me trying to make a gif part 2 (thrilling finale, buildup ver.)
ok good news and bad news: good news being withheld for Spoilers (not that it’s that hard to guess anyway lol), bad news explained first bc, chronologically, it is first
so yesterday i mentioned in the tags of that post that i had seen that krita has an animation feature so i was gonna try importing the frames into that and then exporting it as a gif. easier said than done, as it turns out
i started by opening the file i made yesterday with 62 layers as the frames and importing that into krita, which worked fine (i didn’t know you could actually open .psd files in clip stuido ((this typo is so fucking stupid it made me laugh so im leaving it)) and krita, so that’s pretty neat, i wonder if it works the other way around too) but i ran into problems when i tried to convert those layers into frames in an animation. because, like, the layout of the program has the layers displayed in one tab, and the animation timeline in another, like so:
Tumblr media
(do u like how im using pictures now, i thought of that yesterday after i published the other post and realized hey, visual reference would probably make my plight a lot easier to understand!! so enjoy these educational diagrams from now on)
so my goal was to get the frames from the layers into the timeline, and i still don’t know if i did it right bc lbr krita is not very intuitive at all,,.,, i mean i watched a video tutorial abt how to animate in krita which was v helpful (it’s the one by jesse j james on yt fuckin SHout out) but it was about animating from scratch, not importing an animation you’ve already done elsewhere
so like, the way krita’s animation thing works, from what i could piece together as i bumbled my way around w/ it, is that each layer in the layers tab is a separate timeline in the,,, timeline tab
Tumblr media
i want them all to be in the same timeline, not separate ones, and there’s no way to combine them in the timeline tab bc doing that just overwrites whatever layer you’re pasting it down onto, and also if you define the number of frames for that timeline (62 for this project) it just puts the single image of that layer for all of the frames instead of just one of them, so you’d have to go through and delete all the other frames you don’t want it to be, which would be such a fuckin pain
so i found a workaround, which is so tedious that it can’t be the right way to do it, but basically i started w/ layer 1 and defined 62 frames & then emptied frames 2-62, like this
Tumblr media
(that blue box is the frame, btw, even tho it says 0, which actually kind of annoys me like why doesn’t it start the first frame on 1????)
from there i went up to layer two and selected that in the timeline, but for some reason the frame doesn’t show up automatically?
Tumblr media
& i couldnt fuckin figure out how to make it into like, an Official Timeline Layer or whatever tf bc like, u see on layer 1 how theres that little lightbulb-looking icon on the right? that’s for turning on onion skin which only applies when you actually have frames with things drawn on them, so basically layer 2 in the layers tab has a drawing but in the timeline it doesn’t?
i didn’t find out what the actual reason for this is or how you’re /supposed/ to make the frame appear in the timeline, but what i did was right click on layer 2′s timeline & select “create blank frame” which magically made the frame i want appear
Tumblr media
but it’s on top of the layer 1 frame, and i want it to be the frame after. also it’s still in a different timeline. this is the only easy fix in this whole damn process, u can literally just click & drag the frame from layer 2 to layer 1 and put it wherever u want on the timeline
Tumblr media
and then u just delete layer 2 and that’s it, frame transferred!! then i just had to do that for 60 more layers and after [unspecified amount of time but it was a fuckin while ok] my timeline looked like this!
Tumblr media
(the gaps near the end are held frames, to save me time so i didn’t have to copy a bunch of frames that were exactly the same)
krita is great because as far as i know ur animation can have an unlimited number of frames, at the risk of your own pc’s processing power, which is a definite upside to SOME expensive art programs i know (clip studio, i’m talking abt csp) and u can pick the frame rate too (cough photoshop elements 5.0 even tho u dont technically have an animation feature & it’s a miracle u can even make gifs at all) so once i finally got all the frames situated all nice and in order like on the same timeline, playing it was great! played at the right speed, looped perfectly, it was a dream come true right
well, time to export it as a gif
ha
haha
hoooo oo  o
so u got 2 options for exporting ur animation, u can either hit “export,” which lets u save it as different file types, one of which being gif, or you can hit “render,” which gives you gif and video options
Tumblr media
well
i tried export first, bc that seemed like a good idea, but the “””gif””” it made was distinctly not a gif, despite its claim to be one?? this is what i got:
Tumblr media
notice: 1. it is not moving, and 2. the black bars to the sides?? those are supposed to be transparent. they’re transparent in the file i made so why didn’t they register as transparent in the export, when gifs have transparency capabilities??
