets. that’s the best description of mal i can give you.

oh and a completely useless detail: she refuses to wear anything other than high top chuck taylor converse. she has them in every color, pattern and even platforms.

wanted connections: a total partner in crime, someone she corrupted, relationships that ended badly ( screams, tears, cheating, toxicity !! all the angst ), fwbs, the ‘i hate you but i can’t get enough of you pls answer my call i’m so horny’, someone whose marriage/engagement/relationship she broke off bc they cheated with her ( i love my lil homewrecker ), a yin to her yang ... and literally anything else.

hello, hello, hello - it is i, your beloved count olaf faye. this is my like 400th rookies muse, but i am back yet again to give my muses another shot. this is my babe saerom, a brand new muse, and she’s ready to freaking rumble. she’s a “can’t keep a job” type of girl who just loves to do whatever she wants! in all honesty, she’s a sweetheart but she doesn’t let that show quiet often. you read all about her on this page ( thank you to the lovely ume for the template asdfgh ) and take a look here for some more detailed open plots.

she’s had a few jobs after graduating college, but right now she cleans houses for people ( mainly rich families who pay her well ) and is a freelance singer. she mostly performs at clubs or little hole in the wall restaurant, but she also does some busking for a little extra cash.

she’s got her a doggie named soju whom she loves very much

been a singer for as long as she can remember! started out a church/school so she asked if she could take lessons since all of her brothers got to do sports and shit

a little bit about her past part one: she is the only daughter of five children; she’s got three older brothers and one younger one. ps if anyone wants to bring in another muse, hmu for some sibling connections asdfghjkl

a little bit about her past part two: growing up it was just easier to get along with the boys than girls because of her brothers, but this wasn’t a problem until the girls were old enough to adopt jealous into their relationships with saerom. her brothers were pretty protective but they couldn’t stop whatever shitty words they called her. all the girls thought she was a slut, and guys thought she was tease.

a little bit about her past part three: she tried to fit in with the girls a bit more in high school so she joined the cheerleading team. this went pretty okay, but didn’t help her too much. let’s just say college was a relief for her. she’s really got a fuck it attitude towards the whole thing, but it really bothered her for awhile.

she’s really close with her family and right now she actually lives with one of her brothers and his pregnant wife - annnnd she’s dreading for that baby to come because she’ll probably have to find somewhere else to live :)

saerom is kinda the weak link in the family because all the adults have their lives figured out, and here she is out of college working wherever she can find ( nothing serious or long term ) but her parents don’t really expect much other than her producing grandkids so :):):):)

she likes to write her own lyrics sometimes, but she keeps this pretty private!

social media wise, she keeps a pretty low and casual profile. occasionally she’ll post clips of her singing or where she’ll be performing next, on instagram/twitter but it’s all casual after that.

one of her brothers is a fitness & health instructor so she’s pretty into hitting the gym and skipping out on junk food. she often tries to convince her friends to join this lifestyle as well, but ice cream is often too tempting.

( TW BRIEF MENTION OF HOMOPHOBIA ) college for saerom is how she figured out more of who she was. her parents kept a tight leash on her in high school because she was too “pure” and they feared corruption. in college, she was away from home and could do whatever she wanted - and they included pursuing whoever and whatever she wanted. one way or another, she figured out that girls were always too appealing and boys were usual a hit or miss. saerom identifies as bisexual, but knows how her parents will react so this is a secret very few people know. ( END TW )

saerom is brutally honest sometimes, but that’s mainly because she’s a shit liar. don’t ask her to lie because you will be disappointed.

the empress and emperor of korea had 5 kids, 4 daughters, 1 pampered son and evie was the second oldest daughter after dianna but like, she’s bossy and high strung and acts like the oldest anywayS so it doesn’t matter!

woo! however, korean tradition is rooted deeply in patriarchy and other backwards thinking, >:(((( so evie’s parents basically pretended like their son was the only kid they had and sent evie and her 3 sisters off to swedish boarding school to ROT as they each turned 10 and forgot abt them while they groomed their son for the throne! thx mom n dad! luv u too! sdjlaksjd

during her time at boarding school evie was expected to not learn much of anything, not do anything spectacular, she wasn’t expected very good grades or to be smart or successful or anything bc that was Men’s Work and so evie did . . . THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

evie EXCELLED in school, straight a’s, top of her class, honors, ap valedictorian, which meant all nighters, nose bleeds at 2am from studying too hard, looking dead walking through the hallways, eating ramen 25/8, falling asleep w her face in her textbooks, getting bullied a lot for being a nerd and Not looking like her sisters and like...the creature from the black lagoon.

