We all know that they dont care about Annette from the game because Annette wasnt even a character; she was literally a plot device. She was the prise, the reward for bodying dracula after 50 hours of gameplay.

Annette in Nocture is a badass woman of color who's primary backstory evolves her escaping vampire slavery in the carribian during the 18th century french revolution. She fights alongside Richter and she's falls in love with him because of it.

Besides, we all know that the only reason castlevania purists bring up Annette not being the same is because they don't like her being black in the first place.

She's black. she's beautiful. She's kicking vampire butt and she's getting Belmont ass in the process.

no okay but it's cool as shit that Richter and Annette are each other's narrative foils in addition to love interests. (vague spoilers for the season below.)

they're both revolutionaries who derive a greater than usual amount of power from their family connections, but Richter clearly falls more on the family side--he mostly seems to be attending Maria's revolutionary meetings to protect her from vampire attacks rather than sharing her intense belief in the cause, and when he regains his magic it's due to a desperate desire to protect his family--while Annette only has the most tenuous connection to her family history but is a seasoned opponent to tyranny. it looks like Richter's got his fighting spirit back, but Annette has work still to do on the family front. considering how much of Castlevania has been about family up to this point, when that happens I expect she's going to be powerful as shit.
