She’s the man
fili x reader
Also please send in prompts, it would help dearly. You know like lines like "uhh what exactly do they do? kick names , kick ass."
Tumblr media
Summary: Gandalf tells you to hide the fact you are women ;to allow you come with the company without Thorin rejecting you because you are woman. I have seen this idea a bunch of imagines so I decided I'll take a kick at it , making it my own. Word count:2464
You had been apart of the company a couple of weeks , nine months now, yet your identity is still hidden. You barely talked to anyone; if you did it was to Gandalf or Bilbo. You knew Bilbo was smart he knew something was up with you, every month there was a couple of days where your face screwed up frowning ,or you clutched you're stomach. Bilbo was no idiot, he took in the small details, not bathing at the same time, always wearing a hat ,scarf and oversized clothing.
He decided to confront Gandalf about it, in which Gandalf brought you over and you told Bilbo your secret , and concluding that he was sworn to secrecy. This caused you to grow close to Bilbo, he would take watch when you bathed so no one saw you , you would ride next to him on the pony, and you would make fun of of the dwarves behind there backs.
The Two princes caught on about your close bond with the hobbit and decided they need to confront you. The two princes stood behind you smirking as you bent down to grab your bedroll packing it up. Oh you just know they stared at your ass , even though you were a 'man'. You had chosen the name Jared , as your male name , you didn't know why , you knew how to read and you weren't a moose. Yeah.
"Mister Jared?" Kili has called out , making you stand up right facing them, towering them slightly , because simply you were a human. You had just finished packing your bedroll ready to be on the road again when they had gained your attention. You had nodded trying not use your horrible excuse of a mans voice.
They had taken in a big breath, before fili spoke "uh.. we were wondering if you and Bilbo were um-""are you fucking master boggins?" You had gasped at their question, and their use of words , "why would you think that?!" You had whispered shouted at the princes , as there flashes flashed red , well mostly fili , kili was smirking. "Well you always take him to keep watch when you bath so..." he had grinned at you, you scoffed.
"Bloody hell, maybe I just don't want prople seeing my body, it's called privacy." You spoke quietly not trying to draw the others attention.
"Why wouldn't you be comfortable?" Kili had continued not convinced really, he was really annoying you now. "Because I don't have the typical male body-""how so, you don't have breasts.” you had gasped "maybe I don't want dwarven princes seeing my cock out , then bloody wanking to my big ass cock." And with that you walked away with your bag hoping on your pony ready to continue your journey, leaving the princes stunned.
Now you were at Rivendell, you were finally able to bathe in peace and walk around in a elven dress and no one would recognise you. You and Bilbo had decided to share a room, he had been writing in a book on the bed as you went to bathe. However once you had gotten out wearing just a robe ; Bilbo was no where to be found. So you had dressed in a mint green dress that Elrond had given you , knowing your secret. You would have worn your own clothes, but Bilbo had taken them to wash them for you , what a nice hobbit he was.
You were very much grateful for the friendship that bloomed between you had Bilbo. You could not deny the attraction you felt towards the golden haired prince, you had no chance he liked women but you had to be a man. You wish he could get to know you , y/n a women , That had been admiring him the whole journey.
So now you were in search of a little hobbit , in a fancy dress which showed more of a bust than you were use to, you know being a 'man' and all you didn't show anything. You spent around an hour searching for him; before you found him at a fountain with your clothes all laid out to dry.
Unknowingly to you two dwarven princes were following you , in awe of your beauty , hiding in bushes and such. "Bilbo!" You had called out , making the hobbit turn and smile at you. "Look at you all dressed up!" He had called, you smiled widely at him before bending over picking him up placing him on your hip like a toddler, as he had just bunched up all the clothes placing them in a bag which you took and placed on your shoulder.
Whilst fili had whispered to his brother , "I know that bottom, kili." Kili had looked at him confused. "I don't know who's it is but I know it." The brothers stayed hid thinking where they could know you from, surely they would remember such a beautiful girl , they had thought.
You had headed back to your room to change , sending Bilbo to dinner to make sure no one went looking for you , he would just tell them 'no he is just getting dressed he had just bathed he will be here soon.' But it was too late Thorin had already sent fili to your room to fetch you. You were half dressed, in your trousers and undershirt which was a thin white vest which showed you definitely had breasts even if they were small or huge, no hat ,hair down.
Knock, Knock, Knock. You had assumed it was Bilbo telling you to hurry up, he always knocked just in case , but he seen you in a vest and pants before so it was fine. "Come on." You had raised your voice so Bilbo could hear. The door creeked open , and the shuffling of feet was heard soon after a gasp. "Um..excuse me but why are you wearing Jareds cloth- wait." You had turned around to see a red faced Fili , you gasped throwing on your shirt.
