Heyy!! Soo I saw your drabble post today. 4, 17 and 69.
Y'all just want me to write more wedding au stuff don't you...welp I can't resist. I hope you enjoy this little drabble, lovely!
4 - I've never seen you dance before
17 - You didn't have to marry me, you know
69 - Bed. Now.
Andrew hadn't considered one fundamental part to a wedding reception. Sure, there was nothing traditional about what he and Neil were doing, but the way that his eyes lit up at the mention of a 'first dance' did things to Andrew. In a way that made his face heat up and his heart beat loudly enough he could hear it in his ears. In a way that he knew he would be agreeing to something very stupid, very soon.
It also hit him in that moment that he'd left choosing any music for that day up to Neil. That was something he probably should've been more involved in.
"If you want to dance," Andrew began, "then ask me."
"Really?" Neil asked, his smile getting even wider. "I've never seen you dance before."
"I've just never let you," Andrew said back. He couldn't remember the last time he'd danced. Ever.
"I learned," Neil said. "So? Yes or no?"
"Don't ask stupid questions," Andrew replied. He took Neil's outstretched hand and whispered a 'yes' between their mouths. The next thing he knew, he was standing on the dance floor, and all the attention was on them.
Whatever song played was something Andrew recognized to have played on the radio at some point during a long drive with Neil. He was aware of how many eyes were on the two of them as Neil took his hands and guided one to his waist, the other trapped in Neil's grip.
"You know, on the bright side, if one of us falls then so does the other," Neil said.
"Shut up," Andrew told him. "Don't step on my feet."
Neil guided them around the dance floor, and somehow they managed to not step on each other's toes. Andrew felt awkward the whole time they moved, but he couldn't take his eyes off of Neil's face, and it didn't seem like Neil could look away, either.
"Staring," Andrew told him, just to say something. For a moment he wasn't sure that he had been heard over the music.
"You too," Neil said back.
Andrew took his hand away from where it was resting on Neil's waist, raising it to grip the back of his neck instead. "You're insufferable," Andrew growled at him.
"You didn't have to marry me, you know." Neil was grinning far too much.
"Maybe I wanted to spare someone else from having to deal with your dumbass," Andrew told him.
"You know there wouldn't have been anyone else."
It always gave Andrew goosebumps to hear that. Of all the people Neil could've settled on, he'd decided to choose Andrew. It always felt impossible to hear.
The moment the song ended, Andrew left the dance floor. The rest of their guests rushed to fill the space the two had left, giving them some time alone with some leftover cake. Andrew could feel Neil's eyes on him again, but he refrained from telling Neil to stop. Instead, he glanced around to make sure there wasn't anyone nearby.
"Yes or no?" he asked, glancing from Neil's eyes to his lips.
"Yes," Neil told him easily.
They met each other halfway. Andrew pulled Neil's chair closer while Neil grabbed his hair, pulling it just enough to tug Andrew's head back and make him hiss. For a moment, he really thought that Neil was going to kiss his neck in front of everyone. Instead, he just leaned in close enough to be level with the side of Andrew's head.
"You know you're never going to win those arguments, right?" Neil whispered in his ear. Andrew could ear the smirk in his tone. "Besides, you like me."
Neil should know better. Andrew leaned back and gripped his neck again, feeling short of breath all of a sudden. Fuck it, he trusted Nicky to take care of everything. "Bed," Andrew demanded, starting to pull Neil to his feet. "Now."
Nicky didn't end up calling that night, but maybe that was for the best.