Tumblr media
so That was some real live bullshit but i still had the “render” option, right? export was wrong, so rrender must be the correct option to go to that will produce the results i am wanting to see produced in front of me like a silver dinner platter with a correctly functioning gif under the lid, that’s what i want to see and “Render Animation...” is gonna Give me that silver platter righWRONG ok look at this shit rn ok Look
Tumblr media
it says GIF it says it RIGHT THERE right??? right?????? then WHY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
?????????????
and it also gave me all This bullshit
Tumblr media
like did i ask?? did i fucking ask???? i already have all the individual frames why do i need even M o re i mfjgjgk
((rationally ok yea thats v useful for if ur making the animation in krita and want to export the frames to use elsewhere, but like uhhh 1. again, they’re not transparent & 2. i should have the option of saying i don’t want these??? bc *meme voice* i don’t want these)
so in the end i could find NO correct method of exporting animations as a gif in krita bc every ooption that says gif is fuckign LYING to ur face there are NO gifs in krita, aliens made the progam who looked at gifs and went “hmm i thikng this is how a gif works “ and just made jpegs instead but somehow got on the computers good side and got it to lie for them about it being a gif so thats why it says gif on the file still even tho its not a gif illimati confinr
so what is the conclusion to this? well i said there was good news too, and this is the portion where i divulge that sweet nectar (i type dthis 2 seconds ago and @ me what the fuck)
so after wasting a good 2 hours trying to figure out krita i gave up and watched some good old [youtuber name redacted bc what if it shows up in search & ppl see this dumbass post in there but it rhymes with fjackfsepticfeye] to relax into accepting my fate that i’ll never be able to upload my animations to tungle except in poor quality loopless video form, making me into a laughing stock on my own art blog, but THEN i had a stroke of genius, in my Brain
so if u read yesterday’s post u might remember that flipnote studio, the animation program i use on my ds, to animate, has the option to export files as gifs, both animated and sequential (meaning either as one fully animated gif or each individual frame separately), which is super convenient, but as i mentioned yesterday, any time i tried to open the folder with those files on my laptop, it crashed immediately
WELL today i thought “hey, how about instead of opening the folder in the sd card when it’s plugged in, how about i copy that folder from the sd card to my flash drive, and try to open it there, in case it’s the card’s hardware that’s causing the problem, not corrupted files”
so i tried that and it FUCKING WORKED THANK GOD GLORY HALLELUJAH
so now instead of spedning A THOUSAND YEARS trying and failing to force art programs to bend to my will i can just export the animations straight from my ds and drag them onto my computer Just As God Intended oh GOD im so fucking happy
here’s the gif in the end, i’m gonna post it to my art blog too but this is the Green Version bc i animate in green bc of some default settings in flipnote that i got used to, plus it makes me feel like i’m just sketching so nothing really has to be finalized so i’m comfortable while i work, and also it’s just nice ok it’s a Nice Green
Tumblr media
(there’s a few frames at the end that are like the extra scraps from while i was working dw i got rid of those in the final version that i’m posting to my art blog later. also i added my blog url to that one too it’s aaaaaall good)
the only downside to this method is that i can’t change the canvas size to be 540px wide to fit with tumbrl s image dimensions but whatever i can just post them in a text post and fix the html to display it at its original size instead of the resizing bullshit tmurbl pulls constantly ugh. anyway it works great on desktop but it’s inevitably gonna look like shit on mobile no matter what i do *Big Ass Shrug*
anyway thats the end of my success story uhh i can’t make the like comment & subscribe joke again bc i already did that in the last post so like bye i guess thanks 4 watchign & have a great day i’ll see u in my next fvideo

Version 451

I had a great week cleaning code and fixing bugs. If you have a big database, it will take a minute to update this week.
all misc this week, most bug fixes
I fixed a critical bug in tag siblings. It was causing some tag siblings to be forgotten, particularly on local tag services, and particularly when a tag had a sibling removed and added (e.g. 'delete A->B, then add A->C') in the same transaction. I will keep working here and will trigger a new sibling reprocess in the future just as 450 did so we can fix more PTR issues.
The new content-based processing tracking had a couple more issues. Some Linux users, in particular, it just broke for, due to a SQLite version issue. I have fixed that, and I have fixed some issues it caused for IPFS. There are new unit tests to make sure this won't happen again.