He thought about it and it all made sense. "You are Jared. " he spoke you nod, "yeah, um but that's not my name, it's Y/n." You spoke looking down at the floor in embarrassment. "Y-your a women..why lie?" He asked still shocked , he knew he liked you since he met you , but it wasn't common , well it was rare for a male to like another male so he pushed it off. "Your uncle wouldn't have let me come, plus if anything it was Gandalf's idea." You sat on the end of the bed , Fili shut the door , and walked to next to you taking a seat.
"Is that why you would only talk to Bilbo rarely anyone else? Because he knew?" He questioned you, you had simply nodded. "So are you going to keep this a secret still? I don't think Uncle will abandon you on the side of the road. The company like you, plus if he tries to kili and I will hide you in our packs. Mahal I will develop ale belly over night just to hide you like that.." You giggled at his words, small blush on your cheeks , he smiles at you.
"I guess ;I must now." And with that he grabbed you hand pulling you up , saying we already late for dinner and there won't be any left if we do not hurry. He lead you down the stairs and to the company who were sat at two tables, they all had looked at you and fili confused. "Who's the lass,Fil." Bofur had shouted with a smirk looking at your interwoven hands,which you tried to drop but Fili kept a hold. "You already know y/n." Gandalf looked mortified , looking towards Thorin , who's lips twitched up for a second.
He wasn't stupid just like Bilbo he had figured out that you were not a man, he didn't push it because you stayed out of his way and in fights you tried your best even though you had barely any experience. You didn't know why Gandalf had requested you on this trip, nor did anyone else apart from Gandalf who forced you on this trip.
The company had sat staring still until Bilbo stood up, throwing his arms up in the arm. "You bloody idiots , it's Jared ," he had shouting , as the dwarves whipped back to you eyeing you up and down. " you have a cock?" Kili had enquired only for Dwalin to slap him in the upside of the head. You pull fili by the hand sitting down on the next empty seat.  "Y/n been pretending to be male this whole time, so that you would treat her the same, I did not want you treat her like a burden, when she is not." Gandalf spoke up making the dwarves turn their attention to the wizard , no reaction at first.
Well that was until Fili stood up from beside you with a cup of ale ,"I say we welcome her , as we did before." "Aye to that." And with that they drank.
That started your friendship with the oldest prince ;however it was not like the one you had with Bilbo. When you had all been kidnapped by Goblins he had shield you from the whips , and once you were running to escape he had grabbed your hand pulling you along with him.
Then when the orca had ambushed you  he became your shield again , even though you told him not to and tried to push past him but he would not budge. After that the eagles came he had almost suffocated you , to hold you , trying stop you falling off the eagle. Which you would not have.
I am not joking when I say this , when Beorn started chasing you he had thrown you over your shoulder , Turning into sonic to get you to safety. This is exactly what Gandalf meant about being treated like a burden, you didn't know that wasn't why he was doing it.
Anyways you all had been captured by the elves of the Greenwood realm , and you were stripped down to your underclothes not the dwarves, thrown in cells but then Bilbo had broke you all out. Your vest see through from the water , as you out swam the orcs. Legolas the kings son stopped watching you all go. You had turned around in the barrel "get shagged by an octopus, princess!" You shouted towards him, you were pissed off by the fact they had stripped you to such a level. He had looked at you like a little puppy turning his head side to side, you turned away to smirking company.
"She's got a mouth on her lads." Bofur had shouted out smirking, not that you saw kili or some of the other dwarves raising their eyebrows suggestively. He sent them a look that said  fuck off.  As you reached land stepping out of the barrels soaking wet, hair sticking to you , clothes sagging down due to the water weight.
You had noticed your problem moving your hands ove the fabric of your vest ,which your nipples were visible, crossing your arms. No one had any coats as they were only stripped of them.  Fili had walked over to you ready to strip himself of his tunic, you shook your head no. "I'll be fine once it dries, don't worry." You had spoken quietly to the dwarf . Before he could say anything a barge man had appeared firing his bow at the rock kili held in defence.
"Do it again and you're dead." Damn his voice sounded like pure golden domination,and stern. Fili had placed himself in front you, you had groaned at his action, which he ignored.
Soon enough you were all upon his barge,only then did you confront fili,who left his injured brother to follow you around like a lost puppy. He stood close next to you,you could almost feel the heat radiating of him ,oh how you wished for warmth. Goosebumps mapped down your  bare arms like snow,even the barge man had looked at you in concern. You glanced at fili's frowning face, "Fili?" he had turned to look at you letting out an quiet 'hmm?' you had broken his thoughts of you,but you didnt know that."why do you seek to protect me ,when I dont need protecting. I thought you knew I didnt want to be treated like a burden." you had whispered not wanting the company hearing your petty moans.
