And you thought dogs were the ones who had problems respecting personal space when it comes to food…
The evening meal was interesting:
Mage: Welcome to ‘Cooking With Mage’, where we watch humans burn unidentified things in boxes filled with fire!
Mage: After burning the food, the humans then place it between two pieces of bread to mask the burnt taste. Sometimes they add delicious lettuce. Humans have a strange custom of ruining lettuce by adding it to otherwise unpalatable foods.
Food tourist ^^
Treasure: Ooh… look what they’re eating! How strange!
Storm: That actually smells pretty good! Can I have a bite?

Storm: *head empty* ♪ ♫ ♪
Storm: ♫ Dust bath, dust bath… no thoughts… dust bath… ♫
Storm: This feels so good. Literally the best thing ever.
Treasure: Storm! What are you doing? Victor just groomed you!
Storm: ♫ Dust bath… ♫ Wait… what? Treasure, why are you running?
Treasure: To stop you from ruining all Victor’s hard work and messing up your coat. But I guess it’s already too late for that, isn’t it?
Storm: *happy* Yeah.
Treasure: You’re so dense.
Storm: I get that a lot. But like, I think the more important issue is, should you be running in your condition?
Treasure: *annoyed* I’m not allowed to jump and I can’t take Yuri for rides, and now I’m not allowed to just run around?
Storm: I never said you’re not allowed. I don’t make the rules. I’m just worried. I don’t want you to hurt yourself or our foal.
Treasure: You’re actually concerned about me?
Storm: Of course I’m concerned about you. Why would you think I wasn’t?
Treasure: I thought you only wanted to perpetuate your bloodline.
Storm. Yeah, I do want to do that. My awesome bloodline should definitely continue, and I want to continue it with you. I mean, look at me. I’m amazing, and I could have any mare I want, but I don’t want just any mare.
Treasure: So, you don’t want to sire Cookie’s foals?
Storm: Not unless I also want to be violently kicked unconscious, which I obviously don’t. Anyway, I thought about it, and Cookie isn’t my type.
Treasure: What’s your type?
Storm: Not the type who tries to hook up with random stallions at the Equestrian Center. Like, I’m into ladies with class and good breeding.
Treasure: I see.
Storm: Yeah, and I know I’m not smart, but I’m brave and I can protect you. You probably think I’m dumb and self-absorbed, but like… I don’t always think about myself. I think about you a lot, and the truth is, I might’ve kinda accidentally fallen in love with you.

Milk
Mage: Gimme da milk, human! I know you gots it!
Storm: Say please, Mage.
Mage: GIMME DA MILK PLEASE!!!
Victor: *laughing* To think we were worried about whether or not he’d take a bottle. It sounds like he’s screaming for it.
Yuri: Maybe it won’t be as difficult to get him used to people as we imagined.
Victor: Here you go, Mage. Is this what you want?
Mage: *happy mumbling*
Treasure: Do you think this is a good idea? It’s my job to feed him. I have plenty of milk for him, and I’m sure it’s better than whatever is in that bottle.
Storm: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's fine.
Treasure: It doesn't seem fine to me.
Storm: They want him to get used to them. Drinking from a bottle is how I first started learning to trust humans. They'll probably start putting a blanket on him soon, too. Y'know, so he won't freak out when somebody puts a saddle on him some day.
Treasure: I'm not sure I like them getting so close to him.
Storm: He doesn't seem to mind, and I don't think they're gonna hurt him. Anyway, it's normal, as far as I know. Like, didn't humans handle you when you were a foal?
Treasure: No. The humans didn't interact with me very much at all until I was nearly full-grown.
Storm: And you probably lost your mind the first time some idiot human threw a saddle onto your back, didn't you?
Treasure: *embarrassed* I did.
Storm: Well, Mage is lucky. He's gonna have the chance to ease into it. If he gets used to humans now, it'll make his life a lot easier in the future.
Treasure: It... doesn't seem so bad when you put it that way.
Mage: Nice human. You doin' a good job. I train you really good, and you give me da milk every day, 'kay?

