summary: with you, always after a depressive state a wave of organization and the need to clean came over you. pair this with the holiday season and it was even more chaotic, pair this with not answering your phone and a worried boyfriend and it was a mess.

warnings: depressive state, motivation/organization, christmas (idk bro just in case)

notes: yes, i know that the hughes’ are jewish and celebrate hanukkah (at least i’m pretty sure don’t sue me if i’m wrong please), but this was inspired by me because this literally happened and is happening right now so the reader does celebrate christmas. and also the way she cleans in this and does stuff is literally how i did things because you all need to see how i function i guess. someone count how many times i said ‘decorate, decorative, decorated, or anything else along those lines. also add yourself to the tag list! ➺ taglist form

Quinn was worried. She had been in a depressive state for a couple of weeks now and this one felt like it was never ending. With the holidays coming up, he was even more worried because he knew before the small break that he had a road trip and didn’t want to leave her alone. 

He knew about her routine when it came to her depressive episodes. He could always tell when it started, yet he couldn’t tell when it was going to end, no one knew. However, he did know about what she did as soon as she got out of it.

She on the other hand was not worried. She had been sitting in bed when the sudden urge to go shopping hit her. She hadn’t done anything for the holidays and with it being two weeks until Christmas, she had to get going.  It was early in the morning, around 6 in the morning when it hit, Quinn had already left for practice, or morning skate, or a game, she couldn’t remember. 

It didn’t take her much time to get ready and head out the door, and to her car. She sighed when she saw it and how messy it was, taking the time to clean it out and wash it off. It was cold in Vancouver, as it is a lot of the time. She was wearing one of her favorite sweaters and a pair of jeans, her winter coat thrown over. She took the time to do her hair and her makeup, it was the first time in weeks that she had felt this put together. 

With her motivation, it only took her 30 minutes to clean her car. She got in, putting her Christmas/Holiday playlist on to listen to as she drove to Starbucks to get her coffee which was much needed for a day like today. She then proceeded to drive to the store, without a list because when this state happened, her ADHD spiked. 

Pulling into the parking lot, it was five minutes after they had opened which meant that most of the things had been restocked. She grabbed the cart and put her coffee in the portable cupholder that she always brought to the store in case a cart didn’t have one. 

She started at one side of the store, the holiday section, picking up some decorations that she hadn’t bothered to do beforehand. She moved towards the craft section so she could get working on the gifts she had to make. Even though a lot of her close friends didn’t celebrate Christmas, she still wanted to make them gifts for the other holidays that they did celebrate or even if they didn’t celebrate anything. 

Quinn never really minded the Christmas decorations at their home, it always made her happy so it made him happy too. Somehow, she had always made it feel like home, including lots of blue and silver for Hanukkah and other things that made it feel like the holidays.

She practically skipped down the aisles, holiday music blasting through her earbuds and in between the songs, she could hear it through the speakers of the store. She had since moved to the food section, getting everything she needed for cookies and other sweets that she loved to give to the team, which they greatly appreciated. 

An hour later, she checked out and unloaded everything into her car. She ran to put the cart away, the cold slowly starting to get to her, and ran back to her car. On the way home, Quinn had texted her but she was too motivated to let anything stop her. 

Gathering everything from the car, she trekked up into their home and placed everything down right at the entrance. The first thing she needed to do was to get the cookies and other things prepped. She made all the dough that needed to sit for a while first, placing them either on the separate counter or in the fridge. 

She then moved on to making the easier cookies and placing them in the oven, setting timers on her phone for each batch. She had gotten her computer for not only a checklist, even though she knew she wouldn’t stick to it, but also for music because it always sounded better coming from there when she was doing things. 

As the cookies were baking, she started getting all the fall decorations put away and organized. Setting them into their storage room and getting their holiday decorations out, placing them in the living room. She first needed to finish cleaning before getting started on the decorating. 

She started by dusting and gathering everything that was out of place and putting them somewhat together so she could go through it later. Yet, she was distracted by her books all over the place so she decided to reorganize it, leaving spaces for the decor. Then the first alarm on her phone rang and she took the cookies out of the oven, swiftly putting a new batch in. 

Then, she organized her desk because she had been moving stuff around that it got messy, followed by her two carts that sat by it, holding pens and a mass amount of other things that she had to take care of. She switched the calendars on her bulletin board to December so she could view the events that were happening but also Quinn’s Jack and Luke’s schedules so she could watch their games when they were on. 

After that, she had to write all of her weekly events and games onto her whiteboard which was time-consuming. Running back to the kitchen, she took the next batch of cookies and took the dough out of the fridge to get them ready for the oven, changing everything she needed to. When she looked at their bedroom she noticed the laundry all around so she cleaned that up and started a load as well. Organizing their closet and bathroom while she was at it. 

She was a little worn out but she couldn’t stop now, knowing that if she were she wouldn’t be able to get back into this rhythm later. So she moved on to changing their sheets so they were blue with snowflakes and added a few Christmas pillows to make it feel like her. Then she added the other decorations she got for the bedroom as well. 

Now it was time for the living room. She put up their fake tree that she had gotten in case they were ever too busy to get a real one. She put the first one up in one corner, beside the TV, and the other one on the opposite side next to the couch. She decorated the first one with multi-colored lights and all other Christmas-y things. 

Then she took the bin labeled ‘Hanukkah Tree’ and placed it by the other one. She put more pillows onto their couch before making more cookies. Taking a break from cleaning, she made some chocolate, pretzel reindeer and put them on a decorative platter. She placed the other cookies she would take the team in different tins and placed them in a bag by the door.