Fili took his gaze off the icy lake ,looking at you like he didnt know what to say,he knew a bit over the top."its not like that,you aren't a burden...its just that..uhm"his flashes lightly with a blush. "fee,please..." your tone sincere and worried as you turned to him gripped his rough hands,you couldnt believe you had touched him you go got move your hands but again he keeps them in his hands. "the reason I'm like that is because you are my one y/n,its my duty to keep you safe,even if it costs my own life." he had looked away in embarrassment back to the cold water ,but you hand moved so you were directly infront of his lips ,pressing yours to his ,delivering a short kiss.
"if you die then I die with you,now keep me warm with those strong arms." and with that a chuckle left his mouth quiety as he cupped your cheeks pressing his lips to yours like you did he gasps in shock after. "god you are freezing,darn lucky im wearing two tunic?"
"you are wearing two? I would have took one earlier ,Ijust didnt want you to be cold. seriously everyone has seen my nipples through my vest." you groaned in annoyance but fili soon shedded one of his tunics putting on you ,you thank him before he wraps his muscular arms around your body,as you both look out to the lake. However the whole company had watched in awe.
You already know you have the princes and Thorin you also know fili gonna get hella jealous when you have to pretend to court bard in about 0.03 seconds.

Elastic Heart - Part 10 - Old Friends
Tumblr media
Warnings: Fighting, ETC
Pairings: Hobbit X OFC; Thranduil X OFC; Fili X OFC; LOTR X OFC
A/N: Since Tumblr is Broke you’ll have to go to my master-list to find all the other parts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Do not think I won’t kill you, dwarf. It would be my pleasure.” The blonde elf says to Thorin and I narrow my eyes at him. The dwarves look around and see that we are completely surrounded and outnumbered by Mirkwood Elves, all with drawn bows aimed at us.
“Help!” I hear Kili call out and start to run toward him only to be pushed back by a nearby Elf as Fili calls out for his brother. I watch as a spider is pulling Kili away by the foot.
Suddenly a female Elf, with auburn hair like mine runs through the forest. She kills three spiders with her bow and knife, then kills the spider pulling Kili with an arrow. She turns to attack another spider behind her, and yet another spider rushes toward Kili.
“Throw me your dagger! Quick!” He calls out to her but she refuses, “If you think I’m giving you a weapon, dwarf, you’re mistaken!” She kills her spider with her knife, then spins and throws the knife, killing the spider that was attacking Kili. Kili looks on in amazement. I smile inwardly as I recognize his look, it was the same one his brother had given me.
 “Search them.” The blonde elf says and I instantly grip tightly to Ithildin’s hilt. The elves approach the dwarves and start searching them first. I watch as an elf confiscates two of Fili’s knives; before the leader pulls a picture frame with two pictures out of Gloin’s pocket, “Hey! Give it back! That’s private!”
The blonde Elf looks at a picture of a dwarf and says, “Who is this? Your brother?”
“That is my wife!”
The Elf looks at the other picture, which is of a dwarf child, “And what is this horrid creature? A goblin mutant?”
“That’s my wee lad, Gimli.” The Elf raises his eyebrow at Gloin in contempt. My gaze turns toward Fili once again as the elf searching him finds even more knives all around his person. Fili sighs when the elf finds even some in a secret hidden pocket. I feel someone grab Ithildin and I tense.
“Adleg-ten.” (Release it) I say with as much anger as I can muster. The elf stares at me in shock before turning to the blonde Elf. He walks up to me and as one of the other Elves holds me he pulls Ithildin from my grasp making me have a sudden panic attack.
My breathing starts to race as my body is instantly covered in a cold sweat. I move forward to lunge at him but feel a hand holding me back. I turn toward it to see Dwalin shaking his head silently telling me it’s not worth it. “Gyrth in yngyl bain?” (Are the spiders dead) I hear the Blonde elf say to the Auburn haired female and I listen silently as they talk back and forth.
“Ennorner gwanod in yngyl na nyryn. Engain nar.” (Yes, but more will come. They’re growing bolder.) I look over to right as Fili opens his jacket to show the elf searching him that he has no knives left; however, the elf finds another one hidden in Fili’s hood. An elf hands the blonde Elf Thorin’s sword, Orcrist, and he inspects it. “Echannen i vegil hen vin Gondolin. Magannen nan Gelydh.”(This is an ancient Elvish blade. Forged by my kin.) “Where did you get this?” He says as he turns toward Thorin. “It was given to me.” The lead Elf points the sword at Thorin and says, “Not just a thief, but a liar as well.”
I tense against the Elf still gripping tightly to my arm when the blonde Elf yells, “Enwenno hain!” (Take them!) The elves begin to lead us away. As they begin to walk, Bofur turns and whispers to Thorin, “Thorin, where’s Bilbo?” Thorin looks around, but sees no sign of Bilbo. We are led through the wood and over a bridge into the Woodland Realm. As we pass through the gates I feel myself pulling my arm out of the Elf’s grasp and when he makes a move to recollect his grasp Dwalin places himself between the elf and me.