I fixed an issue with sessions recently not saving thumbnail order correctly!
I fixed issues with some of the new Client API file search parameters not working right!
Big video files should import a bit faster, and will show more status updates as they do their work.
We have had more anti-virus problems in recent weeks. We'd hoped building on github would eliminate them, but it hasn't completely. A user helped me trace one issue to the Windows installer. We have 'corrected' it (believe it or not, it was removing the 'open help' checkbox on the final page of the install wizard, and yes the reasons for why this was causing problems are ridiculous), so with luck there will be fewer problems. Thank you for the reports, and let me know if you have more trouble!
full list
stupid anti-virus thing:
we have had several more anti-virus false positives just recently. we discovered that at least one testbed used by these companies was testing the 'open html help' checkbox in the installer, which then launched Edge on the testbed, and then launched the Windows Update process for Edge and Skype, which was somehow interacting with UAC and thus considered suspicious activity owned by the hydrus installer process, lmao. thereafter, it seems the installer exe's DNS requests were somehow being cross-connected with the client.exe scan as that was identified as connected with the installer. taking that checkbox out as a test produced a much cleaner scan. there is a limit to how much of this nonsense I will accomodate, but this week we are trying a release without that 'open help' link in the installer, let's see how it goes
semi-related, I brushed up the install path message in the installer and clarified help->help will open the help in the first-start welcome popup message
.
misc:
I fixed a critical bug in tag sibling storage when a 'bad' tag's mapping is removed (e.g. 'delete A->B') and added ('add A->C') in the same transaction, and in a heap of fun other situations besides, that mostly resulted in the newly added sibling being forgotten. the bug was worse when this was on a local tag service via the manage siblings dialog. this problem is likely the cause of some of our weird sibling issues on clients that processed certain repository updates extremely quickly. I will keep investigating here for more issues and trigger another sibling reset for everyone in the future
the 'show some random pairs' button on the duplicates page is nicer--the 'did not find any pairs' notification is a popup rather than an annoying error dialog, and when there is nothing found, it also clears the page of thumbs. it also tries to guess if you are at the end of the current search, and if so, it will not do an auto re-fetch and will clear the page without producing the popup message
fixed a bug that meant file order was not being saved correctly in sessions! sorry for the trouble!
import of videos is now a little faster as the ffmpeg call to check resolution and duration is now retained to check for presence of an audio channel
when files are imported, the status messages are now much more granular. large and CPU-heavy files should move noticeably from hash generation to filetype calculation to metadata to actual file copying
fixed a database query bug in the new processing progress tracking code that was affecting some (perhaps older) versions of sqlite
when you trash/untrash/etc... a file in the media viewer, the top hover text now updates to show the file location change
fixed a typo bug in the new content type tracking that broke ipfs pinning yet again, sorry for the trouble! (issue #955)
I fleshed out my database pending and num_pending tests significantly. now all uploadable content types are tested, so ipfs should not break at the _db_ level again
the page tab menu now clumps the 'close x pages' into a dynamic submenu when there are several options and excludes duplicates (e.g. 'close others' and 'close to the left' when you right-click the rightmost page)
the page tab menu also puts the 'move' actions under a submenu
the page tab menu now has 'select' submenu for navigating home/left/right/end like the shortcuts
fixed some repository content type checking problems: showing petition pages when the user has moderation privileges on a repository, permission check when fetching number of petitions, and permissions check when uploading files
fixed a typo in the 'running in wine' html that made the whole document big and bold
across the program, a 'year' for most date calculations like 'system:time imported: more than a year ago' is now 365 days (up from 12 x 30-day months). these will likely be calendar calculated correctly in future, but for now we'll just stick with simple but just a bit more accurate
fixed a bug in mpv loop-seek when the system lags for a moment just when the user closes the media viewer and the video loops back to start
.
client api:
expanded my testing system to handle more 'read' database parameter testing, and added some unit tests for the new client api file search code
fixed the 'file_sort_asc' in the new client api file search call. it was a stupid untested typo, thank you for the reports (issue #959)
fixed 'file_service_name' and 'tag_service_name' when they are GET parameters in the client api
I fleshed out the file search sort help to say what ascending/descending means for each file sort type
.
