He was literally pointing up at the mirrorball at looking up at it for like a solid 10 seconds after come closer

Don’t forget who you are it was so magical (also that turtle plushie behind him 🫠🫠)

Alright crazy things that happened (the ones I can currently recall and in now specific order):

-Nathan dropping his pick and Miles laughing at him

- Liam’s drum kit wasn’t fixed up correctly so his hi hat (I think) like turner 90 degrees and a stage hand had to rush and try and fix it during a song and before the next one miles just jammed out a bit and improvised to give the guy more time to properly fix it

-Miles pointing and looking up at the mirrorball for like solid 10 seconds after come closer

- seeing those chairs and music stands in the back knowing we’re gonna get strings

-after singing the last line of fluorescent adolescent “remember when you used to be a rascal” and then fucking pointing and staring at Miles who was standing to the left side of the stage (which also explains why Alex was suddenly so fond of the left side (also during I wanna be yours I sometimes had to play find Alex cause he was just casually chilling at the very edge of the left stage side like mate at this point just walk down to him )instead of right as usual to jam with Jamie right where the stairs led up to the stage so he was the first one to greet the guys once they went off before the encore and after the show(to smother Alex in a big hug))and watched their set and asking “do you remember?” Before himself answering like 2 seconds latter with “I remember” but like in such a small sad voice that it nearly broke me

Like here’s the entire performance you can hear and see it at 3:13 (I’ve only got the little I remember snippet cause I was screaming my head off)

- when Alex said “let’s hear it for Miles Kane” (some say he said wonderful after we screamed our throat raw) somewhere three quarters through the set we all exploded before realizing he was just thanking him for opening and then played fluorescent adolescent where at the end (check point above) he asked miles if he remembered when he used to be a rascal (and like the fact that Miles was in the band the rascal and Alex wrote Fluorescent with his ex Johanna Bennett around the time when him and Miles started becoming close friends)

- during body paint not Alex singing “and if you’re thinking of me I’m probably thinking of you” while adamantly pointing towards Miles

- I didn’t think it possible to get I wanna be yours x star treatment cause they did it the night before In Belfast but when that little shit said “I don’t wanna be hers I wanna be yours” I certainly lost my shit

-experiencing 505 with the mirrorball and strings

Blurry Miles in Dublin

#17/10/2023 #my show 🫠🫠🥹 #Dublin #night two #the crowd was so unbelievably loud but literally nobody but me was jumping around #but the mood was amazing #but I loved that; maybe it’s just cause the tours been going on for so long or it’s Ireland but there was a minimal noise difference betwee #the AM and the car/TBHC songs and that made me so happy #when Alex said let’s hear it for miles Kane in the middle of the set we all collective lost our minds cause we’re delusional but he was jus #thanking him for opening for them #also like whatever had been the problem with his in ears during the EU tour leg they seemingly fixed it cause he wore them for like 80% #Youtube #before the Ireland gigs I thought I was gonna combust if we get a pic of Alex listening from side stage #instead we got pics of miles sitting in the audience of night one and standing to the left of the stage on night two #I’ve never seen a crowd this hyped up; excited about an opener #so happy for miles he deserves to play venues this size on his own #he just seemed so grateful and happy/relieved that we all knew his songs and were vibing and that even the seats were completely ful for hi #Instagram #love that in the pic of Miles from the seats we can see that literally no one is paying him attention but everyone’s focused on the monkey

i can't believe i haven't asked for your in depth thoughts on the car yet but i am asking it now! has the top 5 changed?

so i just checked and my top 5 was mirrorball, big ideas, hello you, sculptures and mr schwartz and tbh i don't think it did. i'm not sure about mr schwartz, i think it might be switched for the car or jet skis on the moat, but yeah. some thoughts on each track individually:

there'd better be a mirrorball: instant classic, come on now! gorgeous production, THE STRINGS!!, smooth vocals, so hazy, beautiful and atmospheric. i cried to it more times than i am willing to admit, it really is a tearjerker. i've seen some people say that lyrics are the weakest part of the album, which i obviously disagree with, but especially on this one. it's pretty simple, but still effective and touching. "i'd throw the rose tint back on the exploded view darling, if i were you" always gets me.

i ain't quite where i think i am: FUN!! the weakest one on the album, but i genuinely love it. WAAAAAAH!! i am a she looks like fun enjoyer as well, so i guess i just like having fun idk?