She noticed the other bags by the front door and brought them into the living room, grabbing the two extra rolling carts from her office along the way. One cart was for her hot chocolate and snack bar that she and Quinn started as a tradition in college. She put that by the TV mantel, also placing the festive bins they had underneath and switching out everything from the fall to the winter bins. 

By now, it had been two to three hours, it was now around 2 (taking a break to eat of course), her motivation kicking in, and Quinn had been texting her. They had a game and a morning skate that day so in between the two some of the team had decided to go out for food and hang out at Brock’s house for the time being. He was worried, but it wasn’t unusual for her not to. He thought she was curled up in bed either still sleeping or staring off into space, but he couldn’t be farther from the truth. When she was motivated, she tended not to look at her phone, knowing it would stop her from completing anything she wanted to. 

He tried not to worry, with the game and all it kind of took his mind off of it. But he could never really be settled about the fact that his girlfriend hadn’t answered him all day even if it was normal. She might’ve gotten hurt or needed him so much that she couldn't text him. It bothered him throughout the whole day. 

She was really happy and pleased with herself as she stopped to eat lunch and looked around their home. She watched ‘Home Alone’ as she ate, looking at her computer to see what she had completed. She was surprised when a lot of it could be checked off and there were only a few more things to do, the guest rooms and bathroom, along with a number of small other tasks. She finished baking for the moment, a lot of the other dough still needed to sit for a couple more hours. 

She allowed herself to breathe a little bit, doing some work on her computer. She then laid out the gifts she needed to make in her spreadsheet, along with the cards and other copious amounts of things that went into gifts. It was one of her main love languages. 

When she started up again, she tackled the bigger tasks first, the guest rooms and bathroom, getting it restocked and festive just in case there was an emergency need for a room. Then she finished decorating the house, putting some paper snowflakes that she had found time to make, putting the festive towels out (one more for Christmas and one for Hanukkah), and other finishing touches. 

Then she put the bins away, keeping the tree stuff out for her and Quinn to do tomorrow when he had an off day. She collapsed onto the couch and looked around in amazement. It was really nice to see their home so clean after her previous state.

She continued to watch ‘Home Alone’ as she made gifts, sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table. When the time came around, she put the game on and cheered on Quinn. She would’ve gone if this motivation kick had come two days earlier and she felt bad. She hadn’t been able to come to a game in forever. Though, Quinn would be just as happy that she was feeling better and just watching the game from the comfort of their home. 

Throughout the game she made more cookies and continued to make gifts, finishing a lot actually. In between intermissions, she gave herself breaks so she could get around and move a little more especially because after standing all day she was cramping from sitting down. 

When the game was over, she switched it back to ‘Home Alone 2’ which was almost over, so she then put Elf on which is what she was watching when Quinn came through the door. He smelt the baking when he stepped in and furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

“Babe?”

Y/n got up from the ground and made her way to where her boyfriend was standing, “Hey Quinny! Nice job tonight!” She hugged him tightly kissing him on the cheek.

“Do you want some cookies? I made a lot today, there’s the bag of cookies for you to bring to the team. I also left the bin of Hanuakkah tree stuff out so we could decorate it tomorrow. I got the hot chocolate and snack cart put together and I decorated.”

“I can see. I can also see you’re feeling better.”

Quinn walked further into the room and placed his bag down in its respective place, watching as his girlfriend sat on one of the stools at the bar counter.

“You have a good day?” She nodded her head and spread her legs a little so Quinn could stand closer to her. 

He kissed her head and smiled, “That's good.” He took his suit jacket off and placed it on the neighboring stool before kissing her on the lips. 

“I’m glad you’re feeling better, sweetheart.”

“Me too, Quinny. How about you go shower and we can restart the movie and cuddle on the couch?” He nodded his head and headed to their bathroom to shower.

Thirty minutes later, y/n was laying on the couch when Quinn came back in gray sweatpants and one of his Canucks sweatshirts. She scooted over and patted the spot behind her, the boy fit perfectly, wrapping his arms around the girl’s waist. 

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Quinner.”

The two fell asleep not that far into the movie, sleeping in their newly decorated living room.

this girl came into my life when i was 14, and i remember when quinn introduced us. we hit it off immediately and one of my first thoughts was “i’m gonna spend my life with this girl”

at the time, i didn’t think it in a romantic sense, but more of a ‘this girl is gonna be my best friend forever’ way. of course, i’m not surprised to find that i was right. the past seven years with her in my life have been nothing short of amazing.

I just know with Hughes bros x angel the boys absolutely love doing skin to skin with the babies

the first time that they’re presented with the opportunity is shortly after the twins are born and quinn and jack are having a genuine conversation about who gets to go first when ellen chimes, “there’s two of you and there’s two babies. you take one and you take the other, the switch off.”

quinn chooses his namesake while jack gets drew and as soon as the nurses put their babies in their arms, they’re done. quinn’s crying instantly and jack’s just speechless staring down at the little life he had helped create. they vaguely here ellen ask how it feels and after a moment, jack speaks up, “mom, i’m sorry, but i didn’t think that i could love anything this much.”

“this is-” quinn can’t even finish his sentence because wren is wrapping her tiny hand around his index finger, “oh, hi wrenny.”

“are you crying, man?” jack sniffles as he looks over to his brother. they share a look and there’s absolutely no malice when they both chuckle, “me too.”

they’re so excited to tell angel all about when she wakes up from her nap and ellen is more than happy to show her all of the pictures she took of the four of them. even after they leave the hospital, they are more than ready to offer themselves (and their chests) for their babies disposal because the feeling never got old.

and when it comes time for luke to have his turn, everything his brothers had told him rang true as he stared down at his daughter. wow, how could he have ever thought he didn’t want this?

Luke walked out onto the deck, sun glaring in his eyes. he had his curtains drawn when he woke up, and he hadn't bothered peeling them apart before he slipped on his swim shorts. therefore, he had no way to tell that he had hickies littering his neck and down onto his chest. 

