kagura bachi made me cave under peer pressure in record time (approx. 30 minutes) and ive now read the first chapter twice

its fucking COOL!!! you can see the influences everywhere from a bunch of diff sources, the plain expressions remind me a lot of Mob Psycho wheras the action screams Bleach and Chainsaw Man. this series has immense potential as a full-on Slasher series and already has some amazingly well done action scenes like the one above. the swordplay has a super dynamic "circular" feel to it thats really impressive to follow

alright well i guess ill just keep posting about kagura bachi every time a new chapter drops LOL

chapter 2 is def a lot less exciting than the first and mostly serves to better ground the setting and stakes for the series, after the first chapter sold you on the appeal so to speak. The goldfish imagery was already pretty cool in Chapter 1 but here its really taken to the next level, there's some serious vibes to the series already

More than anything the chapter really convinced me that my Mob Psycho comparison for tge last chapter really wasn't too far off base? Chihiro and Shiba really do give off Mob and Reigen vibes as the somewhat-dorky mentor helps guide this immensely powerful beast through the world. Even if Shiba isn't quite a comedy goldmine yet there's something kind of inherently funny about how casually they act around the immensely brutal and rendered bloldshed all around them (this spread below is probably my favorite from the chapter)

And, yeah, Chapter 2 shows that Kagurabachi is absolutely going to stay shamelessly gorey and brutal, but it continues to look immensely sick thanks to Hokazono's art. These plant growth things are probablt exclusive to just this guy but I cannot get enough of how cool they look in action

Overall - I'm enjoying the series!! I wish Hokazono-san the best of luck going forward and hope the series does well in Japan too as to not get cancelled 🙏🙏🙏
