It was a little strange, but that was not showing on Kaito’s face as he was sitting not quite at the front, but neither at the very back of the lecture hall. It was the second lecture of the semester that he had, the first one had been in a lab and it had been very boring. Because after the introductions of the professor and his TAs they had droned on and on.... an on about lab safety and rules, like none of them had ever seen a chem lab. He’d nearly fallen asleep.

This one seemed to be more promising, less interactive, but he hoped they would get to cover some sort of lecture material past introductions. Two people already sat with him and they started some smalltalk chit-chat that he was participating in to cause a laugh here and there with a silly comment.

One more thing that made this slightly strange was the fact that for the first time in his life he was at a learning institution without a uniform. And Kaito actually had done some research to make sure he did not stand out after dressing in the morning. So there he was, dressed in a pair of black slacks, canvas sneakers and a white button up with the top two buttons popped open and a dark grey jumper covering the rest. Watches weren’t uncommon, so he had put on a subtle silver one on his left wrist, since checking time on his phone might have brought some negative attention to him. (And he was not quite there yet.)

What he hadn’t lost however, was his posture, relaxed and open as he was leaned back in the chair, one ankle resting on his opposite knee, leaving enough space for his hands to gesture freely. Neither had he lost the mess he called hair that some called artfully styled while others leaned more towards the term bird’s nest. Not his fault entirely though, against some opinions he did comb it, regularly, but he didn’t bother to try taming it with hair products.

When a new person entered the room, his eyes discretely wandered over towards the door. For a fraction of a second and only someone who knew to keep attention this closely the surprise, near shock was visible on his face and he had to keep himself from a double take. But his expression smoothed over quickly enough for his conversation partners not to notice at all.

It was then that Kaito chose to actually sit up and turn his upper body slightly towards the door, waving with a grin. “Hakuba!” And that made the other two look over as well, halting in their conversation to look at the newcomer.

Your opinion on The Kudo Family?

             “Well, to be honest, I’ve never met any of them personally. I’ve heard a lot about them. I read Kudo Yusaku’s work and my mother, I think, has spoken about Kudo Yukiko before. Most of the TMPD is fond of Kudo Shinichi, the Detective of the East, he’s a high school detective like me but for reasons unknown, he has stepped out of the spotlight. He’s the one I’d most love to meet.”

which of the KID heist was your favorite?

          “That is to say that all of them aren’t enjoyable. No, if I had to pick one I would have to say the very first one I’m the fondest of. KID was still growing into himself and I had met someone who I could say stood with me on equal grounds. It was a delightful experience.”

if u were to sort urself and ur friends into hogwart houses, which houses would u sort everyone into, and why?

           “The famous Harry Potter question. I can’t say for sure about the others, but I’m in the Gryffindor house, 13 ¾ elder wood, phoenix feather core hard flexibility, and my Patronus is a greyhound. 

         Kuroba and Nakamori, I can see them in the same house together since they are close friends. I would have to say the Hufflepuff house since it values hard wor, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Yet Kuroba has a Ravenclaw’s wit, most of Gryffindor’s values and a few from Slytherin. I would be curious to see where Kuroba could go with traits from all of the houses. 

         Koizumi, however, is a Slytherin, ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness, and whenever I see her, the animal that comes to mind is a serpent. Beautiful, sleek, and deadly.

         These are just my impressions, however.”

A fellow birds of prey appreciator! I love them a lot too, especially golden eagles! Can you tell us some of your favorite species of birds of prey?

          “Golden Eagles are especially beautiful. Watson is a Northern Goshawk, so I’m extremely fond of them. The Bat Falcon, Barn Owls, Common Kestrel, White-Tailed Eagles, and Ospreys are to name a few others that I like.”

oooh bird of prey! in that case, what do you think about KID's doves then? they're natural enemies aren't they?

               “I wouldn’t say that they are enemies per se. Most birds of prey are opportunistic hunters, by which they’ll take the chance if they can, but it is difficult to catch birds as prey. Personally, I’m fond of KID’s doves and wish to meet them. They are quite talented.”

          “ I would say a gryphon. They are seen as a combination of strength and intelligence and deemed as protectors. It would also be really nice to fly freely.”

           "They are not many things that I pretend to dislike. A person comes to mind, though. Kuroba, when we first met, irritated me, but after some time, I couldn't help but be attracted to him and his enigmatic. I pester him still mostly out of a fondness for him than to really antagonize him."

So like, what *were* you doing at paris fashion week? were you invited to it? any brands you like in particular? or were u there for work ;)?

           “Well, my mother had initially invited me to accompany her to the events, but once I got there, I had gotten wrapped up in a sabotage plan. She had been invited by a friend of hers, one who designs the ball gowns she wears. After the case was taken care of I did stay to enjoy the week and walk Paris. As for brands that I’m interested in it happens to depend on the year but I’m partial to Giorgio Armani.”

if you weren't a detective, which career path would u have taken?

               “That is a difficult question. I’ve never seen myself being anything other than a detective. Of course, I had the childhood dreams of being an astronaut when you’re at that age and have the imagination that you’ll be anything. If I had to think about it, realistically I’d most likely end up inheriting the Belmont business but my choice would actually be a veterinarian, specializing in wild animals.”
