Alright well at least Tim is still there. Shibby.
1. The Fort Pinta race music is not conducive to racing. AT ALL imo. Too mellow
2. the new race has all new music and thats fine. It took me 5 tries to get to the second marker cause WTF
3. The older updated race - same thing the music is too mellow to be exciting race music but I liked the old jaunty beach tune
4. i miss the old jaunty beach tune :C
Do they still play it at the Pony Race?

Finally poked the other guided tours and the ‘if you didn’t remember Tim’s beach party this year, you must have had too much to drink’ part was a bit YIKES. They could’ve made it ‘but it wasn’t on this year after some complaints about his shibby smoothies’.
So yes cancel that npc

Completely Harmless Ch. 45
Completely Harmless An SSO SilverGlade Re-imagining Story (Or Fix it Fan Salt fic) By Ginny O.
When Lily and her friends wanted to buy horses and were directed to the Silverglade Manor and its myriad of problems, they didn’t expect to start a revolution. They were just a bunch a stable girls. Completely harmless. Right?

Chapter Forty-Five She sells sea shells by the ... river shore?
Lily tried to regain control of the meeting. “Pauline, where do we stand on the decorations?”
“Okay, here is the ideas I’ve had with everyone talking. Okay, we take flower wreathes and put them on the lamps and then wrap them with more flowers like the ones in the wreathes and our artificial palm leaves, and the sea shell garlands and sea shell lights. Then, if you have an arm to hang things off of, put a paper lantern with more flowers if you want. Um, don’t choose any flowers that are protected ladies. Then we can use the bubble garlands and the jelly fish lights like we did with the clouds and rainbow hearts from the trees. You can mix them up with the regular paper lanterns too if you want. Put the flower lights, sea shell garlands, and paper lanterns in all the stables. You can make the paper lanterns look like bubbles if you do it right.”
“Like with the clouds.”
“Exactly!”
“Then we can use the beach scene lanterns the exact same way we used the heart lanterns. But you can add the decorated anchors or ship wheels in with them. Or use the shell buckets instead. We put up the boats with the selfie walls, boats have nets decorated with shells, the round white circles have flowers and greenery like they’re a big wreathe. Put up some of the round lanterns, throw in an anchor and a wheel for props if they want. Um,” Pauline scrolled through the pictures. “We can create cabanas for the bar and the dance floor using frames, sheets, the flower lights, the artificial palm leaves, and inside have the jelly fish lanterns and more bubble garlands. The bar can have a net on it and be strewn with the decorated shea shells and the shea shell lights.” Pauline stopped at the giggles.
“Sea shells,” Lily said dryly.
“Sea shells,” Pauline repeated. “We can have more bucket, anchor, wheel decorations on that. And the pineapples, because Lily wants the pineapples. We can put more of the artificial palm leaves there too. Above the bar can go the jelly fish lights and the bubble garlands.” She paused. “And these lace sailboats are cute. We can have them as a prop too at the selfie wall. I mean, I think we’re actually set for decorations. I mean, I know it sounds more than what we had for Rainbow Week, but we’re mixing them in more interesting ways?”
“There are more bigger pieces.”
“And no balloons.”
“Right, I mean, we could use the lantern lights instead of balloons to fill up space or use the jelly fish lights and white lanterns to make little scenes.” Pauline shrugged. “We’ll have to experiment.”
“Food,” Lily moved on.
“Jorvik Crawfish Boil,” Pauline checked her notes. “Crabwiches, fruit salad in a carved watermelon bucket, Vegetable and mushroom skewers, popsicles, watermelon on a stick?”
“One sounds too many.”
Pauline crossed out the watermelons on a stick. It seemed redundant.
“I saw mermaid tail favors. We could put candy in them?”
“We should have cookies, like citrus ones.”
“That means they’d be orange.”
“Orange cookies.”
“I also saw plastic seashell favors, we could put something in those too.”
“I think we better put out some things like pretzels and Cheetos for people like Alex,” Lily said.
“Okay, now we need some drinks because I think we’ve covered food pretty well. And I mean, we can all buy snacks to put in the buckets. That’s not difficult.”
“Pretzels, popcorn, Cheetos, and crisps.”
“Wait, can we really have a bonfire without s’mores, sausages, and potatoes?”
“Yeah, and bread for the sausages or to eat with the crawfish.”
“Cheese, we might need cheese.”
Lily rubbed her forehead. “Fine. But we’ll have to figure out how to split it out. Drinks.”
“I make some really chillax awesome drinks.” Tim spoke up. The first time he’d spoken up in a while. Maybe he was overwhelmed with the eager teenage girls. Or maybe he didn’t care that much about the food or the decorations.
Lily turned her head. “Yeah, I think we might want to test your drinks first.”
“Shibby!”
“Why don’t you tell us the ingredients?” One of the girls asked sweetly.
Tim rattled off his ingredients. They included kidney beans. Kelp. Corn water. Fermented potato juice.
Lily held up a hand. “Fermented potato juice is vodka and corn water is basically moonshine. Are you trying kill us and get us drunk?”
“You don’t think people will like them.”
“I think maybe we should stick to things like banana and strawberry smoothies. Orange juice. And grape and seltzer punch.”
“Apple juice. Watermelon and blueberry spritzers.”
Tim slumped in his seat.
“Those will bring the tourists back for more.” Lily patted his arm.
He sighed. “They sound boring to me.”