You were sat outside with the rest of the boys upon Lukes arrival. you felt your face heat up as soon as you saw the marks trailing down his body. You may have been a little too enthusiastic last night.

It didn't take long for the guys to notice, all quickly chirping him about the mystery girl he was seeing.

“When did you go see this mystery girl? Those look kind of fresh” Cole asked, laughing at the expression on Luke’s face. He looked bewildered, as if he had no idea where the hickies came from in the first place.

“Dude there’s no way he left yesterday he was literally here all night?” Jack answered Cole, a look of confusion with a little hint of pride etched onto his face. there was no way Luke was going around and sneaking girls into the house without anyone realizing. And if that was the case and he was, Jack was a little impressed. 

“Did you sneak someone in last night?” Quinn confusedly questioned, cocking his head to one side as he took in Luke's appearance. 

“Lukey pookie is all grown up!” Trevor singsonged, before seemingly realizing something. His eyes took a sweep around the group and frowned when his eyes settled onto yours. You promptly looked away as you felt the heat from before steadily rise to your cheeks. Trevor had no doubt put it together. You were the only girl in the group, plus you wouldn’t meet his gaze. 

However, if Trevor had known anything, he didn’t say. He tensely laughed along to the rest of the guys chirps as Luke put on a shirt. 

for the rest of your time at the lake house, you and Luke kept things more pg. nobody brought up the mystery girl after that day, and Trevor seemed to have moved on. 

Right as you were about to board your plane back to new york though, you posted on instagram so the boys had something to talk about when you were gone.

↳ star crossed lovers au masterlist. ↳ throwback blurb to 2019 right after the draft (: warnings: swearing & an anxiety attack!.. this one is sad :/ word count: 1.5k

kailey had just come back from a soccer intensive out in los angeles, when jack had just come back from the devils development camp. quinn and kailey had just walked inside through the garage when jack waltzed through the front door demanding the family's attention. he wanted to let them all know what he had gotten up to. kailey silently groaned, and turned towards the kitchen to grab a snack. quinn watched her walk out of the family room and jack could not hide his distaste, "is that how you're gonna treat your brother who's been away for almost a month?" he chastised, referencing his non stop media touring and now development camp. she sighed knowing that this was a fight that he was gonna win, each and every time. she no longer had the energy or will to compete. "why yes jack, id love to know everything." she said sarcastically as she went to grab an apple and creamy peanut butter.

jack made a tsk noise, and began to ramble on for the next 45 minutes. by the time he was done, kailey had managed to slip out without so much as an eyebrow raised from the boy. luke found his way up to her bedroom, softly knocking before stepping inside. she had just finished putting her clothes away or in the laundry bin, and she shook her head. "its not even worth it lukey." she said not looking up at him as she fished through her carry on bag. "oh come on, we all know that you could have put him in his place and shut him up." he said plopping down on her bed. she sighed, standing up and putting her bag up on it's hook. there was a knock on the door as soon as she was about to speak up, "luke were getting food!" they heard jack on the other side. luke was about to speak up as she turned around, "just! go.." she said her voice raising slightly before softening. "just go, please. its whatever." she huffed, taking her towel and going into her connected washroom.

as soon as he shut the door, she shut her eyes and began to sob silently. and then it wasn't silent after a few minutes. she kneeled down and pulled her knees up to her chest, hyperventilating at this point.

ellen was walking past kaileys room when she heard the sobbing, and she quickly made her way in without knocking. however, her bedroom door was locked. "kailey sweetie, can you let me in please?" she said knocking on the washroom door. it only made kailey sob harder, "kailey baby, please. just let me be with you i wont say anything." ellen pleaded, as jim made his way down the hall after he heard ellen shouting. "no! i don't want to talk to you." she cried out, and jim's eyebrows furrowed. "'kiwi, please sweetie we just want to make sure you're ok!" jim added now. kailey shook her head, feeling her breathing become harder and harder. she was having an anxiety attack and felt as if she couldn't breathe. "i-i-i cant bre-breathe." she sobbed, and her parents looked at one another. they didn't know what to do besides breaking down the door. "call quinn!" ellen said in a hushed voice, and jim nodded pulling out his phone.

quinn was in the middle of driving towards their local chipotle, when he got a call. "hey dad, whats up?" he asked tapping the accept call on his phone. "hey uh, we need you to speak to or attempt to speak to kailey." jim said on speaker, before he took it off speaker and pulled it up to his ear. "is everything ok?" he questioned, his tone laced with concern. luke's head popped up from the backseat, quickly going to text kailey. quinn's hit the steering wheel twice, hearing that she was having an anxiety attack - well now, panic attack. "bro chill out." jack said not looking up from his phone. "put her on." quinn said, pulling into the parking lot. jack quickly hopped out as soon as quinn parked, with luke and quinn not moving from their seats. "lets go, i have plans later." jack said from where he stood just next to the passenger door. quinn waved him off as he heard sobbing from the other end, "she wont let us in the room. fuck!" jim swore as ellen continued to beg, with no luck.

