As we are entering the holiday season, avoid the following as they are hazardous to pets & can make them very sick:- -Onion family, onions & garlic, whether dry, raw or cooked,is particularly toxic to dogs & can cause gastrointestinal irritation & damages the red blood cells -Chocate - contains a stimulant theobromine which can cause kidney failure -Macadamia Nuts - affects the nervous system of the dog -Artificial sweetener, xylitol containing substances. Can cause hypoglycemia, liver failure & even blood clotting disorders -Alcohol - causes intoxication, diarrhoea, even CNS damage -Grapes & raisins can cause liver & kidney failure -Avocado -persin in the leaves of avocado can cause diarrhoea & vomiting in dogs -Cannabis (marijuana)- a small amount of cannabis can cause toxicity in cats & dogs as they have more cannabinoid receptors in their brains than humans.