“We can try to make them exciting. Package them in fun ways! Mermaid, err, okay without lemons this is not as easy as you’d think.”
“Grape comes in clear.”
“Ohhh, that works. Look we did this at home, just color up some different ice cubes, put edible rainbow glitter around the edge of the glass. Put it in some grape juice with soda if you want, and let the ice cubes melt. Mermaid Cocktail. Or as it was described early grape and seltzer punch.”
“Mock up a white grape sangria too, strawberries, blueberries, apple or orange slices in white grape juice, apple juice, and soda.”
“They can be fun, we promise,” Lily patted his arm again.
Tim sighed. “All right, I’ll have to trust you.”
“Put the orange and soda in hurricane glasses, drizzle strawberry juice into it, garnish in a fun way, sunset hurricane drink.”
“See,” Lily smiled at him.
Tim didn’t look convinced.
“Watermelon and grape go with a lot of things. And we can get you the cucumbers too.”
“Okay, I think we’re good to go.”
“We’ll come up with a recipe list.”
“All right, then we’re doing the different wreathes at the different parties,” Lily said. “Let them have the sand souvenirs. We can do necklace garlands and bracelets to I guess for the luau theme.”
“And hide decorated Conch Shells, because they’re big, and colorful,” Pauline said. “Like, I think these are plastic or vinyl. I hope they are. Real conch shells might be too expensive.”
“Okay,” Lily nodded. “Hedgehogs, you’re the source of the crawfish for the crawfish boil. I’m leaving that to you.”
Riley groaned.
“I know you’d rather have the mermaid favors. Kelsey that sounds like something Madison would enjoy doing.”
“She would. So, we’ll take it.”
“You’re going to have to make a lot of them so, yeah.” Lily wrinkled her nose. She didn’t feel bad about giving that to them and only that. “Bulldogz, I know how you feel about Jamie cooking.”
“Someone is trying to hire her for the Midsummer Feast and thank goodness she’s easily distracted.”
“So, you can have the shell party favors.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
Josefina spoke up. “We’re the source of the strawberries and the blueberries. Do you want us on drinks or on the fruit salad?”
“We’re going to have to buy watermelons in bulk from the food stalls.”
“Okay, question,” Lily put her chin on her hand. “Who among is a competent melon or pumpkin carver? Because they should be the ones doing the fruit salad. I mean, I don’t think the carved bucket idea was a plain bucket?”
The girls got on their phones and started texting people in their clubs.
Loretta shook her head. “None of mine.”
“Loretta, since you have the Midsummer Festival grounds in your area, are you going to do a beach party too?” Lily asked, genuinely curious.
Tan leapt in. “Of course we are, and we’ll decorate those Dark Core containers and chase off the goons if we have to.”
Loretta made a face. “They’ve been stealing. Can you believe it?”
“You don’t say.” Lily’s voice was bland. “Do you have any records of it?” Lily asked. She wasn’t at all surprised that a company with a name like Dark Core hired a thief.
Tan tossed her head. “I recorded everything.”
“Could you send it to Linda?” Lily asked slowly and raised her brow.
“Linda? Why would she want to know? I mean, she’s one of those weird druid riders,” Tan flicked her wrist.
“Because the Baroness will want to know,” Lily said. Frustrated she had to spell it out. “And Linda is her personal assistant and monitors her emails.”
“Oh, in that case, sure,” Tan said and dug out her phone. “As long as the Bobcats get the credit for catching them.”
“I’m sure Linda will tell her.”
Loretta sniffed. “I had them all file reports with Thomas.”
Lily nodded and texted that information to Linda as well.
Linda texted back she was going to ride over to Moorland to get it. She needed to see Alex anyways and she was probably at Maya’s.
“Or with Justin,” Lily murmured. Had Justin gotten up the nerve to say anything to Alex yet? Lily shook her head.
“I’ve got a carver,” Amelia said. “She sent pictures of her work. She can carve buckets and flowers.”
“Then you’re on for the fruit salad,” Lily said. “Do you mind another club coming and picking fruit for the cocktails and the popsicles?”
“Not at all.”
“Chipmunks,” Lily turned to them. “I know you’ve got the farmers, but you also have Harold.”
“Orange slice cookies. On it, Lady Captain Lily.” Kate saluted and then fluttered her hand and bowed.
Lily restrained a sigh. Of course Kate would choose both.
Pauline spoke up. “I think we should take the popsicles, Lady Captain President, we’ve got the big freezers in the Wine Cellar to keep them in.”
“Right, good plan.”
Pia spoke up. “I’ll take one of cocktail slots. That way I can work closely with Tim to make sure they’re fun and fizzy.”
Sonja spoke up. “We also have the other fruits in our forest. So, we’ll take a cocktail slot too. And help everyone harvest fruit.”
Ingrid was next to volunteer. “Ma Anna knows pastry, and croissants like those crabwiches are pastry. We’ll take the crabwiches and make different meat salads for them.”
“Fish salad, chicken salad, egg salad, ham salad,” Violet muttered.
Pauline checked her list, “That leaves the Pandas, the Bulls, and the Cats.”
“What do we have left?”
“Veggie skewers.” Pauline checked. “Snacks, bread and cheese, etc., and more cocktails.”
Loretta spoke quickly. “We can do the Snacks, bread, and cheese and so on. That’s all shopping. We are power shoppers. And none of the stinky stuff from Will’s Mill either.”
