In my defense I started calling him just Matt, but Prince Matt Daemon just hits differently.

I think I first heard it from either @alinahams or @xenonwitch and it's so much funnier!

No hate to Matt Damon though, great actor! And since I think we have a severe lack of good media and entertainment these days I would like to recommend his movie (well its not his but he's in it) -> The Last Duel.

An amazing piece of cinema with some great acting by some of the BEST actors out there: Matt Daemon (of course XD), Jodie Comer - maybe THE female actor of her generation - and the absolutely incredible Adam Driver - again maybe THE male actor of his generation; some GREAT writing that understands nuance, a compelling story, and a great look into the life of a medieval woman and her struggles without turning her into a walking meme or a victim.

All the Harwin and Laena fans are ridiculous. How they ended up as stans of characters who was even barely written about is beyond me. They definitely just think that the actors portraying them in the show is hot and uses Rhaenyra as a self-insert for Harwin and Laena for Daemon. Honestly, they give this two way too much more importance than they actually were in the first place. The only relevance Harwin and Laena have is that they had children with Daemyra.

Let's try not to call anyone ridiculous for liking characters XD we can say they have bad taste but ridiculous no come on. We might not agree but to each their own and they have a right to like whatever character they want even if it is someone like Tywin's horse.

I agree that I also don't understand, especially Laena just because since 2019 the hype about her is absolutely blown out of proportion. If you read any meta about her you would be under the impression she's as developed as character as someone like Daemon or Rhaenyra, or even as her own parents. I have talked at lengths about why people like her but to sum it up it's a mixture of: no personality so perfect self-insert + seen as "less Targaryen" and thus more "pure and righteous" + who her parents are. Don't be mistaken though, show did nothing or almost nothing for Laena. If anything she is less popular now.

Harwin is another matter and he is 100% because of the show. Before I would count on the fingers of one hand anyone who gave half a f_ck about him. People would literally not acknowledge his existence. However, I have talked about this at length and the very vocal crowd that produced content, especially metas and fics, were very anti Targaryens - though they will act otherwise at times - or "neutrals". And this crowd not only loved Laena but also thought Criston was the version we were presented with in Feast (that is not the same as in The World of Ice and Fire/The Rogue Prince/The Princess and the Queen/Fire and Blood -> but you know whatever) and would LOVE to defend him, talk about "his side" of the story, and produce tons of content about him and Rhaenyra. I could say I was baffled, but that would be a lie because the same was done about Jorah and Dany 🤷🏽‍♀️ And again Rhaenyra and Daemon were never the Targaryens it was ok to like, unless it was because of how "dark they were", especially Rhaenyra who is a woman, so automatically darker you know.

Because of the above, however, I don't know... I don't mind Harwin fans that much. Maybe I was just not pestered by them as I was by Laena fans since 2018 where every time someone would post Daemyra content here they came with the:

"BuT yOu KnOW DAemON DidN'T LoVE RhaeNYRA RIGHT?! His TruE LoVe WaS LaeNA!"

The people I counted on my fingers who liked Harwin always acknowledged canon and the fact that at the end of the day it was Daemon Rhaenyra truly loved/was her endgame 🤷🏽‍♀️ I am aware that has changed because of redacted but my good people *big sigh* Prince Matt Daemon and Renada are NOT Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen. So if people hate Harlose Weak and want to pair him with the most unlikable character ever who goes by the name of Princess Renada Tedesco... sure go ahead.

Do I understand why anyone likes Harlose Weak? No. Do I understand how anyone can watch the show and not absolutely hate Rita and Carlos for wanting to pimp out their 12 year old child to a man who slaughtered his wife like a pig? Absolutely not. Do I understand why anyone mistakes show and books and insists on merging the two together? Also absolutely not. It takes some pathological levels of cognitive dissonance for that. Do the books make it painfully obvious Daemon was the man Rhaenyra always loved and wanted above all others? Also yes. Can people believe otherwise? Sure, free country.

One of the funniest theories I've seen last year was that viserys ii was actually one of aegon ii's bastards passing off as daemon and rhaenyra's son, meaning that their real son died and daenerys actually comes from the greens' bloodline and not from daemon and rhaenyra. It's not like viserys had 3 siblings who would be able to recognize him or anything lmao

I had actually forgotten about this though @xenonwitch had told me about it a while ago. But WOW. Just... just WOW.

I feel that I want to mock this but this might be a serious disability so I will just stick to silence.

Then again, being a redacted fan means you have to switch off your brain... like if you think that show makes sense we might as long propose ridiculous things like this one and call it a day.

However *deep sigh* I am sorry to inform you all redacted and green fans that I get y'all, I too am disgusted that anything that came out of Matt or Renada will get to live, and I do agree both of them are jokes and I want them gone. Still, this is about the books and actual Daemon and Rhaenyra.

In the books Daemon can indeed get hard and is not a f_cking loser with small D energy. Rhaenyra is not showArya s08 from ep. 1-5 and then this weird version of victim showCersei the rest of the episodes with the charisma of a wet rag who makes anyone that meets her want to slap her. She's not a GIRLBOSS, GATEKEEP, GASLIGHT joke of a character who wants to please her murder daddy. Their sons are much older. They marry each other much sooner (and actually had a proper romance beforehand not wtf Ryan and co came up that makes me wonder how anyone ships Matt and Renada). They have proper personalities and are cool to read about. I could go on.

But bottom line there is 0 doubt that not only the greens are wiped out, but that Daemon and Rhaenyra's line goes on and many houses you see in the main series are actually descendents of theirs - Targaryen, Baratheon, Martell, Plumm...