"slide it under the door, ill try to talk to her." quinn said and jim nodded putting the phone on speaker and slid it under the door. kailey heard the scrape of the phone on the wood floor, and looked up to see her dads phone. she sniffled before quinn began to talk, "hey kiwi, is there any way i can get you to unlock the door for mom and dad?" he asked softly, and luke leaned in to hear her response. jack sighed, slamming the door and heading inside. kailey sniffled, "im so over it q...im done being treated as if i don't exist or matter." she sobbed taking the phone and bringing it closer. "i wanted to tell you guys what i did in los angeles, i wanted to tell you guys what food i tried or the colleges i visited..." she trailed off shutting her eyes tightly. "but its all about him, all about him!" she said frustratedly. "i know kiwi, i know." quinn said feeling his and luke's heart shatter. "im fine, i promise." she said wiping her nose, "im letting them in." she said hanging up on quinn. quinn swore, along with luke who sighed.

as soon as kailey unlocked the door, ellen made her way in quickly. jim stayed by the doorframe, watching as his wife pulled their daughter into her arms. she cried softly into ellen's arms, ellen's heart breaking at the sight. her happy-go-lucky daughter wasn't happy, and hadn't been for a while.

"no quinn, im sick and tired of him walking around here and telling people that im just another roommate to him? where does he get off by embarrassing me, huh?!" she screamed at her oldest brother. for the past ten minutes the two had been talking, and as it went on kailey's anger grew. "y'know what? im not dealing with this!" she said grabbing her car keys and wallet, and headed downstairs. "kails!" quinn called after her, and ignored him heading down the stairs before going to the garage. "kails wait!" quinn called after her, and she stopped to turn around. "stop defending him! stop it! just stop! next time i need someone to talk to ill know not to come to you, okay?" she screamed about to turn around, but he grabbed her arm before she could do so. she yanked her arm from him, giving him a death glare in the process. "who are we fighting about?" jack questioned cheekily from the living room, and she quickly started her descent towards the second eldest. quinn quickly scuffled after her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "no let go of me!" she screamed, trying to get away. she kicked her foot to his chin, and he let go of her. "dont you touch me luke!" she screamed, pointing a finger at her Irish twin. he held his hands up in innocence, backing away. she then looked towards jack who found all of this amusing.

"kailey." ellen said trying to settle her daughter.

"man if i could only wipe that childish smirk off your face, id be the one smirking. i'd be the one who is fucking happy in this household but NO! it has to be you, always. you have to suck it out of everybody else like goddamn vampire, jack and i only hope karma comes for you..as a rookie." she snapped, before turning around and walking out to the garage. quinn held up his hands, not letting anybody go after her. "you! you don't get to move an inch." he said threatening jack who tried to get up, "i've sat back too damn long and allowed you to treat our only sister like shit for the past three years. I've allowed mom and dad without success try to reprimand you without luck. im sick of you acting like an immature baby who believes that he is the only child in this family. do you realize how annoying it is to hear your voice 24/7? and don't act like i haven't noticed everything, I've just become so immune to it - its made me sick. i love you man but wake up, better yet- grow up!" quinn boomed at his brother, before walking outside. jack looked over towards luke, who only shook his head in response before heading outside after quinn.

ellen and jim looked at one another before they both shook their heads. they stood up, with ellen heading upstairs to kaileys room and jim to his office.

jack sat there alone, not truly understanding or comprehending the true weight of his words and actions to kailey over the years.

pov: jack was thinking to surprise you to have a dinner date on a yacht. you thought to yourself why jack was always on the phone calling trevor and leaving the room. well, there’s only way to find out.

“what’s up trev?” jack said while on the phone

you were thinking why jack was always calling trevor. you started to wonder some things on your mind.

as jack leaves the bedroom, you can hear him laughing and talking about something happening on a yacht.

“what is he saying?” you started to talk to yourself and hear through the door.

after a few minutes of them talking, you sat on your bed watching tv.

“hey babe” jack said.

“hey” you replied

“what’s going on with you and trevor?”

“nothing i just want you to get ready tomorrow”

“why”

“i’ll tell you more tomorrow, it’s not that important. let’s just watch a movie together and cuddle”

“okayy” you said as your thoughts started to wonder.

as you and jack cuddled, you fell asleep into his arms smelling his wonderful scent.

“baby wake up” jack said you as he’s putting your hair behind your ears

“why?” you asked

“ohh yeah sorry” you said as you started to wonder why he woke you up so early

“i made you some breakfast”

“oh thank you baby” you said as you smelled the wonderful eggs and toast

as soon as you woke up, you started to get ready and put on some natural makeup.

as you walked down the stairs, you and jack started to eat breakfast together.

“jack why are you being so nice to me today?” you asked as you started to be suspicious

“oh nothing we’re going somewhere” he replied in a weird way

“hmm what do you mean somewhere?”

“don’t worry about it, after you eat i’ll warm up the car”

as time passes by, you went into the car and scrolled thru insta. the drive was 45 mins away.

as soon as you and jack arrived at the destination, you were in shock.

“jack why are we at this beautiful dock with only one yacht?”

“you’ll find out”

“trev! come on over bro!”

“what’s up guys! how are we doing m’lady?”

“dude” jack said as he hit trevor lightly on his chest

“oh oops sorry jack. take a chill pill man”

“guys! why are we here?”

“you see y/n i will be your butler”

“no way trevor, are you serious? on this yacht your a butler?” you laughed

“yes”

“anyways y/n come inside” jack said

as you walked inside, you started to see the beautiful sunset outside.

“jack, honey this is beautiful” you said as you walked to the table

“i know that’s why i’ve been calling trevor”

“trev you guys!” you said as you went in for a hug

after trevor served you and jack food, jack told trevor to record this moment.

“uhh jack-“

jack kneeled on one knee and held a ring box.

“y/n will you marry me and be mine forever?”

“jack, yes of course!”

“she said yes guys!” trevor shouted in happiness

“i will always love you jack!!”

The scrambler: carnival series pt 2

The conductor waived a farewell at the paramedics as they loaded the now older fat Jake into the back of the ambulance. He hoped that more people would come. He loved swapping their bodies like this. It wasn’t long before two football jocks half naked were walking in front of his setup making fun of the other. Quinn and Derek. The conductor was immediately grinning as he set his eyes on the pair of identical twins. How could this not be more fun. “Yeah well at least I’m taking steroids you dumb oaf!” Derek jokingly said to his brother. “Oh you’re just jealous at my gains bro! Admit it!” Quinn replied.