Ami wrinkled her nose. “We have a spa. We know cocktails. We’ll help out there and see what we can do with our grapes.”
“That leaves us the Veggie Skewers, and we can get most the produce from the Farmer’s Market and do assembly in Valedale.” Melissa nodded.
Lily spoke up. “This is going to sound crazy, but maybe we should have Courtney Summers do the Midsummer Feast. She’s a local and maybe she knows the local dishes.”
“Barney, Marley, and Carney can cook too,” Kate said. “Or, so says Barney. They have all the traditional recipes.”
“Kate, can you do the invitation thing? I’m sure the Baroness will refuse to invite her personally. But notice, she showed up last time.”
“I’ll invite all of them to do it. Make it a family affair. It’s a week and if we have too much food, well better than none at all.” Kate nodded.
“All right, well, here is hoping that the budget can take this,” Lily said.
“I bet we can get the farmers to donate lots of the supplies,” Kate waved her hands. “It’s for the Midsummer Festival after all.”
“That would be good.”
“We can approach them individually and get back to the group,” Amelie said with a nod.
Luciana spoke up. “I’d like to put a cabana up on the beach near the Dews Farm to be the gathering spot for everyone finishing up their charity events.”
“Splendid plan, Luciana,” Lily nodded. “We can set up one there, and a dance floor and it can be a celebration. At the end of the week, we’ll have all the money. Where are we keeping the money?”
“Silverglade Manor’s safe.”
“Right, we’ll have all the money and can present Maya with a big fake check. And I hope that will be enough to get them out of their debts and back on their farm.”
“They’re in foreclosure,” Loretta sighed. “Not bankruptcy. I had to go over it with her three times.”
“If they’re in foreclosure, that’s easier than bankruptcy to an extent. Though what did they do? Take a loan out on their farm?”
“From G.E.D. instead of a bank.” Loretta pushed her hair back behind her neck.
“Well, Ms. Drake is going to take the cash or else I’ll shove it where the sun don’t shine,” Lily muttered.
“Make it super public,” one of the girls said. “She can’t be a monster in front of a lot of people.”
“Ms. Drake?” Amelia asked.
Josefina snorted.
“It’s worth a try.”
“We’re going to have to do the same thing for the stables once it happens.” Ginny said.
“Have they tried anything but threats?”
“No. But the stable is in debt. To the bank, not to them, praise Aideen. But if the bank forecloses on the property, we’ll all be kicked out. Though your plans with the Friesians have been working. And Mr. Kemball has started on the Riding Arena. We’ve been having to keep him honest.”
“That must be a job and a half.”
“Like keeping James honest,” Pia said.
There was some nervous laughter.
“All right, Mares, Frogs, Squirrels, Terriers, and Kittens,” Lily said. “Get your areas in order. Your job is to focus on your section of South New Jorvik County and come enjoy the Midsummer Beach Party when it’s on. If you have problems with G.E.D. or Dark Core, report to me or to Linda.”
Pauline interrupted. “Music, Lily. Music!”
“Well, Fort Pinta will have DJ Kai. And I know New Hillcrest will have Syntax.”
“We’ve got a pretty big beach with a lot of islands all picked out.”
“I think asking Mr. Wetton for thirteen acts again is a bit too soon. Plus, it would make Rainbow Week less special.”
“Radio the different music the DJs are doing.” One of the girls suggested. “Set up a transmitter. Jack it through that tower in the Grey Mountains that G.E.D. has set up and it should get the entire county. Or stream it online.”
“That’s devious, and I like it.” Lily grinned.
“They shouldn’t have an obnoxious radio tower that big up there anyways. Radio towers can be much more discreet. I mean, put one on the observatory and it won’t be a blight to the landscape.” There was a sniff.
Lily turned to Pauline. “Happy?”
“Syntax can hack the tower,” Ginny said.
“Yes, keep them hacking for the greater good.” Lily smirked.
Kate shouted. “Okay, pizza time!”
They were all hungry. And there were new people to meet. So, they had pizza and wings and loaded potatoes and talked to each other and Tim. Though they all agreed Tim was quite strange and was it college or something else?
They split up.
FOR THE ACCOMPANYING IMAGES PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE MY WATERMARK AND CONTACT INFORMATION. THANK YOU. I get it. Some of you might get excited and want to see this stuff in the game, especially the clothes, tack, and pets. However, the only way I want to see this in the game is if I get paid for it. If I see it in the game and I’m not paid for it, there will be hell to pay. You think I’m salty. I’d be angry. Personally, I’m not going to send this info to SSO. If you do, leave my contact information there! Don’t give them any excuses to steal.
Now, I’ll know you haven’t read this note if you leave me comments about how ‘salty’ I am about the game and if I hate it so much I should do something else. I am doing something else. It’s called Mystic Riders MMORPG Project. Mystic Riders however is a very baby phase game. You can check out our plans on the game dev blog. (Skills, Factions, Professions, Crafting, Mini-Games, 25+ horse breeds!) If you know anyone who would be interested and has money or contacts about game making, direct them to the blog.

I like the new Fort Pinta though I wish they’d kept some of the little fences around to separate the section with garden cause it looks like there are trees growing up out of a STONE FORTRESS and my brain can’t handle.
I like James little chill zone. A good place to find a star if you ask me..

Chapter Forty-Four A Midsummer Mess
Pia, Penny, Polly, and Lily rode to Silverglade.