sculptures of anything goes: no words to adequately explain the sheer grip this one has on me. everything i wanted and more. so dark, ominous, rich and textured, we love her!! and the title's very cool, too. it is a career highlight idc what y'all say!! 5 years from now we're gonna treat it with the same respect and love we treat crying lightning, four out of five and other pretties. love. alex turner work on a portishead inspired album challenge

jet skis on the moat: didn't grab me on the first listen, but it's actually very cute! gives me western vibes, one of the songs that reminds me of TBHC the most, for some reason. love the way he delivers "or are you just happy to sit there and watch while the paint job dries?". "you know that it's alright if you're wanna cry" thank you alex, but i have been bawling since the first track so <3

body paint: still sad it didn't live up to my very high expectations that were set up by that damn kings theatre live "leak", but i appreciate it way more in context. the piano riff is insane tho, sometimes it just randomly plays in my head throughout the day. also, really enjoy the first lyric. "for a master of deception and subterfuge you've made yourself quite the bed to LIE in" ok we get it you're very funny. also. "and i'm keeping on my costume and calling it a writing tool"? yeah he's.......... mhm

the car: ruins me the same way ultracheese does, which means i sob uncontrollably until i feel like there's no air around me at all. childhood memories always get me so hard and the strings add a sense of melancholy i can't handle. very sick of them to put it in the middle of the fucking record! anyway, it kinda reminds me of faust arp by radiohead, which is a win, because in rainbows is very good. good track!

big ideas: have i ever said that we should artists grow? let them change and flourish and explore new things? hm, idk. lyrically it's a bit too on the nose, which is not what i was expecting at all, but it's a welcome change from cryptic TBHC lyrics. sometimes i just want him to say what he thinks, you know? and we're gonna stop analysing the lyrics now, because i don't wanna get upset.

hello you: the first make me hold my breath and stop me in my tracks no matter what i'm doing (kinda like nfwmb foof and diwk do so. do with that what you will). that piano riff (? can you call it that idk i know nothing about music) is CRAZYYYY. also plays in my head throughout the day, so catchy and fun. lego napoleon moveh. vortex to vortex. the buisness they call show. 'ello gruesome. HELLOOOO YOU. might be my favourite from the record if i'm being completely honest. sorry, i love a good instrumental, what can i say. i actually saw someone say it's pattern with no miles, which is pretty accurate!

mr. schwartz: my head hurts. again, not getting into the lyrics, but i HAVE to point out that "and if wе guess who i'm pretending to be, do we win a prize?" makes me wanna lay down for a sec. also FINGERPICKING!!

perfect sense: why is it so short. melancholic (what a surprise), but doesn't make me wanna die! it's the type of melancholy that you feel when you're watching the last episode of your favourite show. a nice farewell song that sounds sad but hopeful, a gorgeous closer. they Know how to write a good closing track for sure. love it!!

my overall review: makes me cry, but it's very good. would love to have a couple more tracks that sound like i ain't quite or hello you to dilute the ... whatever's going on in the middle that makes me sob, but i can also appreciate the fact that it's just 10 tracks. still, we want b-sides @ am. make it happen!!!!! a 9/10, already in my top 3 (which is tbhc > humbug > fwn = the car), taylor swift cant't relate

I was about to submit a long ass dissertation about this tour but then decided to keep it short(ish). This whole tour got me weird vibes, from those random EU dates last summer, announced out of the blue, to the massive Uk stadium tour that doesn't "fit" The Car at all. My point is, for a band that gets so bold and daring and imaginative when it comes to recorded music (or at least Alex does?) and that prides(ed) themselves about never bowing to the business' demands, nowadays they sure play tours that are purely money grabbers. The setlist is all about nostalgia and old fan favourites, tbhc gets one song and worst of all, the Car, the album they're supposed to be promoting, gets all of 3 songs...so much for "we don't want to become the cover band of ourselves" (or something like that Alex said). And yes I very much know that tours are the real big money makers in the business but damn! maybe it is time they (their tour manager/organizer/promoter?) accept that the "new" Arctic Monkeys are not fitted for stadium or festival crowds? that smaller more theatre-like venues could be better suited (The Car at the arena in Pula would have been magnificent!)? Alex would enjoy touring more maybe (I've got many thoughs of this but I'd need another submission)? Less vintage clothes for Louise but more happiness and wellbeing for Alex maybe? (Sorry I had to XD)

I don't know, right now it kinda looks like not even the band itself believes in its own music, they talked about it very few (Matt did) and they don't play it so why sholud the not-hardcore kind of fans care about it?

They also said that a while ago and have kind of rolled back those statements by saying they made a lot of decisions out of stubbornness and not letting anyone in at the beginning. They clearly want to make money since AM given on how many TV shows that album is. Tours are the other money maker so stadium are the next logical step.
