Season Four, Chapter Nine: The Piggyback

I made it. Somehow, I made it.

The Netflix synopsis upset me even before I started the episode. "With selfless hearts and a clash of metal..." is just Eddie all over, isn't it?

I'm honestly still surprised no one in the Russia story died. I thought for sure the guard or Yuri was going to bite it. Or possibly Murray, but they just made him a regular so that seemed unlikely.

The Hop/Joyce hook-up was a long time coming. They're as bad as Nancy and Jonathan, dancing around each other - you can see where Jonathan gets it from.

This is the last time Nancy, Steve, and Robin see Eddie alive :(

For what is essentially longer than most movies, this episode really does keep you going all the way through. There's a LOT to it, and I never felt like I was getting bored even having seen it once before.

They manage to link the Russia storyline back to the Hawkins stuff pretty well, surprisingly.

Max wanted something bad to happen to her, and she definitely got it. I wonder how she'll feel in Season 5, if she'll think she deserved what happened to her?

The timelines for this last bit are kind of weird. Pretty much everything happens at once, but because they linger on certain scenes it makes it feel like some stuff takes longer than it does - like Steve, Nancy, and Robin are being strangled for like 45 minutes because the prison stuff is so far behind.

The blending of the Billy footage is really good; you'd never know Dacre didn't re-shoot it.

I love that Eddie's reaction when Dustin tells him it's time to go is to rock harder, and not run away.

Couldn't Eddie and Dustin's plot just end there? Let them leave and live happily ever after?

I do enjoy the Mind Flayer/Vecna dynamic twist. Considering we haven't seen the Mind Flayer at all this season, and we know it's still alive out there.

Also, the Mind Flayer is a giant spider. I never noticed that before, but it is. So clever.

"It was always you." The best kind of retcon is one where it doesn't even look like a retcon. Amazing storytelling.

"Stay still, it'll all be over soon." That's exactly what Billy said to the people that got flayed.

MHA: Kiyomi x Todoroki Relationship Timeline (Part 4)

Here is the fourth part of the full story of my canon x OC ship, Shoto Todoroki and Kiyomi Aida. This will run through how they first met, became friends, and fell in love. I'm only gonna go through Season 1 to Season 5 (at least up to the Endeavor Agency arc), as well as cover the two films. As I am writing this, the third movie isn't out yet, but I will explain what their relationship status is at that point. :3

Alright, this is obviously for (most of) Season 4, but a few things I wanna talk about before we start:

The Shie Hassakai arc (in this perspective) will be titled the "Remedial Course" arc, since that will focus on Kiyomi and Todoroki taking this course to get their licenses.

The arc that follows (the real "Remedial Course" arc) will be renamed to the "Winning Hearts" arc... for a couple of reasons.

I had originally thought of a "school dance" arc following the School Festival, but they're not a common thing in Japan. A little rewriting on the storyline had to be done, since a past bad experience with ex-friends played a part in Kiyomi's story.

We saw Kiyomi and Todoroki have a rough start, but they become friends, and quickly bonded throughout the summer. Now, let's see what happens when the mysterious force known as "love" comes into play.

Note that this is canon in my BNHA OC storyline, which is just the canon My Hero plot if my OCs were in it. (I didn't want to make a lot of drastic changes like with TMNT 2012 to fit my OCs)

START OF A NEW SEMESTER (S3 E24 - S4 E1)

After Goku (who also failed the exam) teases Todoroki for not getting his license, Kiyomi quickly defends him yet again.

While Class 1-A was battling Togata, Kiyomi also sat out with Todoroki and Nori, because she made the decision to record her classmates to use as footage for combat. (this surprised Todoroki because she had the option to look away whenever Togata was nude but she couldn't look away. XD)

The night after Tokuda visited 1-A, Kiyomi decided to talk with Mina privately, admitting to her that she was in love with Todoroki. Mina was made to promise to not say anything to the other girls, and she told Kiyomi that she'll be rooting for her and Todoroki.

REMEDIAL COURSE (SHIE HASSAKAI)

On the day before the first combat training lesson of the course, Todoroki noticed Kiyomi practicing her hand-to-hand combat skills with Alex and Uraraka.

When Todoroki talks to Bakugo about them, Nori, and Kiyomi need to catch up when Midoriya, Uraraka, Kirishima, Tokoyami, Tsuyu, and Alex were offered Work Study positions, Bakugo's reaction to the comments made Kiyomi laugh. Todoroki, however, didn't quite understand why it was so funny to Kiyomi.