I let out a sigh of relief that they had yet to realize that I was in fact an elf. After pass through the gate, the blonde elf addresses the guards of the gate. “Holo in ennyn.” (Close the gate.)
As it starts to close I feel Bofur reach over and gently take my hand. My grip tightens on his as we are led through the raised wooden walkways of the Woodland Realm. The entire place is built out of tree roots in a subterranean cavern. Upon reaching the dungeons we are pushed, protesting, into several cells.
“This is not the end of it! You hear me?” Dwalin yells out as he is tossed into a cell. The elf in charge of Fili finds another large dagger hidden in his coat, and Fili sighs in frustration. I am lucky enough to be placed in the same cell as Fili.
As the cell door slams shuts I find myself falling to the floor of the cell my legs finally giving way. Kili addresses the auburn haired elf as she locks him in his cell. “Aren’t you going to search me? I could have anything down my trousers.” I hear him say and I suddenly feel a smile fill my lips.
“Or nothing.” She replies and I stifle a laugh.
As she haughtily slams the cell door shut and walks away, the blonde elf says, “I Nogoth amman e tîr gin? Tauriel?” (Why does the Dwarf stare at you, Tauriel?) ‘Oh so that is her name’ I think to myself as she replies, “Ú-dangada?” (Who can say?) Tauriel looks away from the blonde Elf as she says smiling a little and looking dreamy. “E orchal be Nogoth.” (He’s quite tall for a Dwarf.) She suddenly realizes what she’s doing and quickly looks at the Blonde Elf and continues, “Pedithig?” (Do you not think?)
As Tauriel walks away, he addresses her; “Orchal eb vui, mal uvanui en.” (Taller than some; but no less ugly.) Dwalin and several other dwarves including Fili throw themselves against their cell doors, grunting in their effort until Balin finally yells at them. “Leave it! There’s no way out. This is no Orc dungeon; these are the halls of the Woodland Realm. No one leaves here but by the king’s consent.” I grip tightly to my shoulders as I try to think of anything else other than being as close as I now am to Thranduil.
“It’ll be alright,” Fili says as he kneels down beside me. I say nothing but nod in agreement. I open my eyes and suddenly realize that with no doubt in my mind when they brought Thorin back I would be the next one to go. I gulp down a breath of air as I try to think of what I was going to tell him. Letting out a sigh I walk over to the single solitary bed and set beside Fili.
I turn to see him staring at the wall and I find that I am no longer worried about myself but am worried for him and his kin. Leaning over I gently nudge his shoulder with mine as I say, “When all this is over, what do you plan on doing?” He smirks as he says, “You mean if we survive the dragon?” I nod as i force a smile. “I don’t think I have thought that far ahead, I do know that I’ll one day have to take the throne form uncle but until then I’m not sure.”
I smile softly as I say, “I believe it’s something you might wanna give a thought.”
He chuckles as he says, “And what do you plan to do?”
I open my mouth to answer but find that I also haven’t thought that far ahead. “I guess I also haven’t thought about it. I’ve been on my own for so long that I haven’t given any thought to the future.”
“You could always stay in Erebor with us, I’m sure uncle will allow it.” Fili says and I smile as I say, “I may take you up on that.” I pull my legs up to my chest and suddenly realize that the elves hadn’t taken my dagger. Pulling it out I stare at it for a moment before sighing.
“I guess I was meant to come here anyway.” I quickly place it back in the confines of my boot as the elves bring Thorin down into the dungeon. Thorin is thrown into a cell beside the other dwarves, and his jailer walks over to my cell with a ring of jangling keys.
“My king wants to speak with you.” He says as he opens the door. I grit my teeth as I say, “You may tell your king I have nothing to speak to him about.”
Suddenly I am pulled from the cell and before Fili can react the door is slammed behind me.
“Randir!” Fili cries out and instantly the cells erupt with angry protests.
“Leave her alone!” Thorin yells as he reaches out of his cell to grab my outstretched hand but his fingers only graze mine. I thrash around as I try to get free from them until I am no longer within earshot of the dwarves. I look at my captors and let out a sigh as I finally give in and let them take me away.
The elves lead me to the throne room where Thranduil is sat upon his throne. I keep my eyes down so that my face and ears are also shielded from him. As he stands he says, “Tell me why is a maiden of man traveling with thirteen dwarves?” I remain silent. “Don’t feel like answering then I will ask you another question.” He stands and I glance out of the corner of my eye see him take Ithildin from one of his guards and tense. “How came you by this blade? My guards say you were very reluctant to surrender it to them.”
“That is because it belongs to me.” I say as I feel anger fill my body.