“My dear men! Would you like to have s go on the scrambler ! It’s one of the best carnivals rides we have here !” The two men punched each other in the arm and laughed stupidly and walked to the conductor. “Sure what kind of ride is it”. The conductor showed the men to the machine where they were quickly seated and strapped in. Quinn looked s true conductor and said “this better not be some stupid ride bro. It looks old as hell!” The conductor smiled. “I’m sure you going to enjoy this more than any other ride in the park!” The conductor walked over to the control panel and hit start.

The machine came to life and soon both of the men were spinning faster and faster until it looked like one single person in the machine. “Dude this is gonna make me sick!” Derek shouted and Quinn yelled back in agreement. When the machine came to a stop both of the men had their eyes shut until the world stopped spinning.

“Dude that was awesome let’s go again!” The conductor grinned. “Sorry lads. No can do. Only one ride per customer”. Both of the men said awe damn at the same time. Not even knowing what had happened.

Quinn and Derek walked away from the machine. Quinn burped and tasted onions which was weird because he didn’t eat onions earlier. Derek was walking and felt like his stance was off but he decided it had to be the ride that messed up his equilibrium.

Both men weren’t feeling too great after the ride and walked out of the fair and headed to their dorm room for the evening.

When the two got to their dorm room they both crashed on the bed and fell asleep.

The next morning Derek woke up with an intense hunger wasn’t used to. He jumped out of bed and starts to eat everything he could while Quinn lay on his bed and rubbed his eyes. Derek didn’t even notice that he was doing the same think that Quinn did every morning. Rummaging the kitchen and looking for food. He’f bene like that ever since he started using the roids. After Derek finished eating he went to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror he noticed some dark spots on his shoulders that weren’t there before. They looked like dark red acne spots that Quinn had on his back. Looking closer he noticed how his jaw was slightly different than he remembered. His heart began to race as terror of realization hit him. “Hey Quinn! Get in here !” Quinn could be stifling to the door. “I’m not into that gay stuff bro. What do you want !” Derek turned around. “Bro. I think something is wrong. Look!” He pointed to his shoulders and jaw. And realized that Quinn was slightly shorter than him. Quinn wasn’t paying attention to him and Derek shoved him in front of the mirror. “Bro look!” Quinn took a double take. Sure the body he was looking at looked just like him. But he seen the differences. Twins can always tell.

Both of the men were sitting on their bed panicking. They checked their phones in their pockets from the night before and Derek and Quinn both had each others phones. They had confirmed it. Somehow they had swapped bodies. Derek couldn’t stop eating from the roids that were pulsing through his body now and Quinn was trying to figure out what to do. They got dressed to head to fair to confront the conductor. Derek was stumbling as he walked now realizing his stance was off from a shoe size 2 sizes bigger than his 14s he was used to.

The problem was when they arrived at the fair. The machine and the conductor was no where to be seen.

I know in the worlds they don’t have friendlies during the off season but for the sake of this series we’re gonna pretend they do!!

After sunset Jack and Mackenzie decided to head back to shore. Jack pulled the anchor up, as Mackenzie folded the blankets.

Jack talked about how excited he was for world friendlies but was cut off by Mackenzie groaning, he looked back to see her bent over. “Kenz, you ok?” Jack walked over to her, rubbing the small of her back.

“Mhm” Mackenzie hummed out, Jack sighed, he hated seeing his girl in pain and not being able to do anything.

“Tell me what you need bubs” Jack kissed her head as she stood up straight, leaning back into him. Jack wrapped his arms around her, placing his hands on her lower stomach. Mackenzie moaned quietly as Jack applied slight pressure to her stomach.

“That helping baby?” Jack cooed, applying more pressure and moving his hands around. Mackenzie groaned as Jack hit a particular sore spot, “is there sore bubs?” Jack asked as Mackenzie nodded. “Hmm how about we head back to the house, get changed into comfy clothes and cuddle?” Jack suggested.

Mackenzie nodded, leaning back to kiss him, Jack kissed back before pulling away.

“Come on then beautiful, let’s get you home” Jack kissed her cheek before leading her to the drivers bench. Jack opened his arms inviting Kenzie to sit on his lap as he started driving back to shore.

Mackenzie whined as the waves began to get choppy, Jack soothed her the best he could whilst concentrating on the water in front. “shh it’s ok baby, we’ll be back soon I promise” Jack cooed as he saw the dock appearing in front, frowning when he saw a figure standing in the shadowy part.

Subconsciously Jack wrapped his arms tighter around Mackenzie. Jack asks Kenzie if she could pull out his phone to call Quinn. Mackenzie grabbed his phone, smiling at the background picture. It was a picture of the two taken by Trevor a couple months after they started dating, Mackenzie was cuddled into Jack's side laughing, Jack had his arm around her looking down at her laughing outside a club they’d gone to celebrate Freya's birthday. Neither of them realised Trevor had taken the picture.

Mackenzie unlocked his phone using their anniversary as his passcode. Quinn answers on the second ring, “hey bro, everything alright?” Quinn’s voice came through the speaker.

“Hey Quinny, erm no? There’s someone hanging around by the dock, looks a lil sus” Jack spoke back, turning the boat around. “What? Are you two ok? Who is it?” Trevor spoke, taking over from Quinn.

“Yeah, yeah Kenz and I are fine. I just don’t wanna dock with it being just us two. I don’t know who it is” Jack replied. “What? Trev now’s not the time” Quinn mumbled.