They were tying up their horses at Steve’s Farm when Tim arrived.
“Whoa! Whoa! That’s the right word! Whoa!”
One of the Chipmunks grabbed the horse’s bridle. “You’ve got your feet tucked into his sides. So, you’re telling him to go!” she told Tim.
Tim quickly eased his feet out of the horses’ ribs. “Oops, sorry there. Not used to horses.”
The girl rolled her eyes.
Pia leaned over to Lily. “Who is that?”
“Tim Hooper, he’s from the Fort Pinta Beach Association and I hope he’s sober.”
Pia’s lips twitched. “That bad?”
“The worst so far.”
Pia burst into giggles.
Tim waved at her. “Cucumber, Lily. If I ever have to get on a horse again,” he said.
“I’ll take you back,” Pia offered. “I live in Fort Pinta.”
“Shibby!”
Pia pressed her lips together to repress giggles.
Kate and Sally jogged up. “I ordered some pizza and such for the meeting in case it goes long or anyone gets hungry,” Kate said.
“Let’s go then.”
They walked in a group together, the girls all introducing themselves to Tim.
“I’m not great with names, ladies, but Chillax, I’ll try to remember.”
There was a group of girls that Lily didn’t recognize once they got inside. But they rushed her to the head of the room and into the big chair. She gestured that Tim should sit beside her.
Tim pulled the chair in and looked around. “Shibby, I could get used to this.”
Lily didn’t want to know. She called the meeting to order. “Ladies, and ladies, and gentleman, we’re here to discuss the Midsummer Festival and now County Wide Beach Party or as I’ve smashed together, the Midsummer Beach Party. This is Tim Hooper. He’s with the Fort Pinta Beach Association and can tell us all about what happens at Fort Pinta so we can replicate it across the county if necessary.”
They all clapped.
Tim got up and bowed to them. “Happy than a pig in a blanket to be here ladies.”
“And I see we have new faces, lots and lots of new faces.”
There were giggles.
“Ladies, please introduce yourselves.” Lily gestured at them.
One girl stood up. She waved. “Hi, I’m Fiona.”
“And I’m Henriette,” another said next to her.
“And we’re the Firfall Knight Mares!” They said together. “At your service.”
“Oh yeah!” One girl shouted.
“Awesome!”
There was laughter.
Fiona and Henriette sat.
Two more girls stood up. “I’m Jane.”
“And I’m Vanessa.”
“And we’re the Castle Marchenghast Parading Terriers.” Jane pounded her chest with her fist. “At your service, Lily.”
They sat.
There was more laughter as they got the pun.
Two more girls got up.
“I’m Daisy,” one said and she had a daisy crown so that was easy to remember.
“And I’m Waltzin’ Matilda,” the other grinned.
“We’re the Goldcroft Crofter Kittens,” Daisy said with a little flourish of her hand near her forehead. “At your service, Lady Lily.”
“Okay, that’s cute,” one girl said.
“I’m good with cute,” Daisy grinned and sat. She tugged Matilda down with her.
The next two stood up. “I’m Yvonne.”
“And I’m Naomi,” the other said.
“We are the Fairhaven Ghost Frogs.”
“Ghost seemed cooler than glass or pond and tree was taken.”
“That’d be us,” two more girls stood. “We’re the Aspendell Tree Squirrels. I’m Ruth.”
“And I’m Valerie.”
“At your service,” All four girls said together and bowed slightly.
Lily waved her hands. “Welcome, welcome!”
The four girls sat.
“Before we go any further, new Clubs, how are your areas?”
“Out of control,” Yvonne said.
“Would you be able to be ready in time for Midsummer Beach Party?”
“Only if we were doing it at Eventide,” one said with a shrug. “But even Eventide is in a mess. Something about the Dark Core Oil Rigs off the coast. You can see them with binoculars if you go up high near the coast and look North or South.”
“Oil rigs off the coast,” Lily said and texted the information to Linda. “That’s good to know. We’ll definitely want to get some survellience on them. Um, have you been briefed?”
“Not by Loretta,” Fiona said. “However, Luciana has been a fountain of information.”
The other girls nodded. “We’ve gotten the information mostly from Riley.”
“Riley, can you find out if you can see the oil rig from Cape West?”
“I’ll go up to the Smuggler’s Cave and give it a look see,” Riley said.
“Melissa, does your amateur photographer have a way to get that zoom lens back.”
“Can do,” Melissa said. “I’ll send her your way, Riley.”
“All right, then, if your areas are that out of control, then we’ll hold off on hosting any celebrations with you until Happy Horse Week. Is that okay with everyone?”
There were nods all around.
“Excellent, motion passed.”
“Make it so!”
“Okay, am I Captain Lily or Lady Lily?” Lily looked around. “Choose one and stick to it.”
There was more laughter.
“All right, Tim, you’re up. Please tell us about the Fort Pinta Beach party.”
“Okay, it’s totally cool, like the type of cool that is before you knew cool was cool, like you ladies.” Tim said. He moved his hands around. “So, I set up this sweet bar on the beach and serve refreshing beverages to all the tourists. We have a super tall tree dance floor and DJ Kai comes and spins her tunes. Because she is so sharp you don’t even feel it. There’s this awesome beach race. And we sell beach balls and have towels handy for all the party goers.”
“So, basically, a big dance party with beverages,” Lily said. “I think we can handle that.”
