I had to check and see what the Reeve’s Tale was about again (the story that “this wenche is thikk or whatever it is comes from) since it’s been so long since I’ve read Canterbury Tales, and wow it’s Horrible. I think I distinctly remember not being able to finish that one (there were a few like that)

on my last reblog i will point out that "this wenche thikke" is not the same as modern english "this wench thick" because "this wenche thikke" there is only part of the sentence- the verb "was" is just moved to the end of the line. "this wench thick" is using aave grammar which has copula deletion in some contexts, tho i believe it would be present tense- meaning that they dont even mean the same thing! still a fun parallel tho