her parents, understandably, were not very happy with this but it wasn’t until she wanted to go to medical school that her parents were like FURIOUS. to them, women, esp the princesses, were only supposed to get married, have kids, THAT WAS IT. so evie wanting to be a doctor enraged them. STAY MAD!

they tried to have her engaged SO. MANY. TIMES. but she has a really repellent personality, she’s very kat stratford from 10 things i hate about you. and is rude and states her very liberal very socialist opinions often, dresses sloppy and hurts mens feelings a lot just for fun so they all went rUNNING from those match appointments! her parents literally are losing their minds they don’t know what to do w her theyre like god why did we give birth to the aNTICHRIST!?!?!?

not wanting anything to do with her parents, evie got into college and medical student on scholarship based on her own merit and skill. evie went to the seoul national university for 4 years then did a 2 year residency at the country’s top hospital, becoming one of the best on call heart surgeons there.

the korean media likes to clown on her A LOT! bc shes scary and angry and cares very little abt her appreance is A DOCTOR and not a princess really for the opposite reason they clown on dianna but evie does not really care she doesn’t care abt impressing people, just saving lives and proving people wrong. finger guns

but yes! thats what u missed on glee. evie was a heart surgeon in korea before being shipped off to thailand! shes v salty by the way ... even more than usual.

evie wears massive grandma glasses to see bc shes BLIND when shes in line with her sister people do not think she’s related and are like “OMG OMG THE PRINCESSES!!! BUY WHATEVER U WANT ON THE HOUSE I--oh? maam? uh? can we help u, ahjumma?” HELP

now that tumblr is finally letting back into sihyun's account of my laptop, i've come up with some plots and connections for him! he is somehwat of a difficult person to deal with, but i am sure we'll be able to work something out to get some good and deep relations rolling! :3 please comment or hmu if you are interested in one of these plots below!

PS: i might update the list at some point, when i think of more relations i would like to see unravel.

[.symbiosis - open! (1/2, f & m, 22+)] you wouldn't neccessarily call each other friends, but rather partners in crime. you are just as ambitious and competitive as sihyun and as long as you are useful to him and he is useful to you, you'll have each other's back.

[.tension - open! (0/1, f/m, 21+)] you can't handle him and he can't handle you and he openly shows that. it would be better if you two wouldn't get in one another's way because you are like cat and dog. but somehow you two still end up running each other until the tension is about to blow up.

(0/1, 22+)] before sihyun was sent to germany at age 7, he was a pretty normal kid who liked to play outside like every other child his age. you were his childhood friend for a while, until he was gone from one day to another. years later you learn the boy from back then had signed with the same company as you, but when you try to approach him and rekindle your lost friendship, he is a completely different person. will you fight for your old friend or leave him be?

[.admiration - open! (0/1, aspiring actor)] sometimes "bad boys" are the target of admiration to some people. you have come across with his cold side before, but after seeing him act completely different, you can't help admire him and his acting.

[.arrogance - open! (0/1)] who is that guy who acts like he owns the world? sihyun is sitting on a high horse, not caring about what others think about him, and it's something that highly irritates you. you decide to put him in his place (aka. you are now his self-proclaimed rival!).

[.recognition - open! (0/1, m, 21+)] you are probably the only guy around that had been recognized by sihyun because of his skill. even when he isn't calling you a friend, you are one of the few who got as close as possible without getting burnt. and who knows, maybe you'll even be able to teach him one or few things about trust?

[.manipulation - taken! (1/1, f, 20+)] sihyun is like a lion playing with its prey before finishing it off. you who is naive and gullible is the perfect victim to trigger his hunting instincts. he likes to take upon challenges of all kinds, changes his masks like others change their clothes and manipulating you to do what he wants will be a good pastime for him.

[.outlet - open! (0/1)] on the surface sihyun seems to be pretty cold, but deep within him there is a burning rage and pain due to his past. you receive his anger however he wants to unleash it.

[.dorm i - open! (0/2, m)] you live in the same dorm as difficult-to-deal-with sihyun. whether you want to get closer because you are roommates, or if you can't stand his attitude he displays living there, there is plenty of room for dorm dynamics!

[.brother - open! (0/1)] someone had told you a rumor about kwon sihyun and choi jongsuk being brothers and as a friend of jongsuk you are weirdly curious about how in the world someone as chilled as jongsuk could be family with someone like sihyun?

