We haven't seen what the daylight spell did to help the situation yet (except for drawing the attention of everyone, giving kuro the chance to get up again so tsubaki failed to put the counts blood in his mouth) but everything points towards the manga entering into the next stage of the final arc (sakuya killed his mikuni clone and misono freed himself from lily's chess game) so I assume that it will at least buy the characters some time to do other things again.

Anyway, I hope we'll see mikuni and lily starting to feel like the decision to put kuro on mahiru's path (ordinary high schooler from a sorcerer family with no magic abilities or combat experience not much to expect from to quote lily) might have been a mistake.

Mikuni is always hard to read so I'm suspicious of his decision to explain anything about his spell at all, but maybe he's getting cocky thinking there is no way they will be able to kill all his clones before the end of the ritual.

And this is probably where it will bite mikuni in the ass that he only relies on himself while mahiru aquired a huge amount of allies (potentially even more if tsubaki's subclass become his allies. And hey sakuya and lilac would probably help mahiru already). Killing 13 mikuni's with all the factions not communicating with each other and not working together? Okay, that barrier spell might have lasted until the ritual is done.

But with all the people on mahiru's side? He has almost all the servamps and their subclass, every eve except one, the entirety of C3, gear and some of tsubaki's subclass on his side. Even freaking touma is trying to stop the ritual.

The numbers are not in mikuni's favour. Even with him multiplying that much. Hugh already switched sides, jeje is still captured and lost his jinn, tsubaki is kind of stuck in his battle with kuro and lily I suspect might start to have doubts after he lost to misono.

Mahiru and kuro getting rid of the distance limit is another thing they probably didn't anticipate. It was an important part of so many plans before. Shuhei used it to try to pressure mahiru into working with C3, tsubaki used it to trick misono into thinking licht and lawless were kept apart and it put nicco under pressure when he had to take sigurd hostage. With it gone it's way harder to force the servamps and eves to do things they don't want to do.

School Quartet and the Four Symbols

okay so basically, this post is an excuse to talk about Mahiru and Sakuya lol, but I promise it'll be super interesting.

If you've been involved with anime, manga, donghua, pretty much any east asian form of media (especially Chinese), for long enough, you'll likely have run across a set of animals that reappear across the board.

The White Tiger of the West

The Azure Dragon of the East

The Vermilion Bird of the South

and The Black Tortoise of the North

These are the Four Symbols, a group of mythical creatures appearing among the Chinese constellations and are primarily viewed as guardians of the cardinal directions, but, they also have a number of other traits assigned to them, including colors, seasons, elements, emotions, virtues, among other things.

Now that we have the most basic of basic backgrounds out of the way, we can move on!

Note: Even though these creatures are of Chinese origin, I will be using their Japanese names since Servamp is a Japanese series. Please understand, thank you!

Koyuki and Ryuusei are rather minor characters, not even possessing family names, however, they have the very lucky position of being Mahiru's childhood best friends, and also two people Sakuya cares about very much. Their names are the greatest point of interest.

Koyuki's name is written with the kanji for tiger (虎) and snow (雪). This makes the connection VERY clear. He's Byakko, the White Tiger!

Ryuusei, meanwhile, has his name written with the characters for dragon (龍) and ruler (征), but it's also the sounds that compose the Japanese name for the Azure Dragon switched around (Seiryuu)!

As characters, both in name, personality, and appearance, they're meant to be opposites, which totally makes sense, considering their Symbols are opposite from each other.

So we have half of the set. What about Mahiru and Sakuya?

Mahiru is relatively easy. His name is written with the characters for true and noon (真昼) and means "midday." His favorite color is also orange! Naturally, this makes him Suzaku, the Vermilion Bird, whose corresponding time of day is midday, and Vermilion is a brilliant shade of reddish-orange. His father, Touma, also has the symbolic animal of the peacock, which is the animal most commonly used as inspiration for depictions of Suzaku.