“So it does speak,” He says as a chuckle escapes his lips, before he continues, “Then you will answer the question, How came you by this blade?” I ignore his question and find that he suddenly becomes very angry, “Answer me!”
I feel my anger get the better of me as I jerk my head up and as my eyes find his I yell, “I don’t answer to you! Nor do I ever intend to! That blade is mine, he belongs to me; you will return him to me.”
Thranduil stares at me for a moment before he says, “It seems the stubbornness of dwarves has rubbed off on you mortal. That is a shame, too bad you are wrong. This blade belonged to a very old friend of mine I shall be keeping it.”
My heart drops but I keep the emotion hidden from my face as I say, “If you will not return my blade than perhaps you will accept a trade?”
He raises a perfect eyebrow as he says, “And what would a mortal have that I would ever want?”
I roll my eyes as I lean down and produce his father’s dagger. At the sight of me having a blade his guards start to run toward me but he stops them. I flip the dagger in my hand and hold it up so he can see it. I watch as his eyes widen slightly at the sight as he says, “How came you by this?”
I gulp down a breath of air before I say, “I found it on the battlefield after the battle of Dagorlad, centuries ago. I meant to return it to you as it was your fathers but I couldn’t find the courage to.”
His eyes slowly turn from the blade to my own. He stares at me for a moment before he says, “Iston i nîf gîn,” (I know your face.) I quickly look away as I bring the dagger down to my side. “Melethril,” He says and I instantly feel like running. I manage a glance back up at him right as he moves closer to me but I quickly back away.
He slowly walks toward me his eyes full of worry and curiosity. “I thought you dead.” He says as he finally stops moving toward me. “Melethril did die Thranduil Oropherion, she died the day her father did. My name is Randír.” He stares at me for a moment before saying, “What happened to you?”
“I have no intention of telling you,” I hand him his father’s dagger as I continue; “This is rightfully yours.” As he takes it from my hand he quickly moves forward and grabbing my wrist pulls me into his arms where he holds tightly to me.
I fight against him at first until the familiar smell leaves and flowers fills my senses. My body shakes uncontrollably as I stand there unsure of what to do with my hands. I hadn’t let a man hug me or even touch me without my permission not since I was raped.
The sudden memory floods my mind sending me into a panic. I quickly push him away as I say, “D-don’t t-t-t-touch me!” I can feel my heart racing inside my chest and fall to the floor grasping my sides. I suddenly longed to be back in my cell with my friends. “I need to go back, let me go back. Thorin needs me, Fili needs me.” I say the sentence over and over again not noticing the looks of pure shock on Thranduil and the surrounding guard’s faces.
“Leave us!” Thranduil yells to his guards causing them to scatter as they leave us alone. “Melethril,” He says as he leans down and reaches out to me causing me to flinch from his touch. “Have I ever given you reason to believe I would ever hurt you?” I slowly look over at him to see concern filling his tiffany blue eyes and I shake my head. “I do not know what has happened to you, but I do know that you are safe now.” I feel his hand gently touch my cheek and I feel my arms move on their own as they reach out and wrap around him.
“It was so horrible!” I cry out as I clutch tightly to his robes tears falling from my eyes. I feel one of his hands gently rub my back as the other strokes my hair.
“You’re safe now.”
“I missed you so much!”
“And I missed you, let’s get you cleaned up and you can tell me what happened and why you are traveling with dwarves.” He says and I instantly think about the dwarves in the cells below and release my grip on him.
I pull away and say, “I should be with my friends.”
“You are with your friend.” He says as he tries to pull me back into his arms.
“You are not whom I am speaking of.”
“The dwarves?” He says with a sudden realization, “You think you are safer with the dwarves? Have you gone mad?”
I jump to my feet my fear now gone and replaced with anger. “Why; because I would rather have the company of dwarves to that of an Elf? I would never abandon those who have protected me and taken me in as one of their own. I’m not like you!” I didn’t mean the last part but in the spur of my anger it had come out.
He stares at me eyes wide as he says, “What do you mean?”
“The dwarves, I may not have been there but after the dragon took their home you just left them there and for what a bunch of measly gems? They had just lost their homes and although I do not blame you for not wanting to risk the lives of your kin against the dragon you could have helped them get somewhere safe but no you just left them there!”
“You know nothing of what you speak! I did what was best for my kin, even if you do not agree.”
“Take me back to my friends Thranduil.”
“I will not.”
“Why not?”
“Because I do not wish too,”
“Then I will return to them on my own!”
“Melethril, they are not your kind. They cannot help you like we can, like I can.”
“They may not be Elves but they are my family, they accept me for me. They know all the bad things that have happened and they still claim me.”
“But they do not love you like I-” He stops mid sentence but I know what he means to say.
“You what? You can’t. What would your wife say?”