Nyello~ It’s ya girl Shizuka back at it again, apping characters on impulse and living to somewhat regret it! You may remember me being here before as Min Donghan, but if not, it’s nice to meet you~

Now, for my baby, Keiko. She’s one of my oldest OCs and I’ve RP’d her in previous incarnations of Koi, but never as an Ensemble Stars OC. (It was always a verse I had for her, but never utilized) As you’ll probably see when you look at her app, she has no background right now. Bare with me, I’m rewriting it from her original background, so it’s a work in progress. But here’s a very basic rundown:

She’s 18 yrs old and a graduate of Spica High School (Think girl’s equivalent to Yumenosaki)

She graduated at the same time as the Yumenosaki boys

She had a very brief solo career before enrolling in Spica and forming a unit

She’s the leader of her own unit; Harmony, a three-girl unit

She’s also the group’s lead vocalist

While Harmony wouldn’t be as popular as the more estabiled groups, they do have a dedicated and hardcore fanbase

Harmony’s music style is inspired by the japanese discography of Twice and Girls’ Generation, along with that of Kana Nishino (who is Keiko’s voice claim)

To comply with the group’s rules, she’s had no direct interaction with any of the Enstars boys. However she does know of them and is a big Knights fan herself.

Family-wise; her parents are divorced and she lives/ with her mother and little sister. She’s still in contact with her dad and they have a great relationship (At least until Koi called, ahaha)

She’s a very shy bean and tends not to make the first move unless absolutely necessary. But get her on stage and it’s like she’s a whole new person.

That, I think, just about covers the basics! But if you’ve any questions, hmu! In any case, let’s get started! Like this post for a random (non-event) starter, capping at 4. Castmates (I guess???) are exluded from the cap! And if you want to plot out anything more thorough, just hop into my IMs~

Hey! So, thanks for the rant re: Destiel/shipping culture. I found it clarified or forced me to clarify my own thinking on the matter. Going into the final season, is there anywhere you're specifically hoping they'll take the relationship? Happy to see it play out as it has been? I assume we'll get some closure on Cas taking the blame for Mary.... PS If you're ever going through Fargo (weird right but we are at the intersection of to interstates) hmu! We can whiskey about it. -B.

To answer in parts:

WRT visiting: Fargo is unfortunately out of the way on our initial trip, but once we start actually pulling income who knows what we can manage to pull out of our ass, our long term goal is a lot of travel, so I’ll keep that in mind. The furthest north in the central US we may go is Nebraska and even that is in question, we may just take the 70 out of Kansas City towards Denver across Kansas but maybe another time when we have more expendable income.

WRT the rant: I’m glad it helped. I think we get so consumed by extremization of talking points, birthed bitterness in result and the desperate need to Stick It To the Hets – which someone even mentioned as their motivation in the Note Discourse™ – or the antis or the rival shippers that literally don’t want to see the light of day that we lose sight of what we have. This desperate need to win arguments against people too lined in tin foil for Logic Waves to permeate like

WRT wants of the show: That’s really hard to say. Personally I hit general fulfillment on their relationship at 13.5/6 due to the direct Lisa mirroring and general overtness of that. Antis can try to convince DeanCas fandom it doesn’t mean shit but literally one look at TPTB’s mentions on that day is full of shrieking of “pandering” and “how dare you” with even phrases of “pandering with the romantic shot”. It’s there. They know it. They just hope nobody remembers how upset they were about seeing and acknowledging it to get in the heads and under the skin of people they want to deny it to. At that point, their romance reached its respective bookend.

(a reminder he didn’t shed a tear in the Lisa version acted out either, if anyone comments on that missing)

I mean how blunt has the show been about this? This (x) blunt (x).

So after this, everything is garnish for how loud or, frankly, performative it has to be for people to be content with it. I have no specific goalposts in regards to that, and am personally more fascinated with which angle the general perennial mytharc is lending us towards, although that in itself can have a lot of powerful mystic meaning to Dean and Cas depending on how they choose to execute it. (x)

And I know I know people want TPTB confirmation but like anyone remember this shit

Which is what I talked about with him getting eviscerated from all angles – antis and people yelling queerbait because it didn’t meet their performative quota – until he deleted it? Everybody tried it with Gomens too until they realized there were no idiot tinhat walls to bounce off of and it died in record time.

So yeah no shit they stopped talking about it. If the authors are gonna get gored about it any time they open their mouth, including by the people they’re trying to support, I’d fucking stop too.

So for me, I have no specific goalpost with Destiel and instead will be happy with whatever comes, though am fascinated with as much PR as is lifting up Dean and Cas as essentially an A plot in early season, elevating the drama to front view. I’m sure part of it is probably just having big early plot twists they can’t talk about – such as Jack coming back early – but ultimately the fact that their interpersonal drama is such a focus is exciting because of the inevitable resolution which I expect to be before midseason, I’m estimating around 15.06 but it could be a few episodes sooner or later. It’ll end before dealing with midseason drama as a united front and/or facing off with the ramifications of Castiel’s Empty deal.

