Artfight 2023 & Life Update?

Hey! I'm on artfight this year again. I'm FINALLY graduated so I have had the most free time in years. Because of this, I plan on doing frequent artfight attacks. My goal is two per week because I am working full time and draw slow :,-)

I am but a Small Guy but I truly hope to be more active in art spaces. Social media has been hella unhealthy for me, but I've cleansed my spaces online so I really only have accounts for art, and a personal IG. Twitter dying has been pretty good for my mental health, ngl.

Assuming you aren't a spam bot or followed me accidentally, thanks for supporting me! I am very critical of my art and often feel disheartened when comparing my art to others (I know). I'm trying to be better about making art just for funsies. Unrelated, does a talented artist wanna mentor me? :,-) I love my sketches but my digital art makes me wanna frow up sometimes.

its me again here to bitch about the japanese mobile game sensation turned empire-franchise-game toukenranbu riotiousdanceofblades (2015) under the cut

I feel like I am repreating myself all of the time but really, touken ranbu fans are either delusional but not my sexy brand of delusional but like actually you are all very incredibly stupid. We can discuss the game with more depth than just constant approval and still enjoy it. We can discuss things and dislike certain things and dmm/nitro are not a poor game devs that need our cash or else the game will die uwu stop being negative or it will tank!!!! mikazuki munechika is not starting a fucking gofundme to be able to afford rent this month he owns the fucking building you fucking idiot morons this is MULTIMILLION DOLLAR FRANCHISE it is not going to suddenly die out and sputter its last breath if you think the gameplay is bad and you say you are disappointed in its direction.

Also 'for the boring parts just play something else if your upset xD' is nonconstructive, the only way to fix tkrb's bad game design is to enjoy it unquestioningly or just not play? With defeatist attitudes like that this game will be dead in a year. At least try and address the problems if you really like the series and have more self-respect than playing a game you actively dont enjoy.

They can bank on the musical and stage plays being the workhorse of the series. That's fine and cool. They're really not hurting for money or popularity looking at the series domination in both musical sales and comiket doujin circles. But it doesn't detract from the fact they're dropping the ball with the game and since we are the ones keeping the lights on you absolutely should be able to say so.

I like that tkrb doesn't follow a gacha game mechanic where it just becomes straight up anime gambling addiction but sometimes I can feel that the game suffers because to compensate for not having easy whale button, it makes it so paid qol is the real only way to 'spend' in this game so everything around it is made purposefully tedious to incentivise you to buy into bypassing that shit.

 Unfortunately this model just makes people not play your game if there's no actual incentive to bypass the grind FOR. Once you've played the events, got the swords,  got the backgrounds, got the bgms, played the recollections there's .. not much point in playing the game anymore til new content comes along. This is a shortcoming of the game design and you have every right to be critical of that.

It's a shame that tkrb exists in the space with titans like FGO and GBF, because it's very very apparent that the game design of tkrb has not changed at all and absolutely to it's own detriment. The amount of new content for tkrb in a year in comparison to other similar collection games is absolutely laughable. Those two games in question probably get more content in two months than tkrb gets in the whole year. and there is always a drive in those series to improve qol, improve game mechanics, improve ux - imagine if fgo had the same day 1 experience today? we’d be fucking howling at what a big failure that game was a year out.

Case in point - the GBF collab with tkrb has more actual focused character content in their game than tkrb ever will. To this day if you want your obscure fav to ever be mentioned in the game again you better pray that a whole new sword gets added thats somehow related to them or a whole new world so they have a 1/100 or so chance of getting new lines. Or buy anime blu-rays and hope for a season 3. Otherwise? idk guess you better learn to make doujins or something lol. it’s not like tkrb has many unpopular characters imo since they’re all so lovably designed and i am a shill but really, imagine being a diehard  fan and just being resigned to the fact that hm, he’s just straight up not gonna be mentioned ever again... i guess.

That being said, I can't help but see the Special Investigation events as a breath of fresh air tbh even if their mechanic was tired, the callback to existing characters and expanding the lore is a direction I wish they'd take but it always seems that actually interesting stuff is gated behind months and months of the same old reruns.

I'll keep playing tkrb everytime there's something new or interesting but as a day 1 player its really disappointing that the game hasn't bothered to invest in qol or like actual content imo.

i have a feeling kogi is like imanotsurugi where the sword never actually existed but the tsukumogami was still summoned through the power of its legend but instead of the legend crystallising into a whole ass person. inari decided to take over rather than put the fate of history its self in a newborn tsukumogamis hands as a sort of helping hand or more likely an arbiter cause tbh i don’t think he cares too much bout us winning

maybe the original kogi was straight up overwritten by the sheer force of something as ancient and powerful as inari like they merged psuedo-servant style a la fate where it’s inari wearing kogis face cause like.

ima is just a colour swapped yoshitsune bc that’s his most famous owner and as a sword with no physical existence he had to latch onto SOMETHING to look like so maybe koginari is a colour swapped version of real kogi and he looks like the 2p version of the original