Sadness fills his eyes as he says, “She died, in battle. Not too long after my son was born.”
I feel a wave of sadness and regret fill my heart making me say, “I am sorry, I didn’t know.” I fight the urge to hug him by saying, “I need to go back, they will worry about me.”
He starts to argue but instead shakes his head says, “Go, If you need anything just tell the guards. They will let me know.”
I manage one last look back at him to see him staring off after me with longing in his eyes. I didn’t know he had actually loved me when we were younger. I guess that was another reason why our fathers arranged our marriage. I sigh as I wrap my arms around myself and walk back across the bridge that let away from his throne. Guards quickly surround me and lead me back to my cell where Fili is waiting with worry in his eyes.
“Are you alright?” Thorin asks from his cell as mine is slammed closed.
“I’m alright,” I say as I sit down on the solitary bed and let out a heavy sigh. I look up to see Fili standing next to the door staring daggers at the guards who were now leaving and I softly smile. I felt safe with the dwarves, why was that? They were men and yet my memories and fears weren’t triggered by them. My head starts to throb at the thought.
“What did he want?” Fili asks as he walks over and kneels down in front of me.
“First he wanted to know why a mortal was traveling with dwarves and then-” I pause for a moment before I sigh and say, “Look I have to tell you all something, I should have told you when I told you all my past but I was afraid if you knew, if Thorin knew, I would lose the only people who care about me and I them.”
Fili reaches over and takes one of my hands in his as he says, “You have nothing to fear, tell us.”
“The reason I didn’t want to come here is because when I was younger my father had an arrangement for me to marry a fellow Elf, a prince.”
“Why would we-” Fili starts but I instantly silence him as I say, “It was Thranduil. The prince I was arranged to marry was Thranduil.” I look up into his eyes to see them staring at me with an unknown look in his eyes. “Were you going to marry him?” I hear Dwalin ask from a neighboring cell and I chuckle as I say, “Of course not. I grew up with him, he was a good friend but I didn’t think of him in that way.” “Then there is nothing to worry about, you’re still on our good side.” I chuckle as I say, “Thank you Dwalin.”
I feel Fili’s fingers gently rub mine and I smile as I say, “I’m glad I have friends like you all. It almost makes me forget the pain in my heart.” Fili smiles softly as he pulls my hands up to his lips where he gently places a soft kiss upon my knuckles making me smile brighter. “That’s what friends do,” He says as he sits down next to me and allows me to rest my head in his lap. Closing my eyes I try to let the sound of Elves singing far off relax me. I feel Fili’s hand gently brush my hair back out of my face making butterflies fill my stomach.
A few minutes later I hear Kili talking with the auburn haired female Elf from before and I smile. “I see your brother has a crush,” I say to Fili and he chuckles. “I think she might like him back.”   He looks down into my eyes as he says, “I think you may be right.” I smile as I think to myself, ‘Just like his brother has a crush on an elf.’
Grandma’s Ring pt.5
Warnings: I’m not sure. Maybe cussing? And more backstory 4 u
A/n: Can ya’ll tell I got my writing mojo back?^^
    With Bilbo seated in his chair, you go back to the company of dwarves. They quieted down after he’d passed out, but they still murmur about the journey to Erebor, the key, and what lies in wait for them. You carefully pick up the contract and curl it back up, placing it on a table away from them. Brushing your hands along your trousers, you turn back to the fourteen men.
    “When do we leave tomorrow?”
    A mixture of confusion, surprise, a glare, and a knowing look are turned to you. Gandalf seems amused as he watches the dwarves react differently, though he still watches you with a careful, almost protective look.
    “You will not be leaving,” Thorin says, staring you down.
    “If Bilbo goes, so do I. And I know if I go, he’ll come as well. He’s a hobbit, a closed in race, but he’s protective of his friends. He wouldn’t let me travel alone with a group of males.”
    Bilbo would have joined regardless before your influence, but with you here now, with you being close to him, you aren’t entirely sure. You don’t want to take any chances, though, and this is your best idea. Besides, you want to go either way. It’s the journey of a lifetime, too. How could you possibly miss this chance?
    “Can you fight?” Dwalin asks.
    That makes you stumble, your arms crossing in a defensive manner. “Well...not exactly...I’ve been living here, so how do you expect me to? But I can learn.”
    A few of them grunt, the ones you assume are the strongest fighters. Just as you’re about to back off and busy yourself in other ways, Gandalf motions his hand to you.
    “If you can learn and if Bilbo does join us, I think you will be a valuable member.”
    “I do not want her being extra baggage on us. Your burglar will be enough as it is,” Thorin growls, making you bristle slightly.
    “Bilbo is much more than you know, Thorin Oakenshield. I promise you that.”
    A bit later, you, Bilbo, and Gandalf are with each other, Bilbo awake with a mug in his chair.