In the end, I’m just hoping to see a non-fatalistic ending; or, in the case of a fatalistic ending where Castiel has his metaphorical burning on the ceiling with the empty, closing the trunk with a We Got Work To Do the same way the season starts with, and I almost feel like that reminder isn’t without its potential reasons, which lends into the evergreen ending of getting back the missing spouse and *jazz hands* found family never leaves anybody behind. Especially not your lovers. Which is what launched this entire shitshow. And so on let us fanfic into eternity through innumerable universes to recover him, whatever the cost, no matter how hard it gets.

I’d prefer *not* to have a fatalistic ending like that and have them go off together; I also hope for some Saileen/Destiel parallels continuing since we know Shoshanna is coming back, and they’ve already been paralleled before, without either of them needing to be explicit, which would only serve to underline what I mean about performative culture and demands versus the way the show modernly handles these things even in het pairings, and unto itself would be a fascinating statement.

Oh and getting Cas’ name on the table. It’s more found family than Destiel but to the shock and awe of fandom spouses are part of the family and any spouse that doesn’t loudly include you in part of that outside of how you fondle each other–run away from them. Run very far away.

whew fam i picked a bad time for a hiatus to come back to a bunch of changes! but i’m crazy excited about everything so hello again! its poppy back at you with juniper because how could i ever let this little babe go? i sure could not! she’s had some changes of course but nothing too drastic. some timeline adjustments and a much better biography (lol). on the whole she’s the same as she was, essentially. still struggling with feelings of inadequacy, fears of nepotism, and trying to prove herself while also doubting her own skills in an overarching manner. still acts out on instagram in the name of “authenticity” and is still a strange blend of rebellious and naive and sensitive and prickly. i don’t have a plot page yet (still...) but hopefully i will soon, and i’m also way more than happy to take up plots from anyone and everyone ok! just hmu and i’m down for it. ps stan ROTHY her new vc and a whole big cute talented babe ok thanks.

essentially is really old because he is immortal but his immortality has a catch. in the situation he dies, intentionally or not, he’ll be reborn in the ashes but loses memories from the previous life (except stuff like reading, talking, breathing just so it wont be overly complicated as it already is ;;). aka day of embers — happens every 30 years if he doesn’t die earlier. when he is reborn he doesnt turn to a baby in human form but a teenager just so no one has to take care of a baby phoenix who explodes.

because of this feng has sort of a magic guide book? made by a smart enough past fengyu to guide him? themselves??? if he isnt doing anything his reading this book.

other than his immortality, his other abilities include: pyromancy, enhanced strength, accelerated regeneration, flight, phoenix song, healing via tears and pyro-teleportation. in phoenix form, all his abilities and senses are heightened. ex: his tears can pretty much bring someone back to life in the brink of life whereas in his human form he’s only able to heal minor injuries. feng fact! he tries not to teleport as much especially around the shrine because he once caused a “wildfire” in which his co-guardian had to help fix.

he’s pretty adventurous because he feels as tho he needs to try everything due to the fact that he may never experience or remember any of it in the next life.

takes his guardian duties seriously! no littering!!! (but really pls do this would be a fun plot)

legit lights into flames when mad. dont test his patience (pls do)

his irises glow like there is fire in them. intensity varies in his state, emotions, power use, etc.

is pretty friendly and loyal to those who deserve it. actually feels really bad that he won’t be able to remember them in the next life so he started taking note of those special friends and has pages dedicated to them and everything about them.

loves to sing and is actually really good — usually heard singing in the shrine but really shy about it.

is stubborn and childish af so do wat u may with this info lmao

plots

someone he knew before but doesn’t remember??? could tell him or not ;u; someone who used to be really special but was pre-writing friends time. could be the one that prompted the whole i need to write about my friends.

what’s up y’all!! it’s carly back at it again with a second muse! this is christopher charles willis jnr but pretty sure he just goes by kit willis at the point. he’s quite different to oliver lmao but here go we. it will probably be just as rambled and terrible as my other intro. but feel free to hmu to plot and get this party rollin!

