There have been periods in history where those living through that era may not have realised the impact of that time, however current events would come to be placed firmly in the chronicles of history. The significance is obvious in hindsight but obscured to those living through that period. The 'garden' is a metaphorical setting, where through her sculptural works the artist reflects on society and its current climate. “Siege 2, Can’t Stand, Can’t Kneel, and Can’t Breathe in this Whirlpool” c.2017, 22” x 30” Echoes the pained experiences of black males in America facing frequent acts of hostility and police brutality.