boring database cleanup:
to cut down on redundant spam, the new query planner profile mode only plans each unique query text once per run of the mode
also fixed an issue in the query planner with multiple-row queries with an empty list argument
refactored the tag sibling and parent database storage and lookup code out to separate db modules
untangled and optimised a couple of sibling/parent lookup chain regeneration calls
moved more sibling and parent responsibility to the new modules, clearing some inline hardcoding out of the main class
cleaned up a bunch of sibling, parent, and display code generally, and improved communication between these modules, particularly in regards to update interactions and display sync
the similar files data tables are migrated to more appropriate locations. previously, they were all in client.caches.db, now the phash definition and file mapping tables are in master, and the similar files search record is now in main
next week
I've managed to catch up on some critical issues, and some IRL stuff also eased up, so I have some breathing room. I want to put some more time into multiple local file services, which has been delayed, likely some way to search over previously deleted files.

(English) After the Rain interview from Utattemita no Hon Magazine (May 2017 edition)
Buy the magazine overseas here (Includes large poster of the Soramafu cover art, as well as lots of other utaite pics and posters!) After the Rain was interviewed in the utaite magazine “Utattemita no Hon” for their May 2017 edition, which was published at the start of April. They discussed each track on their 2 new single CDs, the process that went into making them, and they also answered some random April-themed questions at the end :P Italicized questions here are what the interviewer was asking them to respond to. Enjoy, and let me know if you spot any typos or anything weird~!
Releasing two singles together at the same time is quite a special event. How did you feel when you first planned this?
Soraru: We never thought that we would receive offers to perform the OP and ED for two anime series in the same season, so it was truly an honor. It made me want to be sure that the songs were as good as we possibly could make them. Mafumafu: I associated “singles” with having very few songs included on the CDs, so I caused a fuss and said that I wanted each CD to come with 4 songs. Do you have any memories or topics you’d like to discuss from the creation process? Mafumafu: We immediately failed our “Have a Reasonable Schedule in 2017” plan. Soraru: I was constantly struggling with my bronchitis. It took me much longer than usual to record my vocals, and I really caused Mafumafu a lot of trouble with that… But I believe I did my best, as much as I was able to. Please tell us about your goals and hopes for “After the Rain” in 2017.
Mafumafu: Even if we do large events or sell out concert venues, I hope to spend each day studying things diligently. I want to devote myself to being able to make great music without slacking off or becoming too proud. Soraru: First, I want to be absolutely sure not to neglect my physical health. Other than that, I want to focus and learn how to create even better music. Just like how I played guitar in the filming for our recent music videos, I want to challenge myself to do things that I’ve never done before. -Single #1: Kaidoku Funou- (T/N: Titles in parentheses are my rough English translations of the names. They’re not the official titles, just the meanings.) Kaidoku Funou (Indecipherable) Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu
Soraru: This is the OP song for the anime “Atom: The Beginning.” This is our first theme song as AtR where we handled the sounds and everything entirely by ourselves, and we struggled greatly with parts, but worked really hard on them. I strongly felt that I wanted to make it sound good, since Mafumafu wrote us a really great song, but the more I listened to it, the more I became unsure of what to do. I ended up making major changes to it right before the deadline. I believe that I was able to make it sound satisfactory for all the time I put into it. The version used in the anime has a different mix and mastering than the CD versions, so I hope you are able to hear both of them. Makeinu Drive (Loser Drive) Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Soraru: As far as the sound goes, this is the simplest song out of all 8 of them, and I think it would really excite the crowd if we performed it at a concert. I want everyone in the audience to yell the “woof woof!” part. It was an easier song to mix because it didn’t have a lot of tracks, but Mafumafu has a ton of vocal tracks (harmonies, etc.), so the chorus and harmonies and such during the interludes were really difficult to deal with. I considered its role on the single and tried to make it the kind of song that you can listen to easily and smoothly. Keikoku (Courtesan) Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Mafumafu: I wrote about a person who seems radiant at first glance, but in reality they are trapped somewhere that they don’t want to be, and I compared that to a silkworm moth. Silkworm moths look very lovely, but they can’t fly despite having wings, they don’t even have mouths to intake food or drink, and they die after only a few short days. My songs rarely ever contain any sensual content, so while writing these lyrics, I felt a bit excited, like I was doing something I shouldn’t be (laughs). The expression “rain that has never known the sky” is used as a metaphor for tears, and I particularly liked that phrase so I put it at the very end. As for the sound side of things, in order for the low tones that make up Soraru’s voice to come alive, I arranged the song so that each instrument’s rhythm was even more prominent than the musical pitches themselves. I wonder if it would energize the crowd at a concert (I’m sorry the chorus is so high).