Which brings us to Sakuya. At first look, Sakuya doesn't seem to have much in common with Genbu, the Black Tortoise. His name is unmistakably meant to invoke images of spring time, and his favorite colors are firefly green (the color of his tracksuit, and green is also the color of the Azure Dragon, whose season is Spring) and neons, like you see on his headphones. So, what gives? Well, simple! Sakuya's more subtle references to Genbu are both meant to be a reference to his nature as a liar (winter pretending to be spring) and to his allies! The "black" in Sakuya's character is his ties to Tsubaki of Melancholy, and each Elite wears a black bandana somewhere on their person. The winter in his character is meant to express that he's a vampire! Same with the fact that Genbu's assigned time of day is midnight, and Sakuya pretends to be a normal human who can walk in the sun.

I'm hoping that all this means that, in the future, Koyuki and Ryuusei will be able to play a bigger role, especially with the careful consideration and clues something as simple as their names points us towards. Given Servamp's emphasis on the importance of a name, though, I'm really not surprised!

On a larger scale, I feel like this is meant to all emphasize the importance Mahiru and Sakuya's relationship is going to play on a grander scale than it already does. Currently the series is set in Summer, Mahiru's season, yet the weather is behaving as if it's Winter, Sakuya's.

The "yao" assigned to them also reflects their inseparable nature from one another, with Genbu's being for "Greater Yin," (which when written in Chinese is 太陰 and also refers to the moon) while Suzaku represents "Greater Yang," which is written as 太陽 and, you guessed is, is another way of referring to the sun!

This is COMPLETELY separate *gestures above* all of that, but I wanted to bring up how Mahiru's name is written with the kanji for "true" and Sakuya's alias under Tsubaki being "the liar" is also proof positive that these two... Need each other to be balanced.

They are winter and summer, night and day, water and fire, lies and truth, vampire and human, Melancholy... And Hope.

They are balance.

And in balance, there is peace.

Okay, this may just be wishful thinking, but (cut for Servamp Chapter 105 spoilers and length - sorry I get rambly) (well it started out as stating wishful thinking and then I spiralled into theories lmao)

I don’t think Mikuni was trying to kill Tetsu. Jeje is a good shot, as far as we’ve seen - the thing with Kuro near the start, and I’m pretty sure he’s explicitly trying to not hit Mikuni when shooting at him in annoyance, which takes good aim.

Tetsu was shot in the side. Not the head or the heart, but the side; if Mikuni had wanted to kill Tetsu, he wouldn’t have told Jeje to aim there.

Mikuni is, however, definitely planning something. What, I don’t know, dude’s a mystery, but there’s two options:

a) He wanted to separate Nicco and Ildio. Ildio has the rule that children must not be harmed; Mikuni could have heard that from Jeje or he could’ve found out when he was digging into Nicco’s background. That’d explain why he waited until Ildio was present, too.

b) He wanted to force Hugh to make Tetsu his Eve. Eves are, as Lawless-chan told (and showed) us, far more resilient than ordinary humans, so even if the wound would be deadly for a normal human, there’s a good chance it wouldn’t be for an Eve.

Now why he might have wanted those things, I don’t know. Cowboy’s playing 5D exploding galaxy chess and I can’t even beat the computer at normal chess at any difficulty higher than 0.

Let’s start with Option A

Mikuni could’ve killed Tsurugi after the hospital battle (or could’ve just let him die in the C3 collapse - unless he was trying to get Mahiru killed by sending him after Tsurugi, but that again would beg the question as to why), but instead chooses to make Nicco do it a few days later. He probably knows that Tsurugi is around Misono currently, though, especially considering that Mikuni specifically says they’ll start tomorrow because it’s getting too late for Misono.

No matter what else is true about Mikuni, he adores his little brother. He sings about that in both of his songs (Spiral Pensée is completely about that, and Departure From 0 has lines like “When the tragedy happened, my only thought was about what I could do for you until the day you could accept the truth.” and “I’ll care for you even when I’m not with you”), he left everything he knew for that, he killed his own mother for that. Whatever he’s planning, he’s convinced it’ll be the best for Misono, that’s the one thing I’m sure of. (Whether he’s right is a different question, but he definitely believes so)