“There’s the Beach Café down there too.” Pia said. “I don’t know if they do anything special.”
“Well, they should,” Lily murmured.
“And Kyle Summerbreeze brings her paper lanterns to light up. Completely organic and nature safe.”
“Right. Loretta, what about the Midsummer Festival then in Moorland.”
“Well, there’s a big feast and they set up the Maypole and do a bonfire. You can do the frog dance. It’s not entirely cool as the beach party. The Jorvik Rangers take care of most of it. They put up the stage and everything. There’s the dreaming tent too. We make flower wreathes.”
“Like the Bulls did for their craft during Rainbow Week.”
Loretta pushed her hair back and nodded, her Rainbow Week charm bracelet dangled from her wrist along with a couple other beaded ones from the other stables.
“I don’t want to take away from the specialness of the Midsummer Festival in Moorland, but err, beach parties tend to have bonfires too.” Lily leaned back. “And my biggest question is I guess, what type of beach party are we having?”
“Oh, oh, you mean, like is it a tiki party, or a luau, or a boating party, or a mermaid party, or a pirate party?” Riley bounced up and down in her chair.
“Um, Riley, you okay?”
“I’ve been researching this stuff to try and give Cape West an identity.” Riley widened her eyes. “I’ve been thinking since we have the smugglers, we can do something with pirates and mermaids. It could be so much fun. And the Purple Pony has these perfect pirate and mermaid outfits. It’s getting Mayor Klaus and the town to go along with it that’s been the tricky part. I mean, tourists would love it.”
“Okay, um, but, yes, what she said, we need to choose a theme for this party,” Lily bit her lip. “I want it to be universal like Rainbow Week was so the entire county looks cohesive. But if Cape West can agree to get their pirate and mermaid theme off the ground, they’ll be given an exception as it’s their identity. Does everyone have access to a beach?”
The girls looked around and laughed. “I think most of us have access to a beach one way or another.”
Amelia nodded. “We have a beach out by Wolf Meadow. There’s a good flat spot too for a party area and then we have the beach right there. It’s not near the stables.”
“We don’t have to feature the stables 100% of the time,” Lily said.
Ingrid spoke up. “We were going to use the sandpit and add some kitty pools. We’re making a better enclosure for Andy’s sheep nearer to that farm he wants to buy when he’s older.”
“They can’t eat sand.” Violet rolled her eyes.
“That’s an awesome idea,” Lily grinned at them. “Like, it’s a really big space too.”
“Wolves come after the sheep because they’re easy eating. We’re going to get him a sheep dog and help him with patrols at night. Polka has a sibling named Reggae.” Ingrid said. “So, that will hopefully keep the wolves away from the sheep and the chickens. And with Mr. Kemball out of the farm where he was squatting illegally, Andy can start saving.”
“Excellent,” Lily let it roll off her tongue. “So, um, any theme ideas.” She twisted. “What do you use for decorations?”
“I’ve got tiki torches and those ball paper lanterns,” Tim said. “And some flower lights for the dance floor.”
“I did go to the decoration store,” Lily said. “And there was a lot of stuff but, we need a direction.”
“That’s not tacky, tacky,” Tan said.
“Yeah,” one of the others murmured. “Tiki beach stuff can go south as fast as rainbow stuff can.”
“Well, what angle should we attack this from?” Lily asked. “Like, surf party?”
“I think the only one who surfs is Holly Hightower.” Cathy said.
Kelsey groaned. “And that’s when Madison gets in the most trouble, when she’s off surfing.”
“Not that Erik knows how to gut a fish without hurting himself.”
“Um,” Lily looked between them. “What are they doing on South Hoof again?”
“Well, Hugh needed a place to go and Erik’s parents are getting up in years.” Kelsey rubbed her forehead. “We, we want to recruit to make more of a settlement that Erik can, I don’t know, be on the town board as treasurer or president instead of trying to be a fisherman and farmer. And Holly can give surfing lessons. Horse Ranch Rescue and Farm with a fishery and surfing lessons, plus you know riding lessons with us and meeting the wild Welsh horses. There’s room. We just need some,” she paused.
Cathy filled it in. “Crazy volunteers?”
“Jonas fishes and gets into trouble. Sigrid runs the lighthouse and misses everything.” Kelsey waved a hand. “It’s a mess.”
“So, no surfing theme.” Lily said deleting pictures off her phone. “Tiki?”
“Ew, nooo,” many of the girls groaned.
“Tacky!”
Lily grinned. “Okay no tiki totems then either. Though, I think that’s more appropriative than I would have liked. No flip flop decorations because ew. Um, okay Riley is doing pirates and mermaids. I think pirates could be too.”
“Flamboyant?”
“Don’t really make sense,” Lily said. “I mean, pirate parties are definitely theme parties. But I mean, mermaids sort of are the same,” she tilted her head.
“But mermaids come up on beaches and we could do fun things with it,” one girl pointed out.
“And they don’t have to be tacky if we do it right.”
“Plus, costumes, Purple Pony,” said a third.
“But I don’t think Mermaid is really screaming Midsummer Beach Party,” Lily said.
“So, let’s make it an accent instead of the theme. Like, you go to the beach parties and there are mermaids there or something.” One girl waved her hand.
“This leaves something like nautical, more generic beach things, and under the sea?” Lily set her phone down. “Mostly, um, Jorvik isn’t tropical. So, any palm trees are going to be fake.”
“And look really bad,” Loretta said.
