aikatsu friends episode 67 spoilers (a rewatch)

I did watch it live but the either the stream sucked or my phone did (was too tired to move 1m away from my bed to get to my computer. yeah) and I missed like 20% of it, mostly in Wakaba’s performance...

I’m glad Wakaba got to wear the Star Harmony uniform, but why doesn’t she transfer there, I wonder? spending all this time training to be an idol can’t make it easy to go to normal school at the same time. (does she go to school?)

even going into this knowing that Wakaba sold out the tickets for her performance, it’s still surprising to hear it the second time. even if she’s known from passing Mirai’s audition and she has a single promo vid on the internet, it makes no sense

I only saw like one second of Wakaba’s performance before the stream cut out, and when it came back she’d already changed to the JLR. so I didn’t notice until the website was updated with the s3 coords that there was a bird on her head and red shoes, both of which are intensely cute details. I love Humming Leaf a lot

the papercraft look of this stage is neat. before her song started the very first thing I thought of was actually Emerald Magic, bc trees, but obviously the aesthetic of those trees is way different... the second thing was, like everyone else, Every Song With Akari. but it’s just because she has some similarities to Akari that we all were reminded of this, right? in terms of straight-up looking alike her stage is way more like Heart no Melody, which is literally the same thing but runway-shaped, than any Akari song. the song itself is pretty different too.

(and now I’m rewatching oldkatsu game MVs bc I remember some of them having similar fairytale visuals, and Little Beat Little Wing which I used to hate is apparently a song I’m totally ok with now? huh.)

30 or so completely unrelated oldkatsu MVs and one Kono uta tomareihi later, I’m back to watch Wakaba’s stage ;; this is... the first time I’ll have heard the full song... time to find out what everyone’s so angry about lmao

SCREAM I LOVE This whole stage... it’s not my fav song in aikatsu or anything but I like bossa nova, the lyrics are cute, the pop-up book stage transformation is cute, the JLR transformation is cute. the JLR itself is SUPER CUTE. I know it’s literally Maria’s Tyrolean Aries PR 2.0, but that’s my fav coord in All of Aikatsu, so I have no problem with that. overall there’s just a lot of elements of her performance that are to my exact taste.

I’m not super fond of Wakaba herself in Humming Leaf coords, though? I still don’t see why she has this whole natural/handmade aesthetic, they’ve given us absolutely no basis for it in the anime. literally the one time she did a craft on screen she fucked it up (in a way that turned out ok, but still). and her hair’s really dark and aside from the JLR, HL coords don’t have any dark colors to balance it out... I‘m really happy they made an idol with dark brown hair, though... maybe this is all bc I keep anticipating how good Milk is gonna look in HL coords. or maybe it’s bc tumblr user scolek opened my eyes to the fact that Wakaba’s true brand should be Retro Clover...

anyway rewatching her performance immediately after watching it I realized I forgot to say that her dance is super cute too (as tumblr user triplehamburgerjack said, it’s dance-y). ok I think I’ve covered everything

as far as Wakaba getting a JLR in her debut solo live...????? why??? the only reason I can think of is that there aren’t enough eps to do it later..... haha.....

Y'know what ... reposting my Mer!Heathcliff here for MerMay.

Going to put some of the lore things under a cut, since I love talking about my Mermaid AU so darn much.

- First of all, my Mer Heathcliff is based on the Irish Merrow! I did a ton of research, and I thought they fit best with his character and arc, what with male Merrow being scorned. This decision was also made because Merrow can assume human form, and that's key for the story I'm writing! - Following him being a Merrow, the glowing object in his hands is a human soul. According to folklore, Merrow collect human souls, and there's a story (although I believe it's been proven to not be a legend or folktale, but rather a made up story) about a male Merrow keeping human souls locked in lobster cages to keep him company. I took that concept and applied it to Heathcliff. - Though you can't see it, here, there's a line of scales that run along the length of his spine, and that's where his dorsal fins grow from. - All of his scars are from either defending his territory from other Mer or from sailors who throw harpoons at him when he gets too close to their ships--ever since he met Catherine when she was sailing on a vessel in the Great Lake, he has swam close to every ship he encounters, hoping she's finally returned to him like she promised she would many years ago. - His eyes work similarly to those of a cat. His pupils dilate and contract in response to light, and also glow faintly in the dark.

There's plenty more, of course, but those are some fun little things ~!

5. My two TGS Ishmael can badges. Putting them together because they're part of a set, so it just makes sense!!

I got the entire five piece set just for these ... and you know Canto V was special to me. I still use Blind Obsession all the dang time because it's just that good, and I love the art for it so much!!

4. Originally, I had my acrylic stands on this point, but then I remembered I have my Pequod!Heathcliff charm, and had to mention him somewhere ...

He's so cute. Cannot wait to get the last of the charms in this set ~

I have nearly cried because I thought I lost this charm. He's been with me for almost a year, now, and he's just very dear to me ... sure, I have a duplicate of him, now, but the original will always be so special to me. He was on my phone for ages before I moved him to my ita bag, and he still always makes me feel happy.

Goodness, I've left this in my inbox for several months--I apologize for making you wait so long for a response, Clara!!

As far as canon Limbus goes, the Sinners don't really get whole days off, but I like to believe that sometimes they make stops around the City for shopping (which has all but been confirmed to happen in Canto VI--love seeing my headcanons be canon) and the like! Sherry isn't big on leaving Mephistopheles, but usually someone will convince her to leave ... usually Don Quixote.

In such scenarios, Sherry will usually hang back with Ishmael, who I feel isn't big on shopping or sightseeing, either--she's here to do her job, not tour the City. This gives them plenty of time to catch up on what the other's been up to since they last saw each other!

I do think they browse a bit, though, and sometimes come across something interesting--little trinkets and accessories. Maybe Ishmael likes collecting ribbons for the little bows in her headband, and Sherry helps her with that. And Sherry could always use a new journal/pen, given how much she writes.

Also!! During downtime on the bus, Ishmael and Sherry help each other with their hair!! I actually like the idea that all the female Sinners (save a certain someone) get together and do each other's hair ... Ishmael braiding Sherry's hair and letting her try on different accessories is very cute to me (and Don Quixote and Rodya are there, too ... Ryōshū and Outis are also there, but more as critics /lh).

Oh, and at those little meetings, the girls love to tease Sherry about Heathcliff--sometimes they drag him in for his opinion on certain accessories, too, and he's confused, but also I can see him smirking because Sherry is visibly irritated about him being there as Rodya and Don Quixote put bows in her hair.

Cannot believe I spent two hours doing additional research to figure out if Heathcliff is named after heath or heather.

The answer? Technically, he's named after both.

The weather is keeping the nice Heathlock thoughts coming ... thought about College AU and how Sherry gets her augmentation procedure during the first summer break. Heathcliff would be stopping by constantly until he sees she's back from the hospital and is recovering (but he would also tackle her in a hug with a bit more force than she's probably ready for--) since he's worried about her.

But also him helping her get the hang of her newfound strength is so sweet? She comes back from her procedure with so much strength, she has to relearn how to pick up objects without shattering or crushing them in her grip, and she'd be scared to touch her friends and family because she doesn't want to hurt them. But Heathcliff would be patient and help her through that ... and you can bet the first person she'll hug when she has control over her power will be him.