The Goat
By the time the family got home, it was dark, but for some of the family members, the day was far from over. Victor was questioning his choice of a gift for Caroline...
He bought her a goat. The goat does not like Victor at all.
Victor: Hey! Where are you going? I thought you were supposed to be brave.
Storm: *scared* I'll... I'll be right back. I'm going to get help.
Fortunately, the goat likes Caroline, and she fell instantly in love with him.
Caroline: I'm going to call you Spot. Do you like that?
Spot: !!!
Caroline: We're going to be best friends!
Storm: Nooo! Small human! Get away from that creature! It's evil and dangerous!
Storm: Yes, that's it. Go inside where you'll be safe.
Storm: As for you, stay away from my human!
Spot: You do realize, both you and your annoying human are bigger than me.
Storm: Yes, well... that is not the point.
Spot: *amused* You're hilarious, horse.
Storm: *shudder* Don't come any closer.
Cookie: What's the matter, Storm? You're not afraid of a cute little goat, are you?
Storm: He's dangerous! He's going to hurt someone. Maybe he's even plotting world domination!
Cookie: Overreact much?
Storm: You didn't see what he did to my human!
Spot: I know where your stall is.
Storm: *screams*
Treasure: What's going on with Storm? Is he hiding?
Cookie: Yeah. He's afraid of goats.
Treasure: Ghosts? I don't blame him. I once heard a story about a haunted barn that was—
Cookie: No, goats. You know, small animals with horns?
Treasure: Oh! Goats! But, they're so cute, especially the one that's going to be living with us from now on. And he's so fashionable too. I mean, you can't go wrong with a spotted coat, can you? Of course, I may be a little biased...
Storm: *to himself* I can't believe they're out there eating and gossiping like nothing's going on, as if we don't have a deadly predator in our midst. I'm just going to stay here in my stall. I hope Victor locked the door.
Spot: *plots world domination*

It appears that foals age up at around 8 in-game days old.
The age-up animation was about what you’d expect; a little glitter, and a musical notification sound.
Mage aged up with a (pink) CC tail which it seems the creator unfortunately did not set to be disallowed for random, so I had to change that to a non-CC white tail, but otherwise, he aged up exactly how you see him in the next pictures.
Of course he aged up at night. 🤦🏽♀️ I’ll get better ones in daylight soon.
This is clearly the face of a creature with a highly-developed intellect ^^
He still likes to play in the water trough, and is unquestionably Storm’s offspring.

Horseplay
Storm: Morning, ladies. Are you ready for your daily dose of Storm handsomeness?
Cookie: Is he serious right now?
Treasure: I don’t think he’s capable of being serious.
Cookie: I’m going to bite him.
Storm: Hey now! Is that any way to treat an elite athlete and the future sire of your foals?
Treasure: Excuse me? Her foals?
Storm: Don’t worry. There’s plenty of me to go around. Besides, you already like me. I don’t have to work hard to win you over.
Treasure: Keep on like this, and I may change my mind.
Storm: Where are you going?
Cookie: Away from you.
Storm: You smell like apples. I love apples.
Cookie: Can you not do that, please?
Storm: Come on. You know you want me.
Cookie: Get away from me before I kick you!
Cookie: I honestly don't know what you see in him.
Treasure: He's kind of exotic, don't you think? I've never met anyone who hasn't spent their whole life in the country. He came in a horse trailer, from a town. How exciting is that?
Cookie: It'll take more than that to impress me. He's nothing but muscles and ego. Probably just like his human.
Treasure: At least his human has muscles. He’s probably an elite athlete too. Anyway, you have no room to criticize his human when your human is a foal. Imagine letting a foal control you.
Cookie: No one controls me! Besides, who cares about muscles? I'm interested in intelligence, which he obviously doesn't have.
Storm: Rude! Imagine turning me down like that. Me! A world-class athlete! Well, I’ll just go over here and work out by myself, and maybe some more appreciative mares will notice how strong and handsome I am.
Treasure: I thought you were going to work out.
Storm: I'm too depressed to work out. I thought everybody loved me. I mean, everybody should love me. How could they not?
Treasure: Has anyone ever told you that you're dramatic?
Storm: That's a compliment, right?
Treasure: No.
Storm: Excuse me while I sulk in my stall and contemplate the purpose of my life.

worth it
While Treasure was resting in her stall and being checked by the vet, it was Storm's turn to look after Mage. Storm found himself fascinated by literally everything about his son, from his short, spiky mane to his silver and white spotted coat to the way he wobbled as if he were walking on ice.
Storm let him explore tentatively around the stable area. They didn't move particularly far away from the stable, but Mage got scared when he realized he'd lost sight of his mother for a second.
Storm: It's okay. Look, she's right over there. She'd never leave you. She just needs a little break, that's all. She had a long day yesterday and she's probably still really tired.
Mage: *confused baby noises*
Storm: What was she doing? She was busy being strong and brave and amazing. That can be hard work sometimes, you know. But, you know what else? Hard work is never not worth it. I mean, you’re living proof of that.