    “I’ll be alright, let me just sit quietly for a moment.”
    You pick at the skin by your fingernail as Gandalf turns to reply to him.
    “You’ve been sitting quietly for far too long. Tell me; when did doilies and your mother’s dishes become so important to you? I remember a young hobbit who always was running off in search of elves and the woods, who’d stay out late, come home after dark, trailing mud and twigs and fireflies. A young hobbit who would have liked nothing better than to find out what was beyond the borders of the Shire. The world is not in your books and maps; it’s out there.”
    A smile cracks your expression. “That sounds like a very different hobbit to me.”
    “I can’t just go running off into the blue. I am a Baggins, of Bag-End.”
    “And a Took,” you add again, looking up at them.
    “Yes, you are also a Took. Did you know that your great-great-great-great-uncle, Bullroarer Took, was so large he could ride a real horse?”
    Almost instinctively, you look up at the portrait of said Took on the wall. Funny, you’re fairly certain that’s what the camera in the movie does as well.
    “Yes,” Bilbo says.
    “Well, he could. In the Battle of Green Fields, he charged the goblin ranks. He swung his club so hard, it knocked the Goblin King’s head clean off, and it sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit hole. And thus the battle was won, and the game of gold invented at the same time.”
    A small chuckle escapes you before you can stifle it.
    “I do believe you made that up.”
    “Well, all good stories deserve embellishment. You’ll have a tale or two to tell of your own when you come back.”
    “Can you promise that I will come back?”
    You look up at Gandalf, knowing what would be said, but curious nonetheless.
    “No. And if you do, you will not be the same.”
    “That’s what I thought. Sorry, Gandalf, I can’t sign this. You’ve got the wrong hobbit.”
    Bilbo walks away from the both of you, passing Thorin and Balin, and leaving you with a sighing wizard.
    “Do you still wish to join us?” he asks you after a bit, after watching the exchange between the dwarves.
    “You know I do.”
    His eyes stay on you before he stands up. “I do. You are like your grandmother in that regard.”
    “What was she like...here?”
    “Here?”
    You sigh softly, tugging on a loose strand of your hair. “I’m...not from...Middle-Earth,” you murmur. “There’s no magic in my world, no journeys like this, nothing. I don’t know how I got here or if I can go back, but knowing she was here...what was she like? Did being here change her? And will it change me?”
    “She was...one of the kindest and stubborn person I’ve ever known. She loved learning the languages here, loved being a part of everything. Most importantly, she loved. And because you have her ring, she loved you. So, no, I don’t think she changed, but I think you will.”
    “Will it be a good change?”
    He stays quiet for a bit and it worries you.
    “It will be good if you want it to.”
    You nod slightly. “Gandalf...how well did you know her?”
    “I knew her as a student. I taught her as much as she wanted. That ring was enchanted by her before she left. So she could always come back to her second home.”
    “But why give it to me and send me here? I didn’t make a wish, I wasn’t in a horrible place in life, this isn’t an escape for me.”
    Gandalf sighs again. “Maybe she wants you to change something. Perhaps...there’s more to her ring than you know.”
    You fall silent this time, looking at your hands. Her ring. The weight against your collar is cool and heavy, and, when you cup it in your palm, it’s smooth. No engravings, no gems. You aren’t gonna risk ruining it to try and find glowing elvish in it by throwing it in the fire, but there’s something about the ring you can’t place. It’s enchanted, yes. How much can it do, though?
    “If you truly are sure about this journey, I suggest you go rest. You will need to be up quite early if you wish to keep up with these dwarves.”
    You nod again, getting up while still staring at the ring. Did your grandmother send you here to fix the story? Maybe she wanted you to save the Durins from Azog, maybe she wanted you to protect them. Protect all of them.
    “Goodnight, Gandalf.”
    “Sleep well, child.”
    However, when you walk into your room, you don’t get in bed right away. You stay by the partly open door to hear the dwarves still. You know they’ll be singing soon, one of the most calming songs in your opinion. Though, maybe that’s just because of Thorin’s, or Richard’s in your world, singing voice.
    “Far over the misty mountains cold
    To dungeons deep and caverns old
    We must away ere break of day
    To find our long-forgotten gold.”
    A small smile graces your lips as you lean against your doorframe. You almost don’t notice as your eyes drift close, slipping into a calming sleep at your door. As you fall asleep, you can almost see the Lonely Mountain standing in all its glory. The bustling of dwarves, the sound of the forges ringing, of how beautiful it’d look with it cleaned up from Smaug’s ruling.
    The sun shining in your eyes wakes you up and, hearing the hushed voices and the movement of dishes and furniture, you know the dwarves haven’t left yet. You quickly change into the clothes you arrived here in, they seem the most like travel clothes, and you pull your cloak over your shoulders like a shawl. With a tug of some boots, you stumble out to find them packing.