“Right, they’ve got some outside the café and they’re horrible,” Pia nodded. “I mean, it’s their café and sure, it’s a beach, and you do you.”
“But not something you would have chosen.” Lily nodded.
“Why can’t we just try to make it elegant,” Loretta tucked her hair behind her ear. “More like a Cabana party. And we can save Jorvik Flag colors for Happy Horse Week.”
Tan frowned. “That won’t make the Jorvik Rangers happy.”
“Who is actually supplying the decorations? Us? Or Them? They can deal with it.” Loretta dismissed the concern with a flick of her fingers. “We have those photo booth things. We can use those for reference. I mean, traditional dress comes in all colors, why not the decorations.”
“Fishing is one of Jorvik’s biggest occupations,” Pauline said.
“That is unless Dark Core wrecks the waters with their rigs.” Riley crossed her arms.
“We should celebrate that,” Pauline bit her lip. She grabbed Lily’s phone. “Stop flipping through that, I can see the pictures and you’re making me nervous. Okay, Lily has pictures, phones out.”
Lily covered her face. “I was just looking.”
Pauline set up the group chat properly and uploaded all the pictures. “Tim, how attached are you to your tiki torches? Because tiki torches, teenagers, not safe.”
“I can let them go,” Tim shrugged. “You’ll have to come up with something really tall tree in exchange though.”
“I’m thinking, turn your dance area into a cabana,” Pauline handed Lily her phone back and nudged her with her arm.
Lily angled the phone so Tim could see it.
“Well, that’s real shibby.”
“More luau, less, tiki,” one girl said.
“So, leis along with our flower crowns?”
“Well, don’t hula dancers wear flower crowns and bracelets?”
“Uh, yeah.”
Lily put her phone down and waved her hand. “So, mermaid, nautical, luau? But elegant? You’ve lost me.”
“Well, they’re shells but they’re decorated shells.”
“And you’ve got gold and green artificial palm leaves. Gold is tacky by itself but if we mix it with the green, it’s suddenly elegant.”
“Right, like, pretend the mermaids and the sailors are getting together to have a luau where they’re making peace.”
“You sound like Madison.”
“She’s infecting me,” Cathy grabbed her heart and slid off her chair. “Help.” She faked a gasp and hit the ground.
No one moved.
“No one. No one at all,” Lily said blandly.
They shrugged.
Cathy moaned and ‘died.’
“Okay then, here rests Cathy,” Lily started, “may she rest in peace.”
Cathy got back into her chair. “Hey!”
The girls burst into laughter.
Lily let them settle down.
“Okay, here’s an idea,” one of the girl’s said. “We each have these cabana dance floors and a bar at our parties.”
“We need to have bonfires because it’s Midsummer.”
“Right,” another girl said.
“And I think each club should contribute one type of food or drink to the bar.”
“That could be good. That way the menus are all the same. And no one is scrambling for food or drink.”
“The cabanas and the lanterns can be in our club colors.”
“Use nets.”
“Find worn out boats and put them in selfie wall areas drape them with decorated nets and then we can put the flowers or something on the circle beside it.”
“Throw nets onto the tables with sea shells.”
“Decorated sea shells.”
“Oh, we can hide seashells with flowers all over the county. We didn’t have a turn in for this one right? But make the flowers bright ones so they can be seen instead of greenery.”
“And use lanterns again like Rainbow Week, instead of hearts, they’re beach themed.”
“And like at every party they can collect different sand as souvenirs.”
“Do a different set of flower wreathes from flowers in the area.”
“Or sea shells,” Riley said.
“Or sea shells,” the other agreed.
“Buckets, decorate buckets and they can be used for snacks or fill them with more decorated shells.”
“Like fill them mostly with sand first for weight and put shells on top.”
“Jelly fish lights and bubble garlands to go over the bar.”
“Or inside the Cabana. With the flowers and other lights being outside.”
“Get the fancy tablecloths for the bar area.”
“I liked the pineapple decorations,” Lily said. “They come in different colors. Even though Jorvik doesn’t have pineapples.”
“Right, mostly Jorvik has oranges and strawberries for summer themed fruit.”
“Blueberries.”
“Lingon berries and those Jorvik Wild berries.”
“Watermelon,” one girl said. “Sort of.”
“Oh, oh, have you seen carved watermelon buckets. We can make carved watermelon buckets  like sand buckets and like put fruit salads in them.”
“There are watermelon popsicles too. Like instead of kiwi, why not green apple?”
“Oh, what a wasted thing for Rainbow Week, rainbow popsicles.”
“Eh, popsicles are definitely more summery?”
“Watermelon on a popsicle stick is popular.”
“Grapes. We have lots and lots of grapes.”
“You think we should do shaved ice again?”
“We had to rent the machine,” Kelsey said. “Popsicles are easier to make in advance.”
“Oh, look at these cute croissant sandwiches shaped like crabs.”
“Are we going to put any veggies into this?”
“We probably should.”
“We’re going to have a fruit salad in watermelon bowls. So, fruit skewers could be overboard.”
“Okay, what about grilled veggie skewers then. I mean, corn, tomatoes, peppers, onions.”
“Doesn’t Jasper grow squashes other than pumpkin?”
“He does.”
“Mushrooms go well with skewers,” another girl said.
“So does shrimp.”
“We’ve got crayfish, not shrimp.”
“Even better!”
“Why?”