Wasurerarenbo (Forgotten Love) Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Mafumafu: One day, I happened to come across the words of someone who had drifted away from me, and from that I created this song. The more recognition you get, the more people come to know you as a result, but you also are forgotten by others more as well. That’s what this song is about. I don’t say that in a negative way at all, but rather, I wrote it to say thank you for letting me stay in your life even for just a little bit, and thank you for accepting this purely self-satisfying music of mine. I was very nervous about writing a one-sided song towards my listeners, since ever since I first started this line of work, I’ve always just covered my ears, put up walls around me, and only did the things that I alone wanted to do. I’ve uploaded a video for this song online, and the fact that it was accepted by everyone is just more evidence of how blessed I am. -Single #2: Anti-Clockwise-
Anti-Clockwise Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Mafumafu: I wrote this song as the ED for the anime “Clockwork Planet.” “Anti-Clockwise” means “counter-clockwise.” The lyrics are about the things in life that we’re unable to change as humans, and the ever-present beings who try to stand in our way. I tried to convey a sense of things coming to their end as I wrote it. The section referring to the “partially-destroyed piano” among other things is supposed to express how as innocent children, we found our own ways to enjoy broken toys, and even if that was the wrong way to play with them, we would get completely absorbed in them anyway. The lyrics are hard to understand, but I think I was able to condense the message pretty significantly with how I put it in the song. As for the music, I wanted to make it sound both robotic as well as convey a sense of mechanical insanity. Even right from the beginning it sounds pretty strange, with the intro piano part adopting the essence of an atonal “twelve-tone technique,” and while the other instruments are playing in a key, the piano partially loses its key as it’s mixed in. I really nit-picked with this song’s arrangement. Saiteki na Hito no Ayamekata (The Best Way to Kill Someone) Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu
Soraru: This song is about a girl who falls under what you’d call the “mentally ill” or “yandere” type. She wants to fill the empty space in her heart, so she actually goes and… it’s like that. I wanted to bring out the ominous feeling in this song, so I sang it while thinking in particular about the degree of volume in the chorus. This was the last song we finished, so I think we were able to produce its sounds pretty smoothly. Datsuraku Jinsei E Youkoso (Welcome to Dropout Life) Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Mafumafu: I wrote this song to share jokes, self-deprecation, and black humor directed towards those of us who post videos online! It sounds like a really dumb song, and the lyrics and music itself really are just dumb. I wouldn’t say that it’s disavowing who we are as people, but rather, it’s a positive song about the various people who live in this strange, fun world, as well as an invitation for you to come join us in this world too. It might seem like these lyrics were written with just the “right brain and muscles,” but there’s phrases like “tachimachi tachimashita” and “ori ga oniai no you” included that I think are fun usages of words!
Suisei Ressha no Bell ga Naru (The Bell Rings on the Comet Express) Vocals/Engineering: Soraru | Vocals/Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Mafumafu Soraru: This was the first ATR song where we ever recorded live drums or requested certain performances for each part. It was a real struggle to figure out how to work with those sounds. Maybe in a certain way, you could say it was the most difficult of all the songs… We re-recorded parts of the vocals and changed the mix for the CD as well, but the more we performed it at our concerts, the more the “image” of the song became solidified, so now it sounds quite different if you compare it to the original video that we uploaded. I think we improved it quite a bit.
April marks the start of a new school year. How did you two make friends when you entered a new class? Mafumafu: I wonder how I could have done that. Soraru: Mafumafu’s answer is way too sad. You don’t want to waste your youth while you still have it, so first you need to use your courage. It’s best not to wait with things like this. What do you like to eat while looking at cherry blossoms? Soraru: Meat. Mafumafu: Sweet dumplings and sakuramochi. April 26th is “Bath Day.” Please tell us the process of how you bathe. Soraru: I start with the left arm and then rotate around, washing myself as I go. Mafumafu: I enter a healing capsule and my entire body is washed automatically. I like open air baths and cypress wood bathtubs.