After a combat match during their training lesson, Kiyomi noticed how Todoroki got injured and got concerned for him. Goku notices this and decides to pick on her of how she's "always dependent" of Todoroki, and he rudely reminded her of how it cost her from completing the exam. This, and her failing a combat match in the lesson, made Kiyomi begin to question her decision on becoming a hero.

Todoroki had noticed that Kiyomi has been sad lately and distancing herself from him. He overheard how Goku has been making fun of her lately and decides to deal with him.

Todoroki told Goku that if he dared to make fun of Kiyomi because of how brilliant she is and the amount of growth she's had, he would have to deal with him first. Afterwards, Todoroki thought about what he told his Mom about Kiyomi and realized that she means a lot to him, but is unsure of what.

Late in the night before the first written test of the course, Todoroki found Kiyomi by herself and decided to talk to her. He told her that how he confronted Goku and that he'll be there for her like how she's been there for him.

Kiyomi has also revealed to Todoroki how she was scared of making friends after how she was treated in middle school, and how going to UA was a chance to start new, including making new friends like Todoroki.

While Kiyomi talked about her path, she referred to Todoroki as "Shoto", shocking them both (she didn't call him by his first name because she feared that it would remind him of how Endeavor addressed him). Todoroki had no problem with Kiyomi calling him by his first name, which Kiyomi will continue doing from this point on.

On the day of the written exam, both Kiyomi and Todoroki passed and she thanked him for helping her regain her confidence. It was after that moment when Todoroki realized that he may have fallen in love with her.

WINNING HEARTS (REMEDIAL COURSE)

Kiyomi noticed Todoroki walk outside to answer his phone call when the raid team returned and follows him out to check on him. This is when Kiyomi finds out that Endeavor will be watching Todoroki during their next training lesson.

Knowing that Kiyomi never met Endeavor face-to-face, Todoroki told her to "stay close if he tries anything". He also promises to deal with his father if Kiyomi gets hurt.

After Kiyomi was introduced to Camie, she was shocked and jealous of how her social skills and flirting with Todoroki.

After Camie used her Quirk to trick a little girl during the special trial, Kiyomi was completely flustered, and Camie noticed how she reacted and discovered that Kiyomi had a crush on Todoroki.

While Bakugo, Yoarashi, Todoroki, Kiyomi, Camie, and Nori played with the kids after successfully winning their hearts, Kiyomi looked to see Todoroki showing his fire to a couple of kids and smiled sweetly, happy to see how much he has grown since the start of the year.

Before the girls met up with the boys to depart, Camie pointed out how Kiyomi was really interested in Todoroki and said that she'll be the "luckiest girl in Japan" if she dated him. She also added that chances that the two would date are high.

When Endeavor told Todoroki that he wants to become the father he wanted him to be, Todoroki also responds by telling him to respect his friendship with Kiyomi.

SCHOOL FESTIVAL

This excitement continued when the class continued to plan their gig and the Stage Team was made (Kiyomi and Nori were in the team along with Todoroki, Kirishima, Sero, and Koji).

Kiyomi was genuinely excited and shocked when Todoroki brought up the idea of a rave to the class when they were brainstorming on a gig for the Festival. This drowned out her feelings about her past Festival experience (she was ghosted by a couple girls who were once her friends during a Festival, making her nervous and worry about something similar happening).

During a brief break (when Eri came to visit UA for the first time), Todoroki suggested that Kiyomi should be the head of the stage team, recognizing how Jiro and Mina lead the band and dance team and that it was within their comfort zone.

Kiyomi gladly accepted the offer to be the stage manager and helped her team come together with a plan for their gig. Although he wasn't as excited, Todoroki was happy to see Kiyomi be excited and passionate.

Todoroki helped Kiyomi calm down before their class could start their gig, having faith that the concert will go as planned.

After the concert, Kiyomi and Todoroki spent the rest of the day enjoying the festival with their friends and classmates. When the festival itself was over, Kiyomi gave Todoroki a pendant she bought at one of the stands as a gift.

That night, the students all gathered to watch the fireworks to close off the Festival. Kiyomi and Todoroki sat together with some of their friends.

That does it for now! Next part will be a bit untraditional, since I cover pretty much one entire season in each part. However, for Season 5, it'll have to be divided into two parts since a lot will happen. But I will say that we'll focus on a couple bumps the two will face now we know that Todoroki has also fallen for Kiyomi.