Pauline spoke up. “Crayfish boil; water, beer, dill flowers, lots of salt, sugar, bring to a boil and then you have to let them sit overnight to be the best flavor.”
“Usually we do it in August, but there’s so much else going on around then, this is a beach party.” Tyra waved her hands.
“Okay, let’s slow down,” Lily said.

Completely Harmless Ch. 43
Right?

Chapter Forty-Three The Harp.... Lyre of Aideen. Shibby?
Linda woke Lily early. Long before the sun was up. “Come on, we have to go.” She whispered and shoved cocoa and toast into Lily’s hands. Lily groaned. It’d been a late night. Didn’t Linda remember that?
Lily’s horse whuffed and huffed as she got him ready. She patted his nose. “I’m sorry, boy. It has to be done.”
He nuzzled her in understanding. She gave him an extra carrot for putting up with this nonsense.
She and Linda rode to Firgrove. The hooves of their horses clopping dully in the early morning air. They didn’t go into the village proper, which was impossible since the gates were closed for the night still. Instead, they turned up a path that went towards a mountain pass. But they didn’t stay on the zig zagging track for long. Instead, Linda urged Meteor past a large pine tree and onto the grass where there was no path. But if Lily tilted her head and squinted her eye, she could see that there was a flat section that could be a path. No one used it, so it wasn’t worn down.
They had to turn around another copse of firs and continued upwards. There was a pass and around them in large piles were sleeping wolves. The horses lifted their hooves and gently set them back down very carefully. They turned into a shallow basin and inside was the primeval tree that Lily had seen during the trail ride.
“Almost there,” Linda whispered.
Lily reached up to try and touch one of the lights. It slipped through her fingers, brighter in the darkness of the early morning.
Another path led over the bowl again though it wasn’t easy to get over it. They had to walk the horses. And a path led out to a jut in the mountain that overlooked the Silversong River and the Hollow Woods. In the distance, the castle was nothing but a big blue shadow like the mountains.
They stood on the edge of the jut.
“This faces west,” Lily hissed.
“She rode from West to East,” Linda murmured.
“Talk about an opposite,” Lily mumbled.
“Shhh,” Linda gestured.
The sun broke over the mountain behind them and touched the mountains in the distance.
Lily strained her ears and almost didn’t hear it. She hit record on her phone just in case. But she shut her eyes to listen more over the sounds of the wind, the sounds of the early morning birds, as if they were delivered directly to her ears and no one else’s, the sound of harp notes. She hummed along as the same refrain repeated over and over.
The notes died.
Lily opened her eyes to find Linda staring at her.
“Perfect pitch,” Lily explained and turned her phone off. “Maybe it got my humming. Did you hear it?”
“Yes, it was beautiful.”
“The beat seems off though,” Lily murmured. She shrugged. They’d have to figure it out later. Her stomach growled.
So did Meteor’s.
Linda laughed. “By the time we get down Ma Anna’s shop should be open.”
“Good, we can have something more than toast!” Lily half-smiled. “Isn’t that right, Meteor?”
Meteor nodded rapidly in agreement.
They turned off going back down. Lily took a picture of the tree as they did.
Ma Anna’s pastry shop was open and they both got thick slices of Zebra Cake and more Cocoa to wash it down. By the time they were done with that, the transports were up and running so they were able to take a ride to Fort Pinta and hop a bus to Jorvik City.
“Um, can we stop at the party supply store before the museum,” Lily asked Linda with a wince. “Rainbow Week almost ended up a pastel pink disaster thanks to Loretta.”
Linda widened her eyes. “You guys pulled out all the stops. I don’t even want to know where you got the money.”
“Ask us no questions and we’ll tell you no lies,” Lily intoned. “I think you underestimate how much we were able to toss into a pot to get it going. Especially after we covered the Bulldogz share. The event paid for itself and gave us a kitty for this one.”
Linda blinked. “You all tossed money into a single pot.”
“Yeah, part of Club dues. You are paying us to help around the stable and the gardens. So, we take part of that money and put into the Club pot as dues. Then out of those dues we can contribute towards oh, group trail rides, or doing events like Rainbow Week.” Lily shrugged. “We haven’t had a lot of time to do trail rides or train the horses because we’ve been so busy.”
“Well, once we get things settled down, hopefully after the Midsummer, what is it you’re calling it, Midsummer Beach Party?”
“Right, it’s the Midsummer Festival over in Moorland, and the Fort Pinta Beach Party. But we’re going to expand it to make the Beach Party county wide and let Moorland keep the Midsummer aspects of it.”
“Have you talked to Tim about this?”
“Tim?”
“Tim Hooper, he runs the Beach Party as part of the Fort Beach Association.”
“Oh, him, I forgot about him.” Lily rubbed her forehead. “We were going to talk to him about Rainbow Week but then it slipped our minds. No. I haven’t talked to him.”
“He lives here in Jorvik City.”
“And he runs the Fort Pinta Beach Party because why?”
Linda shrugged.
Lily rolled her eyes. “Well, store first so I can see what’s available in ‘beach’ themes. Then I guess we can pound down his door to invite him to this afternoon’s meeting and then the museum. If it’s not too much of a bother.”
“You’re not a bother, Lily.” Linda grinned. “This is exciting. I’ll be documenting it for Jorvikgram.”
Lily groaned.
“You’re going to be a celebrity.”