    “Ah, Y/n!” Gandalf says happily, carrying a wrapped bundle in his arms. “So glad you could join us. If you are coming, please sign the contract on the table.”
    “And grab what you may need,” Balin adds, walking past with his pack in hand.
    “Then come back to me.”
    You nod and quickly scrawl your name, adding a note to Bilbo to not forget his handkerchief, then going to get your own bag. You don’t pack much, just some clothes, food, and some other supplies. You still don’t have weapons, though, but you aren’t sure how to use them anyway. So, you just go to Gandalf again, where he has laid his bundle on a table. There’s a small, almost happy twinkle in his eyes.
    “I did what you guys told me. Now what?”
    He motions you beside him before slowly pulling the cloth away. In the bundle is a quiver full of red tailed arrows, a bow with carvings along the wood, and a sword with a dark belt of leather. The buckle of the belt is a shiny polished silver color with a few small pouches on the side.
    “What...where did you get these?”
    “They were used by your grandmother. Since you do not have any weapons yourself, I am sure she would want you to use these ones.”
    You carefully pick up the sword and pull it out of the sheath, watching as the sunlight catches the metal. “Wow…”
    “The ponies and dwarves are waiting outside. Come, we don’t want to keep them waiting too long.”
    A quick nod follows as you fasten the belt around your waist over your tunic, the hooking the quiver and bow over your shoulders. You quickly grab a handkerchief, though, just in case Bilbo forgot anyway.
    “Which pony is mine?” you ask, walking up to the dwarves.
    One of the ponies tosses its head, it's braided mane flying out into the cool morning air. You carefully place your hand on it’s nose, making it huff against your skin. Its bright eyes follow your face as you coo to it.
    “What about this one?”
    You see Bofur shrug. “That lad’s up for grabs if ya want him, lass.”
    Humming thoughtfully to yourself, you nod and pet his head. “How about...Amicus?”
    Ori looks over to you. “What’s language is that?”
    You can almost feel Thorin staring at you. Luckily, it isn’t any elven language.
    “It’s Latin for friend. Grandma taught me some other languages when mom would work.”
    Amicus snorts again, nudging his nose into your shoulder.
    “I’d say he likes it,” Balin says with a smile.
    “Come, we must be off if we wish to make good time,” Thorin calls. “Mount up and let us move out.”
    You let out a soft huff as you pull yourself onto Amicus’ back, making sure your new sword doesn’t hit him. With one last glance towards Bag-End, hoping that Bilbo would come out before you all left. However, you know he won’t.
    “Walk on, Amicus,” you say, nudging his sides gently before he falls into line with the other ponies.
    It’s a fairly silent ride out of the Shire into the sunny world of Middle-Earth, though some of them do mutter, “waste of time” and “use a hobbit” under their breath. You have to bite your cheek hard almost to the point of making it bleed to keep from snapping at them. If only they knew how much he’d help them on this journey.
    “Wait! Wait!”
    You stop your pony first, turning him slightly to look over at the running hobbit who comes up behind all of you.
    “I signed it!”
    Balin takes the contract as you grin widely at your friend.
    “I’m so glad you made it, Bilbo!”
    He gives you an out of breath smile as Balin says, “Everything appears to be in order. Welcome, Master Baggins, to the company of Thorin Oakenshield.”
    You cheer along with the other dwarves, though Thorin could be less impressed.
    “Give him a pony.”
    “No, no, no, no that-that won’t be necessary, thank you, but I-I’m sure I can keep up on foot. I-I-I’ve done my fair share of walking holidays, you know. I even got as far as Frogmorton once-WAGH!”
    He’s cut off by being lifted onto a pony. You slow Amicus down to walk beside him.
    “I really am glad you decided to come.”
    He looks at the reigns almost like they’d hurt him. He looks even more uncomfortable when his pony tosses its head. “Well…I couldn’t very well leave you travel with all of them on your own. N-not that you could not handle it!”
    You laugh softly. “Thanks, I appreciate that someone thinks I can do this.”
    “Come on, Nori, pay up. Go on,” Oin calls before Nori tosses him a sack of money, followed by the other dwarves exchanging money.
    “What’s that about?” Bilbo asks.
    Gandalf pulls up with you both. “Oh, they took wagers on whether or not you’d turn up. Most of them bet that you wouldn’t.”
    “What did you both think?”
    Gandalf hums as you smirk, turning in the saddle to look at the two princes.
    “Guys!”
    You catch the two packs of money thrown at you and hand one to Bilbo. “Never doubted you, Master Baggins.”
    “Neither did I,” Gandalf smiles.
    “Oh, and, Bilbo?”
    He hums and looks at you as you hold out his favorite handkerchief.
    “Just in case.”