Mackenzie giggled at the two, “aww is big scary Trevy-bear gonna come rescue us?” Kenzie teased. Quinn laughed as he shut the back door, Trevor and Luke following behind. “Hell yeah he is, he's the biggest bravest scariest bear around” Trevor played along.

“Mhm so brave that he screamed and run away from a spider in the bathroom” Luke teased laughing along with Kenzie. “Yeah yeah whatever, look we’re nearly there so turn back” Quinn told Jack, the middle Hughes followed instructions turning back to the dock.

“Are they still there?” Kenzie asked, “yeah, Luke and Trev are going over now” Quinn responded. “WHAT?! You let lukey go?” Jack exclaimed.

Quinn sighed, “Jack baby, he’ll be fine! Trev’s there” Kenzie squeezed his hand. “OH MY GOD” Luke shouted, Jack and Kenzie both looked at each other worried.

“Luke… LUKE are you ok?” Quinn shouted, Jack and Kenzie now coming into view of the dock seeing Luke on the floor. “Quinn, Quinn what’s happening? Is Lukey—” Jack asked before getting cut off by Quinn and Trevor laughing.

“Sky-Skylar you scared me!!” Luke exclaimed, Mackenzie felt Jack physically relax at the sound of Luke’s voice. “What’s Sky doing out here alone?” Mackenzie thought aloud. Jack shrugged before docking, helping Mackenzie out before climbing out himself.

Jack offered Mackenzie his hand which she happily grabbed as they made their way to the others. “Sky? What are you doing out here?” Mackenzie again voiced her thoughts from earlier. Skylar sighed as Mackenzie brought her into a brief hug before examining her for any injuries. “I came looking for you, these last few days have been weird between us and I wanted to talk, apologise” Skylar explained.

Mackenzie hugged her again, “but why are you out here?” Jack asked. “Kaylee told me she saw you and Mackenzie leaving the house, I thought you’d be at the dock but when I saw the boat gone I’d figured I’d wait for you to get back” Skylar explained again as they all made their way back to the house.

Mackenzie stopped walking with Jack, squeezing his hand and groaning again. Everyone turned to look at her as Jack began to massage her stomach again. “What’s up Kenzie?” Quinn asked.

“She’s cramping again” Jack explained, the boys nodded as Skylar looked at her sister in sympathy. “Sky, would it be ok if we talk tomorrow? I’m cramping so much right now” Mackenzie explained. “Yeah, of course! Do you want me to get Sebastian?” Skylar asked.

Jack belly laughed as all the boys frowned looking confused, “Sebastian?” Trevor piped up. “Sebastian the plushy heating pad lobster” Skylar explained. “Rriiigghtttt” Luke nodded as he opened the back door.

“Anyway, glad everyone is ok. I’m gonna head back to the boys” Quinn said, walking away Luke and Trevor following behind him.

“I’ll get Sebastian heated and meet you upstairs” Jack smiled, kissing Kenzie’s head before heading to the kitchen leaving the Havener sisters alone on the back porch. “I’ll leave you to it then, but maybe we can spend the day together tomorrow?” Skylar suggested looking hopeful. “I’d love that Sky” Mackenzie smiled, happy that her sister had extended an olive branch.

Mackenzie gave Skylar a hug, kissing her forehead before heading upstairs, she didn’t get far before someone cleared their throat behind her.

“Erm Kenzie?” Luke's voice spoke through the stairwell. Mackenzie turned around “hey lukey, what’s up” Mackenzie noticed his rosy cheeks, furrowing her eyebrows. “Erm you have a little something” Luke pointed to her butt. Mackenzie frowned, “what?” She asked before it dawned on her. Oh no is all she thought before running up to hers and Jack's shared bathroom.

Mackenzie sat on the toilet, to sort herself out, but realised she needed a change of underwear.

“JACK” Mackenzie shouted out, waiting for a response. Mackenzie sighed, “JACK” Mackenzie shouted louder, hearing footsteps coming down the hallway. “Kenzie?” Quinn’s muffled voice said. “Quinn? Can you get Jack for me please?” Mackenzie pleaded. “Yeah sure, JAck” Quinn’s voice got quieter as he walked away.

Mackenzie waited, sighing. A faint knock was heard at the door, “Kenzie?” Quinn spoke, “Jack’s not here.” “What?! He was here 5 minutes ago” Mackenzie worried, “Luke said he’s gone to the store” Quinn explained, Mackenzie groaned out partly due to her cramps but partly because she was stuck until he came back. “Is Kaylee there?” Mackenzie shouted back. “Erm yeah, KAYLEE COME HERE” Quinn shouted, a minute later Kaylee was bounding into the bedroom, “Kenny-bear where you at?” Kaylee called.

“In the bathroom, can you pass me some underwear and a change of pants?” Kenzie asked, “yeah babe, where are they?” Kaylee began rummaging around.

“In the dresser” Mackenzie called back, soon an arm appeared through the door frame, “here you go babe” Kaylee passed clothes to her. “Thanks gorgeous, is jack back yet?” Mackenzie asked as she changed.

“Erm I think so, I just heard the door go” Kaylee popped her head out into the hallway, seeing Jack carrying a gift bag. Kaylee quirked her brow at him “I see you’ve got Sebastian” she laughed, “ yeah and a care package for Kenz” Jack explained before heading into their room. Kenzie was leaving the bathroom as Jack walked in, “hey babe, I got you some supplies” Jack passed her the bag, and watched eagerly as Kenzie went through it, frowning when he noticed the tears falling down her cheeks.

“What’s wrong baby? You don’t like it?” Jack worried, he’d seen a tik tok of a boyfriend making a care package for his girlfriend during that time and wanted to do the same. “No, no it’s just no one’s ever done anything like that for me before, it’s so thoughtful J I love it” Mackenzie explained, “damn hormones” she muttered.