New Arrival
Treasure was grateful that it didn't take much effort on her part for Yuri to realize something wasn't right.
Yuri quickly took all her fancy accessories off, and put her familiar, comfortable halter back on her. That made a big difference. The flower crown was pretty, but it had been starting to make her ears itch. Now that she'd felt the first nagging little pain in her belly and really understood what was happening, she was suddenly not in the mood to be tolerant of any unnecessary distractions like an itchy ear.
Treasure: I think it's time. We need to go home. It might be a while before the foal comes, but I don't want to experience any part of this out here in the open.
Yuri: Come on. Let's get you home and settled in your stall. It's going to be a long day for you, but don't worry. It'll be okay. I'll make sure you have everything you need.
It did indeed turn out to be a long day. Early morning dragged into late afternoon, and from Treasure's point of view, things just kept getting worse. She thought Yuri would be with her constantly, but he left at random intervals to do whatever it was that humans did inside their houses. He always came back again, but that was not the point. She was suffering and she hated being alone for even two seconds.
Storm was conspicuously absent, which she decided really didn't surprise her. Then again, maybe it was in his best interests not to be anywhere near her, as there seemed to be a direct correlation between her level of pain and her feelings toward Storm. The more it hurt, the more she felt she wanted to leave hoofprints on his forehead the next time she saw him.
Treasure: STORM!!! You did this to me! This is all your fault!
Yuri returned just in time. Treasure had reached a point where she was certain she wouldn't survive this ordeal, and she needed him to reassure her.
Yuri: You're doing brilliantly, Treasure. You're so strong, and you're such a brave girl. I don't think it'll be much longer. You'll get to see your beautiful baby soon.
Spot took a break from his daily session of rolling in trash to sneak in and offer some encouragement as well. Treasure never imagined that she'd welcome the presence of the stinky little goat, but she had to admit she was glad he was there. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
Just as the sun was beginning to set, Treasure gave birth to a handsome little colt.
Yuri: Treasure, you did it! Look at him. He's perfect.
Both Treasure and the colt were up and standing on wobbly legs, exhausted but proud, when Storm finally made his appearance with Cookie in tow.
Yuri: Storm, look at your baby. Isn't he cute? He has your eyes.
Storm: It... it's a boy?
Treasure: You took your time getting here.
Storm: Did you actually want me here?
Treasure: I did... but I didn't? I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said it like that. I'm glad you're here now.
Storm: It's okay. I deserved it. I should've been here. Besides, look what you just did. You can get away with saying whatever you want after accomplishing that, as far as I'm concerned.
Treasure: Thank you.
Storm: I should be thanking you. I mean, like... I'm really proud of you. And just look at our awesome boy. Storm Jr.
Treasure: No. We are absolutely not naming him that.
Storm: What? Why not?
Treasure: Because he's not just a copy of you. He's a combination of both of us, and he's his own unique horse. He deserves the best of everything in life, and that includes discovering who he is and being allowed to find his own way. How's he going to do that if he thinks he has to live up to your name?
Storm: Oh. I never thought of it like that. What are we going to name him, then?
Treasure: I'm too tired to think about that right now.
Storm: Maybe we can just let the humans name him. They gave us pretty great names, so I trust them.
Treasure: *nodding* Yes, I'm fine with that. I'm going to try to sleep for a while now. I'll bring our son out to meet everyone tomorrow.
Storm: I'm probably not gonna be able to sleep all night! I can hardly wait for tomorrow, so we can show him off.
Treasure: *amused* So you can show off, you mean?
Storm: Well, yeah. That too.
Treasure: Try not to stay awake all night. That'll really take the shine off all the strutting around you're going to be doing tomorrow.
Storm: Right. Gotta get my beauty sleep. Unlike you, 'cause you don't need sleep to make you beautiful. You're the most beautiful horse on the planet, and maybe in the whole universe. But like, you still need to sleep. You should definitely get as much rest as you can, and—
Treasure: Storm.
Storm: Uh... yeah?
Treasure: Good night.
For once, Storm managed to take the hint. Treasure loved him, but he could be a bit too much at times, and all she wanted right now was some peace and quiet. She wanted time to bond with her baby and recover some of her strength.
Tomorrow would be a fresh new day, in which she and her son could begin their adventures in the outside world together, but she wasn’t quite ready to share him with the world yet. Tonight, she wanted him all to herself, so she could admire him and revel in the miracle of him.
She’d already forgotten the worst of the pain, and somehow his presence felt more like magic and less like misery with each passing second.
That is your name, she thought. Magic.
She closed her eyes. She’d have to think of a way to communicate her son’s name to the humans, but that could wait until the morning.

Nothing brings out Victor’s competitiveness like a new sport.
He’s not usually competitive with Yuri, but then again, he’s naturally better than Yuri at most sports and doesn’t feel the need to rub it in. But, in this case, it seems Yuri and Treasure have the advantage, and Victor can’t resist rising to the challenge.
Storm is also competitive. He doesn’t want anyone to be better than him at anything, so he’s giving one hundred percent.
They actually did quite well. They may not be ready for an official competition yet, but I feel like it’ll only be a matter of time before these two athletes find their way to the Equestrian Center.

Blanket WIP
This is what I'm working on now, matching blankets for foals and adults. It's actually the same blanket, but it's enabled for all ages just like the saddle pads. I currently have 24 swatches of it. I might do some neon swatches, just because I've done neon swatches of the flower crowns and tail ribbons.
I'm probably going to do the English saddle pad and bridle in pastels and neon swatches on the weekend, too. I may or may not recolour the tail flower accessory. I'm not a huge fan of it, but there may be other people who want it. Drop a comment if you want the tail flowers.
Anyway...
Mage: Look, Mama! I gots da blanket jus' like Daddy!