The store had plenty of decoration types and Linda got plenty of pictures, even insisting that Lily pose among some flowers. “It’s trending.”
Lily did it to make Linda happy. She got her own pictures of the decorations that might fit the ‘beach’ theme.
They found a place to have a snack, and then went and knocked on Tim Hooper’s door. (Phone directories were wonderful things.)
Tim ran his hand through his long hair as he yanked it open. “Yes?”
It was obvious he was not expecting company, and college age.
“Tim Hooper?” Lily asked, just to make sure.
He grinned. “Shibby, that’s me.”
“Right,” Lily breathed. “Um, Tim, so, I’m Lily and I run a riding club in South New Jorvik County and the presidents of the other riding clubs and I are having a meeting this afternoon about the Midsummer Beach Party. As you’re part of the Fort Pinta Beach Association and do the Beach Party there. We’d like to invite you to this afternoon’s planning session.”
“Swag as, that sounds dope,” Tim said. “I’ll be there.”
“Right, the Silverglade Council House. Um be there, or be square?” Lily said tentatively.
“You’re a total tall tree, I’ll be there. Shibby!”
Lily nodded, eyes wide and a smile pasted on her face. “See you then.” She turned around and gave Linda the widest eyes she could. What the hell was Tim on?
Linda shrugged.
The door closed and Lily glanced over her shoulder. Tim was back inside.
“Okay, what drugs is he on? Is this just another Jorvik thing?”
“Tim is in a class of his own.”
“Just wow,” Lily breathed. “Wow.”
Linda giggled and they got on the tram to go to the Museum.
The Museum coordinator wasn’t precisely convinced that it was for a good cause. Linda had to bring up the Baroness’ name several times for him to let them take the harp out of storage. They had to find it among the boxes and medieval saddles and pottery. It had its own specially shaped case. He admonished that it was fragile.
Lily double checked the case over and satisfied it was sturdy, she saluted the museum coordinator with it. “We’ll take good care of it.”
But by the time they got to the bus, Lily was fuming.
Linda gave her an odd look.
“This isn’t a harp, it’s a lyre,” Lily hissed at her.
“It’s a type of harp.”
Lily sighed. “Well, you can’t keep the strings taut all the time. It will warp it. And gut strings depend on tension and thickness to make different sounds.”
Linda stared blankly at her.
Lily muttered under her breath. “And it doesn’t have any pins. This is going to have to be done string by string, by hand, presuming the gut is any good at all.”
Linda blinked.
“This is precisely why I never went into music,” Lily continued to mutter. “All the tuning and retuning.”
Linda ventured a question. “You were into music.”
“I was,” Lily said. “Music and travel most of the time don’t mix when you’re learning.”
Linda nodded not at all understanding.
“Too many teachers. Too many different styles of teaching. It gets too frustrating.” Lily wrapped her arm around the case.
“So, you’ve played string instruments.”
“Guitar, mandolin, um, viola, the idea is the same but in modern instruments, the length of the string also determines the tone of the note.”
“Lisa plays a guitar.”
“It’s not a one to one curve you know,” Lily said. “I’m going to have to play with it and,” she shrugged. “The Weeping Widow might not get her waking up right away.”
“Once you have the hang of it, and I know you’ll get the hang of it. We’ll be able to help the Weeping Widow and she can help us find out more about Lisa and Anne.” Linda nodded her head. “I have faith in you, Lily.”
“Any reason she wants me to do it, and not you. You’re the Soul Rider.”
“I don’t know. Healing is more Lisa’s thing. She was the first Soul Rider to awaken in this generation and bond to her horse.”
“Starshine. How is he doing?”
“Better. He misses Lisa. He’s annoyed that Elizabeth doesn’t want to believe him. I think he’s going to kick down her door.”
“I’d um, pay to see that.”
“Maybe Melissa will catch it on video,” Linda grinned.
“So, who awakened next?”
“I did,” Linda said. “The Moon circle is always second according to my reading. While the Stars have the power to Heal, the Moon has the power to see the past and the present. You don’t need still waters, but the mirror fountain at the garden will help. My visions have been clouded of late. I wonder if it’s Garnok interfering.”
“Or the future isn’t as set as they’d like you to believe. We all make choices. Our choices make us who we are and the intent of those choices matter too.”
Linda nodded. “That’s wise.”
“Harry Potter.”
Linda laughed. “You and your group have all this knowledge from the oddest places.”
“Okay, so Lightning is what? Defense.”
“Defense and offense. Alex has an ability called Soul Strike and she can make wards and shields.”
“And then Anne can travel to and from Pandoria, I think that’s what Alex said.”
“Yes, she can open and close the gates of Pandoria. We all manipulate Pandoria’s energy in different ways you see and for different purposes.”
“And too much Pandorian energy in the mundane world is bad.”
“It’s what changed the Jorvik Warmblood Sports and the Jorvik Starter Ponies to be what they are today.”
“I don’t think we’ve ever gotten really wild to see them.”
“They also can hide themselves if they want,” Linda said and sighed. “They don’t have to change to their true forms if they don’t want to do so. They only reveal themselves to those they trust most. It can take time to form that bond.”
The bus rumbled to a halt outside Fort Pinta.
“It is way past my lunch time,” Lily said.
Linda agreed. So, they made a bee line for the Fort Pinta café. Pia waved at them.
They both had lunch and Linda took a transport back to the winery taking the precious lyre with her with promises of research into the care and tuning of it for when Lily returned.