Jack laughed before pulling her into a hug, kissing her head. “What do you need now bubs?” Jack asked, guiding her to the bed. “Cuddles?” Mackenzie pouted, Jack pulled her into bed with him, Mackenzie snuggling into his side as he placed Sebastian on her back, massaging her front. Loading up Netflix, Jack clicked on unsolved mysteries, opening a bag of m&m’s and feeding Mackenzie a few.

“I wuv you” Mackenzie muffled out, with a mouthful of m&m’s. Jack laughed “i wuv you too” he mocked back, kissing her head again.

For the rest of the evening the couple stayed as they were, Jack occasionally getting out to reheat Sebastian or to make a cup of hot chocolate. Mackenzie occasionally getting up to change her tampon, or the stretch. It wasn’t long into the 7th episode that Mackenzie drifted off, Jack smiled at her, wondering how he’d gotten so lucky.

Nearly 3 years on and Jack could still feel the butterflies in his stomach when she told him she loved him, or when she’d just look at him and smile. Jack would bet on everything he had, that Mackenzie was the one, and he’d be damned if he didn’t treat her as anything but his whole world including getting up at 3 am to reheat her lobster. Ellen and Jim had always lectured the boys on the importance of treating their partners right, respecting women, showing them you love them with little things. Jack liked to think he was doing a pretty good job at that.

Mackenzie woke up the next morning feeling worse than yesterday, day 3 was always the worst for her. Mackenzie began patting the space next to her looking for Jack, the door creaking open made her shoot her head up. Watching as Jack came in with a plate of pancakes in one hand, an iced coffee in the other.

“Morning snickerdoodle” Jack placed the drink and plate on the nightstand before leaning down to kiss her. “Mm morning lovebug” Mackenzie hummed back. Jack laughed as he pulled away, “lovebug? That’s a new one” he said as Mackenzie went to brush her teeth and change her tampon, washing her hands before she climbed back into bed.

“You’re one to talk with snickerdoodle” Mackenzie laughed, “how are you feeling?” Jack smirked as he saw her eyeing up the pancakes on the nightstand, “go ahead babe they’re for you” Jack passed her the plate. Mackenzie frowned “did you not get yourself some?”

“I already ate mine, thought I’d treat my girl to breakfast in bed” Jack hummed climbing back in to cuddle her, Kaylee and Trevor joined them soon after breakfast to cuddle and chill. The boys being roped into face masks, awful karaoke and plenty of cuddles.

Both Kaylee and Mackenzie fell asleep cuddling into each other, Jack smiled at the two. “You’re one lucky man Jack Hughes” Trevor hummed out, “that I am trev, that I am” Jack smiled, leaning in to brush the hair out of her face and kiss her scar, smiling wider as she subconsciously scrunched her nose.

“Where's Quinn?” you cried out for what seemed like the hundredth time to anyone who was listening. Of course when you went into labour Quinn was halfway across the country on a roadie. 

“He’s coming sweetie, he’s coming” your mother tried to soothe you again but it proved to be of no use. You refused to have your first baby without your husband. 

You cried out again, the pain and your wanting for Quinn starting to overwhelm you. 

“She needs to calm down,” a nurse shouted, and you swore you were going to lose your mind.

However before you could say anything back, your hospital room door was swinging open and a restless looking Quinn bounded into the room panting. “Quinn!” you cried out, tears springing to your eyes as you catch sight of the love of your life. Quinn rushes over to you, replacing your moms hand with his own as he holds your hand tightly. 

“I’m so sorry baby, I got here as fast as I could” he breathes out heavily, still out of breath from his journey of running around the hospital. 

“You’re here now, it's okay” you gave him a soft smile that was quickly replaced with a wince as another contraction hit you. Quinn reached his free hand up and brushed your hair out of your face, when he tried to soothe you it worked, and you were finally able to calm down a little.

“It’s time to start pushing mama!” One of the nurses says trying to hype you up. 

A few short hours later, it was just you and Quinn in your  hospital room. He was sitting beside you on your bed, one hand strung around your shoulders as you both looked down at the sleeping baby in your arms. 

“I’m so proud of you,” Quinn whispers as he kisses the top of your head, eyes never leaving his newborn. “She’s precious” he says again, as he traces one of his fingers along his baby's cheek.

“She looks like you” you murmur, “she’s beautiful Quinny” you smile softly down at your baby girl before redirecting your gaze to look at Quinn. You had never seen him look so at ease, the adoration in his eyes made you want to go through this whole painful process again. You’d do anything to make him look so peaceful and happy.

“I think she looks like her mama,” Quinn whispers back, removing his hand from your shoulder and bringing it back down to your waist. He placed his head on your shoulder, leaving a soft kiss on your hospital gown as he went.

You hummed in response, leaning your head on top of Quinns. Both of you so happy and content to hold and look at your precious baby.

Quinn dating Luke’s friend and Luke finds out and he’s mad because they didn’t tell him they were seeing each other and Quinn and his gf/s.o get into a fight because they’re so exhausted from trying to work it out w Luke

“Are you fucking kidding me Quinn?” Luke yelled.

“Luke-” Quinn tried but your best friend was already yelling before he could get another word out. It probably wasn’t the smartest idea to stay in Quinn’s bed last night but you were talking and it was late… it definitely wasn’t a good idea. Luke’s shrieking was what woke you up and that hadn’t stopped in the past 5 minutes.

“She’s my best friend! Y/n! He’s my brother!” Luke wasn’t sure who he was more mad at, you had both lied to him.

“Luke I swear we were going to tell you” You say, peeking around Quinn for the first time since he’d positioned himself between you and his youngest brother.