But, why would Mikuni want Misono to witness the battle between Nicco and Tsurugi? If it were about preventing Tsurugi from spilling information, he wouldn’t want Nicco to wait until tomorrow. Misono is currently mostly unable to fight, too, though I feel like he still wouldn’t just sit back and watch when his allies are being threatened. Maybe he wants Misono to learn how to fight without Lily’s presence. Maybe that could awaken something to help Lily regain his Djinn. Maybe he feels it’d be best for Misono to get used to seeing people get hurt and die to make whatever else his plans may cause hurt less (As I said... It doesn’t actually have to be the best for Misono, just what Mikuni thinks would be best. Also Mikuni better not be planning to end up dead by the end of everything or I will cry punch him). Maybe he wants to make their dad take Misono far away from Tokyo someplace safer.

Option B

Hugh getting an Eve could be so he has a contract item that can be broken and thus release the Djinn, maybe, but if Hugh is truly on Tsubaki’s side, he would’ve made a contract with a random person instead of specifically Tetsu. Maybe (or maybe not idk, it’s not really canon after all) worth mentioning here is that, in the Final Servamp Quest banter, Hugh is not uncomfortable if put in a Yes-Vote Team (Kuro, Hugh, Lily and Jeje). Neither is Lily btw, while Kuro and Jeje are.

It could also be to push Hugh away from Tsubaki, since I doubt Tetsu would want to join forces with Tsubaki, and Hugh would be reluctant to work with someone who hurt Tetsu. I don’t think Mikuni wants Tsubaki to succeed. Definitely not while Misono is in the “everyone will die” area, but even aside from that, why would he? He’s not too fond of vampires in general and Servamps in particular, so he has no reason to want another one, and he helped Mahiru train, which wouldn’t make sense to do if he wants Mahiru to lose.

Fighting (A servamp kuromahi fanfiction)

(This is my first fanfiction on Tumbler. If you want me to make more fanfictions just ask. I enjoy this kind of thing so I want to do more but I don’t know what people want. so ENJOY! XD)

The power was out due to a bad thunderstorm. It had wiped out the entire neighborhood’s power so we weren’t the only ones.

Kuro and I had decided to cuddle on the couch for warmth. With a few minor scented candles lit of course. The dark room was dimly lit by said candles and only allowed my human eyes limited sight, were as my cat counter part could see everything. 

“K-Kuro do you mind g-going and getting another b-blanket? I'm freezing.” I shuttered with shivers wracking my frame.

“Can’t deal.” He mutters begrudgingly but got up to get one anyway. Once he returned he threw the orange cloth at me. I immediately wrapped myself in its delicious warmth. “Why don’t you get it yourself next time.” he groaned as he sat back down.

“Because I don’t have night vision unlike a certain ally cat I know.” I muttered. A clash of lightning lit the room for a few mere seconds, however it gave me enough time for me to read Kuro’s face. He looked at me with sad eyes that left me wondering what was wrong. “Are you doing ok Kuro?” I asked with a concerned tone.

“it’s nothing.” He said. His figure turned away from me. Our fight with Tsubaki hadn’t been to long ago. My guess was Kuro was still worried about his youngest brother. My concern exponentially grew for the servamp as he started to not eat his cupped ramen when offered.

Tenderly I placed my hand on the servamp’s shoulder. “Kuro talk to me. I’m here.” I said slowly.

“Mahiru, do you think it was right of me to get in Tsubaki’s way?” he asked. “I mean, if I had been in his shoes...” Kuro trailed off not bothering to finish.

“Kuro, what you did saved thousands if not millions of innocent lives. Never doubt for a moment what you did was wrong. “I’m proud you faced things head on.” I told him boldly, hoping to convey my feeling on the topic to him.

“How can you possibly know anything about it?” Kuro suddenly snapped.

“What?” I was confused.

”You don’t know anything! You don’t get it. I betrayed my brother, my father how could you be proud?!” Kuro shouted at me.

“You are my servamp and I your eve, but that dose not define our relationship Kuro.” I kept my voice calm despite the urge to do otherwise.

“Why even DID you pick me up?! I’m just an ally cat after all.” He snapped making air quotations. 

“Kuro were is all this coming from?!” I gapped shocked.