The New World of Book Publishing
Tumblr media
Up front - I believe that the way of the government ebook publishers, fictional agents, editors and brick and mortar book stores are maneuvering the way of the dinosaur. Here's why: First, there is a perilous factor involved with paying an author to publish a publication. The cost could be astronomical to have the manuscript read, then modified, then pawed over by publishers and their bean desks. Then, the edited manuscript has to go to print. Coloring illustrations can't really be a part of the book because they price tag far too much money to process. So , publishers decide on authors who are already published. Does this make sense? If an article writer of a best-seller is unknown, how can his or her best-seller look at the light of day? If that "best-seller" does help it become into the premier placement at the front of the brick and mortar book retail store, it may have a shelf life of only two or three weeks ahead of it is tossed into the back of the store, and ultimately it might end up on the discount table at Joes' Buck-a Reserve Emporium. Then, there's the issue of returns. Publishers currently have agreements with book sellers whereby they get their money-back for "loser books" that were placed incorrectly in stores, or possibly didn't sell briskly enough. It may take three years before your book title and subsequent content - beyond those of the 40-page Submission Package, is reaches the local. I need only to remind you that Borders - the phone number two book store chain, has contemplated bankruptcy. These reasons are partly to blame for the demise of many bookstores to date - including the thousands of "mom 'n pop' is an acronym that used to dot America or any other city of village across this planet. Therefore , my conclusion is that the way forward for book sales will be in the online e-book format. How the very best work is that authors (rookies or published) will create their very own book. They will initiate and control the title of the reserve. They will design their own covers. They will edit their courses using any number of excellent spelling and grammar software programs available nowadays. They will format the book (usually in safe-mode, closed. pdf format), and they will upload the book(s) into a book store. The book store could be their own instructions complete with their very own system of collecting money from credit cards (or using existing PayPal technology). Their books can also be submitted to Google Books, or Amazon, or to any number of internet book stores that will be coming to the Internet - especially seeing that the number two chain has sent the signal in which brick and mortars are on the way to extinction. With the coming of the Internet, and "Kindle" or "nook", or Apple's I-pod, or any laptop computer, any book can now be read.... without ever currently being printed. The publishers of tomorrow will make out a lot better because: Authors will prove themselves by the number of training books they sell. If a book takes off into the stratosphere caused by any number of things that can propel it, the new publisher about tomorrow can be there to generate the contract for that e-book. At that point, the publisher knows that this book can make a ton of cash. This is what was missing before. There was often a risk. Now, with the advent of the online e-book, together with tracking capabilities for sales, there is minimal risk. A author - rookie or not, can become famous by coming out on YouTube and garnering millions of hits. An author is able to do what Justin Beeber did.... hit the YouTube outlet, go "viral", and have millions of hits. Today, Justin Beeber is doing quite well for a "kid".... novice... newbie. Authors could become famous by appearing on TV reality shows, or about the Orpah Winfrey show if they attract a certain audience. Experts can, for example , hit the lottery. One such lottery victorious one hit the lottery over five times... so he chosen to write a book about how he won so many times. The ebook sells globally! The old-fashioned way of clawing your way towards top just by marketing techniques - using Facebook, Bebo, YouTube, Ezine, or Faithwriter's. com - and a number of other article writing sites can get an author found. Faithwriter's. com was the vehicle that Shellye Horowitz "lucked out" on. Here's the blurb form the Faithwriters. com website concerning Ms. Horowitz: - "One associated with my articles posted on your site "Calming the Storms regarding My Heart" has been accepted for publication in the The lord's Way Series - a writing opportunity that I come across through your site.... I am so very thankful. " aid Shellye Horowitz The rookie authors are basically automatically, but the playing field for all is level at this point. Any individual can write a book and take it all the way to the online arrange store - in less than a week after it is written. Gowns about two years, nine months and 24 days a lot quicker than going the publisher/literary agent/editor route! Other reasons precisely why online e-books will dominate the publishing world of another day includes these very valuable attributes: 1 . The online e-book can be edited on the fly. This makes the e-book technically better than the printed version where typos or other errors are found... to late to correct them. It also makes the e book current because the author can edit his or her book when. I have edited my books ongoing, and have even altered the front cover a couple of times. All it took was to edit as well as upload it again. 2 . Color Illustrations can be used. You cannot find any extra cost associated with adding all the color illustrations how the author wishes to incorporate into his book. I have extra color illustrations to every book that I have made into a home-based e-book. My paperback on Amazon is 157 internet pages, sells for $14. 