“I don’t want to hear it” Luke slammed Quinn’s bedroom door before stomping down the stairs, right into the kitchen where the rest of the guys have gathered.

“What’s going on?” Cole asks when he sees an angry Luke stalking into the kitchen.

“Quinn and Y/n” Luke said as he paced through the kitchen.

“No shit!” Trevor exclaimed in disbelief.

“Y/n? Our Y/n?” Eddy asks and Luke nods. Then, all hell breaks loose. Eddy, Dylan, and Mackie are just as mad as Luke while Trevor, Cole, and Alex defend Quinn.

“Don’t blame Quinn, he’s liked her ever since he met her”

“That’s gross she’s like our sister”

“She’s just as much to blame”

“Luke would never be mad at her”

“Guys!” Jack yells over everyone, catching the attention of the group. “There’s no point in us arguing over it”

“He’s right, Luke should talk to Quinn” The boys scramble, pushing Luke out onto the deck and then a minute later, Quinn joins him, awkwardly walking over to the couches.

“Dude…”

“I can’t believe you would do this” Luke shakes his head, not even wanting to listen to the dumb excuse Quinn has ready to go.

“Luke I swear, it’s not like we were planning to get together and when we did, we didn’t want to keep it from you” You were going to tell him, really, it just never seemed like the right time.

“That’s what everyone says after they get caught” Luke rolls his eyes.

“If you’re not willing to listen, I’m not going to keep apologizing” Quinn was annoyed. He really didn’t want to hurt his younger brother but he’s said his piece and still isn’t being heard. There was no point in grovelling if Luke wasn’t going to try and forgive him.

“Funny, I haven’t heard you apologize at all” Luke scoffed.

“You know what? Fuck off bro” Quinn rolls his eyes, pushing up from the couch and stalking off into the house, slamming the door behind him. The rest of the guys are trying their hardest to look casual, as if they weren’t just eavesdropping on the conversation.

Quinn bypasses them all, heading straight for the stairs, hoping you’d have something uplifting to tell him, you always did after all.

“How did it go?” You ask as soon as he’s back in the room. You had been hiding upstairs all morning, Eddy came to check on you but other than that you haven’t talked to anyone.

Quinn sighs, flopping down on the bed and your heart drops, knowing it didn’t go well. He recounts the conversation to you and you’re not sure if it’s because you’re annoyed with how hostile he was or if you just feel bad for lying to Luke but you’re immediately angry.

“You actually said that to him?”

Quinn raised his head from the mattress to look at you. “Wha-? Yeah he was being a dick”

“Quinn! We’ve been lying to him, he’s allowed to act like that” You argue and Quinn’s eyes widen.

“What?”

“I can’t believe you were that mean” You mumble, moving off his bed, collecting your stuff throughout his room.

“Babe come on where are you going?” Quinn asks, sitting up and reaching for your hand but you pull away faster.

“Back to my room. I just need space” You say before slipping out of the bedroom, closing the door behind you. Quinn groaned in frustration but you didn’t pay it any mind, too busy stomping to the room you had hoped you wouldn’t have to even use this week.

Downstairs, the boys had been talking with Luke, trying to restore some sort of peace in the house and they had finally gotten through to him, sending him up to talk to you.

“Can I come in?” Luke poked his head in your room, causing you to quickly sit up and nod, moving over to give him room on the bed.

“Luke I am so sorry” You blurted as soon as Luke looked at you.

“How did you even end up dating? He’s in Vancouver like all year”

“It was when he came back for that game in February? I don’t know, we were talking at the game, about you mostly, but then we just never stopped. He went back and we kept in touch, texting and everything. Nothing actually happened until he came home and we only just made it official before we came up here. I promise it’s not like we’ve been hiding this for forever, it’s still so new”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” His voice was low and steady but you knew Luke better than you knew yourself, he was hurt.

“We should have okay? I know that and I swear if you’re mad at anyone, it should be me. Quinn wanted to tell you but I wouldn’t let him”

“I’m not mad at you” Luke sighed, “Or Quinn”

“Really?”

“Yeah, I’m going to talk to him now, hope he’s not mad at me” He laughs and you let out a breath.

“Me too”

“What do you mean?”

“I kinda flipped on him because he was mean to you so he’s probably pissed at me” Luke deadpans, shaking his head at you.

“God, do I have to fix everything today?” He gets up and storms out of the room, leaving you sitting there with a dropped jaw, still trying to process what just happened.

“Bro are you stupid?” Luke yells, flinging his oldest brother’s door open.

“Excuse me?” Quinn stands up and crosses his arms over his chest.

“You finally get with a girl who’s worth your time and you fuck it up?” Luke asks and Quinn’s surprised because since when was Luke a relationship expert?

“I didn’t fuck anything up!” He yells, “She’s the one who got mad and walked out!”

“In my defense, you were being a bitch to my best friend” Quinn looked around Luke’s body to see you standing in the doorway.

“I’ll just leave you to it” Luke grinned, sneaking past you in the doorway before running downstairs.

“I was defending our relationship” Quinn says quietly.

“I was defending Luke” You reply and he laughs. “Quinn… you know how I am, how Luke and I am. I’m sorry but defending him is just instinct”

“I know” He nods, “I’m not mad, I get it” He wasn’t even lying, he had been around you and Luke for long enough to know that you’d do anything for each other.

“I was annoyed with Luke and I took it out on you. Even if you did kinda deserve it… I should’ve explained instead of walking away” You weren’t sure what else to say.

“Babe, it’s fine, c’mon don’t worry about it” Quinn pulls you into a hug and immediately, everything feels normal again.

“We’re going out on the boat are you two done- oh gross! No PDA!” You turn to see Luke making a scene in the hall which makes you and Quinn both laugh.