( tarjei sandvik moe + 21 + muse 14 ) isn’t that christopher 'kit' willis over there? i heard HE joined faction one after they got back to west ham. it’s funny, ‘cause they were only on the service trip because HE NEEDED A BREAK. hopefully they fit in there – they’re OPTIMISTIC, but also SELF DESTRUCTIVE. oh, i’m sure they’ll be fine. ( carly, she/her, 21, gmt )

alas, here is some typed up stuff about my sunshine child;

so the most important thing about kit is probably his personality. he’s your typical southern gentleman, full of optimism and smiles through anything. he hates the idea of anyone disliking him and wants to be on good terms with everyone, even if his sunny disposition can get on people’s nerves sometimes.

kit originally came from oklahoma. he was born there to christopher charles willis snr and katherine willis. however, he had never been what his father wanted him to be. sharing a name, he had a legacy to live up to. a legacy that wanted him to be typically masculine, participate in sports and date different girls every week. and kit, unfortunately for charles snr, was never like that and never would be. he had enjoyed dance since a young age and had only managed to convince his dad to let him go when his mother intervened and when he insisted that all his friends went. that debate carried on until he left oklahoma at age fifteen. (abuse mention tw) he’d come home from dance classes and getting something either thrown at him or getting hit just became an inevitability. his dad wasn’t exactly a nice man and detested the fact that kit wanted to dance or that he wanted to be something other than what he intended. being gay and a dancer was the absolute opposite charles snr wanted. but then a scout saw him at his studio in oklahoma and invited him to audition for the royal ballet school in london. how could his mother refuse him the opportunity? they packed up and left without more than a letter saying they had and went to london.

so kit was fifteen when he started at the royal ballet school. him and his mom lived together in london happily as he trained and she worked. his passion for dance was his life. pointe, despite being not typically male, was one of his favourite things to do. he was one of the dancers that was considered to be a rising star of the school, that one day he’d help break some of those gender boundaries with extra hard work and training. that was until he got to 19 and he was dropped in a ps de deux class.

wanting to be able to teach both sides of pas de deux, it was only normal that kit would rehearse both parts. it was when he was rehearsing with one of the male dancers that it all went wrong and his world turned upside down. (injury tw) he had landed awkwardly where he was dropped and his ankle had suffered the brunt of the fall. his ankle had been broken in two places and his knee had been dislocated with a hairline fracture. a mess, truly. so he’d been out, told he’d not dance for at least a long while and probably never again professionally. he was healing and london just didn’t seem to sit well for that. his mom could see how upset and depressed he was and insisted that they move. a relative had told her about a house out in westham and it looked perfect.

so off they went, kit aged 19 and still healing. they moved into a house in westham and he’s been there since, just him and his mom. (prescription drugs tw) he went through physio and physical rehab and it just seemed to be too many steps for him. what made the most difference was the painkillers. he could do things if he was feeling less. no pain from where his knee had been reset or his ankle healed again. he was used to injuries but this was different. he started dancing again but often pushes himself too far to try and get back to where he used to be. too much pain leads to too many pills and he’s on a slippery slope of stopping himself taking too many and feeling the urge to. but maybe this will be the tipping point for him, being alone?

I... I say I am only because like, man, I’ve been burned before? I’ve jumped into ships without roleplaying them out first and have been incredibly disappointed. You know how characters kind of form themselves as you write them? Well, that character formed in a way that just didn’t work properly with the other character, but the other person couldn’t see it and I ended up being so miserable with the ship that I just got rid of the character because I just couldn’t handle it tbh. (of course, this was on a forum rp and there was no multi-shipping or anything like that, you know? So like. The character was stuck and I’m too nice of a person to be like “hey these two don’t go together let’s not.” Especially because the other person really liked the ship. I felt so bad omg.)

However, with that long ass paragraph out of the way, I am addicted to shipping and I freaking love it and like COME AT ME WITH ALL THE SHIPS PLS.

uh. all the freaking time. I. Love. Shipping. I love it. So much. I am addicted to the feels. Give me angsty ships. Give me fluff. Give me everything! I am an addict.

I think obsessed is too light of a word. I love to ship. But our characters have to have some natural chemistry in our writing for it to happen, that’s all.

I mean. For this fandom, I don’t really have one yet. I’ve got a video of all my fave OTPS from other fandoms tho, lol. Hopefully, as time goes on, I’ll add some shippy great videos for Xia and others as well. :)

finally, how does one ship with you?:

Come to me. Say something. If you’re too anxious to be like “Hey, I uh, kinda ship our characters???” (which, tbf, same friend same) then come to me and be like “Hey, uh, what do you think of this scenario???” That’s usually how most of my ships happen. Putting them into a scenario that just kind of works with their chemistry and the characters sort of ship themselves. I’m fine with say like your character kissing mine or like confessing their love if you want to even try that. Because that doesn’t immediately indicate a ship, but it could very well be the start of something great. And if I like it and my character likes it, I’ll be coming to you like ‘DUDE SO LIKE WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS *insert horribly angsty plot here*” because it’s always angsty shit i’m horrible to my characters.