95, and has no color drawings. The newer version - the e-book, has 257 pages and all kinds of color illustrations... no extra cost you to this author, nor to the nonexistent printer... and the public receives a better quality book - and that brings me to your best reason why online e-books will rule. 3. Charge The cost of an online e-book is far less than a paperback or even hardcover book would cost in a brick 'n mortar store because it costs nothing to take the book from strategy to the online book store shelf! My e-books are generally priced at just $9. 95. If my Diary of any Dieter book was a paperback, it would garner $14. 89, and $22. 00 if it was in hardcover. For $9. 95, the reader gets a tremendous deal because they get the similar book- that they can download to their laptop or other "reader device", and they get the added benefit of full color illustrations! How does this be beaten by a brick and mortar book store? some. Profits The profit from my e-books on Amazon is usually $0. 73. Yep - seventy-three pennies! Oh sure, that sells for $14. 95, and people are still buying the idea for that amount. From that, Amazon sends a gross pay attention to $6. 73. Out of that, I have to deduct the $4. 00 it cost to have the book printed, and finally instant I have to deduct the $2. 00 that it cost us to ship it to Amazon in Kentucky or perhaps wherever else they direct me to mail the item. Net $0. 73. By the same token, it cost me not print an online e-book, nothing to ship it, nothing to obtain it to a reader's e-mail in-box, so of the $9. 95 that PayPal collects for me, I net $9. /36 after they take their $0. 59 to do typically the transaction, collect the money from the buyer's credit card, process them, and deposit my $9. 36 directly into my banking accounts set aside for that purpose. How many editors did I need? Actually zero. How many publishers? Zero. How much did I have to pay a good bookstore to showcase my book? Zero. Publishers, publishers and literary agents will have to adapt to this new way of promoting books. Publisher should, in my opinion, lose their cavalier perspective about rejecting authors. I understand that the primary reason that they reject authors out-of-hand is solely financial. They can't take those monetary risk. Now, they will have access to all book web sites... like Google Books, or Amazon (and maybe Boundaries if they are allowed to continue their online book marketing), and also determine - from sales recorded there, which experts they may wish to sign a contract with for the book rights. Since publishers and literary agents will have access to the online guide store's management (no doubt), and can generate far more probable book sales than the author, deals will be struck. At this point - about the way authors now have to go from publication store to book store to promote their books. Let's take a talk about how that might shake out in the world of book income of the future. Rather than going from book store to reserve store (which costs money and time), the author may very well be featured in a video setting on the primary book seller's sites - like Amazon, etc . Next to the e-book title, there could be a small TV screen icon. Readers would enjoy be able to see what their author looks like, and the journalist can have almost a personal "chat" with his reader at that levels. I do it now on my own personal book store internet site. Other benefits of marketing can be that just the book basically the only thing that could be sold. Autographed pictures, or autographed ebook covers could be sold. Tee-shirts could be sold. Contests may just be arranged to where the author of a best-seller (online e-book) can meet with several of the contest winners who ordered her book -at a backstage event or evening meal - or awards show. Not only would the media hype of an awards show for authors be prudent tutorial and profitable, but more books would be sold as the offshoot of that hyped event. I liken that scenario to your new movie coming out on re-release on video. I really believe that my concept of tomorrow's book stores and situations will become reality in the very near future. With technology right now, the Internet is fast becoming tomorrow's everything. It's a "giant brain" containing information on how to do anything. It's a shopping center where I now get most of my stuff - from flash drives intended for my computer (ranging from $3. 95 5o $117. 00 for the same thing), to laptops shipped to this home... to books. In fact , in my opinion, computers will bring about another problem-solver, and that will be online food shopping. The regional Stop and Shop supermarket might end up having a storage facility somewhere that services five towns. From there, they could own virtual shelves where all the food is stored... much like it may be where I shop. I can load my virtual foodstuff list into my virtual wagon and have it shipped to me brick and mortar house the same day or next -- and probably save money. The down side is that employees can be needed for the online store, but not for the brick and mortar stores a whole lot. This is why America should be competing for these types of services. Naturally , jobs could be had my the hundreds of thousands if our flesh pressers would finally get on the American public's side and acquire going on producing natural gas, drilling for oil safely, executive clean coal technology, having automobiles that run on propane. We could become energy self-sufficient. That alone would travel the price of fossil fuels down again. Schools, colleges - deal schools could all hire teachers to teach - on line. Same jobs - different venue. Teachers would certainly always be safer. Kids would not have to worry about guns or drugs with virtual schools. It's all coming anyway, only many of us ought to be the first to recognize it.... and capitalize on it.