“Us meeting was a mistake.” He said in a hushed whisper. I don’t think he meant for me to here which made it all that much worse. However after he said it, he seemed to go back to normal.

“Sorry, I’ll be going to bed. I’m really tired.” I said softly. Kuro didn’t seem to notice as he opened the DS and played to Mario. I laid there for a good hour or two, just thinking what could have possibly made Kuro this upset. 

The next morning I found Kuro sleeping on the couch. “I guess things won’t be the same.” I mumbled looking at him. The light from outside lit up the apartment nicely. I paced in the kitchen thinking to myself. I nearly walked into the counter because I was so deep in thought. If it hadn’t been for Kuro’s violent howling I would’ve. 

“Kuro!” I cried with concern as I rushed into the living room.

“Mahiru.” Kuro said once I came into sight. I moved slowly toward him just in case he rejected my presence.

“Kuro are you okay?” I asked cautiously. He gave me a level look as I sat next to him.

”I was just having a nightmare. It’s nothing for you to be concerned about.” He said with a blatant tone. 

“What? I can’t be concerned about you?” I asked hurt.

“Stay out of my life.” He hissed. Between this and last night I was starting to wonder if he blamed me for Tsubaki. I lowered my eyes to the floor.

“Fine.” I muttered just loud enough for him to hear before leaving the apartment.

  I needed to blow off some stem so I went to Sakuya. The only thing I didn’t know was how far the distance restriction was. So I had Sakuya meet me at a nearby park.“Yo’ what’s wrong? You seemed pretty on edge when you called.” Sakuya asked.

“I think Kuro is upset... no I know he is, but he won’t tell me what’s wrong.” I said glaring at the ground.

“I’ll talk to him.” He offered kindly.

“No! That will make it worse. Besides it’s between him and me. Whatever it is I have to be the one to talk to him. Otherwise he’ll never want to open up to me again.” I shouted.

(Now what I didn’t know at this time was that Kuro was listening in on my conversation, hiding behind a tree next to the bench I sat on. Come to find out Sakuya had planned for him to.)

“Why do you say that? He let you in about his father.” Sakuya said confused. “That’s true at least.” I muttered.

“Well there you go then. So what makes this any different? Maybe he just doesn’t know how to talk to you about it.” Sakuya asked.

“What makes it different is the comments. ‘stay out of my life’ ‘Us meeting was a mistake’ you tell me that’s miscommunication.” I sighed.  

”Wow he really said that?!” Sakuya gasped shock written all over his face.

“I wish I had dreamed it. I don’t want to agree with him. I’m glad I picked him up. He has changed my life, maybe not it the best way, but I like it the way it is now. I just wish he could say the same.” I muttered. “Honestly I feel like I’ve failed him.”

 *Kuro*

 I had been listing to this conversation due to Sakuya’s request. However I only half payed attention. The only comment that stuck in my head was Mahiru feeling like he failed me. The words sent shivers to my core. The words I spoke to him recently echoed in my mind. The ironic thing was I didn’t mean a word of it.

“Mahiru I would just give Kuro time. He has his own problems and they may very well not be your concern.” I peeked at Mahiru’s face. The hurt in his eyes pulled at my heart.

“Thanks Sakuya.” He said softly.

“I think you should head back. My guess is Kuro’s hungry.’” Sakuya said jokingly, his effort to brighten Mahiru’s mood was in vain.

“Your right.” I rushed back into the apartment shortly before Mahiru did.

“Kuro?!” Mahiru called for me. I calmed my nerves as I prepared an apology or something to say to him. “I’m making lunch.” He said coming into the living room. I looked at his back as he turned to go back on the kitchen. Morphing into my cat form I made way to the kitchen.  

“Mahiru...” I called quietly.

“Huh?”

“Sakuya had me listen to you conversation.” I said guilty.

“That jerk!” Mahiru cried suddenly red in the face.

“Mahiru!” I shouted to regain his attention. Once I had it I continued. “I had no idea that was what you though. I’m not upset with you. I... I just was lost in thought and blaming myself for Tsubaki.” I said nearly going on a rant.

“So you actually want me in your life?” Mahiru’s breath stopped as he waited for my reply

”Yes I do.” I said with a cat smile.