Viserys II did survive. The moment Aegon III saw him he recognized him. Viserys II knew things that only he could. He still had the dragon egg that had been placed at his cradle with him. Besides being able to recognize him, his siblings would also be able to recognize the egg.

Well I have enough respect for canon that I didn't assassinate the character of Viserys Targaryen and gave him the plots of Rogar Baratheon and Hoster Tully, I didn't turn Rhaenyra into a weird version of season 8 showArya, and that Daemon's d:ck can get hard (and he’s not a pathetic loser chasing after a girl who doesn't give 2 flying f:cks about him and only cares that daddy likes a c:ck on his kids) so I think by that alone I already won 😂 especially because of the latter!

Man... if a year ago someone told me "Oh yeah, someone is making a show inspired by Fire and Blood where Daemon Targaryen has €rectile disfunction" my face would be like:

Did you see the 2023 calendar and the poster with Alicent and Rhaenyra. The targaryen looking man has to be Viserys, coz why else would alicent hang onto him like a leech. Said man looks very handsome and I can't help but wonder what the more dashing Daemon would look like.

I did yes and I honestly have very little idea of what’s going on in there.

The people represented are Rhaenyra, Alicent, Criston and Daemon. It’s not Viserys my good people, it’s Daemon.

Alicent and Daemon look like star crossed lovers, or she does anyway, Daemon looks a bit disgusted if you ask me 😂

Then we have Rhaenyra with Criston. I wouldn’t say at all that their pose is very romantic. Though they are close, Criston looks at her like she’s far away and I can see a mixture of emotions there between love and hate. As for Rhaenyra (unlike Alicent) she isn’t looking at Criston (the way Alicent looks at Daemon seriously compare the two). She is looking outwards, somewhere else.

While it’s undeniable that Rhaenyra cared for Criston - this is a fact not a rumour - this ended when she married Laenor (aka started an affair with Harwin Strong) and from that point forward she never mentions him again. Never. Never spares him a thought, not even during the Dance when he’s one of her biggest enemies. And please do not take my word for it, check the books. After 114 AC never again does Rhaenyra mention or thinks of Criston Cole. He thinks of her though and speaks of her.

Tell me Septon Eustace’s version is the correct one without telling me Septon Eustace’a version is the correct one 🙄

Actually the one person who says something that could hint at an affair between them is Alicent who asks who protects the princess from Ser Cristin. Still… it’s a stretch I would say and at the time Rhaenyra was 12-14. They had an affair during this time then she had one with Daemon and Criston was fine with it? And Daemon didn’t see him as a threat unlike he later did Harwin? It was common knowledge Rhaenyra spent her days with Daemon and his behaviour was of someone courting a woman so I can’t see Criston (if he was having an affair with Rhaenyra) being ok with this and then not having a fallout with her. And again, she was very young at this point. Things just don’t add up but this is the period where someone says something that could hint an affair. After 112 AC we hear about how so many men courted Rhaenyra, and until her fallout with Criston we hear nothing else of the two together. Not to mention it’s said Rhaenyra had her own ideas of whom she wanted to marry. She wasn’t an idiot so I don’t think she meant a knight of the Kingsguard 🤦🏽‍♀️

Would you call this true love? Let’s now compare it with her feelings for Daemon. She loved him as a child, had an affair with him. Note here that both sources say this btw that an affair happened the extent of it is what differs - with Criston neither version says there was an affair, they just differ in who came in to who and got rejected - again read the books don’t take my word for it. And then after eight years apart Daemon gets Rhaenyra pregnant and they marry (order varies according to the versions but the events are facts). They have three children together, and she doesn’t have any other man during her marriage with him or after.

Now which of the two is sounding like the one true love? Don’t take my word for it, read Fire and Blood

Dont doubt Anon that the Team Criston crowd will only get bigger with redacted show. After all, I have no doubt they will turn Rhaenyra and Criston into Arianne and Arys (the actor playing Criston auditioned with that scene - the Dornish plot is being used now so everyone rejoice! Just with different characters 🙃). And they chose a much younger and handsome actor to play Criston compared to the one chosen for Daemon. This is not an accident. They will NOT make Daemyra/incest romantic, least of all involving Targaryens please remember what they did with Dany and Jon. So 0 surprise those people are like uuhhhhh TrUe LoVe

And then of course there’s the before show crowd who prefers to read fanfiction to get their info on the facts instead of the actual books, and is under the impression that Criston suddenly changed but he was good before. Please read any Psychology book I beg of you 🤦🏽‍♀️ not how the human mind works my good people. Not at all. Not to mention many of the people creating content for book only material are not Targaryen fans (most are either “neutrals”, “intellectuals” or people who just like “some” Targaryens you know, the ones who did their duty 🙃 and cleanse themselves of the incest sin; or ones they self insert into or see as stand ins for their faves from other houses).

Back to the illustration. I would honestly love to get an explanation of what the theme is. If I had to guess I might say two scorned people (Criston and Alicent and note how they stand on the same side) next to the dragons who wanted more than them/who did not deem them worthy of them (Rhaenyra/Daemon who again are both on the same side). Or the kingmaker and the “queenmaker” next to the women they wanted to destroy: the princess and the queen. The way they look at each other though, speaks volumes.

Criston Cole: looking at her with a mixture of love/hate, the face of someone looking at something who is very far away

Daemon: looking disgusted/bothered

Alicent (the most surprising of all if I might add!): looking sad/ maybe bitter about what could have been
